Bottom Line
Set on the northwest tip of Barbados, Port St. Charles is an upscale yachting and beach community with private villas and apartments set along the lagoon or the beach. The privately owned homes, decorated in a wide variety of styles, range in size from comfortable one-bedroom villas to palatial six-bedroom apartments with private pools. A water taxi shuttles guests around the 22-acre property, which includes a restaurant, gym, tennis, and two pools. The spacious units are ideal for families and those who prefer to self-cater, but the location is secluded and the large property lacks the amenities found at upscale hotels. Those seeking a more intimate atmosphere might enjoy Little Good Harbour.

Oyster hotel review, a residential yachting and beach community that's attractive to those seeking space, privacy, and kitchens.
Port St. Charles is a private yachting and beach community that rents out a number of its villas and apartments for short and long-term use. The development is vast, set on 22 acres that are navigated by car and via water taxi, which conveniently picks guests up at the dock outside their residences. Guests include many families attracted by the space and option to self-cater, but plenty of privacy-seeking couples as well.
The property has a clubby, residential feel but it also delivers a few hotel-like amenities such as a modern gym, tennis courts, a restaurant, and two community pools. The hub of social activity at Port St. Charles is Sunset Island. Surrounded by the lagoon, the area holds the Port St. Charles Yacht Club restaurant, a boutique, swim-up bar, pool, and an extensive dock area with lounge chairs, ideal perches for watching the sun set.
While the property does have one restaurant, it is not open for breakfast and offers a limited lunch and dinner menu. A handful of restaurants are nearby in Speightstown and Holetown, but the rhythm of a stay at Port St. Charles seems to involve stocking the refrigerators and preparing private meals. Depending on the villa, guests can take advantage of well-appointed kitchens that are equipped with modern appliances; some villas include built-in Miele espresso machines. Stylish dinnerware, glassware, and decor as well as dining tables set on terraces overlooking the sea make it tempting to stay in and enjoy the views.
While it's possible to arrive by boat and clear customs and immigration at Port St. Charles, most guests arrive at the airport and are shuttled via private transport to the property. The impressive arrival involves checking in at the huge two-story lobby, clad in marble with columns and arched windows that frame the lagoons and the rows of subtle-hued homes with yachts docked at their doorstep. The lobby's decor is distinctly nautical, highlighted by navy blue sofas, coordinating throw pillows with anchor insignia, and a giant marlin set along a wall that appears to be caught leaping from the sea.
Off Highway 1B along the northwest coast of Barbados, close to historic Speightstown and about a 45-minute drive to the international airport
Port St. Charles is a residential marina community set along the northwest coast of the island. It's walking distance to restaurants, shops, and the sidewalk stalls of Speightstown, the first established port on Barbados.
- Five-minute drive or 15-minute walk to Speightstown

A variety of one- to six-bedroom villas and apartments with ocean or lagoon views, private terraces, full kitchens, and luxurious residential finishes
Port St. Charles offers 29 villas and apartments for rent. Set in two-story buildings facing the canals of the marina or the private beachfront, the residences range in size from basic (825-square-foot) one-bedroom villas to luxuriously furnished six-bedroom homes with private pools and more than 6,000 square feet of living space. The privately owned homes are decorated and furnished according to the owners' tastes, but most follow a design theme that falls in line with the architecture of the development and its location. Some units are furnished in nautical style with white wicker furniture topped with navy blue cushions and coordinating ocean-inspired artwork while other homes maintain a more contemporary neutral-toned color palette. Traditional Caribbean colonial style with mahogany wood furniture as well as more eclectic decor accented by colorful local artwork and sculpture are also prominent in individual homes.
The villas and apartments all feature outdoor terraces or balconies with views of the ocean or the surrounding lagoon. Some of the smaller residences offer plunge pools tucked into the corners of balconies and terraces, while the larger ground-floor beachfront residences feature small pools surrounded by grassy areas and lushly landscaped gardens. Homes on the lagoon come with private boat slips while homes along the oceanfront feature paths to small white gates that open to the sand and the sea.
All of the homes come equipped with full kitchens, which can be stocked pre-arrival through the concierge. Most of the homes have indoor dining rooms as well as dining tables on the terraces or balconies. The bedrooms, some which open directly to the terrace, are equipped with en-suite bathrooms and are finished with bedding and linens at the level of what would be found in a luxury hotel.
A modern fitness center, tennis, and a yacht club with an open-air restaurant, pool, and bar with swim-up access overlooking the harbor and beach
The main draw for residents at Port St. Charles is its marina. The individually owned homes come equipped with private boat slips and the marina is also an official port of entry to Barbados, meaning residents and visitors arriving by boat can clear customs and immigration dockside. The marina offers a handful of transient berths for boats ranging in size from 60 to 250 feet, and additional moorings for mega-yachts.
Watching the passing of boats arriving and departing the area is also a draw. Guests can take a water taxi to Sunset Island, a man-made island that is home to the Port St. Charles Yacht Club, the property's only restaurant. The island also holds a bar, small pool with swim-up bar access, and a long dock set with lounge chairs facing the stretch of white sand beach across the lagoon.
The restaurant, decorated in the same nautical style found in the lobby, serves lunch and dinner, but not breakfast. Dining tables ringed with cushioned chairs are set beneath an open-air terrace, offering expansive views of the harbor and the beach. During prime dates, the yacht club features live music as well as scheduled activities for children.

“Port St Charles Yacht Club Restaurant” Review of Pier One
Dropped in today for lunch and very disappointed. Sat at our table and ignored. From the time we sat down until the first server arrived to take drink orders was 25 minutes. 20 minutes later the drinks arrived because “the bar tender was backed up”. When the food arrived it was good but, first impressions are lasting. I guess my yacht wasn’t big enough.

This used to be one of our favourite places to eat in Barbados, beautiful location, great staff and good food. However this year we were very disappointed. Took friends for lunch. Arrived and immediately things didn’t feel the same. Didn’t recognise any of the staff, welcome lukewarm, drinks took an age to arrive, when we asked someone we were told they were busy but it looked a more a state of chaos, managers and supervisors doing nothing and staff unable to cope. They had changed the ordering system now using tablets which caused more confusion and delay! The food was generally poor. I had a lobster salad which consisted of a few pieces of tough bland lobster on a bed of limp salad leaves. My wife had always loved the curry, not this time, bland to say the least. We had heard that there had been a change of ownership it definitely showed, we normally eat here 3 to 4 times during our holiday, this time we didn’t return. Such a shame to see one of our favourite places go down hill so quickly!
The food was really nothing special and the whole restaurant operated at a leisurely pace with no real sense of urgency or will to offer guests something special which might cause them to come back. The ceviche was good but everything else - the caesar salad , the asian shrimp stir fry and the kingfish fish of the day , which was very dry as another guest remarked , were all at best very average. Service was OK generally speaking although the we sat down at a table we were told that it was reserved even though the restaurant was pretty empty.!! We were finally allowed to stay at the table. To summarise nothing really positive to say and certainly not a restaurant to be recommended - somebody needs to rapidly inject some sense of purpose into the staff and the chef needs some motivation.!! In addition the restaurant is situated right next to sunbathers on the boardwalk there which quite frankly does nothing for one's appetite.!! Suggest that you give it a miss.!!
Had lunch there on 10 October, 2 salads, dreadful - really need updating and to change their menu - there is a lot of choices in that area now so please either change your chef OR menu - get venue-fabulous staff - food not good

Yacht Club Restaurant - Very average
Ate at the yacht club for the second time a few nights ago, such an amazing location but the food really is nothing to shout about. This place has so much potential. Again, the food was average and restaurant half full - serious room for improvement! Would love to see this place do as well as it should!

Today my family attended the Sunday brunch at Port St. Charles Yacht Club,on the advice of friends. Best advice we've had for awhile. What a beautiful venue. And do wish I'd brought my bathers because this outdoor dining venue has access to swimming in the ocean as well as a lovely swimming pool. Changing rooms at hand. Easy to supervise children while you eat. Several did this. Wonderful steel drum band. A really up beat atmosphere. I have never seen such a setting before. Very upmarket And the food was amazing. Lovely variety. Staff very friendly. I was sorry to leave, but will return.
everything was fantastic from restaurant pools and beach. was fortunate to stay here as family member leasing a condo for a few years for work. staff for complex very friendly and helpful. very high end condos as privately owned and have some rentals.it is a private marina with boat slips at each condo. very beautiful spot with a calm great beach. all condos are in the millions of dollars and the yachts are amazing. this is not a hotel but privately owned but they do have leases and some available for rental.

We discovered the Yacht Club Restaurant in Port St Charles a couple of years ago and have visited regularly since. It's a great place to relax with easy access to all their facilities, you can sunbathe, swim, relax, have a drink at the bar or have lunch or dinner according to your mood. We have never found a place so friendly and welcoming. The food is excellent and the staff even better. The evening dinner is especially recommended, there is great live music and a lively atmosphere combined with a tasty and varied menu. A special thank you must go to Jennifer and Stacey who welcomed us back like long lost family and took really good care of us throughout our stay. This is a real gem, well worth a visit.
After 15 years as regular visitors to the island we had visited Port St Charles many times before. It was however the first time we went to the Yacht Club for Sunday Lunch. The setting was as always exquisite with some beautiful super yachts in that day. The food choice and standard superb also good value for money. Really enjoyed the live entertainment. Staff were great and we even managed a little dance led by Sir Charles atop the Bar lol :) Can't wait to return very soon
It was our second time at Port St Charles in December and once again it didn't disappoint, so much so that we've booked to go again for the third time this year. We've been to the island 7 times and this is by far our favourite place, everything about it is amazing. The food at the yacht club is second to none, the two pools are perfect, you're a stones throw from the beach, it's secure, peaceful and tranquil, but what makes it is the staff! We love you guys! Nothing beats sitting on the balcony, or by the pool and watching the turtles swimming by. Also the beach is so quiet (when we go anyway) and some days you can have the pool to yourself. There are loads of supermarkets around, we went to Jordan's as we found it cheaper than Massy, but it is a little further away. You're also spoilt for choice with restaurants and everything is nearby if you want a day trip. We visited Oistins, Bathsheba, Wildlife reserve, Crane Beach, Bottom Bay, Little Bay (St Lucy) and we went to the Races at the Garrison. No where is too far by car! Sending all our love to Stacey, Hensley, Michelle, Vicky on reception, we miss you all and can't wait to see you this year! We are counting down the days until we return to our most favourite place in the world :)

Any help greatly appreciated
Yes you can go for lunch as visitors and use their pool etc. The Yacht Club is a beautiful place to spend some time -------elegant but comfortable, with lovely staff ,and their food is jolly good and reasonably priced for the location. ( see my review ) Call to make a reservation before coming all this way, you won't regret it.
Thankyou so much. I just found that they are on the re discover site too.
Many many thanks
We had a lovely evening meal there in February. Good service, very good food, good value. We saw fish swiming right at the side of the decking and a smallish ray swam by, too. Highly recommend. Do book though, as Westie says. If you go for lunch the views are sublime of course.
The service is always lovely. The sunbeds and decking are fabulous and free.
You can dip in the pool or walk into the Caribbean sea.
The bar will keep you topped-up.
It's marvellous.
I really want to keep this a secret, but I think the Genie in the bottle may be out.
How much is lunch there, roughly? And would it be suitable to take children?
If you apply for the re-discover voucher booklet before you arrive - PSC is on both the Lunch and the Dinner program - and Yes it is fine to take children - they will have a lovely time
http://re-discover.com/lunch.php
Yes it's fine to take children-------------------- if they are well behaved.!! The owners and guests have children, but you don't see them running around being noisy when you are eating. I'm sure your kids know how to behave though .
Main courses were around the $45 to $70 BDS mark or thereabouts from memory, but I can't swear to that I'm afraid .
http://www.portstcharles.com/yacht-club
We went there for dinner in January and used the re-discover offer. I called the restaurant a bit in advance to book a table and told them we would like to have the re-discover menu. When we arrived they already had a record of it so we didn't need to show a voucher or explain anything. The food was fairly nice and we got a complimentary bottle of wine too.

Location is beautiful and well located. The staff is really excellent.
PSC is a beautiful location, the lagoon where it sits adjacent to the west coast of Barbados would always make this work. However the high quality of service and the skills of the staff make PSC OUTSTANDING. We got married on Haywoods beach whilst there and the staff could not have been more helpful. Shakira in particular was / is a superstar. Our housekeeper Gail was wonderful. Highly committed and very friendly too.
Great location, beautiful apartment, close to the beach and the staff were amazing!!
The people working at Port St Charles made our experience absolutely fantastic. We loved our lunches at Pier 1 as well!
Beautiful marina setting, swimming pool and swim up bar in the middle of the lagoon was amazing. Water taxi to the beach or restaurant was also amazing. Long perfect beach to soak up the sun or go for a long stroll. Great location for restaurants and bars.

How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.

An outstanding luxury marina in Barbados
Port St. Charles is a luxury residential marina with waterfront properties, situated on a 10-acre lagoon. There is also a breakwater facility, which includes six berths to accommodate visiting yachts from 60 – 250' LOA, with a maximum draft of 13.5 ft. Outside the breakwater, Port St. Charles maintains three serious moorings suitable for boats in excess of 300 feet.
Services available include water, power, telephone, Cable TV, gasoline and duty-free ultra-low sulphur diesel (with high pressure delivery) and garbage incineration. There is also a law enforcement facility with Customs / Immigration, Coast Guard, Police and Port Health.
Other facilities include a yacht club complex – with a restaurant, deck, pool table and swimming pool – and the entire area is wirelessly networked for Internet connectivity. Four webcams are positioned to monitor boat security on the breakwater slips.
The berthing is very convenient with fuel bunkering available direct from the slip; shore-power was said to be good; and Customs & Immigration will come to visit the boat in person. Additionally, there is a dedicated email and Internet room for communications and two beaches for relaxation (with one just next to the breakwater berths).
We always receive excellent feedback for this marina facility; and the Dockmaster - Derek Ince - continues to come enthusiastically recommended by captains for his highly professional assistance with all needs. Advanced bookings for dockage are essential during the busy winter season.

Reviewed 16 June 2017 via mobile. On a recent trip to the island, we stopped by the Port St Charles yacht club for a spot of lunch. The menu has plenty of options for a light lunch or something more substantial if you're a bit hungrier. I had the chicken salad, my wife the burger, which with a glass of wine and a banks beer was just under $100 BD.
