Motorsailers are sailboats that can also be powered. A motorsailer combines the spacious cabin of a motor yacht with the features of a sailboat, such as a keel and sails. Because of the cabin, motorsailers are also called pilothouse sailing yachts. Usually, the sailing characteristics of motor sailors are not optimal. To sail on wind power alone, a big wind is needed, and in moderate winds, the engine soon has to be used. To sail the Mediterranean and visit bays, for example, a motorsailer is very practical.
