Masquerade of Sole arrived at Pendennis in the spring of 2011 and was re-launched in June 2012 as the motor yacht A2. The Owner appointed New York based Peter Marino Architect to design the contemporary and luxurious Owner and guest areas. Naval Architects BMT Nigel Gee worked alongside the technical team at Pendennis, who has extensive experience of stern extensions on other remodelled vessels such as MY Illusion. A2‘s hull was extended to 47m across all three decks, and the superstructure modified to incorporate an impressive full beam master cabin.

This exterior transformation was complemented by a full paint job with A2 leaving the yard almost completely unrecognisable. As well as the five metre hull extension and major superstructure modifications, this remodel included re-engineering of all systems, complete replacement of all deck equipment, a complete remodel of the engine room including replacement of all systems, installation of modern bridge technology and state of the art AV equipment.

Her interior is styled by design house Eurocraft Cantieri Navali and she was delivered to her owner in March 2008. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Eurocraft Cantieri Navali and she was last refitted in 2018.

A2 // Refit Design by Tommaso Spadolini

Initially launched in 2008 by eurocraft as madhuri one, the yacht got an extensive refit with a tommaso spadolini design and shines bright as m/y a2..

In my opinion, the 38m motor yacht A2 is a perfect example of what an older yacht can be after a refit with top designers like Tommaso Spadolini, who worked closely with the New York-based studio Peter Marino Architect and worked for the yacht owner in the past. Italian shipyard C.A.R.M. converted the plans of the designers into reality. The stakeholders did it within six months! M/Y A2 has now a bright interior with fresh colors.

Excerpt of the owner’s brief:

“I want a lot of light, big windows, three comfortable bedrooms and one big open space on the main deck.”

Because the yacht had no windows, it needed a new certification to realize the owner’s requirements of a lightful interior.

The yacht has a top speed of 31.5 knots, a cruising speed of 24 knots and an economical speed of 20 knots with two MTU engines.

Designer Tommaso Spadolini comments the project:

“When the owner was still considering buying the boat, we discussed a prospective refit to free up its massive potential. The owner went ahead and bought her in early 2018 and work started immediately. It was a challenging project as he wanted to make significant changes and gave the refit team just half a year to complete the job, which required a high level of cooperation and synergy between the owner, the designers and the C.A.R.M. shipyard in Lavagna.”

Almost the whole general arrangement of the original yacht was changed. The VIP cabin is still in the bow area, and also the crew area is in the aft area behind the engine room of the yacht. A2 got a captain’s cabin in front of the engine room. The two guest cabins are now the one big daughter’s cabin, the full-beam owner’s cabin moved a bit forward.

A sneak peek of Edmiston’s offerings at the Palm Beach International Boat Show 2024

In a digital era where superyacht clients are inundated with information online, the yacht brokerage market can seem somewhat confusing. But leading firm Edmiston supports clients through the complex and unpredictable world of yacht brokerage. With nine yachts over 30 metres already sold in 2024, Edmiston demonstrates strong proficiency in understanding the unique needs and desires of its clients. As anticipation builds for the upcoming Palm Beach International Boat Show 2024, taking place on 21-24 March, BOAT International takes a closer look at Edmiston's stellar lineup of yachts on the market at the event.

Come Together: a family home

Built by the Netherlands-based builder Amels , 60-metre Come Together will be available for viewings at the Palm Beach International Boat Show. Delivered in 2022, the displacement motor yacht stands out with its visually striking geometric exterior, which was brought to life by visionary designer Espen Øino .

Built on Amels' efficient steel hull and aluminium superstructure, Come Together represents the first in a new generation of Amels 60 limited edition superyachts, featuring a pioneering hybrid propulsion system – so much so that she won at the World Superyacht Awards 2023 . This not only ensures global cruising capabilities but also minimises noise, vibration and fuel consumption.

Beyond her technological advancements, Come Together also offers an exquisite charter platform, having enjoyed a highly successful charter season in 2023. Step aboard and you'll be impressed by the vast outdoor living spaces spanning 486 square metres of deck. The 27-metre sundeck steals the spotlight, featuring a large Jacuzzi with a raised sunbathing area, gym equipment, a sheltered bar and a dining table for 18 guests. Movie nights under the stars come to life with an open-air cinema, while the beach club boasts an ice bath and sauna, complemented by a 38-square-metre swim platform and a fully stocked toybox.

Inside, the bespoke interiors by London-based Winch Design create a tranquil, family-home environment. The earthy palette of materials, including Jerusalem limestone, light-bleached matte oak, light-tone walnut and bronze, adds to the calming ambience.

Accommodating up to 14 guests across six cabins, the superyacht is perfect for multi-generational family holidays. The owner's suite features a modern interior with a study, lounge, en suite bathroom and enormous windows. This is topped off with a large folding balcony that transforms into a seven-square-metre private terrace.

Come Together is currently asking €59,950,000.

A2: rebuilt and refitted to perfection

Following a comprehensive refit in 2022, Feadship 's A2 is now on the market. Originally launched in 1983, the superyacht underwent a transformative reconstruction in 2012 by Pendennis , extending her to 46.9 metres and adorning her hull in a striking blue hue. A testament to meticulous care and attention, A2 has been maintained to high standards by her dedicated crew since the rebuild, ensuring she remains in first-class condition.

The 2022 refit elevated her status even further, introducing new navigation equipment, air-conditioning upgrades and a comprehensive engine room systems service. The yacht also received enhancements to her guest and crew interiors, a fresh hull repaint and deck re-caulking. Two new generators installed in 2023 have fortified her capabilities, preparing her for global cruising.

Inside, A2 unveils a rare Peter Marino interior, showcasing a blend of teak and bronze. The living areas exude a soft and inviting ambiance, adorned with large sofas for relaxation and a curated collection of modern art. Accommodating up to 15 guests across five cabins, A2 offers a luxurious retreat. The configuration includes a master cabin, a VIP cabin, two twin cabins and a quadruple cabin.

A2 comes equipped with two tenders, including a Hodgdon custom 6.5-metre Mini Venetian Limousine with Volvo Penta D3-220 and a custom Ribeye YT600 rib, both of which can be conveniently stored on the upper deck aft when underway. Her generous toy collection features two Hobie Mirage Oasis kayaks, two inflatable paddleboards, a wakeboard, a Bauer dive compressor, complete diving equipment, snorkelling gear and an array of inflatable towable toys.

A2 is currently asking $16,900,000.

Helios 2: classic meets contemporary

Helios 2 presents an opportunity to own a classic yacht that marries traditional charm with a flexible layout. Built by Palmer Johnson in 2002, the superyacht underwent a recent refit in 2023.

Powered by twin 1,000hp Caterpillar 3508B engines, Helios 2 cruises at 13 knots with a maximum speed of 14.8 knots. With a remarkable range of 4,000 nautical miles at her economical speed of 12 knots, she can comfortably embark on extended journeys with confidence.

A true highlight of Helios 2 is her sundeck, designed for both relaxation and entertainment. Featuring a hexagonal Jacuzzi forward, surrounded by sun pads, and a covered area amidships equipped with a barbecue and fitness equipment, the sundeck is very versatile. Aft, two sofas and a series of sun loungers provide ample space to bask in the sunshine, with extendable awnings for those seeking shade.

The interior was penned by Patrick Knowles , showcasing a clean and uncluttered aesthetic, enhanced by a semi-gloss Anigre finish that creates a calming ambience throughout. Helios 2 accommodates a total of 10 guests in five cabins, with the full-beam owner's suite on the main deck boasting a private office, walk-in wardrobes and an ensuite bathroom with a tub and shower. The lower deck houses two king-sized doubles that convert into twins, each with two additional Pullman berths, and two queen-sized cabins.

Helios 2 is complemented by two tenders, including a 6.7-metre Nouvrania rescue boat certified for yachts over 500 tons. The yacht also features a Brownie’s Yacht Pro YP45DF dive compressor and a well-equipped gym with a True M-30 treadmill, a Precor 2.21 elliptical and an MM1 Hi-Rise water rower.

Helios 2 is currently asking $15,900,000.

A California philanthropist allegedly threatened to kill a dock worker during a heated argument from his multimillion-dollar yacht, before dropping his pants and making several threatening gestures to the employee.

Ajay Thakore, a local entrepreneur in the San Diego area, attempted to dock his Lamborghini yacht at the private Marriot Marquis Marina to pick up one of his employees but was stopped by worker Joseph Holt on Sunday.

“I told him respectfully that he couldn’t be there, and I honestly was hoping to have a conversation with him about his cool boat,” Holt told CBS8. “But yeah, it completely went the other way.”

Thakore, who goes by his social media name, Ace Rogers, was riding on his rare $4.5 million Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 yacht at the time of the daytime dispute.

Holt claimed Thakore became hostile as soon as he was told off.

“It escalated immediately. It was 0 to 100 immediately,” the 21-year-old worker added.

Thakore, the CEO of medical advertising firm Doctor Multimedia, allegedly began to threaten Holt’s life as the luxury speedboat drove away from the docks.

“I will kill you, you know I will kill you, I will kill,” Thakore repeatedly yells, according to the video posted to YouTube.

Besides threatening to take Holt’s life, Thakore claimed to have the power to get the dock worker fired, ripping on the type of job he had.

“I’m a minimum wage worker, he was commenting on that, on my status just because of my job,” Holt said. “He was saying I’m nobody, I’m nothing, I work a silly job.”

“He said that he knows people, he has connections, he can change my life and ruin it,” he added.

During the heated discussion, Thakore allegedly pulled out his wallet and began throwing $100 bills at Holt and into the water, according to the outlet.

Holt said he tried to control himself during the incident and only gave Thakore the middle finger.

“I really didn’t know how to process it. I really was trying to restrain myself from getting fired from my job or stepping out of line. The only thing I did was give him the bird,” he said.

The dock hand blasted Thakore for his actions, especially in a public setting where he stripped nude and showed himself off.

“He had dropped his pants and started to make gestures to everybody watching and me. You can’t act that way in public. It’s just not OK. Especially threatening my life, at the very least. There were women and children there. That’s the most important part,” Holt said.

Thakore claims his outburst started because of a misunderstanding and was sorry for the people who saw it.

“The interaction that occurred yesterday was regrettable. What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange,” Thakore’s public relations team said in a statement, obtained by KFMB.

Port of San Diego Harbor Police were called to the Seaforth Boat rental dock for “a possible intoxicated vessel operator” but arrived at the marina 10 minutes after Thakore and his boat had left.

The employee who attempted to board the extravagant boat defended his boss’s actions, saying Holt was hostile toward Thakore, and the businessman was only defending his team.

“As I went to kindly step onto the Yacht, I was impeded by two members that work for Seaforth Boat Rental,” Thakore’s employee Jason said on a post to the CEO’s Instagram account.

Jason said he was told to “stand back” the first time he went to step on the boat, and claimed he was forearmed during his second attempt to board the yacht.

“They physically got in my way, the situation became fairly tense, there was a lot of screaming back and forth, extremely confrontational, I didn’t fully understand protocol, as I was going to step onto the boat.”

“As all of this happened, my boss flipped and he’s very protective of me, his fiancée, of his employees.” Jason added. “It was a confusing situation that became very tense and very confrontational.”

Thakore captioned the post saying “there are two sides to every story and it’s easy to paint a picture with edited video clips from cell phones.”

“My employee Jason was being restricted, restrained, and threatened while trying to board my yacht. As a leader, I defend my own fiercely with everything I have, and I will never apologize for that,” the caption read.
