Adriatic42, a mega yacht yard in Bijela, Montenegro, is officially operational

Adriatic42 a joint venture company between PM Holdings LLC, an Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD) company, and Drydocks World Dubai, a DP World company, was recently officially launched. The announcement marks the beginning of significantly enhanced operations at the facility in Bijela, Herceg Novi, Montenegro. The world's largest sailing yacht, Black Pearl, became the first boat to dock in Adriatic42's superyacht yard earlier this month for its ongoing refit. The Government of Montenegro granted a 30-year concession for the former Bijela shipyard which is located in the one of the safest natural harbours in the world, under Adriatic42, the shipyard is undergoing a comprehensive redesign, transforming it into a premium superyacht refit and maintenance facility. The launch was attended by His Excellency President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, His Excellency Mohammed Al Shaibani, Managing Director of ICD, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, Captain Rado Antolović, CEO of Drydocks World and Chairman of Adriatic42, David Margason, Managing Director of Adriatic Marinas – Porto Montenegro, Stevan Katić, Mayor of Herceg Novi Municipality, Željko Komnenović, Mayor of Tivat Municipality, and numerous other dignitaries. Adriatic42 already employs approximately 100 staff, who bring a long tradition of maritime expertise to the yard. The former Bijela shipyard, nearly 100 years old, was the largest ship repair yard in the Southern Adriatic. The new joint venture will extend this maritime heritage. Its location in one of the most sought-after seas in the world, makes it a haven for the global luxury yachting community.  His Excellency President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović , said: "From this day onwards, the launch of Adriatic42 puts Montenegro at the centre of the world’s nautical tourism industry. Adriatic42’s comprehensive facility and service offerings from quality repairs and fabrication, as well as moorings, will allow yacht owners to enjoy Montenegro’s world-class marinas all year round.    "We now have an international standard marina and refurbishment facility in the country, which further positions our nation as a prime tourism destination in Europe and the Mediterranean. Furthermore, Adriatic42 will be a beacon for economic opportunity in the country culminating in hundreds of jobs thanks to the shipyard, as well as a conduit for specialised small and medium sized businesses who can support the yachting industry.   "Adriatic42 represents a massive opportunity for our country, now and in the future." Adriatic42: Shipyard Started with Work

The installation of the biggest floating dock in the Adriatic signifies the beginning of a new era for Bijela shipyard, which is being transformed into a superyacht service facility

Adriatic42, located in the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro , is a joint venture of PM Holdings LLC, an Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD) and Drydocks World Dubai. The shipyard with the facility for the overhaul and repair of the largest yachts in the world started with work in October 2022.

The first yacht overhauled on the new floating dock was the Black Pearl, the largest sailboat in the world. In the coming years, Adriatic42 plans to completely redesign the old shipyard Bijela into a premium superyacht refit and maintenance facility poised to become the location of choice for the highest standards of quality and services.

In one of the safest natural harbors in the world, Adriatic42 promises to be the core of the Adriatic superyacht hub, with its exceptional and excellent surroundings, such as Porto Montenegro’s superyacht marina.

Beginning of significantly operations

The shipyard is undertaking a comprehensive overhaul that will transform it into a premium superyacht refit and maintenance facility, positioning it as the preferred location for services. The new refit shipyard is part of Drydocks World, a DP World company that has been a prominent provider of marine and offshore services to the shipping, oil, gas, and energy sectors over the last four decades. Drydocks World undertakes over 300 repair projects each year and has handled 42 refurbishment projects at the same time.

The newly founded company in Montenegro’s historical Bijela offers the next level of refit service operations, backed by the world-renowned Porto Montenegro marina and the arrival of the new floating dock

Customers rely on Drydocks World to perform flawlessly in the finest tradition of engineering and ship repair expertise, with a wide choice of high-quality, warranty-protected, and cost-effective services. What is notable is that the new shipyard will be supervised by international and local experts, along with their project teams, providing a significant opportunity for the local community to cultivate highly competent experts in the field of yacht repair and maintenance. Bijela’s proximity to the marinas of Porto Montenegro and Portonovi makes it an ideal location for the maintenance of local yachts , but it will also draw many more yachts from all over the world looking for premium services in both the Adriatic and Mediterranean regions.

The Next Level Refit at Adraitic 42

The Floating Dock that arrived in June started with work in October 2022 and is the cornerstone of the new project, with massive lifting capabilities compared to the rest of the Adriatic region. The floating dock is 180 x 37 metres and has two 10 t cranes with a lifting capacity of 10.000 t. Additionally, the shipyard will include a large travel lift with a capacity of 720 t, and a Syncrolift with a capacity of 6400 t is planned for 2024. With 186.000 square metres of hard stands and 8.000 metres of workshops for 2022/23, as well as floating and fixed jetties, it will be one of the most prominent refit points in the East Med.

The new project is led by international experts in close collaboration with the local workforce

It’s no surprise that major subcontractors from around Europe are ‘joining the party,’ and it will be fascinating to watch this transition unfold. They have previously stated that they will be able to provide superyacht finish paint at very competitive rates. At the same time, due to the partnership with the marina, yacht crews will be able to enjoy the facilities of nearby Porto Montenegro (only 1.2 km away), backed by a shuttle service, featuring a large leisure program all year round.

Herceg Novi, 28. oktobar – U Herceg Novom, u nekadašnjem brodogradilištu u Bijeloj, danas je zvanično otvoren projekat Adriatic 42 i počeo rad jedinstvenog objekta za popravku i održavanje mega jahti.

Današnjem otvaranju projekta prisustvovali su predsjednik Crne Gore Milo Đukanović, Njegova ekselencija, član odbora i izvršni direktor The Investment Corporation of Dubai Muhamed Al Shaibani, Njegova ekselencija predsjednik i izvršni direktor DP World Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, predsjednik Borda direktora Adriatic 42 kapetan Rado Antolović, izvršni direktor kompanije Adriatic Marinas, Porto Montenegro David Margason, predsjednik Opštine Herceg Novi Stevan Katić, predsjednik Opštine Tivat Željko Komnenović te brojne druge zvanice.

Predsjednik Crne Gore Milo Đukanović poručio je će se, uz Adriatic 42, Crna Gora u svijetu predstaviti kroz zaokruženu ponudu nautičkog turizma.

„Adriatic 42 će vlasnicima jahti i njihovim posadama pored veza, nuditi i kvalitetan remont, što ih lišava obaveze da se svake godine privremeno sele iz crnogorskih marina. Sve to kao jedan reprolanac, već je kompletirano u našoj zemlji koja, takoreći do juče nije imala iole ozbiljne marinske kapacitete. I to doprinosi percepciji Crne Gore kao nove turističke destinacije na Mediteranu i u Evropi. Razvojem projekta planirano je otvaranje više stotina radnih mjesta. Pored onih u samom brodogradilištu, stvoriće se i prilike za dopunsko angažovanje brojni malih firmi koje pružaju specijalističke usluge, što predstavlja lijepu priliku ne samo za sadašnju, već i za buduće generacije“, kazao je Đukanović.

Član odbora i izvršni direktor The Investment Corporation of Dubai Njegova ekselencija Muhamed Al Shaibani poručio je da su ponosni što se zajednička investicija njihovog operativnog poslovanja u Crnoj Gori, PM Holdings LLC i lidera u pomorskoj industriji DryDocks World, ostvaruje kroz otvaranje projekta Adriatic 42.

„Zajedno smo dijelili dugogodišnju ambiciju da ponovo aktiviramo nekadašnje crnogorsko brodogradilište Bijela u Bokokotorskom zalivu, a projekat Adriatic42 za remont i popravku, sa izvanrednom marinom za superjahte Porto Montenegro u blizini, stvoriće jedinstveno i nenadmašno iskustvo – cjelogodišnji centar za jahte na Mediteranu. Ovo je samo početak projekta Adriatic 42 i radujemo se mogućnostima zapošljavanja i prosperiteta koje će donijeti Crnoj Gori”, kazao je Al Shaibani.

Predsjednik Borda direktora Adriatic 42, kapetan Rado Antolović rekao je da, današnjim otvaranjem jedinstvenog objekta za popravku i održavanje mega jahti, počinje nova era razvoja pomorske industrije i jahtinga u Crnoj Gori.

„Na temeljima koji ovdje, na ovom po mnogo čemu posebnom mjestu, postoje od 1927. godine danas i zvanično počinje nova, održivija i modernija faza razvoja brodogradnje i remonta u Crnoj Gori. Nabavkom najbolje moguće infrastrukture i realizacijom brojnih drugih investicija, u ovaj projekat dosad je uloženo preko 40 miliona eura. Posvećen rad oko 100 sjajnih ljudi koji čine Adriatic 42 omogućio je da naš prvi klijent bude jedna od najvećih jahti na svijetu – Black Pearl. Svi naši klijenti će biti u prilici da dobiju uslugu najviših svjetskih standarda, zasnovanu na znanju naših brojnih međunarodnih i lokalnih stručnjaka“, poručio je Antolović.

Antolović je posebno naglasio važnost zaštite životne sredine, koja je jedan od ključnih prioriteta kompanije Adriatic 42.

„Znamo koliko je važno da sačuvamo ogromno prirodno bogatstvo jedinstvene Boke Kotorske. Zato je održivi pristup, koji podrazumijeva najviše ekološke i bezbjednosne standarde za sprečavanje zagađenja životne sredine, princip od kojeg ne odstupamo. Upravo nam nova i moderna oprema omogućava energetski efikasan način poslovanja i pametno korišćenje alternativnih izvora energije. Uvjeren sam da će nas, naši budući klijenti, prepoznati kao pouzdanog partnera, a Crnu Goru kao najbolju jahting destinaciju“, zaključio je Antolović koji je najavio da će se projekat i dalje razvijati kroz različite faze.

Vlada Crne Gore dala je koncesiju od 30 godina na nekadašnje Brodogradilište Bijela. Koncesija je data konzorcijumu koji čine The Investment Corporation of Dubai i kompanija Drydocks World Dubai.
