Additional features, per Jetset Magazine , include a luxury liquor bottle adorned with a rare 18.5 carat diamond, a custom iPhone encrusted in 500 diamonds, including two special interchangable home button diamonds, and a panoramic Aquavista wall aquarium made from 24-carat gold, presumably setting a new standard when it comes to panoramic yacht aquariums.

According to Jetset Magazine , the "anonymous Malaysian business man" (probably Robert Kuok, shown above) commissioned Hughes via a friend in his yachting circle; Hughes never met the person for whom the yacht was intended, but was given completely  free reign in terms of the ship's design and construction. The project took three years to complete. 

To add to the History Supreme's mystique, some people don't believe it exists at all. Autoevolution says it "was never real, it was never made and no, it does not exist," noting that Italian company Baia Yachts issued a statement claiming the pictures of History Supreme's interior on Hughes' website were stolen from their site and used without permission. MoneyInc and YachtHarbor also lay out the case for the entire story being a hoax, with MoneyInc noting that at one point Kuok deconstructed his Hong Kong mansion into several smaller homes to avoid an ostentatious display of wealth, which makes his commission of the world's most luxurious yacht seem unlikely. Robert Kuok, the richest man in Malaysia, with a net worth of $ 12.5 billion, spent an incredible $ 3.8 BILLION on a yacht, made of solid gold.

This yacht, with gold and dinosaur bones, is worth ten times more than Roman Abramovitch’s Eclipse, which previously held the title of the most expensive yacht in the world.

Kuok is the founder of the Shangri La hotel group, which operates luxury hotels in Asia, but most of his wealth comes from his stake in Wilmar, the world’s largest publicly traded palm oil company. .

The luxury took three years to complete and is covered in 100,000 kilograms of precious metals, including a solid gold hull. The master bedroom is particularly luxurious: it is adorned in platinum and has wall art made of meteoric stone and the bones of a Tyrannosaurus Rex.

However, it stands out from the History Supreme at 98.4 feet.

Details about the ship, including why it was so expensive, had nothing to do with onboard technology, amenities, performance, or even fuel efficiency.

The project was commissioned to Stuart Hughes, famous British designer and jeweler of high-end gadgets, which includes among his extravagant creations an iPhone version produced with 135 grams of 24-karat gold and 600 white diamonds. and a rare black diamond, valued at $ 16 million. And since he wanted a truly exclusive container, he gave the designer carte blanche to lead the way in the use of precious materials.

Another work of the designer, available with the superyacht, is a bottle of luxury liquor with an 18.5 carat diamond, the D ’Amalfi Limoncello Supreme, valued at $ 35 million. Because alcohol is never good enough in a normal bottle. There is also a panoramic wall aquarium made from solid 24 karat gold, around 150 pounds.

It turns out that History Supreme was designed to be the most decadent piece of naval architecture ever created. It’s literally wrapped in solid gold and platinum, includes gemstones in the design, and depending on who you believe, it comes with several other famous Hughes creations, some more quirky than others.

The entire container actually includes about 220,463 pounds of solid gold as a building material. The base is wrapped in gold, and is also incorporated into the deck, dining room, railings and anchor, and kitchenware. The stairs on the upper deck are said to be made of solid gold.

Platinum is also used a lot, especially in the chef’s kitchen and master suite, which, to boot, also features a wall made from meteoric stone and a sculpture made from real T-Rex dinosaur bone sourced from Arizona. The bone is only worth about $ 89,000.

In total, the British jeweler applied 100,000 kilos of 24-karat gold to the construction of the History Supreme.

For most boat owners, it’s enough that their boat is sea-worthy, clean, and running smoothly. But for the designer of the History Supreme yacht, a few extras were in order. With the existence of the famous yacht under debate, we delve under the surface to find out if the boat reigns supreme, or if it’s myth is history. 

Why is the History Supreme Yacht So Expensive? 

While a lot of information about the yacht is up in the air, most agree that the high price tag is due not only to its size (a reported one hundred feet in length), but also what it’s made of. The boat is supposedly loaded with precious metals. Gold and platinum were said to be used to line the entire boat. 

How Much is the History Supreme Yacht Worth? 

The boat is listed with a price tag of $4.8 billion, easily making it the most expensive yacht ever to exist. The next most expensive luxurious yacht would be the Eclipse, owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich. The Eclipse mega yacht is valued at $1.5 billion, making it only a third of the value of the History Supreme.

Who Owns the Yacht History Supreme? 

The name most often linked with the History Supreme is Malaysian businessman Robert Kuok. His fortune is currently listed as $11 billion on Forbes. If the boat is indeed real, would someone really spend over a third of their money on it? 

The other name linked to the boat is the reported designer, Stuart Hughes. Hughes is best known for designing luxury gadgets such as solid gold games consoles, or black diamond iPhones. He describes the yacht on his website as having been sold to an anonymous Malaysian businessman, which may or may not be Kuok.

Other features of opulence on the boat include a T-rex bone mounted on the wall of the master bedroom, along with meteor rock features. The whole interior is decked out with gold and platinum. The dining area, the deck itself and even the boat’s anchor are said to be either solid gold, or gold-lined. 

Does the History Supreme Really Exist? 

While it’s been long discussed online and in boating circles, it seems unlikely the golden yacht actually exists. Whether a deliberate hoax in the industry, or just a rumour that got out of hand, it seems likely that the boat isn’t real. The few existing photos appear to be fake or doctored, and the reported weight of the boat, given all that precious metal, is around 100,000kg.

We’ve seen our fair share of opulent yachts, like the Star Wars-inspired ‘ Estrella ‘ or the ‘ Floating Sphere ‘ superyacht, but The History Supreme takes the gold-encrusted biscuit.

Apparently, the 100-foot superyacht is covered in platinum and gold from bow to stern, and even has a feature wall made of T-Rex bone and meteorite.

And, as you can imagine, it’s worth a staggering amount – $4.8 billion to be precise.

If truth be told, The History Supreme is one of the biggest boating myths.

No one has ever seen the superyacht and, for that reason, internet sleuths think it doesn’t exist.

But the story’s interesting nonetheless, so here it goes…

When you picture the most expensive yacht in the world, a 100-foot vessel is not what springs to mind.

The floating cities that park off Monaco are upwards of 328 feet in length, with REV being the longest yacht in the world at 602 feet.

But they’ve got nothing on the extravagance of what’s claimed to be inside The History Supreme.

How did they come up with a $4.8 billion boat?

Let’s start with the 100,000 kilograms of gold and platinum that builder Stuart Hughes’ website claims was used in construction.

Even the hull of the boat is said to be wrapped in a layer of gold.

Inside the yacht you’ll find… more gold.

“All features including deck, dining area, rails, anchor, [are] made from precious metals,” The History Supreme’s creator, Hughes says.

The sleeping quarters have a feature wall “made from meteoric stone with genuine dinosaur bone shaved in from the raptor T-Rex,” Hughes’ website says.

Hughes is known for wrapping objects in gold and diamonds, most famously iPhones.

So this makes sense, but he’s not known as a boat builder, and despite several interviews with news outlets saying it was real, nobody has spotted this beast in the wild.

So who owns The History Supreme?

Similar to the boat itself, it’s a bit of a mystery, although Hughes claims to have built the luxury yacht for a Malaysian businessman.

But armchair detectives think they know who that businessman is.

The rumors are that it belongs to Robert Kuok, founder of the Shangri-La hotel and resorts chain.

Kuok is the richest person in Malaysia and  Forbes estimates his worth  at a cool $10.5 billion.

This doesn’t quite add up either, though, as why would a billionaire spend nearly half his fortune on a boat?

But even more mysterious is where the boat is.

It’s not been sighted at the major ports billionaires tend to hang out at.

And some yachting message boards believe the images are taken from another similar concept yacht.

So what does it all mean?

As a concept, it’s incredible – but is it real?

There’s no evidence to say it was built, other than Hughes’ website claaiming it took three years to build.

Robert Kuok's legacy in Malaysia

The past few days have seen the Malaysian media frenzied by allegations that tycoon and business magnate, Robert Kuok has been funding various opposition parties in an attempt to overthrow the Malaysian government. These allegations were first published by exiled blogger and fugitive, Raja Petra Kamarudin on his website, Malaysia Today – allegations that Kuok had since refuted via a media statement.

However, the postings triggered a flurry of responses – some of which were very uncouth and shockingly were uttered by a Malaysian Cabinet Minister. The crude, derogatory and borderline racist comments that were unleashed will not bode well with the urban and intellectual vote bank of all races who see Robert Kuok as an inspiration and role model.

‘Sugar King of Asia’

Robert Kuok is a name synonymous with sugar and wealth. Born in the Malaysian state of Johor in 1923, he was the youngest of three brothers and from an early age, had a keen eye for business.

He started off as a clerk at the rice trading division at a Japanese conglomerate in Singapore during the latter’s occupation of Malaya. When the war ended, he returned home and honed his business skills learnt from the Japanese in his family business in Johor Bahru.

After his father’s demise, Kuok and some family members founded Kuok Brothers in 1949. What began as an agricultural commodity trading company has now grown to become a billion-dollar business empire spanning five continents. As of publication time, Kuok’s personal net worth, according to Forbes, stands at US$15.5 billion – making him the richest man in Malaysia, Southeast Asia’s second richest man and 94th richest man in the world.

Kuok’s is most famously known for his sugar business. He formed Malayan Sugar Manufacturing in 1959 together with two Japanese partners. At his peak, he controlled 80 percent of the Malaysian sugar market, then producing 1.5 million tonnes or the equivalent of 10 percent of global sugar production. After owning the sugar refining business for over 45 years, Kuok exited the Malaysian market in 2009 after divesting his company’s stake to Felda Global Ventures (FGV).

However, trading sugar wasn’t his only forte. Consolidated under PPB Group Berhad, a now diversified conglomerate that he founded in 1968, he built businesses in different sectors including agribusiness, food production, film distribution and property investment. Some of his notable businesses, play a role in every Malaysian’s daily life in one way or another, from cinema chain – Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), to agribusiness group – Wilmar International and flour mill and production company – Federal Flour Mill (FFM).

Kuok’s business drive was partly due to his patriotism for Malaysia. In his memoirs, he recollects how patriotism was the force behind launching Malaysia’s international shipping line, Malaysian International Shipping Corporation (MISC). Initially, MISC had a paid-up capital of RM10 million, with the Kuok Brothers holding a leading 20 percent stake. Soon after, Kuok received numerous requests from then Prime Minister, Abdul Razak Hussein, due to pressure from certain quarters, requesting for more shares to be issued to Malaysia’s bumiputra elite, which eventually resulted in the dilution of the Kuok Brothers’ stake in the company. In the end, Kuok made the bold move of selling off his 15 percent stake just before MISC went public in 1987. This paved the way for the establishment of Pacific Carriers Limited in Singapore to carry mainly his own shipping cargo.

In 1969, Kuok took up the challenging role of Chairman of Malaysia Singapore Airlines (MSA) for two years. During this tenure of national service, Kuok played peacemaker between the appointed directors from the Government of Malaysia and Government of Singapore, leading up to MSA’s split into Malaysian Airline System (MAS) and Singapore Airlines (SIA) in 1972, once more contributing to the call to serve the country.

The Kuok philosophy

Kuok’s business acumen wasn’t entirely derived from making a profit. His successes were also down to the simple lessons of life he learnt when he was younger. The business magnate holds to the maxim that “failure is the mother of success.” However, he opines that the reverse better reflects the nature of society today. He believes that success, often breeds failure because it makes one arrogant and incautious.

He has a strong belief in the principles of Confucianism which helped guide his business philosophy throughout his life. Kuok believes in the importance of understanding human nature and that everyone should have an equal chance to succeed. He was never hesitant to help others succeed as well. His people-centred nature is demonstrated in the way he treats his employees and how he places emphasis on their personal career development and character over just academic prowess.

Kuok also pointed to the advice given to him by his mother which helped shape the man he eventually became. According to Kuok, his mother was fond of reminding him to conduct his business morally and not to fall victim to the lures of materialism. He is an avid believer in nurturing long-term relationships rather than looking for immediate profits.

His ability to understand different value systems, enabled him to grasp the communist ideology and beliefs. This helped him develop a firm understanding of how Chinese businessmen from mainland China operated, which enabled him to have excellent relations with them so much so, being the Malaysian government’s calling card when assistance was needed. This evidently enabled him to be one of the pioneering entrepreneurs to expand his business to China in the years following Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution.

What will come of this anti-Kuok tirade?

The whiplashing that the nonagenarian billionaire has received in the last 36 hours will have implications for the coming Malaysian General Elections. The funding mechanics within the Chinese community may now shift towards his direction as concerted efforts are made to act as a vanguard to the billionaire tycoon. Whilst the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Office has now proceeded to issue a statement recognising Robert Kuok’s accomplishment and contributions to the development of Malaya (and now Malaysia), many Malaysians will remember this outburst, perceived to have been made to fan Malay sentiment and split race-vote dynamics.

Many young Malaysians are also unaware of the role Kuok played in normalising relations with China and the May 13 incident. They also are unaware of the role Kuok played in the 1960s and 1970s, the halcyon years for Southeast Asian sugar producers, who arbitraged on rising prices and market volatility, to ensure sugar was affordable to Malayan folk. The sentiment from this event is that Malaysians in general are longing and yearning for a multi-racial and plural society built on the very same values that Robert Kuok holds dearly and not the race, religion and uncouth behaviour being pedalled by certain people in office.

In his memoirs, Kuok stated “I was often asked to give substantial donations to the ruling parties, UMNO and MCA, after independence in 1957. I gave willingly, happily and freely.”

Thus, this attempt to compromise his integrity and dignity has severely back fired on its instigators and will have a ripple effect in time to come.

If at all, this incident may serve to prove to younger Malaysians who might not be aware or fully appreciate his contributions to the nation, that Robert Kuok is indeed the last Malayan gentleman.

An ultra-luxury cruise line wants to attract wealthy Americans with its all-inclusive 'yachts' — see what the new 128-guest ship will be like

• The all-inclusive vessel, which Emerald calls a "yacht," would accommodate up to 128 people.
• Emerald, known for river cruises, has been investing more in its ocean-based business.

Over the last few years, the mass-market cruise industry's larger-than-life mega-ships — outfitted with loud waterparks and more dining options than you could eat in a week — have dominated the spotlight.

But in the ultra-luxury cruise market, it's been the opposite. The smaller and more exclusive the vessel, the better. So much so that Emerald Cruises' next ocean-based ship, launching in 2026, plans to accommodate no more than 128 travelers.

It's a far cry from Royal Caribbean's new 7,600-guest cruise liner . And the price difference is just as steep: almost $250 per night on Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas versus more than $720 per night on the upcoming ultra-luxury Emerald Kaia.

"When people think of cruising now, they automatically think of these large ships ," Robert Castro, the vice president of marketing for Scenic Group, Emerald's parent company, told Business Insider. "There's a market for that, but we're in a unique position."

If you’re familiar with river cruises, Emerald might ring a bell.

The cruise line, owned by Scenic Group, only offered river cruises for its first nine years.

But lately, its biggest growth and investments have been in oceans, not rivers.

In 2022 and 2023, the Switzerland-based company launched its first two ocean cruise ships, which it calls "yachts." Each accommodates a maximum of 100 guests . And so far, they've been hits, with the cruise line experiencing record-high bookings in 2023.

Yes, the ships look like yachts. And yes, they're marketed as such.

But because Emerald's vessels operate group itineraries, they still technically count as cruise ships, albeit really nice ones.

So instead of paying hundreds of thousands of dollars a week to charter a yacht, as is traditional with these high-end vessels , travelers can spend less than $800 a day for a traditional cruise on said yacht-like ship.

While it's not nearly as exclusive, it sure is a hell of a lot cheaper, "bringing the charter yacht experience to reach for people who would never even imagine," Castro said.

Emerald’s upcoming 393-foot-long, 128-guest Kaia would be perfect for fans of small, high-end ships.

The 64-cabin Emerald Kaia would have a larger guest capacity than its two predecessors but would still be tiny compared to most cruise ships, including some of the most luxurious ones.

Regent Seven Seas' new Grandeur can accommodate 746 guests, while Ritz-Carlton says its next ship will sail up to 448 travelers.

Even Four Season's upcoming vessel — with fares up to $350,000 a week — would have a larger guest capacity of up to 222 people. However, it would be almost 290 feet longer than Emerald Kaia.

Like traditional cruise ships, Kaia would have amenities like a spa, two lounges, and three dining options.

The top deck would also have a cabana and bar-lined pool, one of three swimming holes on the ship.

But unlike its mass-market competitors, Kaia would have an open-air marina that would give travelers direct access to the water.

Water platforms are typically only common on yacht-marketed ships, such as Emerald's, Ritz-Carlton's, and, someday, Four Seasons'.

This means guests on the upcoming Kaia could dip in the Mediterranean, Adriatic, and Aegean seas — as is included in its 2026 and 2027 itineraries — without disembarking the ship.

According to the cruise line, Emerald Kaia's future itineraries include an 11-day sailing from Cyprus to Greece and a 20-day one from Seychelles to Kenya.

Its cheapest itinerary is currently an eight-day roundtrip Seychelles vacation in 2027, starting at $5,055 per person.

As an all-inclusive cruise line, amenities like alcohol, WiFi, and excursions would be included in the base fare. However, unlike all-inclusive competitor Regent Seven Seas , guests must pay for their flights to and from the ship.

To compare, itineraries of the same length on Regent's Seven Seas Grandeur and Ritz-Carlton's Ilma would be $36 cheaper and $120 more expensive, respectively, per day.

But the fares aren't stopping travelers from gravitating toward Emerald. Before it unveiled Kaia, its parent company announced a record number of bookings in January — up 67% compared to its previous record in January 2020.

Castro said about 20% to 35% of its guests are American, typically well-acquainted with luxury travel.

The company's goal has been to increase its number of American customers. So far, it's working and is now "on track to be Emerald's No. 1 market," Castro told BI.

The new vessel is being built at a great time for the cruise line.

Strong demand, compounded by a small fleet of small ships, has led to fewer available cabins for its upcoming summer Mediterranean cruises.

Several of these sailings are now fully reserved. The cheapest remaining fares start at $4,570 per person for an eight-day November sailing from Athens, Greece, to Dubrovnik, Croatia.

It's great news for Emerald as it considers a future with more ocean "yachts." "The sooner we fill the ships, the sooner we start building new ones," Castro said.

Newport Beach woman killed at house party in Arizona

The death of a 20-year-old Newport Beach woman who was fatally shot in Tucson, Ariz., was being mourned today.

Erin Jones died early Sunday after attending an off-campus house party in Tucson, where she was a sophomore at the University of Arizona.

Jones graduated from Corona Del Mar High School, where she was a standout on the girls’ soccer team.

Jones was taken to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries. According to friends, she was waiting for an Uber after leaving the party, CBS 2 reported.

“I am at a loss for words about the tragic loss of life of our class of 2022 graduate, Erin Jones. Erin was a well-known student on the Corona Del Mar campus and the ripple effect of the loss will be felt by many, especially our soccer community, where Erin was an active member,” wrote Corona Del Mar Middle and High School Principal Jake Haley.

The shooting occurred around 1:40 a.m. Sunday, KOLD-TV, the CBS affiliate in Tucson, reported.

Video footage obtained by KOLD captured gunfire sounds erupting as people began running from the party.

“As some of you may already be aware, our Wildcat community suffered a tragic loss early this morning with the off-campus death of sophomore Erin Jones. Our deepest sympathies go out to Erin’s family in California and across the country, her friends, and her classmates in Tucson and Newport Beach, who are absorbing the heartbreaking news today,” University of Arizona President Dr. Robert C. Robbins wrote in an email to the university’s students, faculty and staff members.

“I have spoken with Erin’s family and offered the university’s full support, and we will continue to be there for them.”

Details about the shooting are “extremely limited at this time, and investigators are actively working on what led up to the shooting,” the Tucson Police Department said in a statement issued Sunday afternoon, the Orange County Register reported.

A teenage girl and a man were treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds at the scene, according to the Tucson Police Department, the Arizona Wildcat, the university’s campus newspaper, reported. Another victim was discovered inside a car at the scene and is expected to survive.

No arrests have been made in Jones’ killing.

Feds reveal Notre Dame official's kidnap kit as George Mandarakas legal fight escalates

Detroit — Federal prosecutors are painting a more troubling picture of a former high-ranking University of Notre Dame official accused of attempting to kidnap an ex-girlfriend in Metro Detroit, saying he victimized a second woman, mounted a spy operation, shopped online for body bags and researched non-extradition countries.

Prosecutors leveled the new allegations in a federal court filing while fighting an attempt by George Mandarakas, 36, the former director of corporate relations at Notre Dame, to leave a federal detention center on bond ahead of a July 9 trial in a rare attempted kidnapping and stalking case in Detroit.

Prosecutors revealed photos of the kidnap kit they said Mandarakas amassed — including a gun, handcuffs, knife, stun gun and a map for sailing to Cuba — while alleging he tried to hack, track and abduct an ex-girlfriend in Trenton late last year.

"Mandarakas is pathologically deceptive, manipulative, and obsessive," Assistant U.S. Attorney Nhan Ho wrote in a court filing. "Mandarakas’s unyielding deception, his uncontrollable obsession with the victim, and his incomprehensible actions ... are substantial evidence of dangerousness. Mandarakas planned to kidnap and potentially kill the victim."

In opposing Mandarakas' request to leave federal custody, prosecutors disclosed a second woman they said was victimized by his "disturbing and threatening behaviors," revealed new allegations about Mandarakas' actions last year and divulged what they described as an incriminating internet history. That included:

∎ Shopping online for “body bags for dead bodies"

∎ Researching murder and rape penalties in Spain, Ireland, Greece and other countries

∎ Making a fugitive to-do list that included buying a boat with cash and obtaining a black-market bogus passport

∎ Researching "non-extradition" countries

The new details were prompted by a request from Mandarakas' lawyer, Barton Morris, trying to get the New Jersey resident released from the federal detention center in Milan. The resident of Randolph, New Jersey, has been incarcerated since his arrest in December.

Mandarakas is not dangerous and all prosecutors have shown is a “far-fetched scheme” and "cherry-picked" evidence, the defense lawyer wrote. He proposed releasing Mandarakas to live with his mother and said he could be ordered to wear a GPS tether, noting his client has two college degrees, no criminal record or history of violence, does not own a boat and has never sailed.

Morris wants Detroit U.S. District Judge Linda Parker to revoke a detention order filed by U.S. Magistrate Judge Kimberly Altman. The judge demonstrated a bias favoring prosecutors, the defense lawyer wrote.

"The defendant had dated and known the victim for at least four and a half years and there has never been an allegation that he was a dangerous person," Morris wrote . "There exist no allegations of harm, assault, abuse, or dangerousness."

A breakup and a wedding proposal

The case against Mandarakas is a rarity in Michigan. Only 22 people were convicted of federal kidnapping charges in Michigan from 2015-23, and the median sentence was more than 14 years, according to the U.S. Sentencing Commission. That group includes the 2020 case against four men convicted in federal court of plotting to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

Mandarakas is charged with attempted kidnapping — a felony that carries a maximum 20-year sentence — and stalking, a five-year felony.

The criminal case describes the fallout from a soured relationship that started at the prestigious college and involves allegations of prolonged stalking, a hidden tracking device and a Christmas Day ruse involving the ex-girlfriend's family that ended with Mandarakas in handcuffs.

Mandarakas met the woman at Notre Dame in 2019. According to an online biography, public records and a LinkedIn profile, Mandarakas graduated from Notre Dame in 2009 with a degree in chemical engineering and, by 2019, was leading corporate fundraising for his alma mater.

Mandarakas, a married father, lied to the woman, now 27, telling her he was a student, prosecutors said. She ended the relationship in October after four-and-a-half years.

The split prompted Mandarakas to drive to Trenton from his home in New Jersey and send her numerous texts and try to call her, prosecutors said. She agreed to meet Mandarakas at an area park and reiterated that she did not want to have additional contact with him, an FBI agent wrote in a court affidavit that referred to the woman as "adult victim 1" or "AV-1."

"As AV-1 attempted to walk to her vehicle, Mandarakas blocked her path," the agent wrote. "AV-1 pushed Mandarakas out of the way and was able to get her driver’s door shut. Mandarakas attempted to grab a hold of the vehicle and did not let go until AV-1 started to drive away. Mandarakas then attempted to run after the vehicle for a short distance."

More than a month later, Mandarakas confronted the woman at a salon in Woodhaven, according to the government. The woman did not understand how Mandarakas could have known her location since they had not talked for almost two months, prosecutors allege.

"Mandarakas wedged his body in between the driver’s door so that (she) could not shut her driver’s (door)," the FBI agent wrote. "Mandarakas attempted to hug and kiss (her). (The woman) asked Mandarakas to leave her alone multiple times."

Then, he gave her a diamond ring and started to propose marriage, according to the government. Hours later, he confronted the woman at a Trenton bar, texted her "he would not stop until he had her back, and that he was going to marry her," and started sending gifts, including a laptop computer, prosecutors alleged.

Details on tracking device

On Wednesday, prosecutors revealed they had obtained a federal search warrant for Mandarakas' phone. His internet history showed Mandarakas searched last fall for how to install spyware and about the best place to install a GPS tracking device on a vehicle, according to the government.

Investigators said the victim and her family found a tracking device hidden inside the driver’s side bumper late last year after wondering how Mandarakas had managed to find her at the salon and bar.

That device helped the victim's family lure Mandarakas to St. Joseph's Church in Trenton on Christmas Day. Police arrived and arrested him.

Investigators searched his rental car and found more than $12,000 in Canadian and U.S. currency , cellphones, a second tracking device, advertisements listing boats for sale, and sailing maps from New Jersey to Morocco and from Florida to Cuba, prosecutors said.

They also found what prosecutors described as an "on-the-run checklist." That list included an entry that read: "multiple burner phones. Don't activate until you are already on the run ..."

Another entry asked whether he could cross the Atlantic Ocean without refueling "my yacht." A third entry indicated he would change his name and dye and cut his hair, use cash to buy a sailboat and obtain a fake ID and passport , prosecutors said.

Defendant mom's car searched

Police also searched a Hyundai Elantra registered to Mandarakas' mother. Inside, they found the body bag, stun gun, map of South America, knife, zip ties, rope, handcuffs and field dressing gloves commonly used to remove internal organs and guts of deer and other game animals.

They also discovered three large plastic bags filled with sex toys, sex products and ovulation predictors. Also in the vehicle: a Glock handgun with two magazines and more than 700 rounds of ammunition, including some that fit the Glock , prosecutors said.

The defense lawyer argued prosecutors did not demonstrate that Mandarakas is a danger to the community or another person. Investigators found some of the items because Mandarakas was in the process of moving, Morris argued .

"It is reasonable to conclude that he believed he could talk her into leaving with him," the defense lawyer wrote .

"The government assertion that Mandarakas 'learned how to navigate a boat within the last few months' is absurd," Morris added . "So far, we have heard nothing that remotely evidences a substantial, overt act towards effectuating an intent to kidnap anyone."

Media coverage of the case prompted a second woman to contact law enforcement officers in early March, prosecutors said. The woman told investigators that after she had broken up with Mandarakas he excessively called and messaged her and threatened to kill her new boyfriend, the prosecutor wrote.

"This unsolicited report shows a pattern," Ho wrote . "Not only does it highlight the severity of Mandarakas’s offenses, but it also shows the continuing nature of Mandarakas’s troubling mindset and behaviors, and the palpable dangers he poses to the women he dated and the community."

Morris did not respond Monday to a message seeking comment.

But in his request for bond, he noted Mandarakas' wife, Stephanie, characterized him as "a very loving and docile man." She wrote an email to the court, explaining Mandarakas has never been violent toward her or their 3-year-old daughter.

"Before these events we were planning our future together, something which I would never do with someone I thought was ... 'dangerous,'" she wrote . "We had dreams of another child, properties in Greece, and more!"
