Benetti Classic 120' Charter

The 'Benetti Classic 120' charter yacht, also known as the Benetti Classic 37, is an evolution of the Classic series by the design team of François Zuretti and Stefano Righini to create a luxury superyacht with increased space and light.

The Benetti Classic 120' features large a sundeck with a Jacuzzi, a lounge area and a comfy sunbathing area, providing plenty of space for charter guests to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings whilst on your yachting vacation. These luxury charter yachts also feature a large tender garage that can hold a tender and two wave runners. With a maximum speed of 16 knots they are not not the fastest charter yacht available, but then again the Benetti Classic range is more about comfortable cruising and space.

120-metre Amels superyacht sold

The team at Amels and Damen Yachting has signed a new build 120-metre Amels superyacht by Espen Øino.

When delivered in 2025, the Amels 120-metre will be not only the largest Amels but also the largest superyacht built to date in the Netherlands.

Full custom order

The Amels yacht is the builder’s third full custom project now on order. Rose Damen, Managing Director of Amels and Damen Yachting, says:

Benetti Yacht 120

Benetti 120

When I think of a classic Benetti motoryacht, what springs to mind is something similar to Gladiatore , a recent delivery from the Italian builder that I was aboard in Miami. Like many recent Benetti yachts , this 120-foot trideck motoryacht features styling by Stefano Righini . She’s modern without being avant-garde and current without resorting to fads. She’s built well and solidly, with first-rate systems and equipment. That’s what makes a classic, but Gladiatore is a classic in another sense of the word too. She springs from the line of semicustom Classic models that began in 1998 with the 115-foot Stella Fiera , Benetti’s first composite yacht.

Benetti has been building ships and boats in Viareggio, Italy, since Lorenzo Benetti founded the yard in 1873. In the early years, the yard specialized in commercial ships, built of wood. When Lorenzo’s sons Emilio and Gino took over in 1914, they began building oceangoing ships and yachts. It wasn’t until 1963 that the yard began to build in steel. It went on to deliver a number of notable yachts, perhaps the best known among them being Nabila . Built for Saudi arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi in 1980, the 281-foot superyacht eventually was acquired by real estate mogul Donald Trump in 1988 and renamed Trump Princess . Later sold to a Saudi prince, she cruises today as Kingdom 5KR .

Benetti was acquired by Paolo Vitelli in 1985 and merged with his production company to form Azimut Benetti. The group now covers every facet of the boating market, from the smallest family cruiser to the largest megayacht, and it does so without the individual divisions stepping on each other’s toes.

Benetti’s continued success was not without its challenges. The old yard on the harbor was bursting at the seams when production of the Classic series gathered steam, and it was clear that something had to be done. In 2000, Azimut Benetti acquired space at Lusben, an idle shipyard at the foot of Via Michele Coppino, just a few hundred feet away from Benetti’s yard. The company refurbished part of it for Azimut, part for Benetti and part for a marina. This provided temporary relief, but as its semicustom composite yacht family continued to grow, so too did its space requirements. Add to that the dual complications of building steel superyachts alongside composite yachts and then delivering them through a channel that was becoming increasingly restrictive as the custom yachts got larger, and it was apparent that something further must be done.

The solution came in 2003 as Benetti took over another idle shipyard a few miles south of Viareggio in Livorno. The yard was rebuilt to Benetti’s standards, and production of the steel custom yachts, many in the 200-foot range, was shifted to the new facility. The Viareggio yard was now fully devoted to the building of Benetti’s semicustom yachts. By this time, the family of composite yachts had grown to include not only the Classic but also the 99-foot Tradition, the 143-foot Vision and, eventually, the 85-foot Legend. Meanwhile, the Classic, after 27 hulls at 115 feet, grew to 120 feet, as represented by Gladiatore , the 14th of the new series. The 90-foot Delfino will soon be joining the family.

My chance to visit Gladiatore in Miami happened as she was en route to her new owners, a young couple from Mexico, moving up from a 98-foot Azimut Leonardo. The semicustom design of their new yacht allowed the couple to contribute their personal talents as a painter and a fashion designer to Gladiatore .

Gladiatore’s natural-toned interior is clearly modern, with no unnecessary frills. Yet it is quite stylish with its straight lines and clean corners. A large sofa on the upper deck skylounge converts to a king bed, transforming the area into another private guest suite with great views. All of the exterior tables can be dropped to create additional sunbathing areas.

With her extra foot of beam, added when the Classic model’s length went from 115 to 120 feet, Gladiatore has lots of interior volume and can sleep up to 14 guests. In addition to the convertible upper-deck suite, there are four staterooms belowdecks, two with twin berths and pullmans, and two with queen berths. The master suite, with a king berth, is forward on the main deck. The extra volume is also evident in the salon and dining room, a single large area that appears even larger thanks to the abundance of windows. The extra length and beam enjoyed by Gladiatore and her sisters enhance their spaciousness and livability without really changing the basic arrangement.

Both Azimut and Benetti build yachts in the 80- to 120-foot range, so you may wonder why the couple who bought Gladiatore opted for a Benetti rather than moving up to a larger Azimut. Quite simply, the boats are very different creatures in a number of ways, sharing fiberglass construction and similar lengths but very little else. Azimut’s models are larger versions of its smaller yachts, while Benetti’s are smaller versions of its larger yachts. They have different designs and intended uses, different outfitting and equipment, and different navigational capabilities. In the end, it comes down to the owners’ determination as to which type of craft will most closely suit their personal lifestyles and cruising plans.

Once those questions are answered and a decision is reached, the remaining choice is custom or semicustom. These smaller semicustom Benetti yachts benefit from a much shorter build period with few structural or machinery changes from boat to boat. This means the company is able to offer quicker delivery at a reduced cost, while still providing owners an opportunity to customize the interior. Gladiatore reveals these differences and advantages, as well as what some might consider a disadvantage. Unlike Azimuts of similar length, the Benetti 120 Classic is intended for long-range cruising, and therefore has a displacement hull for maximum fuel economy. The downside is a slower top speed, a limitation that long-range cruisers accept. Her maximum speed is 16 knots, but the continuous cruising speed is only a knot less. When you back off the Caterpillar C32 diesels and cruise at 11 knots, her range soars to 3,300 miles.

This 120 Classic is also equipped with Naiad “Stabilization at Anchor” units that operate both at sea and anchored. With active fins that are larger and longer, and that operate for more extended periods, this system is more robust and expensive than traditional at-sea systems. The added benefits, however, are numerous and, in my opinion, worth the cost.

For example, one of the most readily apparent benefits is the reduction in peak rolling angles. This means guests will be more comfortable whether under way or at anchor.

After visiting a number of Benetti Classics in Italy, it was nice to see Gladiatore bringing a little Italian pizzazz to this side of the Atlantic. She looked as comfortable here as her sisters do in the Mediterranean. But that’s because she’s a Classic.

The Sanlorenzo SL120A uses an asymmetric design on the interior

Symmetry has been a fundamental tenet of boat design ever since Noah built his Ark. This obviously makes hydrodynamic sense below the waterline, but symmetry is less important when it comes to the superstructure. At least that’s what Italian yacht builder Sanlorenzo is trying to convince the yachting world with its brand-new SL120 Asymmetric.

Sanlorenzo has been playing with creative yacht designs over the last three years to update the traditional way of living on board. Robb Report had a chance to tour the new 120-footer at last week’s Cannes Yachting Festival , where it also introduced the SL 90A. The two launches are logical evolutions of the builder’s SL102 , which started the asymmetrical trend in 2018.

As luxury yachts grow in size to more than 100m/328ft there is more room for creativity with the spaces onboard, and Abdulbaki ŞENOL has given insight into the design process with the 120m/394ft concept of one such vessel.

The luxury yacht has kept her sleek proportions that create a stylish exterior appearance while providing guests with multiple modifiable spaces indoors to suit each Owner for socialising and time spent on personal interests. Accommodating up to 22 guests with even more visitors expected on board while dockside, the layout has been designed for successive changes in use throughout the day.

The skylounge forms the upper atrium to the main deck aft and the two spaces are joined by a signature staircase. On both sides of the room there are is a cosy lounging space consisting of a sofa and armchairs placed around a coffee table beside the windows, while to the aft a table for drinks, meals or games uses a similar setup.

The area in the centre is the main gathering spot with three sofas creating an aft-facing C-shaped setup around a large coffee table. The glass sliding doors to port and starboard as well as to the aft would allow a breeze to come through and create a more alfresco environment perfect for evening parties. On the upper deck aft, the C-shaped sofa and broad sunbeds are designed for use day or night where there is a balance between sheltered living and panoramic views.

The skylounge joins to the formal dining area amidships which is left open-plan as a foyer. One large almost full-height window is placed to part and starboard, framing the ever-changing view while guests dine at one of the two eight-seater formal dining tables while a pianist plays on the central grand piano. The rooms forward can be used as the Owner desires, either as guest accommodation or as a cinema, gym, massage room or library among the possibilities.

The Master suite traditionally on the main deck of a motor yacht receives its own apartment on the upper deck forward, where sofas line the wall beneath the curving glass windows, opposite which is placed the king-sized bed. The wings to either side lead to a private lounge and an en-suite bathroom. Glass sliding doors lead out to the foredeck, where there is a recessed Jacuzzi surrounded by sunbeds and a helipad on the bow. Additional accommodation behind can be modified for twin or double configurations and ensures excellent views, plenty of natural light and a comfortable night’s rest away from the engine room.

Elsewhere, there is a spacious swimming pool of 9m/29.5ft and 4.5m/14.7ft wide on the main deck aft and a generous beach club featuring a bar with glass details on the lower deck.

In addition to the 22 guests accommodated across the decks, the crew quarters provide for 32 to ensure smooth operations and impeccable service on board.

The oyster 1225, the oyster 1225 combined the pinnacle of luxury with exceptional sailing capabilities of a large, 120 foot sailing yacht..

With her generous stowage and large tankage she was perfectly provisioned for extended ocean passages and global adventures in complete luxury and comfort. She offered the ultimate sailing experience for guests, featuring state-of-the-art 4 spreader fractional carbon spar configured for a fully battened, in-boom furling mainsail and a roller furling headsail. She was constructed to meet stringent DNV-GL build and safety standards, and was also compliant with the MCA LY3 yacht code.

This large, 120 foot sailing boat was designed for entertaining in style, with wide, flush fore and aft decks provided perfect spaces for guests to entertain and enjoy. The sunken tender well doubled as a chillout lounge and outdoor cinema. The enclosed cockpit, protected by a hard top bimini, made a beautiful space for al fresco entertaining. Below, the split-level saloon accommodated up to 12 guests in style. The generous stowage space provided plenty of room for watersports and adventure equipment. In addition, she featured a large superyacht style swim platform as standard.

The exceptional volume of the 1225 meant the interior layout was versatile and highly-customisable to suit one’s personal tastes. The focus was on luxury and comfort, with beautiful hand-crafted furniture, solid wood throughout and meticulous attention to detail. Up to 12 guests could be accommodated in the generous and luxurious ensuite owner and guest cabins – all aft guest cabins featured the signature seascape windows, flooding cabins with light. Forward are dedicated crew cabins and a mess for up to six crew with separate access, which afforded guests complete privacy. Abdulbaki senol presents his 120m yacht respectively gigayacht concept..

The 120m yacht features a touch-and-go helipad on the foredeck. Under the helipad is the tender garage that houses two RIBs and four jet skis. The sundeck contains a Jacuzzi forward and another one aft surrounded by sunbeds. Furthermore, there is a bar for eight people. A large swimming pool can be found on the main deck. In front of the pool is a generous sofa area, shaded by the upper deck. The upper deck has further sunbeds and al-fresco dining for twelve people.

Inside of the 120m Superyacht

The 120m yacht accommodates up to 22 guests and a crew of 32 people. The main deck has eight guest cabins, a cinema, a large salon at the aft with two separate lounges, bars and armchair areas with coffee tables.

The upper deck contains the owners’ apartment with bedroom, bathroom, private lounge, private Jacuzzi, and direct access to the helipad. The upper deck also has two more guest cabins, a dining area with two separate tables (up to ten persons each) and a piano in the middle. The aft area is another salon with a big sofa area; the corners have tables with stools and lounge areas with coffee tables.

The bridge deck houses the wheelhouse and the captain’s cabin — moreover, further lounges, sofas and a large round table for up to 16 persons.

BREATHTAKING OPEN-AIR BEAUTY

The stage-like Sea View Terrace is born to overlook the marine panorama from a uniquely privileged point of view, suspending spectacularly over the water. At the same time, the superior sundeck makes for a perfectly relaxing sunbathing area, while the upper deck below it boasts the main outdoor dining area. Last but not least, the beach area beautifully and naturally connects the guests with the water and their natural surroundings.

THE PLEASURE OF PRIVACY

Nestled between the Sea View Terrace and the entrance to the salon, the main deck delivers another particularly surprising space: the refined and reserved private patio. An extension of the indoor living ambience as well as a protected outdoor zone, this creative and intimate environment encourages conviviality through easy-going lunching, dining or lounging moments.

ABSOLUTE AESTHETICS

As a detailed continuation of the reinvented spatial integrity on the Grande Trideck, the design-oriented attitude of every element exposes a liquid-like and essentialist soul. Every intervention occurs to remove the superfluous, focusing on a profoundly artisanal identity that enhances the architectural quality of the surroundings and the preciousness of the loose furniture through noble materials and special finishes.

AZIMUT D2P DISPLACEMENT TO PLANING HULL

The high-efficiency D2P® Displacement-to-Planing hull, combined with the extensive use of carbon fiber, reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 20 to 30%* at both slow and fast cruising speeds. The double chine hull comes to a wave piercer at the bow, minimizing the impact of sea conditions while increasing the waterline length and therefore reducing drag.

Azimut’s pioneering use of carbon fiber lamination goes beyond pure performance. The Carbon-Tech Generation offers expanded volumes on board, while maintaining excellent dynamic stability and perfect handling. Preserving the yacht’s low center of gravity, the carbon fiber was focused on the upper parts of the yacht, lightening the laminated components by up to 30% and reducing the natural roll momentum up to 15%.

A 130kW/h lithium-ion battery pack can support the yacht’s hotel load for up to 4 hours during the day and up to 8 hours at night. Now, it’s possible to enjoy the full superyacht experience without the noise, vibration and emissions of the generators, making daytime activities more pleasant and nighttime relaxation more peaceful.

12 curiosità su Kismet, il megayacht di 120 metri

Il proprietario dei Jacksonville Jaguars Shahid Khan è di nuovo all’opera. Il suo superyacht da 120 metri Kismet (ex Project Jag) dovrebbe fare il suo debutto quest’estate e, come al solito, è un’altra creazione pazzesca capace di attirare ogni sguardo.

Il terzo Lürssen costruito su misura per Khan ha una stazza lorda di 5.500 tonnellate, quasi il doppio del peso del suo ex yacht da 95 metri (anch’esso chiamato Kismet e ora ribattezzato Whisper), che ha venduto lo scorso settembre per la bella cifra di 160 milioni di dollari. Ma non è solo il nome a essere lo stesso. Entrambe le barche sono dotate di bracieri, videowall, campi da basket e lampadari stravaganti, ma questa volta Khan ha aggiunto una sala Nemo subacquea, una suite armatoriale su due piani e una pista da ballo al neon retrò. Lo scafo di questo colosso a sei ponti è ben 27 metri più lungo.

Le imbarcazioni di Khan

Il miliardario pakistano-americano ha la nomea di uno che non si accontenta. A bordo del suo precedente yacht, aveva ordinato a Reymond Langton un interno “Champagne e caviale” che urlava eccesso, con un pianoforte a coda personalizzato che si trovava sotto un’ampia scalinata Art Déco nera e oro. Anche il nuovo Kismet da 120 metri gode degli interni dello studio di design britannico, in collaborazione con la famiglia di Khan, mentre gli esterni sono di Nuvolari Lenard.

Il prezzo di noleggio settimanale di Kismet di circa 3,25 milioni di dollari lo rende uno degli yacht charter più costosi al mondo insieme a Flying Fox . Si tratta di una media di circa 272mila dollari ciascuno per 12 ospiti, alloggiati in nove cabine con bagno privato. L’equipaggio di 37 persone è a disposizione per rendere la settimana memorabile.

Una suite completa di giochi acquatici, dalle moto d’acqua Seabob alle tavole eFoil, fino ai Flitescooter e a uno scivolo gonfiabile, aggiunge ulteriore divertimento in riva al mare. Ci sono anche un ponte galleggiante per parcheggiare le moto d’acqua, un gommone e un deposito per un sommergibile privato.

Quando ci si avventura in esplorazione dalla nave madre, quattro tender, tra cui un Hodgdon da 11 metri e un Naiad da 12 metri, hanno l’incarico di trasportare i proprietari e i loro ospiti. Una scultura dedicata ai Jacksonville Jaguars

L’ex Kismet di Khan era difficile da non notare, grazie a una statua di un giaguaro d’argento che montava sul bompresso ogni volta che giocava la sua squadra della NFL. Questa volta ha deciso di rendere il grande felino un elemento permanente, incorporando una scultura in argento sul lato inferiore del bompresso. Porterà il vessillo della sua squadra di football NFL ovunque andrà in crociera sotto l’estremità della prua.

Un trionfo d’oro

L’abbagliante appartamento del proprietario, che si estende su due ponti, è coperto d’oro. Comprende una master suite con lucernario circolare, camino e rivestimenti murali dorati con lenzuola e tappeti abbinati. Ci sono due bagni, spogliatoi in marmo separati e una vasca idromassaggio privata a prua, nonché uno dei due saloni di parrucchiere/sale di bellezza a bordo. Le restanti cabine degli ospiti possono essere configurate come matrimoniali o doppie.

Mai senza musica

Una postazione dj sovrastante il ponte di poppa è il luogo in cui gli ospiti possono suonare un po’ di musica a bordo, ma è l’amore di Khan per i pianoforti personalizzati a rubare la scena. Un pianoforte a coda Bogányi nel ponte superiore è stato progettato dal pluripremiato pianista ungherese Gergely Bogányi. Le sue curve in picchiata e il corpo a sbalzo avvolgono una piastra in ghisa rosso cremisi che sostiene 21 tonnellate di tensione delle corde.

Crioterapia a bordo

Kismet è uno dei pochi yacht ad avere a bordo una camera per la crioterapia, e forse la prima vasca da bagno per la cromoterapia. Si trovano nella spa dedicata di ispirazione balinese sul ponte inferiore, insieme a un hammam, una sauna e una sala massaggi privata. Ci sono anche una palestra, una sala yoga e un juice bar, tutti con terrazze che si aprono sul mare.

Ispirazione arcade

In un omaggio ai giochi arcade retrò degli anni ’80, il “corridoio Tron” di Kismet include accenti al neon e una pista da ballo con matrice wireframe in rosa e blu, che si illumina per un effetto discoteca completo. Durante il giorno funge da rilassante punto di transizione tra l’area benessere e le aree dedicate agli ospiti, con divani relax e un cocktail bar.

Le piscine di Kismet

Quando le acque cristalline circostanti non bastano tre piscine, due con cascate, e quattro docce esterne potrebbero fare al caso dell’armatore. C’è anche un bar sull’acqua nella terrazza della piscina.

Esperienza cinematografica

Due cinema, uno all’aperto sulla plancia e uno al coperto sul ponte inferiore, offrono le ultime novità in fatto di film. Naturalmente, l’autentica esperienza cinematografica si presenta sotto forma di una finestra di visualizzazione subacquea a marchio Nemo. Si trova proprio sotto la tv a discesa da 150 pollici nella sala cinema, così gli ospiti possono avvistare gli squali di passaggio mentre guardano Lo squalo sullo schermo. I drink prima del film vengono serviti in quattro bar interni, tra cui lo Champagne bar e la sala dei vini.

Servizi di alto profilo

Davanti alla cabina armatoriale sul ponte di prua si trova un eliporto che può ospitare un elicottero H155 per i trasferimenti degli ospiti. Funge anche da campo da basket e da pickleball . Non è chiaro se Khan utilizzerà mai l’eliporto o lo manterrà esclusivamente per gli sport di squadra, come ha fatto nel precedente yacht.

Cucina stellata

Le opzioni culinarie di Kismet spaziano dalla cucina stellata al forno per pizza all’aperto, alla stazione di cottura teppanyaki e al barbecue sulla terrazza della piscina. Anche la disposizione dei posti non dovrebbe essere un problema, con configurazioni per un massimo di 24 ospiti sul ponte più elevato, 18 sul ponte principale e 14 sia sul ponte superiore sia su quello a bordo piscina.

Caminetti a bordo

Khan è da tempo un fan dei caminetti a bioetanolo, dato che aveva scelto di averne tre sul suo ex yacht. Questa volta ha aumentato il numero a quattro, accompagnandoli ad ambienti in marmo decorato. Ci sono anche due bracieri esterni per le serate fredde e riscaldamento a pavimento nelle aree ospiti.

Area business dedicata

Quando ci si occupa degli affari a bordo, un ufficio principale accanto alla piscina offre splendide viste sull’oceano e sul ponte esterno, ed è accessibile tramite una scala privata dalla suite dell’armatore. Dispone di un tavolo per conferenze e di una dispensa dedicata per ospitare riunioni.

Focus sulla scala

L’elaborata scala centrale di Kismet sembra avere gli stessi videowall dello yacht precedente, con tocchi di illuminazione verde e gialla. È completato da una manciata di facciate verdi con vegetazione. Altre piante sono sparse sui sei ponti dello scafo, in modo da portare l’esterno all’interno.
