MSC Virtuosa: Cabins and Suites Guide (2024)

MSC Virtuosa Cabins & Suites Guide

Choosing a cabin or suite on a cruise ship is never easy!

When it comes to MSC Virtuosa there is a choice between seventeen different cabins and suites to choose from between 2,421 cabins (including 60 dedicated for guests with disabilities or reduced mobility).

In this guide, I have sourced all the information from my experience onboard MSC Virtuosa and MSC Cruises to bring you an easy-to-understand guide on the available cabins and suites.

Introduction

MSC Virtuosa is one of MSC Cruises’ latest ships – the Meraviglia-Plus class ship can carry a maximum capacity of 6,334 passengers – but this number is calculated based on every available berth on the ship being occupied (i.e. all bunk beds, sofa beds, etc) – this is rarely the case on any cruise ship!

All passenger cabins on MSC Virtuosa are located on Decks 5 and 8-16. Please remember that all photos and illustrations represent what they look like – some may be the opposite way around or laid out differently! Generally speaking though, they are all identical across the grades.

MSC Virtuosa ‘s accommodation works based on five different cabin types – which are then broken down into further sub-categories of cabins, but in essence, there are five types to choose from:

  • MSC Yacht Club

I will explain all the other types – but feel free just to select one and skip to it!

How many cabins are on MSC Virtuosa?

There are 2,421 cabins on MSC Virtuosa . They are configured as follows:

  • 15 Interior Studio Cabins
  • 728 Interior Cabins
  • 160 Ocean View Cabins
  • 1,322 Balcony Cabins
  • 8 Suites with whirlpool baths
  • 2 Grand Suites with whirlpool baths
  • 15 MSC Yacht Club Interior Suites
  • 77 MSC Yacht Club Deluxe Suites
  • 8 MSC Yacht Club Duplex Suites
  • 2 MSC Yacht Club Royal Suites
  • 59 Cabins for guests with disabilities or reduced mobility
  • 1 MSC Yacht Club Deluxe Suite for guests with disabilities or reduced mobility

Cabins by Description and Type

First, lets look at the cabin descriptions (as described on the MSC Cruises website and brochures) and what type of cabins they actually are.

You’ll see that they match standard cruise ship cabins, just slightly different naming. For example an ‘inside cabin’ is an ‘Interior Cabin’ with MSC Cruises.

Cabins by Size and Code

Now let us look at the sizing and coding.

Firstly, the sizing is made up of two parts (for the majority of cabins) – that is the floor space (including your bathroom) and the size of your balcony. Cabins without balconies have just one number listed.

The coding in the table relates to the grade of the cabin you have. There are multiple grades of the same cabin type (sounds confusing, I know!) but actually it is pretty straightforward.

For example, a Fantastica Deluxe Balcony comes in four grades:

  • BP – Partial View
  • BR1 – Cabins on decks 8-10
  • BR2 – Cabins on decks 11-12
  • BR3 – Cabins on decks 13-14

You’ll find the higher the number, the more expensive the grade is. Although usually it isn’t too much and is sometimes worth paying a little bit more for a better grade – as you may find more availability for your perfect location!

You’ll also find a Daily Planner delivered each day to your cabin that includes details of all activities on the ship and information on the port you are visiting.

Interior Cabins

Like on all cruise ships – interior cabins are the lowest grade of cabin – that doesn’t mean they are they are the worst though. For many, a cabin is just a place to get sleep and get ready and is perfect for any cruise – so let’s get started with more details about these cabins!

Studio Interior Cabin

The Studio Interior cabins are the smallest cabins available on the ship. This is because they are aimed at solo travellers! therefore they have a slightly reduced bed (140 x 200cm) compared to the other cabins on the ship.

MSC Virtuosa Studio Interior Cabin

  • Surface Area: Approx 12 sqm
  • Located: Decks 5-14
  • Number available: 16
  • Capacity: 1 Passenger

Deluxe Interior Cabin (IB/IR1/IR2)

The Deluxe Interior cabins are the standard inside cabins for two people and offer more space than the Studio Interior version.

MSC Virtuosa Deluxe Interior Cabin

  • Surface Area: 17 sqm
  • Number Available: 64+120
  • Capacity: 2-4 Passengers

Ocean View Cabins

MSC Cruises call the industry-standard ‘Outside’ cabins as ‘Ocean View’ which is a better name and makes more sense. In essence, it is a standard Interior cabin but with a large rectangle window – allowing in natural daylight and a view out to sea.

As standard with cabins of this category across all ships, the porthole will not open – you will need to circulate air via the air conditioning system.

Junior Ocean View with Obstructed View Cabin

The lowest category of Ocean View cabins are ones with obstructed views. This commonly means they are situated near/behind lifeboats and/or other ship equipment which is fixed to the side of the ship.

It is possible that this equipment may move during port days (i.e. window cleaning equipment) but it should be taken for granted that you will have an obstruction of some type from your view. This of course is reflected in the price too.

These cabins also offer a larger vanity desk area and a sofa bed, which can be converted into further berths if required.

MSC Virtuosa Junior Ocean View Cabin with obstructed view

  • Surface Area: 12 sqm
  • Located: Deck 8 only
  • Capacity: 2-6 Passengers

Junior Ocean View Cabin

These are the same as the previous type of cabin – but they offer no obstructed view and instead, you can see out to sea with ease!

MSC Virtuosa Junior Ocean View Cabin

Deluxe Ocean View Cabin

The Deluxe Ocean View Cabin offers more space than the Junior versions of this cabin type, allowing you some extra space – ideal if you are travelling with kids.

MSC Virtuosa Deluxe Ocean View Cabin

  • Surface Area: 16 sqm
  • Located: Deck 5 Only

Premium Ocean View Cabin

The highest category of this cabin type is the Premium Ocean View Cabin – it offers much more space and they are placed higher up on the ship, giving you a greater view out to sea.

MSC Virtuosa Premium Ocean View Cabin

  • Surface Area: 25 sqm
  • Located: Decks 9-11

Suggested reading:

Balcony cabins.

Breath in that sea air! A balcony cabin is a sure way of enjoying your cruise even more! The ability to have your own private outdoor space at all times can be wonderful on busier voyages or if you just really want a secluded hideaway with a good book!

Thankfully, MSC Virtuosa has a huge amount of cabins that have a balcony – in fact, over 70% of the ship are balcony cabins to choose from (and even more suites with balconies too!)

Studio Balcony Cabin (BS)

The ship offers a small number of solo passenger balcony cabins – rare for most ships, these are perfect for solo travellers or a single-family member travelling with a larger family.

MSC Virtuosa Studio Balcony Cabin

  • Balcony Area: 4 sqm
  • Located: Decks 13-14

Deluxe Balcony with Partial View Cabin (BP)

The partial-view cabins are ideal if you want the outside space to get some fresh air, but are not totally bothered about having a view. Partial view cabins are usually obstructed either by some machinery fitted externally to the ship, or, lifeboats (or a mixture of both) – they usually differ, so there isn’t a standard ‘partial view’ as such.

MSC Virtuosa Deluxe Balcony with Partial View Cabin

  • Balcony Area: 6-8 sqm
  • Location: Decks 8-14

Deluxe Balcony Cabin (BB/BR1/BR2/BR3)

This cabin is your ‘standard balcony cabin’ that most people will opt for (and the most numerous on the ship) – they are available across a number of decks and differ in price based on if you choose low, mid or high deck. Whichever you choose is down to personal preference – they are all the same size.

You will see some cabins listed as Bella Balcony or Fantastica Balcony – there is no difference in these other than position on the ship (and additional perks in the experience)

MSC Virtuosa Deluxe Balcony Cabin

Balcony Aurea Cabin (BA)

Like the previous category, these cabins offer a superb balcony with great sea views and are wonderful for watching the ship arrive or leave a port – or just hanging out on during a sea day!

This configuration of cabin doesn’t come with any other different physical features, but is often placed in better locations on the ship.

MSC Virtuosa Balcony Aurea Cabin

  • Location: Decks 11-13

For those who want extra room, perhaps travelling with a larger party or just want to splash out on something special, the suites on MSC Virtuosa should not be missed!

The suites range from extra space (in the suite and balcony) to duplex suites with terraces and some even come with their own private whirlpools!

Premium Suite Aurea

These suites are ideal for a family with kids or teenagers. The suite is larger than your standard balcony cabin and has a private area (curtained off) with a set of bunk beds – just opposite the bathroom. You’ll also find a larger balcony with some of these suites.

MSC Virtuosa Premium Suite Aurea (connecting cabin shown)

  • Balcony Area: 3-14 sqm
  • Location: Decks 9-14
  • Number Available: 24

Premium Suite Aurea with terrace and whirlpool

This version of the Premium Suite Aurea comes with its own larger balcony (or terrace as it is called) and are generally at the front of the ship, offering a curved frontage.

These suites come with their own lounge area with a sofa, table and chairs. Additionally, they have their own private whirlpool which is located outside offering views out to sea – could that sound any more amazing?!

MSC Virtuosa Premium Suite Aurea with terrace and whirlpool

  • Surface Area: 27 sqm
  • Balcony Area: 26-30 sqm
  • Location: Decks 9-13

Grand Suite Aurea with terrace and whirlpool

This is a bigger version of the previous suite!

Offering a much larger suite and a much larger balcony/terrace (with private whirlpool) you’ll find these suites only on one deck (12) but they are massive – ideal for longer cruises!

MSC Virtuosa Grand Suite Aurea with terrace and whirlpool

  • Surface Area: 39 sqm
  • Balcony Area: 36 sqm
  • Location: Deck 12

MSC Yacht Club Suites

At the very top end of MSC Virtuosa, there is the MSC Yacht Club. MSC Cruises describe this as a ‘ship within a ship’ and they are not wrong! Many passengers choose to sail in MSC Yacht Club and some rarely leave the area throughout most of the cruise.

MSC Yacht Club comes with a different set of benefits that other MSC Experiences offer (such as Bella, Fantastica or Aurea) and you’ll find you have access to your own private butler, 24/7 private concierge, Yacht Club bar, restaurant, buffet and outdoor grill area.

MSC Yacht Club is accessed by keycard only and limited to a number of passengers. Each of the exclusive 103 suites (there are no cabins!) is larger in size than others on the rest of the ship and ranges from an Interior Suite to the Royal Suites.

MSC Yacht Club Interior Suite (YCI)

The entry-level suite in MSC Yacht Club is the Interior Suite – this well-appointed suite offers you the luxury of an upgraded bathroom, vanity area and suite-only fixtures.

MSC Yacht Club Interior Suite

  • Location: Decks 14-16 (front of the ship only, within MSC Yacht Club)
  • Number Available: 15
  • Capacity: 2 Passengers

MSC Yacht Club Deluxe Suite (YC1)

The Deluxe Suite offers the same as the Interior Suite but has a balcony and a spacious sitting area with a sofa.

MSC Yacht Club Deluxe Suite

  • Surface Area: 29 sqm
  • Balcony Area: Approx 5 sqm
  • Location: Decks 14-18 (front of the ship only, within MSC Yacht Club)
  • Number Available: 78

MSC Yacht Club Duplex Suite with whirlpool (YCP)

Taking it up another level, there are suites within MSC Yacht Club that offer their own private whirlpool. These are similar to the suites that have a whirlpool in Aurea, however, they are duplex (split-level) – giving you much more room than most suites.

Downstairs they offer a private dining area and a separate bathroom (and wardrobe), with outside access to the private whirlpool.

MSC Yacht Club Duplex Suite with whirlpool

  • Surface Area: 59 sqm
  • Balcony Area: approx 23 sqm
  • Location: Decks 9-12
  • Number Available: 8

MSC Yacht Club Royal Suite (YC3)

The very best accommodation on the ship is a pair of Royal Suites within the MSC Yacht Club.

These exclusive suites allow you to live like a King (or Queen!) for the duration of your cruise and you won’t want to leave when you have stayed here. They offer the features of the whirlpool suite, however, everything is on one deck (rather than a duplex) and there is a larger balcony area.

MSC Yacht Club Royal Suite

  • Surface Area: 58 sqm
  • Balcony Area: 70 sqm
  • Location: Deck 15 only (within MSC Yacht Club)
  • Number Available: 2

MSC Virtuosa Family Cabins & Suites

These days, cruise ships cater much better to families than previously. You’ll find 190 different cabins and suites which are available to be booked together and offer an interconnecting door between them (and you’ll end up with an extra-wide balcony!)

  • Super Family: Combination of two connected balcony cabins – together can fit up to six people (three people in each)
  • Super Family Plus: Combination of two connected suites – together can fit up to twelve people (six people in each)

See the deck plan for the symbol for Connecting Staterooms and also the symbols for bunk beds.

These cabins usually go fairly quickly when bookings open – so make sure your reserve yours sooner than later.

Note: Cabins 13265, 13376, 14235 and 14278 have bunk beds only (for 3rd/4th passengers)

MSC Virtuosa Cabins Frequently Asked Questions

Are there kettles in cabins on MSC Virtuosa?

Yes. There are kettles in all cabins and suites when MSC Virtuosa is sailing from Southampton.

What decks are cabins on MSC Virtuosa?

Deck 5 and Decks 8-16.

What is the difference between a Bella or Fantastica Balcony cabin?

There is no difference other than location. The MSC experiences offer different onboard amenities.

Does MSC Virtuosa have a Yacht Club?

Yes. The MSC Yacht Club is located at the front of the ship between decks 14-19.

Can I bring food on an MSC Cruise?

You can’t bring food onto an MSC Cruises ship. You can bring some snacks during embarkation, but food, in general, is not permitted.

Can I bring alcohol on an MSC Cruise?

You can’t bring alcohol onto MSC Cruises ships.

Do you pay for shows on MSC Virtuosa?

No. The shows in the main theatre are free (you just need to prebook each day, but there are some walk-in seats available too). The ship has a second theatre called the Carousel Lounge that offers two paid-for shows throughout most cruises.

Final Thoughts

Choosing a cabin or suite on a cruise ship is probably the second hardest thing to do after picking your itinerary.

However, with the right information, you can be sure to pick the exact type of accommodation that suits you!

There is no right or wrong choice in picking a cabin; some people prefer inside cabins because they only sleep/get changed in them – and use the savings for other things on their cruise (or a longer cruise!).

Others prefer a balcony so they always have a view of where they are and have their own private outdoor space – but it is totally a personal preference on what you pick.

Thankfully, MSC Virtuosa has many choices available for all passengers!

Detailed Reviews of Stateroom & Suite Categories

Interior cabins.

Onboard MSC Virtuosa, guests are presented with a range of accommodation options across various classes and cabin grades, carefully crafted to cater to diverse preferences and budgets.

Deluxe Interior Cabins : Designed to offer a blend of practicality and comfort, the inside cabins on MSC Virtuosa provide a cosy retreat for guests who prefer an interior room option. Available in both Bella and Fantastica classes, these cabins boast generous dimensions, measuring 182 square feet, providing ample space for guests to move around and settle in comfortably. With modern and uncluttered décor, these cabins feature efficient storage solutions, including wardrobes, drawers, and space under the bed to stow luggage.

While both Bella and Fantastica cabins offer the same size and layout, Fantastica cabins enjoy additional benefits such as priority dining reservations and free room service, along with more preferable locations on the ship.

MSC Yacht Club Interior Cabins : For those seeking an elevated level of luxury, the MSC Yacht Club Interior suites offer an exclusive and opulent experience. Despite sharing the same physical space as standard inside cabins, these suites provide a heightened level of service and amenities. Guests staying in the Yacht Club enjoy access to private areas like the Top Sail Lounge and the Yacht Club Restaurant, along with butler service to attend to their needs. With upscale interior design and premium finishes, these cabins exude luxury and sophistication, making them an ideal choice for discerning travellers.

Overall Comfort and Practicality: Despite the lack of natural light, the inside cabins on MSC Virtuosa are thoughtfully designed to maximise comfort and functionality. Effective lighting systems create a welcoming atmosphere, while high-quality bedding ensures a restful night’s sleep. The compact yet efficiently laid-out bathroom features a shower with a glass door, toilet, and ample storage for toiletries, contributing to a comfortable and enjoyable stay for guests.

MSC Euribia Deluxe Ocean View - MSC Cruises

Ocean View Cabins

The Ocean View cabins aboard MSC Virtuosa offer guests the delightful experience of waking up to panoramic sea views directly from their room, adding a touch of charm to their cruising adventure. Available in several types, each with its unique space allocations and amenities, these cabins cater to various preferences and needs. However, it’s essential to note that the starting size of these cabins, at 129 square feet, is notably smaller than the industry average for outside cabin types, which typically spans around 180 square feet.

Junior Ocean View Cabins : The Junior Ocean View cabins, the most compact among the Ocean View options, provide a practical and straightforward cruising experience. Measuring at 129 square feet, these cabins are snug for two passengers sharing. They feature a small window offering natural light and ocean views, efficiently designed to maximise available space. With under-bed storage and small wardrobes, these cabins are best suited for solo travellers or couples who prioritise affordability alongside a view of the sea. However, packing light is advisable due to limited space.

Deluxe Ocean View Cabins : Stepping up in size, the Deluxe Ocean View cabins offer more room and additional storage. At 172 square feet, these cabins provide a comfortable setting for two people, featuring slightly more expansive wardrobe space and a sitting area beside the window. Ideal for couples or solo travellers seeking a bit more room and comfort, these cabins offer a moderate price point with the added benefit of ocean views. The bathrooms in these cabins are as spacious and practical as those found in balcony cabins.

Premium Ocean View Cabins : The Premium Ocean View cabins represent the largest and most practical of the Ocean View options aboard MSC Virtuosa. Spanning 269 square feet, these cabins are significantly more spacious and well-equipped with extensive storage facilities, including larger wardrobes and ample drawer space. With a more relaxed seating area by the window, these cabins are an excellent choice for guests who may spend more time relaxing in their cabin or for families or small groups. Capable of accommodating up to six passengers through the use of sofa beds, pullmans, and single beds provided, the Premium Ocean View cabins offer spacious comfort, making them ideal for families on longer cruises.

Recommendations for Each Type of Cruiser:

Junior Ocean View Cabins : Best suited for budget-conscious solo travellers or couples who require minimal space and spend most of their time enjoying the ship’s facilities.

Deluxe Ocean View Cabins : Ideal for those seeking a balance between cost and comfort, suitable for couples or solo travellers looking for a bit more room to move.

Premium Ocean View Cabins : Perfect for cruisers who appreciate spacious accommodation, families with small children, or those embarking on longer journeys seeking enhanced comfort.

Deluxe Balcony Cabins

MSC Virtuosa offers a range of balcony cabin options, with the Deluxe Balcony Cabins providing an enticing blend of comfort, functionality, and added amenities. These cabins present guests with a private outdoor space to relish the sea breeze and breathtaking views, significantly enriching the cruise experience. Here’s an in-depth exploration of the various types of Deluxe Balcony Cabins, detailing their layout, amenities, and suitability for different types of cruisers.

Studio Balcony Cabin : Tailored specifically for solo travellers, the Studio Balcony Cabin maximises its 129 square feet of interior space to deliver comfort without sacrificing functionality. The standout feature is the 43 square foot balcony, which serves as an expansive extension to the living area. It’s important to note that these cabins utilise a sofa bed instead of a traditional bed, which may not suit everyone’s preference. However, the cabin provides standard storage options such as under-sofa storage and a compact wardrobe, making it ideal for solo travellers valuing privacy and their own outdoor sanctuary.

Deluxe Balcony Cabin : Offering a more spacious interior at 182 square feet, the Deluxe Balcony Cabin provides ample room for a comfortable stay. While slightly below the industry average of 197 square feet for balcony cabins, these cabins are thoughtfully designed with a full-size bed, a sitting area, and sufficient storage including wardrobes and drawers. The 43 square foot balcony features seating, perfect for enjoying serene mornings or picturesque sunsets. Available in both Bella and Fantastica classes, the latter offers additional benefits such as enhanced deck placement and priority booking for dining and shows. These cabins are suitable for couples or solo travellers seeking enhanced space and comfort during their voyage.

Aurea Deluxe Balcony Cabin : The Aurea Deluxe Balcony Cabin, akin in interior size to the standard Deluxe, boasts a larger balcony measuring 64 square feet. This additional outdoor space elevates the cabin to a more luxurious level, providing ample room to unwind and soak in panoramic views. Guests residing in Aurea cabins enjoy premium amenities and privileges, including complimentary access to the MSC Aurea Spa, free room service, and entry to the Top19 Sundeck. This cabin type is ideal for those desiring additional luxuries and seeking a pampered cruising experience.

Additional Amenities: All types of Deluxe Balcony Cabins on MSC Virtuosa are furnished with interactive TVs offering extra charge movies on demand, enhancing in-room entertainment options. The bathrooms in these cabins are efficiently designed with shower facilities featuring a glass door, ensuring a modern and comfortable experience. Ample storage space is provided for toiletries, complemented by modern fixtures, enhancing the overall convenience and comfort of the cabin experience.

Is MSC Yacht Club Worth The Money?

Undoubtedly, MSC Yacht Club aboard MSC Virtuosa offers a superior cruise experience, distinguished as a significantly more luxurious option compared to the ship’s lower grades. Exclusive access to private areas such as the Yacht Club restaurant, Top Sail Lounge, and Yacht Club Sundeck, alongside perks like butler service and a dedicated concierge, encapsulates a distinctive ‘ship within a ship’ concept that elevates the cruising experience.

However, when compared to the elite offerings of Celebrity’s Retreat and Cunard’s Queens Grill, MSC Yacht Club falls slightly short in luxury standards. These comparisons underscore areas where MSC Yacht Club could enhance its services, such as culinary offerings and exceptional service tailored to the discerning cruiser.

Nevertheless, considering the price differential, MSC Yacht Club delivers considerable value by offering many elements of a luxury cruise at a more accessible price point. Implementing enhancements such as complimentary Champagne on arrival, upgrading the culinary experience, and adding luxury toiletries and a daily afternoon tea service in the suites could further elevate the experience and compete more robustly with higher-priced competitors.

In conclusion, MSC Yacht Club offers an excellent upscale cruising option with significant value. Implementing these enhancements could help it stand out as a fantastic choice for those seeking a refined and indulgent cruise experience aboard MSC Virtuosa.

Highlight: Best Accommodation Option for Families

For families considering a cruise on MSC Virtuosa, choosing the right accommodation is crucial for ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Among the array of cabin types available, the Premium Ocean View Cabin emerges as an outstanding option, especially for families seeking a blend of space, comfort, and scenic views. Here’s an in-depth review and recommendation on why the Premium Ocean View Cabin is highly recommended for family stays.

Size and Layout : Accommodating up to 6 passengers, the Premium Ocean View Cabin on MSC Virtuosa offers a generous 269 square feet of space. This size is significantly larger than standard ocean view or inside cabins, providing families with ample room to unwind without feeling confined. The extra space is particularly advantageous for families with children, allowing for separate sleeping areas and giving youngsters room to play indoors. The layout is carefully crafted to maximize space utilization, incorporating designated areas for storage, sleeping, and leisure activities.

View and Light : One of the most appealing aspects of the Premium Ocean View Cabin is its large window, flooding the room with natural light and offering expansive vistas of the ocean. This feature can greatly enhance the cruising experience, providing a tranquil backdrop and fostering a continuous connection to the sea. The panoramic view not only entertains but also contributes to a sense of spaciousness within the cabin.

Comfort and Amenities : Furnished with high-quality fittings and boasting a larger bathroom compared to most other cabins, the Premium Ocean View Cabin delivers a superior level of comfort. The bathroom is particularly crucial for families, typically featuring enhanced amenities and more space, thereby facilitating smoother and less chaotic daily routines. Additionally, the cabin is equipped with premium bedding and a selection of pillows, ensuring a restful night’s sleep for all family members.

Storage Space : Sufficient storage capacity is indispensable when travelling with family, and the Premium Ocean View Cabin excels in this regard. It offers ample wardrobe space, numerous drawers, and additional storage options, enabling families to keep their belongings neatly organized and easily accessible, thereby minimizing clutter and stress throughout the cruise.

Value for Money : Despite being larger and better equipped than standard cabins, the Premium Ocean View Cabin often comes at a more affordable price point than suites. This makes it a cost-effective option for families seeking extra space and comfort while remaining mindful of their budget. The cabin provides many of the advantages associated with higher-tier accommodations, such as scenic views and abundant space, without the premium price tag typically associated with a suite.

Tips for Choosing the Best Stateroom or Suite

  • Determine Your Budget : Start by establishing your budget for your MSC Virtuosa cruise. From economical Inside Cabins to luxurious MSC Yacht Club suites, MSC Virtuosa offers a range of options to suit different budgets. Knowing your budget upfront will help you narrow down your choices effectively, allowing you to find the right balance between cost and comfort.
  • Consider Cabin Location : The location of your cabin can impact your onboard experience. If you’re prone to motion sickness, consider selecting a cabin midship on a lower deck, as these areas tend to experience less movement. For convenience, opt for a cabin near key amenities such as elevators, pools, or dining areas. However, be cautious of cabins located below the Lido Deck or near entertainment venues, as these areas may experience higher noise levels.
  • Prioritise Your View : Decide whether having a view is important to you. If you enjoy ocean vistas, consider booking a Balcony Cabin or an Ocean View Cabin. Alternatively, if you’re looking to save money, an Inside Cabin provides a more cost-effective option, albeit without natural light or views.
  • Assess Space Requirements : Consider how much space you’ll need, especially if you’re travelling with family or embarking on a longer voyage. Suites on MSC Virtuosa offer more living space and additional perks, making them ideal for extended stays. Family Suites or Aurea Suites are particularly spacious and come with added benefits to enhance your cruise experience.
  • Evaluate Balcony Options : If having a private outdoor space is essential for you, compare the balcony sizes across different cabin categories. While Balcony Cabins offer a good balance of price and amenity, suites often feature larger balconies suitable for private sunbathing or outdoor dining.
  • Review Amenities and Perks : Different cabin categories on MSC Virtuosa offer varying levels of amenities and perks. For instance, booking within the MSC Yacht Club not only provides luxurious suite accommodation but also exclusive access to private areas, dedicated service, and all-inclusive dining. Consider which amenities are important to you and whether they justify the additional cost.
  • Study the Deck Plans : Take the time to review the deck plans available on the MSC Cruises website before making your booking. This will help you understand each cabin’s location relative to the ship’s facilities and ensure you choose a cabin that meets your accessibility and convenience needs.
  • Seek Reviews and Expert Advice : Look for reviews from past guests who have stayed in the type of cabin you’re considering on MSC Virtuosa. Their feedback can offer valuable insights and practical advice. Additionally, consulting with a travel agent specializing in cruises can provide personalized recommendations and potentially secure you a better deal or an upgrade.

By considering these factors, you can make an informed decision and select a cabin on MSC Virtuosa that enhances your cruising experience, ensuring comfort and satisfaction throughout your journey.

On MSC Virtuosa, a diverse range of cabins and suites caters to various preferences and budgets, each contributing uniquely to the cruising experience. From the budget-friendly Inside Cabins to the luxurious MSC Yacht Club suites, passengers have the freedom to select accommodations that align with their needs, preferences, and financial considerations.

For those who can afford it, upgrading to the MSC Yacht Club is highly recommended. Despite any minor imperfections, it undoubtedly elevates the cruise experience. The Yacht Club offers exclusivity and luxury, granting access to private areas like the Yacht Club restaurant, lounge, and sun deck. This concept of a ‘ship within a ship’ significantly enhances comfort and convenience, providing a serene retreat from the bustling crowds elsewhere on the ship. The inclusion of personalised butler service and all-inclusive benefits further enhances the appeal, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a refined and secluded cruise experience.

For passengers who find the MSC Yacht Club beyond their budget, MSC Aurea offers a commendable alternative. Aurea guests enjoy privileges such as a dedicated dining venue, complimentary access to the MSC Aurea Spa, and exclusive use of the Top 19 Sundeck. These perks offer a taste of luxury and additional privacy at a more affordable price point, making it an attractive option for those seeking to enhance their cruise experience without the premium cost of the Yacht Club.

In conclusion, while each cabin category on MSC Virtuosa has its advantages, upgrading to the MSC Yacht Club, if financially feasible, is advisable for a truly elevated cruising experience. For those seeking a step up from standard cabin options without breaking the bank, the Aurea experience strikes a delightful balance of comfort, exclusivity, and value, ensuring that every passenger can find their ideal accommodation aboard MSC Virtuosa.

MSC VIRTUOSA

MSC Virtuosa's namesake comes from the word virtuoso, meaning "someone highly skilled in any field of activity", and so MSC Virtuosa was named to pay homage to the skill and expertise of the MSC Cruises architects and shipyard partners at Chantiers de l'Atlantique who designed and built this innovative class of ships.

MSC Virtuosa, along with her sister ships MSC Meraviglia, MSC Bellissima, MSC Grandiosa and MSC Euribia, belongs to the “Meraviglia Class”, where the impressive array of onboard experiences come together in perfect harmony with the space and the destinations, to deliver the ultimate cruise holiday experience.

What is the MSC Yacht Club? Take a look at MSC Cruises’ luxury suite area

Ashley Kosciolek

MSC Cruises sails nearly two dozen beautiful ships from home ports around the world, but their inviting sun decks can be crowded, and you're likely to encounter queues for dinner, shows and guest services.

The trick to creating a more luxurious experience on this big-ship cruise line is to book a stay in the line's Yacht Club. This upscale enclave within MSC Cruises ' larger ships offers guests more spacious accommodations, butler service and dedicated restaurants and lounges — even coffee delivered to your room each morning, just the way you like it.

Because of the Yacht Club , MSC can offer an inviting experience for cruisers who like big-ship cruising but crave more elevated accommodations, dining and amenities. MSC Cruises was one of the first lines to introduce this ship-within-a-ship concept, along with Norwegian Cruise Line . Now other popular cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean , also have adopted it.

The Yacht Club section on several of MSC Cruises' ships offers gated access to semi-private dining, butler service and more, but it comes at a price. Find out how much you can expect to pay and what you'll get for your money.

msc yacht club deluxe suite virtuosa

  • MSC Bellissima
  • MSC Euribia
  • MSC Fantasia
  • MSC Grandiosa
  • MSC Meraviglia
  • MSC Preziosa
  • MSC Seascape.
  • MSC Seashore.
  • MSC Seaside
  • MSC Seaview
  • MSC Splendida
  • MSC Virtuosa

Upcoming vessel MSC World America (2025) also will have the Yacht Club.

MSC Yacht Club cabins

msc yacht club deluxe suite virtuosa

All accommodations in the Yacht Club are labeled as suites, even though they comprise some standard cabin types. The specific stateroom types offered will vary by ship, but in general, they range from windowless interior cabins and deluxe balcony rooms to Executive and Royal Suites with more space, walk-in closets and bathrooms with both showers and bathtubs.

msc yacht club deluxe suite virtuosa

New to the fleet with the line's World Class are 1,600-square-foot Owner Suites, which include multi-room layouts, walk-in closets, bathtubs and balconies, each with a whirlpool and alfresco dining area.

Also new are Duplex Suites, offering two decks of space, with the bedroom and bathroom upstairs and a dining area, living room and guest bath downstairs. These also include two private sun decks with loungers, one of which boasts a whirlpool.

How much does it cost to stay in the MSC Yacht Club?

msc yacht club deluxe suite virtuosa

As you might expect, the cost to stay in the Yacht Club depends on several factors, including cabin type, the length of the sailing and where you're going and when. However, in line with the rest of the brand's pricing, a stay in the Yacht Club is an excellent value when you compare it to stays in other lines' dedicated suite areas or to luxury cruise prices.

I priced out several sailings departing over the next two years on some of the line's newest and largest ships. This is what was available at press time. (Note: MSC Cruises' website will only allow me to choose a general Yacht Club designation when booking. That means a guaranteed suite within the Yacht Club, but you won't know what type it is until closer to sailing.)

  • 7-night Caribbean and Bahamas cruise on MSC Seascape: $6,538 (including taxes) for two adults, round trip from Miami, March 16-23, 2024
  • 11-night Bermuda, Canada and New England cruise on MSC Meraviglia: $9,958 (including taxes) for two adults, round trip from Brooklyn, New York, Sept. 25-Oct. 6, 2024

Everything you need to know about MSC Cruises cabins and suites

A relative newcomer in the North American market, MSC Cruises is equal parts elegant and kitschy. The line tends to appeal to a wide swath of cruisers, from Europeans who like to party into the wee hours of the morning to American families who book because of affordable fares and "kids sail free" pricing.

To satisfy its diverse passenger base, MSC offers accommodations to fit all types of travelers. Rooms include inexpensive inside cabins that sleep two people, midlevel staterooms with windows and balconies, and high-end suites that offer cruisers with larger budgets a private oasis in the form of the MSC Yacht Club .

A variety of connecting rooms and cabins with extra bunks accommodate larger groups and families who wish to share space.

Because your cruise cabin will be your home away from home for several days, it's important to book one that fits your needs. That's especially true if you're sharing it with several people.

Whether you're looking at an inside cabin for a cruise with friends, balcony accommodations for you and your significant other or a suite for your family, here TPG breaks down what you can expect when you book a room on one of MSC's ships.

MSC Cruises cabin primer

MSC Cruises has become one of the fastest-growing lines in the cruise industry, with about two dozen ships in its fleet. The vessels fall into six classes : Lirica, Musica, Fantasia, Meraviglia, Seaside and World.

Although cabin offerings can vary from ship to ship and class to class, the standard types remain the same: inside, outside, balcony and suite.

Additionally, you'll find the same basic amenities in each room, unless otherwise noted below. They include two twin beds that can be joined to form a queen- or king-size bed; an in-cabin bathroom with a shower, a sink, a toilet and basic soap, shower gel and shampoo; a couple of nightstands; a chair or sofa; a desk/vanity; a closet; a safe; a hair dryer; a minifridge; a phone; USB outlets and a selection of both North American and European outlets.

On all ships except MSC Lirica, MSC Opera, MSC Sinfonia and MSC Armonia, you'll also find an interactive TV that allows you to view the daily schedule, check your onboard account and choose from a selection of live TV programs and movies.

Twice-daily room tidying is provided by a room steward assigned to each cabin, and room service is available throughout the day for an added fee.

One confusing aspect of MSC's bookings is that you'll have to select an experience package in addition to a cabin type. Package tiers determine things like your ability to choose a specific cabin and preferred dining time and whether you'll receive welcome amenities in your room. Certain cabin types are only available in conjunction with certain package experiences and vice versa. Those are noted in each respective section below.

Accessible cabins , including accommodations for wheelchair users, are available on every ship in MSC's fleet. In addition to more space, they feature wider doorways and lowered sinks and toilets in the bathrooms, as well as grab bars.

MSC Cruises' experience packages

Here's what you get when you book each of MSC's three experience packages, which determine the perks you'll receive on your sailing.

  • Accommodations
  • Complimentary food in the dining room and buffet
  • Broadway-style theater entertainment
  • Access to the onboard gym, pool and kids club
  • MSC Voyagers Club points
  • One for-fee change to your cruise booking (with some restrictions)
  • Drink package discount at time of booking
  • All Bella perks
  • Choice of specific cabin and location
  • One free change to your cruise booking (with some restrictions)
  • Ability to choose between early and late seating for dinner
  • Room service (complimentary for breakfast, but fees apply for other meals)
  • Discount on pre-cruise specialty dining package
  • All Fantastica and Bella perks
  • Flexible My Choice dining, which lets you eat at any time you choose between set hours
  • Free 24-hour room service delivery
  • Pillow menu
  • A welcome package, including Prosecco and chocolates
  • Complimentary access to your ship's solarium and thermal area
  • A 10% discount on all spa treatments purchased on board
  • Special Balinese massage offer when booked pre-cruise
  • Complimentary use of bathrobe and slippers
  • Priority boarding and luggage drop-off

Inside cabins on MSC Cruises ships

Inside cabins — rooms with no windows — are available on all ships in the MSC fleet. Ranging from 140 to 301 square feet (depending on the ship), they make for great sleeping because they're so dark. They're also ideal for passengers who are on a budget.

In addition to the standard amenities mentioned above, they provide room for anywhere from two to four passengers to sleep. (Rooms that sleep more than two feature bunks that pull down from the ceiling.)

These cabins are available with the line's Bella and Fantastica experiences.

If you're sailing solo, some MSC vessels offer cabins for one outfitted with a twin bed that converts into a couch. These interior studio accommodations are only available with the Bella package on MSC Meraviglia , MSC Bellissima and the line's World Class ships.

Ocean-view cabins on MSC Cruises ships

Ocean-view rooms are similar to insides in that they provide basic amenities — but with a view.

Offering 129 to 269 square feet of space (depending on the specific ship and ocean-view category), these staterooms allow you to see outside through a porthole or a window that doesn't open.

MSC's outside cabins are available to passengers who book Bella and Fantastica packages.

Additionally, if you're traveling with your family or another group, several of MSC Cruises' ships — particularly those in the Meraviglia and Seaside classes — feature space for as many as 10 passengers via a series of connecting rooms. Options are available at the ocean-view and balcony levels.

Balcony cabins on MSC Cruises ships

You might be surprised to discover that most of MSC Cruises' balcony cabins provide less interior square footage than what's available in inside or ocean-view staterooms.

Balcony rooms run anywhere from 129 to 205 square feet, but their key feature is, of course, a private balcony, which does add an extra 32 to 129 square feet, depending on the vessel and specific type of balcony room booked. These cabins are bookable in conjunction with MSC's Bella, Fantastica and Aurea experiences.

Although balcony cabins offer upgraded amenities, including MSC's brand of hand lotion and toiletries, they are largely the same as inside and ocean-view accommodations.

MSC's newest ships — including those in the Meraviglia, Seaside and World Classes — house connecting balcony rooms that can sleep up to 10 in the same group traveling together.

Additionally, on its World Class ships, the line has introduced inward-facing balconies, similar to the ones Royal Caribbean pioneered in 2009 with the debut of its Oasis Class vessels . On World Europa, for example, they overlook the ship's promenade, offering views of the activity below, rather than the ocean.

MSC Cruises suites

All ships in MSC's fleet have suites that can be booked as part of the Fantastica and Aurea packages, but it's Aurea that offers the largest number of perks, as outlined above.

The several types of suites vary by ship in terms of size and amenities. Some come with balconies, while others only offer floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows.

Junior Suites

Although this room type is listed as a suite, it's essentially a balcony cabin with a bit more space — 183 square feet of interior accommodation with a balcony that ranges from 140 to 183 square feet.

Standard suites include rooms with huge balconies larger than the cabin's interior space and ones with private whirlpool tubs. They run from 269 to 355 square feet, with balconies measuring 32 to 409 square feet.

Grand Suites

Coming in between 377 and 420 square feet, with balconies spanning from 32 to 495 square feet, Grand Suites — found on Seaside and World Class ships — come in two types. They include standard one-bedroom Grand Suites, as well as two-bedroom varieties.

The latter has one bedroom with a queen-size bed and another with two twins. It sleeps up to five passengers and offers two bathrooms — one with a shower and the other with a bathtub.

While most suites are designed for double occupancy, some suite accommodations on MSC Bellissima, MSC Grandiosa, MSC Virtuosa and MSC Magnifica can sleep up to five people.

MSC Yacht Club suites on MSC ships

All cabins located in the MSC Yacht Club — an exclusive, gated area on select ships — are called suites, even the smallest and least expensive, which don't have windows or balconies.

Yacht Club suite types range from insides to two-deck duplexes, all of which come with butler and concierge services, luxuriously appointed furnishings (such as real marble finishes, memory foam mattresses and Egyptian cotton sheets) and access to members-only restaurants, bars (alcohol is free there), lounges, pools and sun decks.

The Yacht Club features seven different types of rooms. Ships that have the MSC Yacht Club on board include MSC Bellissima, MSC Divina, MSC Fantasia, MSC Grandiosa, MSC Meraviglia, MSC Preziosa, MSC Seaside, MSC Seascape, MSC Seaview, MSC Seashore, MSC Splendida, MSC Virtuosa and MSC World Europa.

Note: Not all Yacht Clubs have the same suite types available.

MSC Yacht Club Interior Suites

Although these 161- to 226-square-foot cabins don't offer a view or fresh air, they are elegantly decorated and include all the Yacht Club benefits mentioned above.

MSC Yacht Club Deluxe Suites

These Yacht Club digs are the equivalent of a balcony cabin — but in a dedicated area that includes all the exclusive perks. They run 236 to 366 square feet and have balconies ranging from 54 to 86 square feet, so they also come with a bit more space, both inside and outdoors.

MSC Yacht Club Deluxe Grand Suites

Similarly, Deluxe Grand Suites are like the Yacht Club equivalent of booking a Grand Suite with more perks. Depending on the ship, they offer anywhere from 269 to 463 square feet of space, plus 65- to 129-square-foot balconies. Some Grand Suites also have two bedrooms instead of one. Further, these rooms on Seaside Class ships include bathrooms with bathtubs, as well as separate living areas.

MSC Yacht Club Duplex Suites

Rising two decks, MSC's duplex staterooms measure 495 to 635 square feet and come with 65- to 334-square-foot balconies. They feature living rooms with two-person sofa beds downstairs and master bedrooms upstairs, which also sleep two passengers.

Each of these accommodations comes complete with two walk-in closets and two bathrooms — one with a bathtub and one with a shower. Most duplexes on Meraviglia and World Class ships also have their own private whirlpool tubs.

MSC Yacht Club Executive and Family Suites

The line's Executive and Family Suites, available only on Fantasia Class vessels, are an excellent choice for anyone who wants to stay in the Yacht Club with a family or other group of more than two people.

This option, which is one type of suite (despite its confusing name), has space for up to five cruisers via a combination of bunk beds, sofa beds and beds that pull down from the ceiling, depending on the ship. The suites clock in at around 431 to 549 square feet, depending on the vessel.

The only drawback is that these staterooms have no balconies and no in-room dining areas, but they do include all the perks you'd find in Yacht Club cabins.

MSC Yacht Club Royal Suites

Although they only occupy one level, at 388 to 667 square feet, MSC's Yacht Club Royal Suites are right up there with the Duplex Suites in terms of space. They offer the second-largest amount of square footage after the Owner's Suites. They come with huge balconies comprising 355 to 753 square feet of outdoor area.

Additionally, bathrooms in these suites offer bathtubs on Fantasia, Meraviglia, Seaside and World Class ships, and the latter three have private whirlpool tubs, as well. All four classes' Royal Suites also include separate living room areas.

MSC Yacht Club Owner's Suites

The largest and most impressive of all MSC's cabins are the Owner's Suites found in the Yacht Club. Offering an impressive 840 to 1,119 square feet — larger than some land-based apartments — plus 269- to 670-square-foot balconies, they're some of the most luxurious rooms afloat.

Specific amenities vary by ship, but as an example, Owner's Suites on MSC World Europa offer floor-to-ceiling windows and walk-in closets. These accommodations on both the line's Seaside and World Class vessels also feature bathrooms with separate showers and bathtubs, as well as private whirlpool tubs and separate living room areas.

Bottom line

Although MSC Cruises' cabin types are straightforward, the line's add-on experiences can complicate things a bit.

Overall, what's key to remember is that MSC Cruises offers a wide variety of rooms and pricing to meet just about any budget or style of cruising. Each ship will offer accommodation choices from the least expensive, bare-bones interior rooms to the priciest suites, which come with butler and concierge services.

When you sail with MSC Cruises, you can expect function, style and comfort, regardless of the cabin type you book.

Hands up if you’re ready to be dazzled! From a ceremony structure designed to float on water to a jaw-dropping reception room with flowers blooming from every service, we’re swooning over every bit of this wedding. If you can believe it, that’s just the beginning. Julia Kaptelova artfully shot every detail, like the ballet performance guests were treated to and snow falling from the ceiling for the first dance! Prepare to be amazed and take a visit to the full gallery .

From About You Decor … Our design is a symbol of dawn and a distant endless horizon. Ahead is a long, happy life without any borders. An international couple, Pavel and Cherry, met in London and have been walking together for many years.

msc yacht club deluxe suite virtuosa

From the Bride, Cherry… My husband and I we decided to have our summer wedding in Moscow because the city is where his roots are. As we knew we were going to have the other wedding ceremony in China, we wanted our Moscow one to be very personal and intimate. We’ve known each other since we were fourteen, together with many of our friends whom we’ve also known for a decade.

msc yacht club deluxe suite virtuosa

I didn’t want to walk down the aisle twice so the plausibility of my request quickly came into discussion. The open pontoon stage was constructed in order to facilitate the bridal entrance on water, although there were concerns about safety as the last thing we wanted was probably a drowned bride before she could get on stage, picture that! I have to say on that day it wasn’t easy to get on the pontoon stage from the boat, in my long gown and high heels. Luckily my bridesmaids still noticed even though they stood the furthest from me on the stage, and helped me out without prior rehearsal. My girls could just tell whenever I needed a hand or maybe they were just so used to my clumsiness. Who knows 😂

We all love our photographer Julia! She’s so talented and her style is so unique. Our beloved host Alex is exceptional who made everyone laugh and cry. It was truly a blessing to have so many kind and beautiful souls on our big day. Thank you all!

I’m still not convinced this Moscow wedding, captured to perfection by  Sonya Khegay , isn’t actually an inspiration session—it’s just  that breathtaking. From the beautiful Bride’s gorgeous lace wedding dress and flawless hair and makeup to the pretty pastel color palette and stunning ceremony and reception spaces, this wedding is almost too good to be true. Do yourself a favor and see it all in The Vault now!

From Sonya Khegay … It was the last day of April and still very cold in the morning. The weather forecast wasn’t pleasing and no one expected that the sun would come out, but miracles happen and light rain gave way to the warm rays.

I love how all the details went together, you could feel the harmony in everything throughout the entire wedding day from the morning until the fireworks.

A gentle look of the bride, elegant but so airy and unique decor, the fresh and light atmosphere of early spring and, of course, true happiness in the eyes. My heart becomes so warm from these memories, it is always a pleasure to see the birth of a new family of two loving hearts.

You really can’t go wrong with simple: a beautiful Bride , perfectly pretty petals , loved ones all around. But add in an amazing firework show  to cap off the night and simple just became downright extraordinary. Captured by Lena Elisseva , with assistance by  Katya Butenko , this rustic Russian celebration is simply fantastic. See it all in the Vault right here !

msc yacht club deluxe suite virtuosa

From Lena Eliseeva Photo …  This cozy and warm summer wedding of gorgeous Natalia and Anton was in the middle of June. The young couple decided to organize their wedding themselves, and the day was very personal and touching. I am absolutely in love with rustic outdoor weddings, and this one is my favourite because of the free and easy atmosphere.

All the decor excluding the bride’s bouquet was made by a team of ten friends of the bride and groom. And it was charming – a light and beautiful arch, eco-style polygraphy and succulents, candy-bar with caramel apples and berries – sweet joys of summer.

At the end of ceremony the guests tossed up white handkerchiefs embroidered by Natalia’s own hands.

The most touching moment was the happy eyes of the groom’s grandmother, the most estimable person on the wedding. And the fireworks were a bright end to that beautiful day.

These photos from Lena Kozhina are so stunningly beautiful – as in you can’t help but stop and stare – it’s hard to believe it’s real life. But these pics are proof of this gorgeous Bride and her handsome Groom’s celebration at Moscow’s Fox Lodge , surrounded by vibrant colors and breathtaking blooms . Oh, and the idea of prepping for your Big Day outside in the sun ? Brilliant. See more bright ideas right here !

msc yacht club deluxe suite virtuosa

From Lena Kozhina … When we met with the couple for the first time, we immediately paid attention to Dima’s behavior towards Julia. There was a feeling of tenderness and awe, and we immediately wanted to recreate this atmosphere of love, care and warmth on their Big Day.

Later, when we had chosen a green meadow and an uncovered pavilion overlooking a lake as the project site, it only highlighted a light summer mood with colorful florals and a great number of natural woods. The name of the site is Fox Lodge and peach-orange color, as one of the Bride’s favorites, set the tone for the whole design – from the invitations, in which we used images of fox cubs to elements of serving guest tables and other decorative elements with the corresponding bright accents.
