Guide to Phi Phi Islands

The land of all night parties and silverscreen beaches

Set adrift between the island of Phuket and the coast of Krabi, Koh Phi Phi owes its legendary reputation to the awe-inspiring Maya Bay and an all but unrivalled nightlife scene.

Distinctly lacking in hotels and urban developments, Ko Phi-Phi Leh has become a veritable retreat for hedonists and peace seekers alike. Indeed, the island is as famed for its notorious Full Moon parties as its awe-inspiring landscape. Resplendent in wildlife and home to a marine national park, the Ko Phi-Phi islands are an ideal destination to visit during a yacht charter vacation in South East Asia .

Home to one of the most famous beaches in the world, the island’s Maya Bay was the setting for 2000 Hollywood blockbuster The Beach. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, the movie tells the story of a young explorer looking for the world’s most perfect beach. Since its release, discerning travellers have set out to the Phi Phi islands to experience the paradise-like setting for themselves.

Fringed by colourful coral reefs, the waters of the bay are ideal for casual snorkeling and more advanced diving excursions. Heading beneath the surface,  divers can expect to get up close and personal with everything from frogfish to manta rays and leopard sharks.

As well as a rich array of marine life to enjoy, the nearby ‘monkey beach’ is only a short cruise away. As the name suggests, this beach is inhabited by small primates who will be only too happy to swim over and introduce themselves. Anyone setting out to the beach should make sure they’re armed with some supplies- the monkeys are known to be very fond of any snacks they can retrieve from passers-by.

Contrasting the tranquility of the beach and the waters of the Andaman sea which surround it, Loh Dalum on the north facing coast of the island hosts all night parties that typically include fire shows and performances from world-renowned DJs. Ultimately, this is a destination that really does allow its visitors to indulge in the best of both worlds.

In many ways, the Phi Phi islands is the preserve of those on a yacht charter vacation - its location means that it’s only possible to arrive by boat, so it doesn’t suffer from the same crowding as other legendary destinations.

If you'd like to start your planning a superyacht charter vacation which includes this idyllic pair of islands, you can take the first step by viewing the complete of fleet of Thailand luxury charter yachts .

Phi Phi Island Private Boat Tour

Yacht on Rent - Destination Phuket Phi Phi Islands Pic1

Just an hour or two’s sailing from Phuket is this group of six islands, which are located in a marine national park in the Andaman Sea. Only one of the islands is inhabited – Phi Phi Don – but you can check them all out with a private boat charter Phi Phi Island itinerary. As local yachting specialists, we have created a full day tour package that hits the highlights of this beautiful tropical archipelago, which can be booked by contacting us at any time. If you would like to spend more time exploring the islands, we can put together a custom itinerary for you: just let us know when you would like to sail and for how long, and we’ll take care of all the details.

Explore with a Private Yacht Charter: Phi Phi Islands Highlights

Phi phi leh island:.

Maya Bay, on the west coast of Phi Phi Leh island, is undoubtedly the most famous of the sights to see in this part of the world, being the location where much of The Beach was shot. If you haven’t seen the film starring Leonardo DiCaprio that was based on the cult classic by Alex Garland, you’re in for a treat. Loh Sama (Sama Bay), separated from Maya Bay by a tall limestone cliff, can be reached at low tide through a short tunnel in the cliff and is another great snorkelling and scuba diving site. Pi Leh Bay, on the eastern side of the island, is a gorgeous lagoon surrounded by towering limestone cliffs. Snorkelling in its crystal clear, emerald-green waters offers the opportunity to see beautiful tropical marine species such as the colourful parrot fish, in their natural environment. On the northern end of Phi Phi Leh is Viking Cave, which is a natural cave in the base of a limestone cliff. If you wonder what the precarious-looking bamboo scaffolding is for when you visit Viking Cave, it’s used to reach the birds’ nests that are harvested by locals here, for use in Chinese medicine. For anybody who is planning a private boat Phi Phi Island tour, Phi Phi Leh is a must visit destination.

Phi Phi Don Island:

For a change of pace, a visit to Monkey Beach on the southwest side of Tonsai Bay (on the main island of Phi Phi Don) is an excellent choice. Taking its name from the long-tailed macaques that live in the limestone cliffs forming a dramatic backdrop to the strip of pristine coral sand, Monkey Beach is popular with visitors from across the world. It’s also another fantastic snorkelling location, with many stunning tropical marine species making their home in the warm, clear waters.

Bamboo Island:

About 2.7 nautical miles (5 kilometres) north of Phi Phi Don is Bamboo Island. If you’re taking a private boat to Phi Phi island from Phuket, this tiny, heart-shaped island should not be missed. Consisting of a strip of white coral sand surrounding a central area populated by bamboo and casuarinas trees, Bamboo Island is circled by a coral reef, making it yet another great location in this area for snorkelling and scuba diving.

Chartering a Private Yacht: Phuket to Phi Phi and Beyond

Whether you would like to take advantage of our day-trip package to see all the highlights in one day or plan a longer cruise that takes in more of the islands and surrounding attractions, we can turn your yachting dreams into reality.  Contact us now to let us know exactly what you are looking for and we will be delighted to help you organise the perfect Phi Phi island private boat tour.

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

Nestled in the Krabi Province, Phi Phi Islands is an exquisite destination in Southern Thailand, renowned for its breathtaking beauty. Part of the Hat Noppharat Thara National Park, the two primary islands, Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh, boast stunning beaches and vibrant coral reefs that make it a true paradise on earth. Notably, the iconic Maya Bay had been closed for more than three years for restoration but has recently reopened to visitors in early 2023. I had the opportunity to explore this mesmerizing bay, and it was truly a spectacular experience! If you’re considering a visit to the Phi Phi Islands, you are at the right place as this detailed review will bring you to travel the true paradise of Thailand.

✨👀 If you’re reading this travel review on my blog for the first time, I just want to say hello! My name is Kot and I’m real 100% Thai. Therefore, you can be confident that this Thai travel review is a genuine local review, not a travel review done by foreigners or Farangs. So, let’s travel like real Thai locals. Yeahh!

A One-Day Tour to Phi Phi Islands

Embarking on a one-day tour to the Phi Phi Islands, complete with snorkeling and coral viewing, is both convenient and enjoyable. Whether you’re coming from Phuket or Krabi, I recommend booking a tour for a hassle-free experience. The tour staff will take care of you, ensuring safety with experienced and knowledgeable boat captains. Additionally, a guide will provide information about various attractions during the trip. To select a tour operator, first determine your departure location (either Krabi or Phuket) and then choose a tour company that suits your needs.

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

Booking Phi Phi Island Tours Online

You can easily book Phi Phi Island tour programs through platforms like Klook or KKday. I chose to book with Koh Phi Phi Tour . Both Klook and KKday offer a variety of options, such as speedboats, long-tail boats, or sunset-viewing tours. Be sure to explore the options below to find the perfect tour for your Phi Phi Islands adventure!

🛥 Phi Phi Island Tours departing from Krabi Province:

  • [Klook] One-day tour from Krabi to Phi Phi Islands by speedboat, operated by TTD (Koh Phi Phi Tour)
  • [Klook] One-day Phi Phi Island tour by speedboat from Krabi, operated by Sea Eagle

🛥 Phi Phi Island Tours departing from Phuket Province:

  • [Klook Exclusive] Full-day Phi Phi Island tour by speedboat or speed catamaran from Phuket, operated by Yacht Master

Exploring the Phi Phi Islands with Phi Phi Tour

This review, we are going to the Phi Phi Islands with Koh Phi Phi Tour (or TTD on Klook) , beginning with our departure from their private pier in Krabi province. The journey is seamless, thanks to their hotel pick-up and drop-off service. With over 30 years of experience, Koh Phi Phi Tour ensures a safe and enjoyable trip, led by skilled boat captains and accompanied by friendly, well-trained staff and knowledgeable guides.

That’s not all! Onboard, we’re treated to cold drinking water, refreshing fruits, and a delicious midday buffet meal. Snorkeling enthusiasts will appreciate the provided gear and life jackets, making this tour the epitome of convenience and fun!

Our first stop after a 40-minute boat ride is the tranquil Bamboo Island. We have about 40 minutes to explore this small Andaman Sea island, taking advantage of its pristine beach and serene atmosphere. As we arrived early, our boat was among the first to reach the island, resulting in fewer crowds.

Bamboo Island’s beach extends from the north to the east, offering ample space to stroll and explore. The island is well-equipped with a tourist service center, restaurants, restrooms, and even a tent camping area.

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

One of Bamboo Island’s hidden gems is its spectacular white-sand beach and crystal-clear waters. Surprisingly, the south of the island is home to an abundance of coral reefs, making it called as one of the best snorkeler’s paradise.

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

After an incredible time swimming, snorkeling, and enjoying the beach, we continued to the trip’s highlight: Maya Bay . Just a 30-minute journey from Bamboo Island, this breathtaking destination awaits!

Maya Bay (อ่าวมาหยา)

We arrived at Maya Bay on Phi Phi Leh, the larger of the two Phi Phi Islands, not long after leaving Bamboo Island. The erosion of its cliffs created Maya Bay, a small crescent-shaped cove surrounded by limestone mountains. Maya Bay’s stunning beauty has made it a popular tourist destination for both Thai and foreign visitors. The white sandy beach here is famous for its incredibly soft, powdery sand, which I can confirm! The sand is incredibly soft! Furthermore, the sea in Maya Bay is stunning emerald green, surrounded by tall cliffs and lush greenery.

This year, England’s Daily Star newspaper included Maya Bay in its “World’s 20 Most Beautiful Beaches” ranking, placing it at number 12. I must say, visiting Maya Bay is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I guarantee you’ll love it!

Alright! Once we arrived, our speedboat docked at the Loh Samah Bay pier. The area was packed with tourists, and each boat had to queue to dock and let passengers disembark. However, everything felt quite relaxed because the pier was well-organized, allowing people to quickly and easily board or disembark. After reaching the pier, we still had to walk about 50 meters to reach the actual beach.

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

And, as we all know, Maya Bay in the Phi Phi Islands was closed for renovations in 2018 due to an influx of tourists that was causing damage to the surrounding resources, including coral reefs and various marine species. So, when I finally got to visit this site on this trip, I was overjoyed. Not only would I get to see Maya Bay after three years, but it’s also known among foreigners as “The Beach,” the title of a movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio. The film was shot in Maya Bay around 1999, making the location famous around the world. It’s safe to say that anyone visiting Thailand should at least once visit Maya Bay and the Phi Phi Islands.

After Maya Bay was closed for renovation and environmental recovery for almost three years, several restrictions were put in place by the National Park authorities during my visit. They were quite strict, for example, prohibiting the use of chemical sunscreen, as the chemicals in sunscreen can harm the coral reefs under the sea. Another restriction I believe everyone will notice when arriving at the beach is that swimming is not allowed. If anyone accidentally wanders too deep into the water, the park officers will blow a whistle to warn them to return to the shore immediately. I must say, the park officers were very strict and serious, but we have to understand that all of their actions are to preserve nature for us to enjoy in the long run.

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

Let’s take a walk and explore the inner part of Phi Phi Leh Island together. I must say that the National Park authorities have done an excellent job in organizing visitor activities on the island, including well-maintained walkways. We walked along a long wooden bridge that stretched all the way to the beach of Maya Bay. The feeling upon arrival was amazing because the beach was stunningly beautiful – like a paradise on Earth. When my feet touched the sand, it was incredibly soft and comfortable. Personally, I had never experienced sand this soft before – and that’s the truth!

Not only was the sand delightful, but the seawater was also beautiful with a crystal-clear emerald green color. Moreover, the view of Maya Bay was surrounded by towering limestone mountains, with a gap in the center leading out to the sea – an incredibly scenic sight. I was truly in awe of the beauty that nature had crafted here.

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

For those who want to escape the crowds at the beachfront, I suggest walking to the far right towards the limestone mountains. This area tends to have fewer people, offering more privacy and a unique atmosphere for photography, with the backdrop of towering limestone mountains and the expanse of the sea. This place is truly a paradise on Earth. Even more exciting is the sight of baby blacktip reef sharks swimming close to the shore – a truly incredible scene. During my visit, I saw one shark swimming nearby. The fact that blacktip reef sharks are coming this close is a testament to the successful restoration of Maya Bay, with nature starting to thrive once again.

For me, Maya Bay gave me the feeling of being in a cove that’s embraced by limestone mountains. The highlight is the beach’s ultra-soft sand. With every step I took, it felt like walking on a plush carpet, providing an incredibly pleasant sensation. The fine-grained sand would mold itself to the weight of my feet, creating a truly relaxing experience. Since I started visiting beaches, I had never felt sand this soft before. I want everyone to see and experience it for themselves – it’s the absolute best, trust me.

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

Pileh Bay (Pileh Lagoon) / อ่าวปิเละ (ปิเละลากูน)

After that, we set off by boat and admired the beauty of Pileh Bay (Pileh Lagoon), which is surrounded by limestone cliffs and emerald-green waters. In some spots, we could even look down and see the coral reefs beneath the sea. This location is just as stunning and is a popular spot where various tours bring tourists to stop and take photos. As a result, you will see long-tail boats and speedboats packed into the area. Of course, the Phi Phi Island Tour Krabi also allowed us to take pictures at the front and back of the boat. The staff on board were very helpful in taking photos for us too, snapping multiple shots quickly so we could choose the best ones to post on social media with a stylish flair. I was very impressed!

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

Viking Cave (ถ้ำไวกิ้ง)

After we got tons of photos, we continued to Viking Cave, a sea cave discovered by ancient sailors. The cave is located on the side of a limestone cliff in the middle of the sea, just a short boat ride away from Pileh Lagoon. The interior of the cave is filled with stalactites and stalagmites and serves as a nesting site for swiftlets. The highlight of Viking Cave is the paintings on the cave walls, featuring images of three-masted sailing ships, various animals, and more. These paintings are the origin of the cave’s name, “Viking Cave.” It is an ancient cave that has been a part of the marine landscape for a very long time.

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

For Viking Cave, the speedboat will gently approach the cave, allowing you to appreciate its beauty from the outside only. Currently, the cave is under the exclusive concession of “Scotch Bird’s Nest Brand”, which collects bird’s nests from the cave. As a result, regular tourists like us are not allowed to enter and explore the inside of the cave.

Yung Gasem Bay or Monkey Bay (อ่าวหยงกาเส็ม หรือ อ่าวลิง)

Our trip to Phi Phi Island isn’t over yet. We sailed a little further in less than three minutes from the Viking Cave, and our boat made a stop at Haad Yung Gasem, or Monkey Bay, a small hidden bay in the middle of the sea. Since we went during high tide, we could only stop to admire the view and the monkeys climbing up and down the limestone cliffs. It was so cute to see them sleeping and playing around on the boat. This spot was another favorite of mine during the trip. Our boat lingered a bit so we could take some pictures of the monkeys before moving on to the next destination.

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

Loh Samah Bay (อ่าวโละซะมะ)

It’s time for those who love swimming and snorkeling, as Loh Samah Bay is a spot that is home to coral reefs and various types of fish. On the day I visited, the seawater was very clear, but the waves were quite strong. This was because, during the time of our visit to Krabi, it rained almost every afternoon. Luckily, there was no rain during our Phi Phi island tour on that day.

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

For snorkeling to see the coral reefs, the Phi Phi Island tour provides complete equipment for us, such as life jackets and snorkeling masks. The staff on the boat will distribute these to everyone on the tour. If you cannot swim, you can inform the staff beforehand, as they will get into the water to help and look after you closely. For some people, they might give you a rubber ring to hold onto and swim alongside you while you snorkel to see the coral reefs. This is excellent for those who are not good at swimming, as they will take good care of you and ensure your safety. They really pay attention to their guests.

I can definitely say that snorkeling in Loh Samah Bay is a lot of fun and results in many beautiful photos. You can see various rock formations, a wide variety of fish, and numerous coral reefs, making it feel like a hub of underwater wonders. In addition to enjoying the colors beneath the sea, you can also immerse yourself in beautiful nature. I absolutely love snorkeling at this spot.

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

Loh Lana Bay

Our morning tour schedule was complete. After we finished snorkeling, the Phi Phi Island tour took us to have lunch on Phi Phi Don Island, which was an all-you-can-eat buffet. We replenished our energy with a hearty meal before heading to the second snorkeling spot at Loh Lana Bay . The word “Loh” means beach, and “Lana” is likely derived from a woman’s name. Loh Lana Bay has a horseshoe shape with hills surrounding both ends of the bay and a long beach stretching about 500 meters.

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

The snorkeling spot here has a fair amount of coral and fish to see, but when compared to the first spot at Loh Samah Bay, the water there was clearer. At Loh Lana Bay, the water is slightly murkier, and the waves are calmer and more peaceful, making it easier for snorkeling. In other words, it doesn’t drain our energy too much.

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

I went snorkeling and explored the coral reefs for the entire time allotted. Although the water at this spot was murkier than the previous one, I still saw schools of small fish swimming around nearby. I enjoyed relaxing while floating in the water and experiencing the tranquil underwater atmosphere. This marked the perfect end to my full-day Phi Phi Island tour. I promise to explore more snorkeling spots in Krabi next time.

When the team signaled for us to reboard the boat, it brought us back to the dock where our adventure had started earlier in the day. A shuttle stood by to collect us and transport us back to our accommodations. The Phi Phi Island excursion was an enjoyable and unforgettable day filled with swimming, snorkeling, and taking in the stunning scenery of the bays. It was an amazing day in Krabi, and I wholeheartedly recommend everyone try this experience for themselves.

Resort I Stayed in Krabi Krabi Aonang Hill

On my Krabi trip, I had the pleasure of staying at Krabi Aonang Hill Resort , a place with an incredible ambiance, enveloped by mountains and lush nature. It felt like I was nestled amidst a serene forest, creating a rejuvenating, calming, and peaceful atmosphere. The resort was conveniently located near the beach, just a short 4-minute drive away. Accommodations included individual villas and separate rooms within a main building. My room, designed for three guests, was an excellent value at only 1,800 baht per night.

Besides the inviting environment of Krabi Aonang Hill , the rooms boasted all the necessary comforts, such as a television, fridge, hairdryer, and hot water. Towels were supplied for use inside the room, and additional towels were provided for swimming in the pool or beach activities. This added convenience made my island tour even more enjoyable. I was truly smitten with my stay.

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

The spacious room accommodated the three of us without feeling cramped. The beds were soft and comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. What I enjoyed most was the room’s large balcony, which extended towards the swimming pool. The balcony had a table and chairs set, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the cool breeze. For early risers, I highly recommend sitting and watching the birds and trees in the morning. Surrounded by the sounds of nature, the backdrop features mountains and towering cliffs, creating a truly enchanting atmosphere.

At Krabi Aonang Hill, guests are treated to a buffet breakfast featuring a wide array of options, including both Thai and Western dishes, in addition to cereals, milk, baked goods, and fruit. As for the taste, I think it appeals to all palates, and I award it full marks for its extensive selection.

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

With its stunning atmosphere, spacious rooms, and an array of breakfast choices, Krabi Aonang Hill is a fantastic accommodation option in Krabi. At a cost of just 600 baht per person, it provides excellent value for money. The resort offers comprehensive amenities, clean and spacious rooms, and a serene atmosphere surrounded by lush greenery. It’s perfect for a family getaway to unwind and relax. For those planning a trip to Krabi and looking for a convenient stay near tourist attractions and the beach, I highly recommend Krabi Aonang Hill – it’s truly worth the price.

Phi Phi Islands: A Local’s In-depth Travel Review

⚡️ Krabi Aonang Hill room rates start at 2,000 baht per night. Check prices and book through  Agoda / Booking.com / Expedia / Trip.com

Phi Phi Islands Yacht Charter

yacht master phi phi island

Phi Phi Ley Is an uninhabited island whose natural beauty is still unspoiled. The island is mostly composed of towering limestone cliffs that spring up at right angles with the blue water surface. The water is brightly turquoise with the abundant coral reefs and species of fish.

Laem Tong Beach Fairly quiet and remote, due to it’s location along the northern edge of the island, it is a rather remote location. With a gentle northern breeze flowing onto the beach from the ocean it is a great spot for cooling down in the hot summer, while the location offers protection from the violent summer winds from the west.

Loh Ba Gao Bay Phi Phi Island’s most secret and secluded paradise, as an extremely remote and isolated location, in one simple statement, Loh Ba Gao is a coconut paradise surrounded by white sandy beaches and mountain cliffs. Here you can view breathtaking sunsets. See and visit Camel Rock, where you can take in the amazing view, or snorkel in the clear blue waters.

Phak Nam Bay - Located on the untouched east side of the island, this amazing snorkeling point is located on Pak Nam Beach between Ran Tee Bay and Loh Bao Gao Bay. It is very peaceful place and is blessed with beautiful coral reef - ideal for diving and swimming.

Loh Dalam Beach - A popular destination with young people enjoying their visit to Phi Phi Island. The beach offers shaded sun beds and umbrellas and an outdoor restaurant has opened a few feet from the beach.

Maya Bay - Made famous for the Hollywood film "The Beach", the bay is great for snorkeling, with lots of coral gardens and colourful fish. Although it does get very busy with the speedboat trips.

Loh Samah Bay - Located on the southern tip of Phi Phi Le, offering a remarkably breathtaking panorama, its clear waters and its flourishing coral beds are good for skin diving and snorkeling. Viking Cave A place much revered by the local people who come here to collect the swift's nests used to make Bird's Nest Soup, a Chinese delicacy. On the eastern and southern walls of the cave are colored drawings dating from historic times. There are pictures of elephants and also of various boats: European, Arab, and Chinese sailing ships; barges, motorboats, and steamships. Just around the corner is Monkey Beach where you can disembark and visit the local wildlife and feed the monkeys who come down to greet the tourists.

Ton Sai Bay - Through the surrounding cliffs to the golden sands of Long Beach, Ton Sai Bay creates an awe inspiring spectacle. Ton Sai Bay stretches along a 2 kilometre wall of cliffs around to the main village which is on a 2 kilometre wide beach. With the sea dropping like a stone from the edge of the cliffs it is a natural deep water harbor. It is so deep that one of the more wild tours on Phi Phi Island is cliff jumping. One of our favorite Kayak trips is under the cliffs of Ton Sai at the end of the day, watching the Brahmin Raptors soaring over the bay in the early evening and paddling over the coral reef to hear the sounds of the jungle coming to life at sunset.

Ao Pileh - The dramatic Sea Lake Ao Pileh, has been eroded over millions of years and very nearly enclosed by the limestone walls of the island’s cliffs. The crystal clear waters are perfect and it is an amazing place for snorkeling and swimming – make sure you take the camera!

Koh Pida Nok - or "Outer Father" This small limestone cliff islet is Phi Phi Islands' best dive site due to its great diversity of marine life and is often visited on Thailand liveaboard cruises. The cliffs descend straight into the sea and are covered with soft corals and anemones of purple, green, blue and pink.

Koh Pida Nai - A small island visited mainly by divers for its underwater scenery. Ko Pida Nok is very good for both beginner and advanced divers, with both shallow and deep dive sites.

Laem Hin - This destination has the stunning scenic beauties and white sand to make a perfect beach vacation. Laem Hin beach has possibly the softest and finest white sand, on an island of fine soft sand. Laem Hin also offers excellent snorkeling. The perfect back drop and location will make your holiday truly special. The pristine beauty of the Laem Hin resembles a post card picture destination.

Yao Beach or Long Beach - One of the most famous locations on the island, not only does it offer a broad, sweeping beach and unbelievable scenery, but it is also home to some of the best coral reefs in the area. Snorkeling and scuba diving top the long list of things to do here. The only complaint might be a little too much development. Hat Yao can be reached on foot or by longtail boat from the pier at Ton Sai.

Koh Phai or Bamboo Island - One of the many tourist destinations on Phi Phi Island. While all the islands and attractions around the area have something special to offer, Bamboo Island has something that is extra special to share with tourists. The area is uninhabited, and therefore has the most pristine, unspoiled beaches known to man.

Koh Yung or Mosquito Island - This island has 2 small beaches and some well preserved offshore coral gardens. Good for snorkeling. The island gets its name from the black clouds of mosquitoes at sunset during certain times of the year.

Phi Phi Island is one of the most popular yacht charter destinations in South East Asia. It consists of six small islands approximately 46 km South of Phuket. The major islands being Phi Phi Don , which hosts the bohemian town of Phi Phi Island , and Phi Phi Lay which is where Maya Bay can be found, this is the iconic beach featured in the classic Leonardo DiCaprio movie “ The Beach ”.

On Koh Phi Phi Leh you will find the Viking Cave, which is arguably one of the most notable sites on the island. It’s located at the bottom of a tall limestone cliff on the north-eastern side and also allows you to discover one of the most profitable local industries: the hunting / harvesting of swiftlet birds’ nests. These edible birds’ nests are particularly prized in Chinese culture, as they are believed to promote good health and to be specifically good for your skin!

Loh Dalum (Dalum Bay in Thai) is as close to a truly idyllic, exotic tropical paradise as one could imagine! It's located on the north-facing coast of Phi Phi Don Island, opposite the popular Tonsai Bay . Because the land is so narrow, it’s only a 150 meter walk away from Tonsai’s ferry pier although the atmosphere here is remarkably different from that of its busy neighbour.

Pi Leh Bay is one of the most impressive sites on Koh Phi Phi Leh . Pi Ley Bay is known locally and often spelled as Ao Pileh, Pileh Lagoon, Pileh Cove or Pi Ley Cove. To describe its appearance one must picture a canyon, essentially cutting Koh Phi Phi Leh in two, with a distance of approximately 600m from end-to-end, this canyon in the sea creates a long, thin bay that offers really superb snorkelling opportunities!

Pi Leh Bay is framed by sheer vertical 100m tall limestone cliffs that are an iconic feature to the area, for the majority of the time you will be quiet comfortable in cooler / milder temperatures, as it’s in the shade most of the day, except of course between midday from around 11:00 and 13:00 where the sun is directly overhead and the heat certainly picks up, even in the shade!

Although despite the heat, midday is actually the best time to photograph the outstanding beauty of Pi Leh Bay’s emerald green water due to the clear light that make it an ideal time for taking nature shots through the glass like waters. At some spots, it even seems that the water is lit from the bottom of the sea, making it a spectacular sight to see - as the light reflects back to you providing fantastic natural illumination. You really need to see it for yourself!

Lastly - if you head over to the western side of Pi Leh Bay you’ll find a few smaller, more secluded beaches at the foot of the cliffs, although most of the boats visiting this area generally stay in the centre of the lagoon this spot is definitely worth a look if you want to anchor near a quiet beach.

Phi Phi Island is well known for its vertical limestone cliffs that rise sharply out of the emerald and turquoise coloured waters, which are accompanied by very clean, white powdery beaches. Its also home to many beautiful coral reefs which offer really top class diving and snorkelling sessions!

Start your cruise to the most famous sights of the Andaman Sea by visiting Phang Nga Bay .

Stop at Hong Island for an exciting cave canoe tour with the Thai guide. And then head to the Island of Koh Tapu (or James Bond ), one of Thailand’s must-see destinations. It got the second name after being the filming ground for the James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun, and is certainly worth a look.

After you enjoy lunch on board or in one of the restaurants ashore it’s time to chill while your captain is taking you around Phang Nga Bay and Krabi area. See the magnificent beaches nestled among high limestone cliffs and have a stop at one of those idyllic places.

The next stop of your trip is Phi Phi Islands , world renowned for their breathtaking scenery, stunning beaches and some of the best diving and snorkeling in Thailand. The yacht will drop anchor at Phi Phi Don Island . You can spend the night on board or in a hotel ashore.

Day 2

The early hours at Phi Phi islands are simply unforgettable. Step ashore before the tourist boats arrive to take a couple of memorable shots with the background of the dramatic cliffs.

Start the day by visiting the beaches and bays of Phi Phi Don Island, including Monkey Beach , Nui Bay , and others. Then continue the tour to the Island of Phi Phi Leh and Maya Bay , the shooting location for the film The Beach featuring Leonardo DiCaprio. The bay is now closed for visiting with the aim to restore the marine environment. Nevertheless, seeing the place in its untouched beauty is an unforgettable experience!

There are also Loh Samah Bay and Pileh Lagoon that certainly deserve seeing. Though, being a very popular landmark, Phi Phi Leh can become quite busy by lunchtime.

While cruising back to Phuket the captain will stop at one of the Secret Islands , a great place for lunch and snorkeling before you complete your voyage.
