The ELASTEC Inlander (aluminum work boat) is a hybrid of hull styles (Skiff, John, Sled) to give you a multi-purpose boat with unique capabilities. The modified V hull with a blunt bow, high sides, and a wide stance increase the payload to double that of similar boats, an impressive, 4,000 lbs./1,800 kg – added to which they can be lashed together for even more versatility. The Inlander is perfect for oil spill response, emergency response, rescue, cargo hauling, and commercial fishing applications.

LANDING CRAFT

ELASTEC aluminum landing craft are designed to operate in shallow or open water conditions. Recognizing that response and waterway maintenance may require beaching, they are fitted with a bow ramp. These impressive aluminum work boats can typically achieve 30 to 40 knots depending on choice of propulsion options.

OMNI CATAMARAN

The ELASTEC Omni Catamaran is a versatile aluminum work boat that offers a variety of waterway maintenance and marina services applications. Its interchangeable “pods” are easily exchanged to facilitate various marine tasks such as: collecting floating debris, transporting cargo, pumping out boat sewage, cutting invasive aquatic weeds, supporting diving operations, lifting buoys and responding to oil spills.

PLATFORM WORKBOAT

The ELASTEC Platform Workboat is manufactured at our Carmi, Illinois USA facility. Its rugged design allows for this versatile utility service barge to perform a variety of waterway maintenance and marina tasks. This vessel requires minimal upkeep as it has few moving parts and its propulsion is provided by a single outboard. Custom deck arrangements are available per your design or project specifications.

STATE-OF-THE-ART Facility

Approximately 85 miles North of Seattle, All American Marine’s production facility is located along the Northern shore side of Bellingham Bay in Bellingham, Washington. In early 2017, AAM moved into the brand new, purpose-built 57,000 square foot boat construction facility located on Squalicum Harbor, allowing for multiple vessels of varying sizes to be in construction simultaneously with staggered production schedules.

All American Marine (AAM), together with NOAA, are proud to announce the launch of RV GANNET for NOAA Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary (GRNMS). GRNMS is located 19 miles off Sapelo Island, Georgia, and is one of 15 marine sanctuaries and monuments that make up the U.S. National Marine Sanctuary System. Lake Conroe, TX: Montgomery County ESD 1 is responsible for fire/rescue and emergency response operations on Lake Conroe, a 22,000 acre lake with 157 miles of shoreline.   Their 30’ Munson fire/rescue boat includes a Hale Attack Max 500 GPM fire pump with bow monitor and hose discharges, tow post, engine guard, dive ladder, Whelen LED light bar, search light, dual Humminbird Helix 12 displays and triple axle trailer.

LaConner, WA: M/V High End Hooker is a first class sport fishing machine. The cabin has a large galley, overnight accommodations and head compartment with shower. Anacortes, WA: M/V Serenity Now is used to comfortably transport its owners and guests to and from their island summer home. An ultra-high resolution multibeam sonar was installed in a custom transducer well on centerline of the catamaran tunnel section. Additional outfitting includes a two person survey desk, computer cabinet, cabin heater, lifting davit, push knees, tow post and engine guard.

Bahamas: The 30’ Monsoon lives aboard a 48 meter yacht to serve as a fishing, diving and beach tender. The cabin accommodates seating for up to 8 passengers and includes a head, galley and air conditioning. Flybridge controls with joystick piloting offers excellent visibility when navigating over shallow reefs. The main deck and rooftop are finished with SeaDek to keep surfaces cool in intense heat and sun. Cargo deck tie down pockets allow for transport of various motorcycles to and from the mothership. Michigan City, IN: Indiana Division of Fish & Wildlife is responsible for fisheries management, research, and aquatic invasive species. Their 30’ Munson boat is outfitted with a hydraulic net roller powered by a Honda GX390 power pack. Snug Harbor, WA: M/V Steel Wheel splits her time between the San Juan Islands and the California Coast. Her 8’6” beam makes her easily trailerable on the highway. An aft control station, 9.9 HP kicker motor, and Scotty downriggers make her a sport fishing machine. The 10’ long cabin is outfitted with a convertible settee, full galley and head compartment. Marina del Rey, CA: Los Angeles County Department of Beaches & Harbors is responsible for keeping its world-renowned coastline clean and safe, particularly during inclement weather, flooding, fires, tsunamis, earthquakes, oil spills and other emergencies. Their 30’ Packcat is outfitted with a MaxiLift 110 knuckle boom crane, Warn 2000-S deck winch, Furuno NavNet radar/plotter/sounder, VHF & 800 Mhz radios, tow light mast, amber strobe lights, LED flood lights, solar battery charger, and trailer. Portland, OR: The Multnomah County Sheriff's River Patrol Unit provides safe commercial and recreational access and passage to the country's 5th largest port, and 110 miles of waterways along the Columbia River, Willamette River, and Sandy River. In addition, the River Patrol Unit provides law enforcement and search & rescue services to all rivers, lakes, shorelines and islands in Multnomah County. Their 30' Munson provides security protection to moorages, marinas, and houseboat communities, and responds to life-threatening calls for service, such as boat collisions, drownings, missing persons, and environmental hazards.

Soldier Cay, Exumas: Elegant Fowl splits her time between the Bahamas and Scotland. In Scotland the Elegant Fowl is operated as hunting and fishing expedition boat. Cabin heat, a full galley and sleeping for three keep the crew happy on cold days. When the boat is in the Bahamas, the forward deck is used for transporting a golf cart and fishing trips. An elevated steering station provides excellent visibility while navigating reefs.

Burnaby, BC: Western Canada Marine Response Corporation maintains an extensive inventory of the most sophisticated spill response equipment available today. It is their mandate to ensure preparedness and protection during oil spills and environmental incidents. Burrard Cleaner No. 4 is the latest addition to their fleet. The wheelhouse is equipped with seating for four and a concealed portable head. Special locker inserts take advantage of under deck space for storage.

Charleston, SC: The Charleston Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol Division provides port security, escorts foreign flag vessels into and out of Charleston Harbor, as well as assisting boaters in distress. The unit also supports the Underwater Recovery Team. Vessel features include a Kohler generator and SHOX suspension seats. The co-pilot console houses a side scan sonar system used during recovery operations and crime scene investigation.

Model: 30-27 Dive

Portland, OR: This 30' Packcat supports the United States Air Force 304th RQS maritime operations including diving, water jumps, RAMZ jumps, search and rescue, and emergency response. It is capable of operating at night in extreme weather conditions and swift contaminated water. It is also used to support local authorities in the Pacific Northwest's disaster preparedness plans. Emergency equipment includes a roof mounted stretcher, defibrillators, generator, and first aid supply lockers.

Sanford, FL: Encore Construction Company operates in the St. Johns River near Sanford transporting equipment and fuel to county raw water pump stations on a canal. They also make their vessel available to the local Fire Department for search and rescue. Special features include a roof-mount solar battery charger, hydraulic transom jacks, and a control console bimini top. Tilting T-top windows provide plenty of ventilation on hot days.

Washington, D.C. : DC Metropolitan Police operate their Munson as a multipurpose harbor patrol boat and buoy tender. It is capable lifting 400 lb. buoys out of the water and onto the deck safely. Harbor patrol officers use this vessel as a dive platform during underwater investigation and evidence retrieval missions. Special deck lockers contain Reel Easy sonar tether systems. The Harbor Patrol uses these tether systems to deploy advanced bottom scanning sonar pods during salvage operations.

Wilmington, NC: Sea Exploration, Inc. approached Munson to build a specialized tender for their ship M/V Navigator. The tender's primary function would be to support research and diving operations while at sea. The wheelhouse features seating for four and forced air cabin heat. The deck is outfitted with a retractable canvas Bimini top and four-way lifting eyes. A paint scheme to match the mother ship and superior fit and finish make her a great addition to Sea Exploration's fleet.

Linden, NJ: On any given day, the ConocoPhillips' Bayway Refinery can process up to 238,000 barrels of crude oil from its plant alongside the New Jersey Turnpike in Linden. It's a tradition that goes back more than 100 years, to when John D. Rockefeller built the place. The refinery incident response team's Munson supports spill response and cleanup efforts. A crane hoists the vessel into the water using its four-way lifting eyes.

Lake Havasu, AZ: Lake Havasu is one of the most popular boating destinations in the Southwest. Lake Havasu City Fire Department is responsible for the safety of vessels on the lake's Arizona side. Two Hale HP550 Minuteman pumps supply two monitors and a foam induction monitor. The specialized T-top roof with ladder access provides backboard storage. Rescue and dive equipment is housed in removable deck seat lockers.

Cameroon, West Africa: Cameroon is blessed with gorgeously calm waters off its 400 km shoreline. But in recent years piracy has descended upon coastal settlements. The Cameroon Special Forces Rapid Intervention Battalion commissioned 9 high speed interception craft to give the pirates a real run for their money. The main deck is equipped with an extended roof T-top, six helm seats mounted on storage lockers and a canvas Bimini top.

Bay City, MI: The discharge of pollution into Detroit's Lower Rouge River is now controlled by Michigan's wastewater permitting program. Contamination, however, may still be in the river's sediment. The EPA Research Vessel Mudpuppy II is a shallow draft vessel specifically designed for studies to determine the nature and extent of contaminated sediment in the Great Lakes basin. Features include an Onan 17 kW genset, removable sampling tables, and a Maxilift 1,100lb crane.

Queen Charlotte Island, BC : Highlander Marine Services Ltd (HMS) provides fast, efficient and economical transport in all types of marine support services. M/V Highlander is a Transport Canada Certified passenger carrying vessel with deck space for vehicles, research equipment, and anything else their clients can think of. Special features include a 12 person canister life raft, diesel forced air cabin heater, flood lights, and a fly bridge control console.

Edmonds, WA: Fishing is the name of the game in the Munson family. Moored in the same marina where Bill Munson got his start in 1963 is his fishing battlewagon, the Munson Express. The aft deck is outfitted with a bait station, 12v downriggers and rod storage. A 50 Hp center-mount kicker controlled by the aft station delivers precise trolling speeds. The wheelhouse features and enclosed head, wrap around settee, and a full galley cabinet.

Ninilchik, AK: The Ninilchik Native Association had a need oversee use of the land it owns on both sides of Cook Inlet. With 70,000 acres on the inlet's east side and claim to more than 100,000 acres on the west side, the Native association had been challenged to monitor who was where and what they were up to. 3-D bottom-viewing sonar allows the safe maneuvering of the rock-strewn shallows off the inlet's west shore.

“I really like my 34’ Munson. There’s been high demand in my area for a dive boat and the Munson makes a really good dive platform. I’ve carried a lot of weight on this boat, (exceeding 5,000 lbs on many occasions,) and have never seen the load have any impact on the boat’s ride or handling. This boat handles really well. I go out all the time when there are small craft warnings without any difficulty. The ride can get a bit uncomfortable in gale force winds, (as you would expect) but I’ve never felt unsafe in this boat. I’ve run in seas that are considerably taller than the boat without difficulty.

I’m not an expert regarding metal fabrication, but everyone who has seen my boat and who is knowledgeable about metal work has gone out of their way to tell me that it’s got the best welding of any metal fabrication that they’ve ever seen. One guy who does welding for a living told me that the welds on my boat could be considered the “Olympic gold medal” standard for welding. This boat is really well put together.

I’m completely happy with this boat and don’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone. If and when I buy another boat, (when my wife let’s me) it’s going to be another Munson.”

Aluminum Catamarans

2022 Boat of the Year: Best Performance Catamaran

OK, confession time. When the roster of nominees for the 2022 Boat of the Year awards was released, the contest’s team and judging panel couldn’t help themselves, and quietly put three check marks, little symbols of anticipation, alongside a trio of boats: the untamed cats that would vie for the title of best performer in their class. After all, both Balance and Seawind had entered the winner’s circle in previous BOTY competitions, and it was clear they’d have a serious contender for the throne in yet another player from cat-crazy South Africa, the Kinetic KC54. How’d it go? Let’s just say, nobody was disappointed. The conditions on Chesapeake Bay were ideal for putting the three nominees through their paces, and the trio of scalded cats all acquitted themselves superbly. 

For 2022, if anything, the trend for flybridge catamarans is on a major upswing. New cats for 2022 from both Lagoon and Fountaine Pajot continued down that design path, putting an emphasis on living accommodations, not performance. But not aboard the latest Seawind 1600 , a brand originally built in Australia that is now produced in Vietnam. And that suits judge Tim Murphy just fine. “This boat was very dialed in,” he said, “and one place Seawind has always been innovative is with their helms. This one was really great; it was -outboard and aft with great visibility, sort of half-protected where you could step in and out. There was also good access to the boom and mainsail, which you don’t always see on cats. The deck layout was excellent, particularly the forward trampolines. Some cats have lacings with large openings where you can twist an ankle, but these were nice and tight.”

“Compared to other Seawinds that I’ve seen, I was just blown away with it in terms of what it could do and how it performed,” said Ed Sherman.  “It’s a fairly conservative boat in terms of technology compared to some of the other boats in the same category, which depending on a potential buyer’s state of mind, could be either a good thing or a bad one. I loved the centralized winch aft which is where all the sail-handling takes place. It’s pretty brilliant for a short-handed crew, and it’s all in a very safe and easy-to-access location that a cruising couple can deal with without scaring the heck out of themselves.”

The Kinetic KC54 is a fresh entry in the cat universe, and we’ll let Tim Murphy get right to the point: “This is a fairly new company that was started within the past couple of years. My breath was absolutely taken away by this boat; it was spectacular. I think it was the best-built boat in the entire fleet. It’s an all-carbon boat, with a foam core, epoxy resin, all infused–fantastic. The whole boat felt integrated. You didn’t feel like there was a conflict between the forces in terms of accommodation versus performance.” With a price tag approaching $3 million, it perhaps should not be astonishing. That was a major factor in evaluating the boat, and while it did not win its class, the experts panel did present it with a Judges’ Special Recognition prize to honor the boat’s overall excellence.

“It was my personal favorite in this year’s contest,” said Sherman. The materials that were used are absolutely the highest quality available in our industry at this point, and it’s a very high-tech boat in terms of systems.” Gerry Douglas was also duly impressed: “This was the Tesla of sailboats. I think that that was their model. In terms of design and execution and technology, it hit all three of those marks. This boat is built without compromise, and what it cost was not an issue, they just wanted to do the best they could in every aspect of the boat. The construction was impeccable, the fit and finish was amazing. There are some very clever design things in the boat, but it all really worked seamlessly.”  

With that level of competition, the Balance 482 had a tall order to overcome to win its class. And it did. “The sailing performance was excellent,” said Douglas. “The boat felt really good. The steering was terrific. The structure of the boat throughout was exemplary. Storage is really good. Visibility was good. Ventilation was great. There was even a rain collection system on the cabin top, which is the only one of the boats we looked at had that. It was very well concealed because the gutters formed a handhold going forward. The solar panel installation was also well done. The panels were encapsulated into a fiberglass tray that elevated the deck so the panels wouldn’t overheat. Very clever.”

The driving force behind Balance cats is Phil Berman, a world champ at racing beach cats who brought that passion to developing and marketing fully found cruisers. Judge Murphy knows him well: “Phil comes from a very strong view of wanting to see boats that have solid sailing performance. He’s also a strong proponent of daggerboard boats, which tends to be quick shorthand for the dividing line between cats that are more about payload versus cats that are about performance, but not so much where you’re going to fly a hull or break a rudder. There’s a balance within a boat that really performs that you can still live aboard.” A winning balance, it turns out, with the Balance 482 securing its position as the Best Performance Cruiser for 2022.
