Outremer 4X on test – a high-performance liveaboard cruiser that is built to last

  • Toby Hodges
  • July 7, 2017

Based on the hulls of the Outremer 45, the extended 4X comes with a carbon rig and high expectations.

catamaran 4x cat 28

It’s a mix of everything you need for cruising and what you want to feel for performance,” Loïck Peyron said of the 4X during our initial trials. Outremer employs the multihull record-setter as a consultant to advise on the ergonomics of the boat and the line handling set-up.

In the 2016/17 European Yacht of the Year awards , held in January at Düsseldorf Boat Show, the Outremer 4X was winner of the Multihull category. The other nominees: Lagoon 42, FP Lucia 40, Nautitech 46 Open, Tricat 30.

Like Outremers past, the 4X is first a distance cruiser – one that’s designed to be lived aboard – but the X part denotes how she’s been optimised for performance. She has the same hulls as the 45 but with 3ft extensions aft, an optimised appendages and deck layout, a carbon rotating mast and carbon reinforcement.

You can perhaps understand the frustration of being aboard a cat like this with arguably the world’s foremost helmsman and only being dealt 3 to 5 knots of breeze, yet Peyron was quick to prove how this 48-footer can keep moving at the same speed as the wind. The Outremer never seemed to stop, even when all other yachts were parked.

During a second trial later that week (without Peyron) we clocked a steady 11-13 knots in 12-15 knots wind. It was addictively enjoyable fast cruising.

I was also surprised how light and balanced she felt sailing upwind. We made 9 knots at 70°T and it was light on both the helms – the wheel steering station on the coachroof and the tiller out on the bucket seat at the stern.

Pogo 36 – the performance cruiser that lived up to the hype

Pogo: a boat that brings fast fun to normal sailing. These are not racing yachts, but light and stiff (composite…

The key to designing a distance cruising yacht is getting the right balance between speed, controllability and safety. It’s not all about performance but a smooth ride; you can reef down and be underpowered, yet still slipping along.

The 4X will cruise at 6.5 knots under one of her 30hp engines, limiting noise to one side of the boat and reducing fuel consumption.

Positioned next to the single wheel is a bank of winches and clutches to control the sheets, halyards and mast rotation. This can appear daunting and takes some familiarisation – but they are placed exactly where needed.

The square top part to the powerhouse mainsail is particularly generous and there is a big J area for furling foresails.

The downside is that, to sail fast, she needs to be kept lightweight, so the interior and fit-out is basic to the point of minimalist. The narrow hulls and waterline beam of the Outremer  offers much less space than a charter cat.

She is also a high boat to look at and to board, as the freeboard height is needed for headroom and bridgedeck clearance.

The other main downside is Outremer’s lead time and high price, although these cats do typically command a high resale value. All structural parts are laminated and the 4X has vacuum infused carbon composite reinforced bulkheads.

“The goal is that the boat will last at least 50 years,” says sales and marketing manager Matthieu Rougevin-Baville. “Or eight to ten times around the world without structural issues. It’s a very different business model.”

Toby’s Conclusion

The Outremer 4X is not about outright speed, more a smooth, fast enjoyable ride. She is built to last, enjoyable to helm and the ideal size to go long-distance cruising at pace.

Roland Duller, YachtRevue , Austria For sure the best of the new age cruising catamarans in this size. She showed good speed and fun under sail with lots of very well thought-out solutions.

Pancho Pi-Suñer Oses, Nautica y Yates , Spain It brings together all the facilities that one might expect in a multihull, coupled with very high performance. You really get what you pay for.

Loïc Madeline, Voiles & Voiliers , France A luxury yacht, fast and distinctive. What makes it the winner is the choice of the builder. A really pleasant sailing boat to helm.

Axel Nissen-Lie, Seilas , Norway Outremer has what it takes to convince a monohull sailor to go multihull cruising. It’s a fine balance between space and comfort on the one hand, and sailing abilities on the other.

Jochen Rieker, YACHT , Germany She offered the best combination of space, comfort and, not least, performance. For crossing the Atlantic and spending the winter in the Caribbean, there could hardly be a better choice.

About European Yacht of the Year awards

The European Yacht of the Year is judged by journalists from 11 different magazines from 11 different European nations. Each jury member tested every yacht from the five different categories, over two separate weeks in two different locations.

Take a look at last year’s winners and the winners from the year before .

After the decisions were finalised, the five category winners were announced in January at a prizegiving held during the opening night of the Düsseldorf Boat Show.

The expression, “Two’s company, three’s a crowd,” isn’t heard much around the Pro Sports factory. That’s because with three models of the 28 Pro Kat catamaran now available – Walkaround, Sport Cuddy and Center Console – there’s one to satisfy most every boater.

“Anyone interested in a 28- to 29-foot conventional boat will be impressed with the Pro Kat,” explains Pro Sports president Mike Robinson. “It’s a hands-down winner for stability, and it lends itself to serious fishing and diving because of its range, ride and handling.”

catamaran 4x cat 28

All three models are based on the same planing hull. Reverse chines on each sponson provide increased lift for stability, fuel efficiency and a drier ride, as we discovered during choppy conditions in Alabama’s Mobile Bay. The Pro Kat sliced through the waves and tracked exceptionally well. Straight runs allowed nearly effortless steering with the Sea Star hydraulic system, while on gradual turns the boat would follow the heading without hesitation or drift. We did encounter some tunnel slap in a head sea, but were able to eliminate it by angling slightly into the waves.

In addition to stability, our test ride demonstrated the Pro Kat’s other positive performance characteristics. It stays abeam of the seas on a drift, offering unhindered fishing from either side, and the effect of whitewater funneling tightly between the sponsons and outboards, combined with the gurgling noise it produces, is sure to raise fish when trolling.

Incredible Range

And speaking of trolling, the Pro Kat will let you maximize your fishing time, according to Pro Sports’s performance data. A Sport Cuddy rigged with twin 200 Mercury OptiMax outboards is capable of 51.9 mph at a wide-open 5800 rpm. Throttle back to 4000 rpm for a cruising speed of 39.1 mph and 19.6 gph, or save even more gas by dropping to 3200 rpm (28 mph and 12.6 gph). With a fuel capacity of 238 gallons, that translates into a 474-mile range at cruise.

catamaran 4x cat 28

Every model of the 28 Pro Kat features plenty of standard angling amenities. Topping the list are a 40-gallon, oval bait well with macerator pump and cutting-board top; two large, insulated fishboxes; molded rod racks, and a molded backing plate in the cockpit sole for mounting a fighting chair. Add the 28’s immense cockpit, padded coaming bolsters, rod holders and ample storage for tackle and gear, and you’ve got a very versatile fishing machine.

Removable transom bench seats and forward padded seating complement the large helm leaning post and console. The console (with standard stainless steering wheel) is large enough to accommodate a typical electronics package, while the carpeted interior offers access, plus additional storage and room for an optional head. A handy console T-top/radio box combo is also available as an option.

The center-console model has wraparound seating in the bow, along with a convenient, lockable storage area that’ll easily handle rods and gear for overnight stays in a marina. The cuddy version, on the other hand, uses that same space for a small yet cozy cabin. The finished space features twin padded berths with storage below. All models in the 28 Pro Kat line come equipped with stainless bow railings, an anchor roller with hawse pipe, and a lifetime hull warranty against rot.

With very affordable price tags for boats of this size, no matter which model of the 28 Pro Kat you choose it’s sure to draw a crowd – of admirers, that is.

Outremer 4X

Outremer-X4-001

Description

catamaran 4x cat 28

She’s an Outremer, so she’s built to cross oceans quickly in comfort. And comfort on an Outremer is more about how the boat rides and how quickly it can get you there, rather than huge living space. The 4X is designed to be lived aboard – but the X stands for performance, so the hulls are 3 ft longer (more stability), she has an tweaked deck layout, and a carbon rotating mast (the rotating bit is an option) plus carbon reinforcement to reduce the weight. The Main bulkheads, daggerboards, rotating mast (as an option), and tiller seats are all built with  fiber. With less weight and a 15% powerful sail plan, this is their supercharged version of the 45.

The Outremer 4X is built by the same group that is behind the newer Gunboats (albeit a different division). Read our Gunboat 68 review to get a good idea of how advanced these guys are in the art of performance catamaran cruising.

catamaran 4x cat 28

She’s light and finely balanced, sailing upwind or whichever point of sail. There is a single helm on the coachroof (port side) and tillers aft where you can steer sat on the famous bucket seats at the stern. All this translates into pure sailing pleasure.

The team at La Grande Motte seem to have nailed that difficult balance between speed, feel and safety on this boat- she has an exceptionally smooth ride and cracks along even when you are over reefed and playing safe. Next to the helm are the winches and clutches that control the sheets, halyards and mast rotation. Everything is well thought out and to hand – features that have been developed from years of customer feedback from other boats like the Outremer 51 and her smaller sister, the 45.

Of course, your compromise for all this speed is space, particularly down below. For that speed, she needs to be light, so the interior is geared towards no frills simplicity (although she looks more cozy than a Marsuadon or a Schionning), and her narrow hulls have less space than that cruising cat you will be leaving behind you on the horizon.

But the key thing to understand about the 4X is that the comfort comes from the way she sails and the motion of the boat. Even in rough conditions, the motion will be more comfortable than many other yachts. The lighter weight reduces the pitching motion: there is no lurching sensation that you can get with boats that carry more weight as they tend to dive into the waves rather than cut through the the waves. Of course, with this in mind it´s important that you don´t overload her.

Under Power

The 4X cruises at 5- 6 knots under power at 2,200 RPM through one of her 30HP engines. You´ll burn through around 2 litres per hour: that’s the benefit of those sleek hulls. Alternate the engines and you´ll have a nice quiet hull for the person who is off watch, and you´ll extend your range.

With both engines at full speed ahead, (3,200 RPM) you should get over 9 knots in calm conditions.

The Outremer 4X isn’t cheap (the carbon sees to that), but they do hold their value pretty well. All the structural parts are laminated and she has vacuum infused carbon composite reinforced bulkheads. These are boats that are built to circumnavigate for 30 to 50 years.

Living Space

There are 2 layouts on the menu: the owner’s version and the offshore version. It´s identical to the Outremer 45.

catamaran 4x cat 28

The galley is a decent size and I like the rubbish chute system on the worktop- that´s well thought through. There´s also a neat little chute that empties into the sea for organic waste/fish food when you are offshore. That saves a trip to the aft beam and back.

There is an option for a freezer on the starboard side to match the fridge on the port side.

In the aft cockpit, there´s another dining table and a sofa that wraps along the aft beam. With the sliding doors fully open, it all connects up into one big space on one level. and becomes one big extension to the main cabin.

There´s not much shade in the aft cockpit though, as they have a bimini strip along the cockpit rather than full coverage. You can order shades that extend over the cockpit – they are an essential option I think.

In the owner’s version there are two cabins in the port hull with a shared head and shower. In the starboard side, there is one double berth aft and a decent sized head forward. This cat is built for speed, so the hulls are slender  – there´s less space down here than many other multihulls, but that´s your compromise.

Outremer´s philosophy is that the ride is much more comfortable on their yachts. You’re not going to sleep well in a massive cabin if you are smashing around in it. These are boats for crossing oceans.

In the offshore version, you get 4 double berths, which is what most manufacturer´s call the charter version, but I guess that market is limited with an Outremer 4X. Who´s going to want a once-a-year bareboater blasting away on their 4X?

If you are looking for the fastest long distance cruiser on the market, the 4X could be it: a super smooth, fast performance cruising catamaran that is built to last.

World Cat 280 DC-X Boat Test

  • By Pete McDonald
  • Updated: April 10, 2019

World Cat 280 DC-X Boat Test

The rise of the dual console has paralleled the rise of luxury center-consoles and outboard-powered bowriders, in part because they are a combination of both. They have the functionality to entertain the family, the credibility to satisfy hardcore anglers, and the ability to roam far outside the inlet. In many ways, in the battle between fishing and family entertainment, it’s the perfect compromise. Perhaps no boat is better suited to meet that mission than a power catamaran like the World Cat 280 DC-X. The dual hull provides superior seakeeping and stability when compared to many monohulls of the same length and displacement, and the twin hulls allow World Cat to maximize deck space.

Note how wide and deep the bow seating is, made possible by the twin hulls allowing the beam to be carried all the way forward while still allowing each hull to maintain a sharp wave-slicing forefoot. No one will knock knees sitting forward in this boat. The same applies to the main cockpit, with double-wide seats at the helm and portside consoles. The portside backrest is adjustable to create a rear-facing recliner. The port console also hides a spacious head. The transom sports an aft jump seat that folds out of the way for fishing. On that note, the livewell, coaming bolsters, fore and aft rod holders, insole fish boxes, and hardtop rod holders and outrigger mounts will satisfy any angling itch.

World Cat 280 DC-X Boat Test

Performance? We had plenty of tightly stacked 3-footers to contend with on test day, and the 280 DC-X handled them superbly whether we ran in head, following or quartering seas. In calmer waters, we hit a top speed of 46.5 mph at 5,500 rpm. Throttle back to 25 mph at 3,500 rpm and this boat has the range to run offshore all day.

Cats are not usually known for their dockside curb appeal, but the pickle-fork-bow look, frameless windshield design, sleek hardtop, rising sheer line and aft tumblehome give the 280 DC-X serious style points.

World Cat 280 DC-X Boat Test

High Points

  • Double-wide helm seat leaves room for a co-captain.
  • Huge bow cockpit is deep and secure.
  • Terrific water access from the aft platform thanks to the On-Ramp swim ladder between the two engines.
  • Optional SureShade is great for keeping guests cool but, even when retracted, makes it harder to access the hardtop rod holders.
  • A boat made to handle rough seas would do well to add fiddles to the head and entertainment-center counters.

Toughest Competitor Because it’s hard to find a comparable cat, take a look at a monohull like the Boston Whaler 270 Vantage ($222,309 with a Mercury 300 and joystick).

Outremer 4X

Production catamaran with customizable interior options should appeal to many.

I  think it’s accurate to say that the Gunboat fleet of very fast cruising cats opened up a new market for catamaran lovers. Now it’s not just about square footage but also comfort and speed. Newest in the Outremer fleet is the 4X designed by Barreau/Neuman with “consulting design” by Patrick le Quement and interior design by Darnet design. You can very quickly distinguish this big cat from the others by the large shallow, scooped out section in the topsides of the hulls. Why is it scooped out like that? Because someone thought it looked cool is my guess. You might be able to argue that it added some panel stiffness to the topsides but I doubt that’s why they did it. It looks good. In fact, this is a good-looking cat.

catamaran 4x cat 28

This cat is a bit proportionately heavier than the other two multis this month. The D/L is 107. But you should be cautious with this number until you know the load condition of each boat. Show me a cat that was floating high. I’ll wait. The L/B for this cat is 2.06. Draft is 6 feet 6 inches with daggerboard down and 3 feet 4 inches with boards up. The rudders are quite far forward in this design and there is a small skeg protecting the saildrive unit. While the Balance 620’s transom is well clear of the DWL, the Outremer’s transom is immersed. This may partially account for the higher D/L as the drawing may show the boat in a cruising condition load trim.

catamaran 4x cat 28

The 4X’s SA/D is a bit more tame than the other two multis. It’s 23.9 so it’s not low but neither is it blistering high. I used the self-tacking jib for that SA/D. The rig is all carbon. The cockpit is interesting in that it has the same type of elevated wheel steering position as does the Balance and maybe even more exposed. But if you swivel the helm seat around you can steer with a tiller! Not sure why you would but it can be done and from the video I watched it looked like fun. This could have something to do with why the rudders are so far forward.

That wraps up my three multihull reviews month. In some charter markets the cats are dominating now. People like not heeling.  For me heeling is just part of the game. But I have never gone multihull cruising, just a few shoots around the bay with my pal Doug on his tri. I like boats of all kinds when they show good attention to design. Our three examples this month show how far multihull design has come.

LOA 48’; LWL 48’ Beam 23’4”; Draft 3’4”-6’5”; Displ. 16,400 lbs.; Sail area 1,324; SA/D 23.9; D/L 107; L/B 2.06; Auxiliary twin Volvo D1-30; Fuel 88 gal.; Water 108 gal.

Central Spine for Stowage and Rigid Platform

Livewire 28 Central Spine

The central spine is  rigid structure that allows you to crank on the forestay and mainsheet tension for optimum upwind performance.

It serves as a secure storage pod for anchor and chain, and other items that need to readily accessible from the deck.

It’s also a great space for keeping  lazy sheets out of the way and it provides firm mounting base for the outboard auxiliary while concentrating the weight close to the centre of buoyancy.

If you’re running a screecher or Code Zero to windward the central spine provides the ideal platform for sheet blocks so you can rig a bridle or a barber hauler between the hull and the spine.

Aquila’s Wave-Taming 28 Molokai Power Cat

  • By Patrick Sciacca
  • May 3, 2022

Aquila 28 Molokai

The throttles hit the wall, and twin 200 hp Mercury outboards spooled up with dog-sees-squirrel urgency. The Aquila 28 Molokai Power Catamaran’s speed came quickly. Soon, Aquila brand manager Alain Raas and I were shooting across an aquamarine sea off Pompano Beach, Florida, at 40.5 knots. The feeling was more akin to flying over the water than riding atop it.

The 28 Molokai’s hull tunnel is wide and deep, creating a pocket of pillowlike air that provides a sense of liftoff. With a 34-gallon-per-hour fuel burn at its top speed, the 28 Molokai has a range of 160 nautical miles after considering a 10 percent reserve on its 150-gallon fuel capacity. Dial back the speed to a 28.7-knot cruise and fuel burn drops to 17 gph while range jumps to 227 nm.

Aquila 28 Molokai

In addition to offering speed and a stable ride, the 28 Molokai can be set up for the avid angler. Notable fishing features include two 94-gallon insulated fish boxes, a 30-gallon livewell, 15 rod holders and Taco outriggers. There is also a removable cutting board, a sink, pullout tackle boxes and undergunwale rod stowage. For live-bait fans, the bow’s cast-net space is about 4 feet wide with unimpeded room to throw.

Aquila 28 Molokai

If cruising locally is on the float plan, there are two forward-facing foldout seats aft in the cockpit. The seats measure 22 inches wide and 17 inches deep. The coaming lifts up, the seats fold down, and the coaming forms a backrest. The helm accommodates a skipper and companion. The forward section of the helm console has a built-in bench seat for two. A head is inside the console and accessed abaft the seat. There is another bench seat at the bow, and abaft it to port and starboard are two more lounges with removable backrests. All the cushions can be taken off when it’s a fish day.

Aquila 28 Molokai

For boaters who want more protection from the elements, the 28 Molokai is offered in a cuddy-cabin layout.

Sprinting across the water or sitting on the hook, the Aquila 28 Molokai is a solid blend of form and function.

28 Molokai Power Catamaran

Introducing the Aquila 28 Molokai. The incredible ride, inspired by native Hawaiian watercraft, is born from the rigors of island hopping in the tumultuous waters of the Pacific Ocean, making the Aquila 28 Molokai Power Catamaran perfectly suited for almost any boating condition.

The impressive stability and formidable ride along with the large aft and forward cockpits make the Aquila 28 Molokai ideally suited for offshore fishing with family and friends, tournament competition, and even professional charter sportfishing. And, although the Aquila 28 Molokai Power Catamaran is primarily designed as a fishing platform, family-friendly features abound.

When not being used for offshore fishing or diving, friends and family can enjoy other waterborne activities, including tow sports, or just relax onboard while visiting a favorite dockside restaurant, sand bar, or island. Lounge on the bow seating area or pull up the bow table and enjoy your favorite beverage at sunset with up to 10+ guests onboard.

Because the hulls are spaced wide apart, the broad stance makes it easy to walk around both sides of the center console. The position of the center console provides a 360-degree line of sight with controls strategically positioned for ease of operation. The extra-large console dash is designed to support two large multifunction displays along with the Mercury® engine monitoring displays and Fusion® sound system head unit.

The Molokai is truly a versatile boat that amplifies your boating lifestyle.

XCAT Sail Innovations

The XCAT Sailing model has everything you need to start harnessing the wind. Both sails and all the rigging are included. We strongly recommend the Sailing Equipment Set to take your XCAT sailing experience to the next level.

catamaran 4x cat 28

1  - Fully battened square-top mainsail creates a lot of power. This sail is looped onto the mast for easier mounting and so it can be stowed still attached to the mast while rowing.

2  - Large laminated window in the genoa allows for safe navigation regardless of what tack you are on.

3  - Forestay is cleated at the mast step. This allows you to drop the mast while on the water for easy passage under low bridges and powerlines.

4  - Trampoline is made of a Textiline mesh that automatically tensions when the trampoline is installed. This prevents the need for tedious and time consuming lacing.

5  - Color coded and marked trampoline speeds up assembly by removing the guesswork. Shroud blocks and shrouds are marked with their respective red and green coloring. The positioning for the genoa and mainsheet blocks are marked on the center beam.

6  - Full length hull keels afford leeway resistance to the XCAT without the unnecessary draft of daggerboards or a centerboard. The boat will float in 6 inches of water!

Not the right sailboat for you? Let’s find your perfect boat.

XCAT Sail Features & Benefits

The world’s first hard-hulled catamaran that can be transported on the roof of your car and assembled in 12 minutes—all without sacrificing quality or performance.

catamaran 4x cat 28

Lightweight Construction The XCAT hulls are made of an HDPE skin wrapped around EPP foam forms to create unsinkable but ultra-light hulls. Combined with the anodized aluminum frame and carbon mast, the XCAT weighs in at 165 pounds when rigged as a sailboat. The heaviest part of the boat are the hulls—at only 38 pounds each—which is lighter than most kayaks!

catamaran 4x cat 28

Continuous Line Furler An in-house designed endless loop genoa furler allows for easy reefing of the sail area when on the water. An endless loop furler allows you to easily furl and unfurl the sail regardless of wind direction and speed.

catamaran 4x cat 28

Safety as a Priority The XCAT was designed to be an expedition boat, which required a focus on durability and endurance. This translates to a day sailing beach cat that makes light work of foul weather. The XCAT rig has been tested to withstand conditions as high as a Beaufort 8. The mast float and mast with floatation inside makes sure this boat is quick and easy to right in the event of a capsize.

catamaran 4x cat 28

Built-In Heave-To Feature Most sailboats can heave-to without too much trouble, but many boats struggle to remain hove-to as the wind builds. On the XCAT, if you furl the genoa, hard sheet in the mainsail, let the rudder free and sit forward of the mast: the boat will sit within 5º of true wind direction and will average a half knot in reverse, regardless of wind speed. This is a fantastic feature for novice sailors or anyone who gets caught by a squall in open water.

catamaran 4x cat 28

OE Inboard Electric Motor Option The XCAT is the smallest production sailboat with an optional inboard motor! Whether you want the security of being able to get back home when the wind doesn't cooperate or the ability to short tack up a narrow river, the eProp is the perfect solution for any XCAT sailor!

catamaran 4x cat 28

Fast & Easy Assembly The XCAT assembles with no tools or hardware. There are audible *clicks* when things get attached or are tight. This lets you know that it is locked and ready. Once you are familiar with the process, assembly can be done in about 10-15 minutes. The Red Beard Record is seven minutes and thirty seconds.

catamaran 4x cat 28

Genoa with Barber Hauler Oversized 110% genoa allows for the XCAT to be rigged with a much shorter mast without sacrificing performance. This reduces heel in heavy winds and allows you to sail under bridges for which other other sailboats would have to de-mast. The centralized genoa cleats allow you to trim regardless of which side of the boat you are on. The barber hauler, typically seen on racing boats, allows you to haul the genoa clew closer to the centerline, allowing you to point higher on the wind.

catamaran 4x cat 28

Kick-up Rudder The anodized aluminum rudder is resilient and perfectly formed. There is a built in lifting and kick up feature. You can easily lift the rudder to clear any seaweed or for shallow waters.

catamaran 4x cat 28

Dyneema Shrouds Dyneema shrouds are lightweight, easy to store and still allow for an incredibly tight rig that is ready to withstand heavy winds. The shrouds feature a double shackle system where it attaches to the boat. This makes the XCAT easier to right from a capsize by lightweight sailors.

Our Gulf Bay and Tower Boats For Sale in Corpus Christi Offer High Performance and Superb Design

Our Clients Say

"When you fish with professional athletes and coaches for a living, you learn to deal with a maze of scheduling nightmares. Fishing dates must be set well in advance of weather reports, and often at the last minute you are left to Mother Nature to know what kind of trip you will take - inshore or offshore? And what boat will be needed? Fat Cat Boats out of Corpus Christi, Texas has solved the problem, with one boat to meet every angler's need.

Recently we fished East Matagorda Bay in some skinny water, and I witnessed some amazing hole shots in twelve to fourteen inches of water, which is an amazing feat when you take into consideration we were fishing out of a HV 26' Fat Cat with a 400 Mercury - now that's some weight. Passengers on the 26' were comfortable and at ease as the boat cut across the bay. The high performance design and handling technology on the Fat Cat made our trip smooth and easy.

One week later I was joined by New York Jets quarterback Bryce Petty and his dad, as we set off for an offshore trip 35 + miles out of Port O'Conner. Once again, the HV 26' Fat Cat was our ride to some of our favorite numbers. The thing that amazed me the most about this boat was its versatility. It can cut through the bays and scream offshore. In what should have been a two hour trip, we made the run in a little over 45 minutes. It was a high and dry ride setting us on fish much earlier than the competition.

In my experience of hosting Reel Time, I have been privileged to fish from Mexico to Florida on many exceptional boats. However the HV 26' Fat Cat is clearly the boat to handle the needs of your trip, whether inshore, offshore or whatever Mother Nature deals up.

Get there first,

Coach Mark Simpson"
