Couldn’t ask for a better cap to a first weekend experiencing Chicago. Captain Memo went out of his way to make the experience special, from making sure we always had a full drink in hand, to creating some Titanic-esque front of boat moments, to letting us take a turn at the helm. He even voluntarily let our time run long because we were all vibing to Frank Sinatra on the way back in to the docks. You will have a great time because he’s just a generally kind soul. Oh captain my captain!

Once you confirm your reservation, your broker will process your payment.

• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is confirmed more than 7 days in advance, a deposit of either $1,000 USD or 50% of the total cost of the reservation (whichever is greater) is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

Luxury accomodations.

Our sailing yachts accommodate 1 to 10 people. We offer charters with captain and crew for groups up to six (6) or a bareboat charter for groups up to ten (10) with a USCG Licensed Captain paid separately. With up-to-date amenities and two bathrooms onboard, we assure the comfort of all our guests.

Customized Chicago Sailing Cruises:

All private Chicago sailboat charters depart and return according to your schedule. All Chicago sailboat cruises have three-hour minimums. And, charter extensions are available upon request. Yes, we encourage you to bring along food and refreshments, including alcoholic beverages.

Our yachts are professionally maintained and equipped.  In addition, we certify, train and employ United States Coast Guard Captains with over 20 years of experience. Because of this, rest assured that you are in excellent hands.  Also, all of our captains are enrolled in USCG mandated drug screening programs.

Convenience

The yachts are at the North End of Belmont Harbor, just east of Wrigley Field. Or, 15 minutes from the Chicago Downtown area. Windy City Sailing is easily accessible via Uber, Lyft, taxi, and bicycle. Also, parking is available via the City of Chicago. Gift certificates are available for all Chicago sailboat cruises and bareboat charters. We confirm reservations with a 50% deposit and refundable with a seven-day notice. Gratuity is at your discretion (we recommend 20% to our outstanding crew).

What types of payments do you accept?

We accept Master Card, Visa, cash, and check.  We can arrange for electronic payments via PayPal, QuickPay, and other services as well.

What should we bring along?

We recommend that you bring a jacket for evening sails. It’s also best to peek at the weather and dress accordingly. Offshore breezes can be cool at times. Don’t worry if you forget your jacket because we have a few extras on the boat. Sunscreen is always a good idea, but we do not allow oil or spray sunscreen on the boat.  Don’t forget the camera. Check the weather conditions in Chicago .

Is there a bathroom on board?

Yes, we have two bathrooms onboard our yachts. We take pride in providing you with an immaculate and safe sailing vessel.

What happens if there is bad weather?

We must respect Mother Nature and will not put anyone in danger. If it’s raining, lightning, hailing, or just too rough to sail, we will reschedule your group for a future date or provide a full refund. The weather in Chicago can change in a flash, so we typically wait until the last minute to cancel a charter. We keep an eye on the  NOAA Radar website.

Please keep the following information in mind when making your reservation.

WHEN AND WHERE?

We charter 3 times per day leaving from Belmont Harbor: 10am - 2pm 2:45pm – 6:45pm 7:30pm – 11:30 pm

Are as low as $199 - $250 per hour on weekdays with a 4 hour minimum per session. Please contact us for weekend and Holiday pricing and don't miss out our MONTHLY SPECIALS OFFER (pricing provided upon request)!!!

Not included in the price, however we will provide you with the pre-approved Captain list to choose from and hire.

Not included in the price and it is $150 for 4-hour session. This fee is collected by the owner upon your booking via QuickPay/Zelle.

We will go boating rain or shine, the only way we will reschedule your reservation is when waves are above 5 feet; In this case you will have an opportunity to reschedule your reservation for another date (based on availability) at no charge.

US Coast Guard regulations

Please note, per US Coast Guard regulations, the Bareboat maximum capacity for rental is 12 passengers plus Captain and we will be able to accommodate only 12 people plus Captain. If you have more than 12 people in your group, we can add another yacht for you.

There’s an old saying that “a boat is a hole in the water into which you throw money.” But by renting, you’ll leave the costs and headaches of maintenance to someone else. You can cruise up and down Chicago’s lakefront or explore the “second coast” of the Chicago River—or traverse the locks and do both.

This popular rental company offers a fleet of small electric boats from its Marina City base. Although the modest electric motors aren’t going to set any sort of speed records, it means the boats are quiet and conversation friendly. Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum capacity.

You can have up to 12 passengers, in addition to the captain and crew.

How do I find a captain?

After booking, we will provide you a list of captains that are certified and familiar with our vessel. Alternatively, you are welcome to provide your own credentialed Captain. Captain are independent contractors and are not employed or affiliated by Xtreme Fun Charters LLC. 

Do you allow tie-ups?

Due to recent regulations by the US Coast Guard, charter tie-ups are not permitted.   We are allowed to anchor near other boats as determined by the safest for the current conditions as determined by the Captain. 

What time and where do we meet before the boat departs?

Meet at the green space outside the entrance to dock, 30 minutes prior to the boat departure time. 10am departure – be there at 9:30am / 2pm departure – be at green space 1:30pm Our team will meet you there with coolers, ice, and carts to carry all your personal belongings to the boat. 

Can we go to the river?

Yes, but because we have to navigate the Chicago Locks which may take time during busy periods, we recommend letting us know in advance of your desired tour activities. 

What are the restrictions if any around alcohol on the boat?

You can bring your own, we don not provide alcohol. NO GLASS CONTAINERS!

What is the minimum amount of time we can rent the boat?

You must rent the boat for a minimum duration of 4 hours and can pay hourly after. 

Are lifejackets supplied?

Yes, we have lifejackets but you can bring your own.

What else is supplied?

Lifejackets, a multitude of coolers, blenders, ice, water guns are included ( as long you have a permit to carry a a watergun!). 

Don't worry, we have sunscreen!

Forgot your sunscreen, no problem – we got you covered! 

Can we bring our own food?

Most definitely, we provide coolers, refrigerator, blender, and ice machine.  You are welcome and encouraged to bring your favorite food and drinks, including alcohol.  We recommend no glass containers.  Microwave use is available, but there is no stove for public use. But power is only guaranteed while the boat is anchored or docked. 

Are infants and children allowed on board?

Absolutely, we allow children, but children under the age of 13 are required to wear a life jacket at all times.  For any infants we encourage parents to bring their own infant sized life jackets.  If you need one to be provided, we request that you notify us at least 3 days in advance to insure one is available.  Please call for details.

Can we play our own music?

We would be disappointed if you didn’t.  We provide a Bluetooth sound system that will knock the socks off of small people and large crustaceans.

Can we bring our own decorations?

Undoubtedly Yes, Prior to any charter date we request that you contact us to let us know what decorations you would like to provide.  Unfortunately, we do not allow glitter, confetti, or open-flame items.  Depending upon the timing of charters, it may not always be available to decorate the boat prior to the charter, but please contact us and we will try our best to work with you. 

Can we bring our pets?

Sorry, no pets allowed.

Can we wear shoes?

No shoes. We have a shoe bags storage for you.
