The incredible aircraft carrier yacht with its own golf course

superyacht with golf course

We’ve all seen impressive yachts and mega-yachts, but Mitsi Studio has gone to the next level – designing the very first aircraft yacht in the world which happens to have its own golf course.

Onboard the ‘Noahs Twin Carrier’ is a landing strip for jets, which when flipped, transforms into a spectacular three-hole golf course which includes trees and bunkers.

The concept for the mega-yacht, outlined by Thomas Loopstra, co-founder of Mitsi Studio, also includes an infinity pool, tiki village, helipad, and a dock for a speedboat – and that’s just what’s above deck.

Though it’s just a concept right now, if brought to life, it would undoubtedly be the daddy of yachts out in the ocean.

It’s been a difficult 2024 season for Matt Fitzpatrick. The former U.S. Open champion has yet to finish better than T15 in any event this season and missed the cut in his last two “signature events,” the Genesis Invitational and the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

As Jon Sherman shared on X, Fitz’ poor play may have been due to a peculiar mistake.

“Matt Fitzpatrick just said they put a weight in his grip over a year ago for some testing, and then forgot about it. Said he’s been not feeling right since last February. “And they realized they forgot to remove the weight, took it out, and his swing felt better again last month.”

Fitzpatrick opened with a 66 (-6), which was only one off the first-round lead shared by Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, and Wyndham Clark.

Ex-NHL pro reveals the ruthless trash talk side to Michael Jordan’s golf game

On a recent episode of Barstool Sports’ “Spittin’ Chiclets” podcast, host and former NHL defenseman Ryan Whitney shared a story about NBA legend Michael Jordan.

  • Related:   Rory McIlroy shares his side of story after being questioned by Jordan Spieth over penalty drop

Ryan Whitney, the former NHL defenseman who cohosts Barstool Sports’ “Spittin’ Chiclets” podcast, told his tale of getting mercilessly hectored by Jordan during a round of golf to cohost Paul Bissonnette and guest Justin Thomas.

“He doesn’t say a word to me. “We get to 17, it’s the 35th hole of the day, par five, I’m on [the green] in two. He’s dead.”

However, MJ made birdie on the hole and Whitney made par, prompting Jordan to say something:

“First thing he said all day was, ‘That’s right, bitch.”

“So then we go to 36. I finish the last hole. Another press, lose that hole too. He’s like, ‘A scratch golfer … Bitch you couldn’t scratch my wife’s ass. I just left. I just paid him 10 grand and left. I felt this big [holding fingers closely apart]. He’s pumping rap tunes the whole time that say his name in the song. I was like, ‘What planet am I on right now?’”

Whitney added that Jordan’s short game was “insane”.

The hockey player lost the match and had to pay up.

“I just paid him ten grand and left”.

Rory McIlroy shares his side of story after being questioned by Jordan Spieth over penalty drop

superyacht with golf course

During the first round of the PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass, Rory McIlroy found himself having to make a few tough calls on penalty drops.

On the 7th hole, McIlroy along with his playing partners Jordan Spieth and Viktor Hovland, engaged in a 12-minute conversation regarding where Rory’s drop should take place.

After the round, Rory was asked what happened on the hole.

“I think Jordan was just trying to make sure that I was doing the right thing.

“I mean, I was pretty sure that my ball had crossed where I was sort of dropping it.

“It’s so hard, right, because there was no TV evidence. I was adamant.”

“But I think, again, he was just trying to make sure that I was going to do the right thing.

“If anything, I was being conservative with it. I think at the end of the day we’re all trying to protect ourselves, protect the field, as well.

“I wouldn’t say it was needless. I think he was just trying to make sure that what happened was the right thing.”

McIlroy went in the water a second time on the 18th hole.

“Again, adamant it crossed, it’s just a matter of where it crosses.

“I think this golf course more than any other, it sort of produces those situations a little bit.

“Again, like I feel like I’m one of the most conscientious golfers out here, so if I feel like I’ve done something wrong, it’ll play on my conscience for the rest of the tournament.

“I’m a big believer in karma, and if you do something wrong, I feel like it’s going to come around and bite you at some point.

“I obviously don’t try to do anything wrong out there, and play by the rules and do the right thing. I feel like I obviously did that those two drops.”

Despite the two water balls, the four-time major champion finished his first round at -7, which is tied for the lead.

Insane Aircraft Carrier Yacht Has Its Own Golf Course On It!

In the world, there are yachts and superyachts, but what we have here is something that is unlike anything on the water today. Mitsi Studio has designed what would be the very first aircraft yacht in the world. While I’m not exactly sure how one would acquire an aircraft carrier for this, there has to be a way because this is just too good of a design. Called the Noahs Twin Carrier, this one-of-a-kind aircraft carrier yacht has all of the amenities you’d expect from a mansion. Yes, a mansion. I say that because it comes with a three-hole golf course that is revealed when the deck is flipped around. There is also an infinity pool, tiki village, helipad, dock for a speedboat, and when the golf course is not revealed, there is a landing strip for jets. On top of that, who knows what’s not being shown below the deck. This is a truly remarkable design and if it were to ever be created, it would go down as the most legendary yacht traveling the seas. Be sure to check out the rest of Mitsi Studio’s designs by visiting Mitsi.Studio .

Hotel Camiral – PGA Catalunya Resort

Part of the PGA Catalunya Resort, Hotel Camiral provides access to two multi-award.winning championship golf courses, the Neil Coles-designed Stadium Course, and the Angel Gallardo Tour Course. Less than an hour from Barcelona, the 136-room hotel combines contemporary architecture and urban-chic interiors by Lázaro Rosa-Violán and includes nine suites.

Forget a Helipad. These 10 Bonkers Superyachts Have Everything From Snow Rooms to Golf Tees.

Snowrooms, waterfalls, tennis courts, video walls, and massive slides show how owners are reimagining life on board their yachts., julia zaltzman, julia zaltzman's most recent stories.

These bonkers features show how yacht owners are customizing their vessels.

Just as superyacht design is generally pushing the envelope with large expanses of glass and more interior volume, a number of owners and designers are striving to instill even more wow factor into their boats. That doesn’t necessarily mean just supersizing everything.

Depending on the owner, that means custom features never before seen on a superyacht. The list includes 30-foot-long waterfalls and expanded spas—more new-age health clinic than classic gym—but they also extend to golf driving ranges and full-sized padel courts. Fifty-foot-high video walls, huge discos, and indoor cinemas, complete with vibrating seats to match the action on the screen, are one-offs on some of the more heavily customized yachts. Some yachts even have snow rooms.

The wildest of ideas are often becoming reality. Here are 10 of the most bonkers amenities on the water.

Snow Room, ‘Faith’

superyacht with golf course

Sub-zero rooms that recreate the glacial climate of the Alps are not a regular feature in shoreside spas, let alone yachts. Fincantieri’s 440-foot yacht Serene was the first boat to include a snow room when it delivered in 2011—along with a Nemo lounge, an enormous internal sea water pool, two heli-pads, and a children’s playroom with a climbing wall. Oh, and don’t forget the wild “between the decks” slide. Six years later, Norwegian yacht designer Espen Øino included the icy thrills of a snow room as a  feature aboard Faith . It’s the perfect Nordic pairing to a steamy-hot sauna, yet remains one of the most insane yachting luxuries out there.

Nemo Lounge, ‘Savannah’

superyacht with golf course

Superyacht underwater observatories have become so iconic they’re now coined by the term “Nemo,” “Neptune,” or “Aqua” lounges. The concept is a hullside window into the subaquatic world where guests can observe the vibrant marine life swimming under the yacht. Savannah and Elandess were among the first to have semi-submerged lounges, while Motoryacht A takes the concept a step farther with a fully submerged observation room that features glass on both sides and on the floor. One of the biggest superyacht launches of 2023 is Abeking and Rasmussen’s 388-foot Project 8507 , the German shipyard’s largest vessel to date, which has a semi-submerged Neptune lounge on the starboard side, as does the Harrison Eidsgaard–designed Project Toro built by Turquoise Yachts and due to deliver in 2024.

Video Wall, ‘H3’

superyacht with golf course

Video walls were built on several superyachts for different purposes. On Oceanco’s refit of H3 , the designers added a video wall in the “welcome lounge” near the stern of the yacht, and then along the walls to the main salon, essentially to provide a dramatic backdrop to the long, mundane corridor that separates the vessel’s tender garages. Aboard Luminosity , a 60-foot-high video wall shows different landscapes, including a 50-foot-long walk through a rain forest. “The owner wanted a wow factor,” says designer Zaniz Jakubowski. Other digital-art firms like Immersive International have created video walls for master suites to provide a nighttime environment that woos owners into a different world.

Disco, ‘Mystere Shadow’

superyacht with golf course

The chance to party the night away with friends and family is a huge entertainment draw for superyacht guests and owners. Magic Johnson’s yacht Aquila has an entire room dedicated to disco, with a DJ booth, AV system, smoke machine, and light show. Even that pales compared to the nightclub aboard support vessel Mystere Shadow . Designed to carry an arsenal of toys, from tenders and submersibles to motorcycles, cars, and helicopters, the yacht’s toy hangar converts into a warehouse party cavern with laser lights, a smoke machine, and the all-important disco ball to enjoy the mother of all superyacht parties.

Padel Court, ‘Aviva’

superyacht with golf course

Even Roger Federer wouldn’t be the star of the show aboard superyacht Aviva , thanks to the yacht’s indoor, full-sized padel tennis court. Measuring 65.6 by 32.8 feet, the court is one-upped by a 22-foot-high ceiling. It remains one of the most ambitious amenities ever installed on a yacht, even six years after its 2017 delivery. The court is located on a lower deck. Two tons of sand were needed to produce an adequate on-court bounce, while also providing soundproofing so late-night matches wouldn’t disturb sleeping guests. When the court isn’t in use, the net is removed, and the space converts into a football pitch or sports hall. There’s even a small viewing area where spectators can enjoy strawberries and cream to create a Wimbledon-like atmosphere at sea.

Wellness Center, ‘Amatasia’

superyacht with golf course

There are wellness centers aboard yachts, and then there are wellness centers . La Datcha ’s traditional hammam, sauna and fully equipped gym are rounded off with a stalagmite ice fountain embellished with atmospheric LED lighting for a frosty shock of cold ice on exiting the hot sauna. Likewise, conversion yacht Ragnar was built to cruise cold climates, but its wellness center mixes the allure of warmed benches and a sauna with shock of cold from its snow machine. The Lürssen-built Amatasia , designed for a former Olympic cyclist, takes the trend to the next level with a toning spa for professional athletes. It also has multiple saunas and steam rooms, a 12-seat spa pool, a full-depth plunge pool, an ice fountain, and hydrotherapy showers for a knock-out wellness experience.

Outdoor Cinema, ‘Maltese Falcon’

superyacht with golf course

Enjoying a night at the movies is a magical experience that any yacht worth its salt will offer. Ahpo ’s 12-seat cinema is equipped with velvet seats and a twinkling ceiling, while the cinema aboard White Rabbit —the largest trimaran in the world—ups the ante with vibrating seats and an atmospheric skylight. Few superyachts can beat the starlit sky experience aboard sailing yacht Maltese Falcon , where guests snuggle up to the latest blockbuster films projected on the lower sail. It’s the largest outdoor cinema screen on water. Following a 2023 refit, the yacht now also has an indoor cinema on the main deck, so even bad weather can’t prevent a visit to the silver screen.

Slide, ‘Titania’

superyacht with golf course

The inflatable slide aboard 240-foot Titania measures 43 feet, making it one of the longest superyacht drops down to the waves. Not for the faint hearted, it provides a quick adrenaline rush for guests who take the leap of faith from the sun deck into the sea. Paired with a trampoline and climbing frame, it’s an imaginative water park for all ages. But for guests looking for a few more twists and turns, the curved slide aboard Oceanco’s Helios brings even more fun to the superyacht slide experience. Designed for taller yachts, this bespoke contraption has extra high side rails and plenty of netting to ensure riders stay on the slide, no matter how fast they fly.

Golf Tee, ‘Lana’

superyacht with golf course

Even the largest superyacht can’t accommodate a nine-hole golf course, but Lucky Lady offers the next best thing with a retractable golf tee on the aft deck that appears at the touch of a button. Hitting a stack of biodegradable fish-food golf balls into the ocean is the ideal way to practice your drive, not to mention a fun way to pass time during long ocean passages. For golf aficionados keen to sharpen up their drives, Lana ’s elongated bow lends itself to a quick tee-off at sundown on its portable, inflatable green.

Waterfall, ‘Galactica Supernova’

superyacht with golf course

What’s not to love about a water feature, especially one that cascades down from the upper deck aft into a showstopping glass-sided swimming pool. That’s exactly the sight that greets all guests who board Heesen’s 229.8-foot Galactica Supernova . The sound and spray create a refreshing first impression. Galactica Supernova ’s feature was designed by Espen Øino, but it has become a popular feature on many yachts, including Quite Essential and Oceanco’s newly refitted H3 . Alternatively, Alfa Nero ’ s glass-ended backlit pool simply gives the impression of a waterfall—less spectacular but arguably easier to maintain.

72m CRN N Joy yacht launch

10 of the latest superyacht launches

Yards launch bigger, better and more standout superyachts every month and now that the summer season is in full swing, there are plenty of new models making their way to the Med for some time spent cruising ahead of the upcoming boat show season...

Length: 67m Builder: Heesen

In June 2023, Sparta emerged from the shipyard and overthrew the 60.6-metre Lusine as the Dutch builder’s largest steel construction to date. Exterior and interior styling are by Winch Design , whose studio opted for a low exterior profile alongside a hull accented in “Venetian red” and metallic grey. Her elemental interiors include an earthy main saloon upholstered in real palm leaf and an airy master cabin with mother-of-pearl inlays, soft fabrics and hazy Tai Ping carpets.

Sparta is currently for sale with Arcon Yachts.

Bad Company Support

Length: 53.3m Builder: Damen Yachting

Bad Company Support is the first unit in the Dutch shipyard’s new YS53 support vessel series, built for legendary sportfisherman Anthony Hsieh. As Hsieh’s largest yacht, she will be joining his expansive fleet offering game fishing expeditions and supporting marine conservation projects in some of the planet’s most unchartered waters. All of her design and naval architecture were completed entirely in-house by Damen Yachting.

Bad Company Support is expected to be delivered later this month.

Highland Fling XVIII

Length: 24.7m Builder: Gunboat

Gunboat's flagship catamaran is expected to be one of the fastest in its size bracket, capable of exceeding true wind speed at just six knots. Highland Fling XVIII’s striking scarlet exterior is owed to French studio VPLP with interiors by Chedal Anglay Design – who plotted them with the help of virtual reality. She is currently undergoing sea trials in La Grande Motte, France, joined by her racing team who plan to put her performance to the test.

Highland Fling XVIII is expected to be delivered in August 2023, with her racing debut scheduled for the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo.

Length: 77.7m Builder: Golden Yachts

With a contemporary-style plumb bow and trapezium-shaped windows, O’Rea carves a more modern profile when compared to her predecessors O’Pari and O’Ptasia . Her distinctive exterior is courtesy of Stefano Vafiadis , with interior styling also handled by Vafiadis in collaboration with Italian studio Massari Design . More than 250 finishes are claimed to have been used throughout, including polished marble and precious stones. The yacht will be also home to a collection of contemporary artworks, curated by Vasilis Dragnis in collaboration with Anna Chatzinassiou.

O'Rea is expected to be delivered later this month and will make her global debut at the Monaco Yacht Show later this year.

Length: 35m Builder: Vanquish Yachts

Originally commissioned in 2020, this anticipated build launched in May and will be the largest member of the Vanquish fleet upon her delivery to the Hamptons. Manu is one of the fastest aluminium yachts on the water, delivering a top speed of over 40 knots thanks to a combination of three MTU Rolls Royce engines. Befitting her eye-watering speeds is a sporty, streamlined exterior designed by Guido de Groot .

Manu is expected to be delivered this month.

Danzante Bay

Length: 50m Builder: Crescent Custom Yachts

Danzante Bay is the largest superyacht to be built in Canada and marks the first new launch by Crescent Custom Yachts since Crescent Lady in February 2020. Commissioned by an American owner, she was named after his Mexican resort and golf course. The yacht is built from a composite hull bought from Christensen Yachts with exterior design owed to Gregory C. Marshall and interiors by British studio H2 Yacht Design .

Danzante Bay is expected to be delivered in August 2023.

Length: 59.4m Builder: Rossinavi

Akula is Italian shipyard Rossinavi’s first-ever explorer yacht. Ice-classified, her stand-out scarlet hull and white aluminium superstructure is designed by Gian Paolo Nari . Interior design is by Ancona-based FM Architettura , with the yacht’s layout optimised to support marine research and philanthropic projects. In particular, she can store various diving equipment and two six-metre containers that can act as transportable science labs.

Akula is expected to be delivered in September 2023.

Length: 33.5m Builder: Baltic Yachts

Named after an ancient Caribbean deity, this sloop-rigged sailing yacht was commissioned by a highly experienced family with around-the-world cruising in mind. Zemi was designed by Malcolm McKeon and features his trademark wrap-over teak decking, as well as multiple headsail options for various weather conditions. Interiors were completed by Andreas Martin-Löf in his yachting debut and feature warm walnut and limestone veneers bonded to lightweight honeycomb structures.

Zemi is expected to be delivered this month.

Length: 50m Builder: Columbus Yachts

With exteriors and interiors created by Marco Casali of Too-Design, Anjelif ’s brass colouring is far from her only stand-out feature. She also boasts several technical innovations, such as a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system and onboard sanitisation that incorporates cold plasma for the elimination of airborne viruses and bacteria. An impressive recreational highlight is the touch-and-go helipad on the bow, which can convert to an open-air cinema when not in use.

Anjelif is expected to be delivered in August 2023 and will debut at this year's Monaco Yacht Show .

Riva 82 Diva

Length: 25m Builder: Riva Yachts

This unit is the debut of Riva’s brand new flybridge series, which aims to “open a new chapter” for the Sarnico-based builder with its “revolutionary approach to the use of space”. Designed by Officina Italiana Design in conjunction with Ferretti Group , the Riva 82 Diva features one of the largest flybridges in its category at 40 square metres. Two large bulwarks fold out to create overwater terraces, expanding the yacht’s six-metre beam by an additional three metres.

The Riva 82 Diva is expected to be delivered in September 2023 and will attend the Cannes Yachting Festival that same month.

Brokers are buying up precious tee times at L.A. city golf courses. Golfers are desperate and outraged

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

Golfers at Los Angeles municipal courses have complained for years that it is nearly impossible to score a tee time.

Many have long suspected that forces more sinister than excess demand and limited supply were gobbling up coveted foursomes. But they had little to back up their claims.

Enter Dave Fink, a 35-year-old golf teaching pro and L.A. native, who this month popped off to his 200,000 followers on Instagram about a booming black market where brokers charge up to $40 as a booking fee.

So began a movement known as #FreetheTee.

Fink grew up playing on city courses and said one of his “fed up” friends went to Griffith Park and asked Saturday morning golfers how they got their tee times.

“Finally, somebody told him the truth: ‘Hey there’s this guy, and the only way you can get in touch with him is through this Korean messaging app called Kakao,'” Fink recounted.

Fink showed his viewers a menu of the broker’s offerings: tee times listed by course, including four at Balboa Golf Course, one at Harding and three at Hansen Dam.

“This is what he’s charging per tee time, per person. OK? $30 for non-peak hours. $40 per tee time," he said. “This is literally crazy and it's” very unfair.

“When the weekend comes around, and we want to ... go and play golf and we can’t because the earliest tee time available is 4:30 in the afternoon, now you know why,” he stormed. “Apparently everybody knows about it. Everybody knows about it!”

The confirmation of long-held suspicions has roiled the L.A. golf world, with players clamoring for the city to crack down. And when some of the dominant brokers are Koreans selling mostly to fellow Koreans — on courses designed to cater to all stripes of Angelenos — the controversy is riven with race and class politics.

Golf has long had an image as a country club sport, and city courses are a vital outlet for those who can't afford private memberships, with their five- and six-figure initiation fees.

“This is a public good,” said Patrick MacFarlane, 35, who grew up playing on L.A. municipal courses and serves on the city’s golf advisory committee. “It'd be like if someone took over a public swimming pool and said there would be surge pricing.”

The brokers are peddling times at courses across Southern California. But golfers believe the problem is most acute in L.A., where city courses in Griffith Park, Rancho Park and Hansen Dam offer unrivaled convenience and affordability, typically charging around $35 per person, higher on weekends and holidays. The fee is the same for nonresidents.

Slots open up at 6 a.m. for golfing nine days ahead. And every morning, in a matter of seconds, the reservations for these prime city courses in Griffith Park and on the Westside disappear on the city's online booking platform, GolfNow. Golfers say that without using a broker, they get tee times primarily through last-minute cancellations or a waitlist, where they must stand by in person from five minutes to several hours. Sometimes the list doesn’t get tapped at all.

After Fink’s online videos gained traction, the L.A. Department of Recreation and Parks announced an investigation, roping in the city attorney’s office and the staff at GolfNow, a subsidiary of NBC Sports Next.

“I know people are frustrated,” said Rose Watson, spokesperson for the recreation and parks department. “At the end of the day, it’s not right, it’s not fair.” She said that “the city is on top of it” but asked for “a little more patience.”

According to Watson, the investigation's findings will be made public and shared with the Board of Recreation and Park Commissioners, whose five members oversee the golfing program and are appointed by Mayor Karen Bass.

It is impossible to know exactly how many tee times brokers are scooping up or how much the Korean brokers contribute to the dearth of golfing slots.

But within the Korean golf community, it’s common knowledge that brokers use senior memberships to book morning and early afternoon tee times and resell them for a profit, according to several interviews by The Times.

"All the Koreans know them,” James Lee, 57, said in Korean. “At least all the older people know them.”

This week, Lee pulled out his phone in between putts on the practice green at Griffith Park and scrolled through his contacts on KakaoTalk, the popular Korean messaging app referenced by Fink. He found a contact named “Golf tee time” in Korean and showed his phone to a Times reporter, saying, "This bastard."

Lee denied that he secured his tee time via the broker, saying he had snagged a canceled reservation.

“James waited over two hours yesterday for a tee time and ended up just having to go home,” a worker called out from the pro shop’s front desk as Lee checked in for his 9:45 a.m. spot.

Amid these frustrations, Fink has become the public face of the demand for accountability.

"This is an issue that affects everybody who pays taxes in the city, and anybody who plays golf as well, so I just felt like it was my duty to say something," Fink said in an interview.

He hosted a meet-up last weekend at Rancho Park Golf Course, where dozens of golfers stopped by. Several honked when they saw Fink, yelling out, "Free the tee." His videographer and editor, Brandon Wu, filmed much of it.

Golfers there described the typical morning ritual — logging in at 5:56 a.m. and waiting. "Golfers know where to hold the mouse so you can click quickly," said Charlie, who gave only his first name because he's often searching for tee times at work. "Six hours worth of tee times are gone in seconds."

Helping Fink are fellow linksmen outraged by the profiteering of public sport, including Joseph Lee, who runs SoCal Dream Golf Club, a group of more than 100 Korean and Asian golfers.

Lee has long been aware of the brokers. He has even used a broker three or four times before, sharing with Fink many of the screenshots that have become viral evidence of the problem.

Lee said that in 2021, a broker charged $20 per tee time, which a golfing foursome often splits. Now it’s nearly double. Most golfers reach out to a broker via text message on KakaoTalk, and the transaction typically is in Korean. “The first question he asks is, ‘Who referred you?’” Lee recalled.

Next, the golfer informs the broker roughly when and where they want to play.

The broker responds with the available tee times, which are secured on a first-come, first-served basis once a deposit goes through, Lee said, with customers sending money via Venmo.

Initially Lee saw no issue: "I thought it wasn’t illegal, and we’ll pay $5 each and play." But he quickly realized the brokers were “a poison” and had “occupied all the tee times, even the weekdays and weekends.”

Joseph Lee said that well before the recent uproar, he shared his concerns with the officials who run golf at the Department of Parks and Recreation.

A popular broker, Ted Kim, is “getting worse and bigger," Lee said, adding, “All the golfers in metro L.A. feel so pissed off."

In a brief interview with The Times, Kim said that he uses up to five devices and relies on unspecified “friends” to secure tee times. He said he is on the same playing field as every other golfer in L.A. and does not use bots to game the system.

“It’s not like I’m taking advantage of technology. I’m booking myself,” Kim said. “I’m not doing anything illegal.”

Kim's account lined up with Lee's: Golfers message him through KakaoTalk with the date and time they would like to play, along with their player card. He logs on by 6 a.m. and books a tee time for them nine days in advance.

Kim said he profits a couple thousand dollars a month, and he initially put an altruistic sheen on his business.

“I’m just helping Korean seniors, because they have a right to play golf, because all the Koreans play golf, right? Without my help, they actually struggle,” he said.

Pressed further, however, Kim acknowledged that he also books tee times for "middle-aged men." He insisted he books tee times under each player's name and does not transfer them to others.

How exactly brokers secure tee times and sell them remains murky.

Many golfers claim that the brokers are exploiting a benefit that senior citizens get — a 10-day advanced booking window, when non-seniors get nine days. The city denied that a 10-day window exists, but several golfers said they've seen it firsthand.

Some, like Lee, say that a reservation booked nine days in advance will be canceled and immediately booked under a new customer’s name.

Watson, the spokesperson for the city recreation department, said this type of handoff "technically hasn't been proven yet" but vowed that officials will scrutinize the data.

Others have theorized that scalpers have relied on bots to scoop up available tee times.

Rick Reinschmidt, who manages golf for the city, has said that the city's booking vendor has bot-squashing software that has flagged "thousands" for unusual activity, according to minutes of the city's golf advisory committee.

In the last three weeks, the city suspended 23 users from its booking system. In the last year, 133 were suspended, according to Watson.

One broker, a woman in her 40s, told The Times in Korean that she booked for 10 golfers, all Korean seniors, using her phone and her computer. She said she recently stopped booking because of the negative online discourse surrounding the issue and requested anonymity for that reason.

“My customers want me to start reserving tee times for them, but I’m too scared now because of how big all this has gotten,” she said.

Sometime last year, a Korean elder at her church asked her for help booking a tee time, unfamiliar with the technology, the broker said. The one senior quickly turned into a group that requested tee times through KakaoTalk.

She said she did not have a set fee and that her customers paid her $20 to $40 as a tip. The broker said she made less than $1,000 a month.

“I can see why people are upset at us brokers, because we are booking for others, and it’s not like we didn’t get paid — we did,” she said. “But I’m only helping people who asked for help. I never approached people trying to get them to use my services.”

Watson said that Reinschmidt has given assurances that city employees are not involved in any of the tee time brokering — but she said that any allegations of corruption would be investigated.

Fink has started selling #FreetheTee merchandise, and this week he urged his followers to attend the city's golf advisory committee meeting on Monday.

The volunteer panel's meetings are usually sedate affairs, and Fink promises to shake things up.

"If you love golf, and if you love making golf more accessible and affordable, and if you want to ... free the tee, you will be there with me," Fink said. "We're gonna get some answers."

To help fuel continued expansion and enhancement of its indoor golf experiences, Five Iron Golf said it has received a $20 million minority investment from the growth equity fund co-founded by restaurateur Danny Meyer, the founder and Chairman of Shake Shack SHAK as well as the owner/operator of New York City restaurants like Union Square Café, Gramercy Tavern, and The Modern.

Five Iron Golf now has 24 U.S. locations, including a new flagship facility at Grand Central Station in New York City that has 15 golf simulators, two full-service bars, and lounge areas with activities such as air hockey, billiards, and shuffleboard. It’s the sixth NYC venue for the company, which originated in Manhattan in 2017 and has since expanded to Baltimore, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington D.C. and Seattle.

Five Iron Golf is billed as an “urban golf experience” that combines golf, technology, and entertainment in an inclusive environment, allowing participants of all ages and skill levels to play, practice and party from early morning until late night.

In addition to the financial investment from Meyer’s Enlightened Hospitality Investments (EHI), Five Iron Golf brings aboard considerable expertise and experience in hospitality and consumer-facing businesses. Both Meyer, who is widely recognized as a trailblazer in the hospitality industry, and fellow EHI co-Founder and Managing Partner Peter Mavrovitis will join Five Iron’s board of directors and provide strategic guidance on the company’s future direction, growth, and experiential component. This is EHI’s first venture in sports, counting companies like Clear, Madison Reed and a host of culinary brands in its portfolio.

"This investment is a testament to our belief in Five Iron’s vision and commitment to opening the world of golf both to enthusiasts and avid amateurs who want to practice their inner love for golf without having to visit the links,” said Meyer, who is also joined by Mark Leavitt and Harry Seherr-Thoss in the effort to expand Five Iron’s flagship locations and franchising opportunities.

The company is actively exploring expansion opportunities and has secured franchise locations in St. Louis, Missouri; Erie, Pennsylvania; Louisville, Kentucky; Westchester, New York; and Yukon, Oklahoma. Internationally, the company is developing locations in Australia and Dubai.

Five Iron's vision blends golf, technology, food and entertainment in an indoor golf package.

Five Iron Golf CEO and co-Founder Jared Solomon said the partnership between his company and EHI underscores a shared vision to revolutionize the booming golf entertainment sector.

The National Golf Foundation recently reported that almost 33 million Americans played off-course forms of golf (away from a golf course) in 2023, with more than 6 million hitting golf balls with a club in a simulator within the past year.

Golf simulator participation has risen 73% in the U.S. compared to pre-pandemic levels, according to the NGF. Successful consumer franchises like Five Iron, Topgolf Swing Suite, X Golf and Golfzon Social continue to expand amid a landscape that also includes simulators at green-grass golf facilities, golf retail stores, one-off commercial locations, and various club-fitting stores, not to mention the growing number of home simulator setups.

“With this backing, we are poised to accelerate our growth, enhance our offerings, and continue delivering an unparalleled experience for golf enthusiasts and newcomers alike,” said Solomon. “Together with Danny and EHI, we are embarking on an exhilarating chapter of innovation, expansion, and unforgettable moments on the green."

This is the first notable outside partnership for Five Iron Golf since Callaway Golf made a $30 million investment in the company in 2021.

By Editorial Team   9 April 2014

For golfing enthusiasts, a luxury charter yacht can act as the ultimate private floating clubhouse, comfortably cruising from one world-class golf course to another whilst enjoying breath-taking views along the way.

From beautiful ocean-side putting in Greece to long-range driving on the historic tree-lined courses of the French Riviera, we have made a list of some of the most scenic fairway’s to be found in the Mediterranean this summer.

Aerial view of Golf de Sperone, Corsica

Golf de Sperone, Corsica Spectacularly situated on the southern tip of the island of Corsica, the Golf de Sperone VVersilia Golf Resort in Bonifacio is widely considered one of the most beautiful in the world. Designed by the renowned Robert Trent Jones Sr., this famous par 5 course is ranked amongst the top 20 of Europe’s Elite 1000, and received a score of 17/20 by the Peugeot Guide. Bonafacio provides an idyllic setting for the course, famed for its limestone cliff line coast and medieval architecture. It is also home to a beautiful natural harbour making, further cementing its appeal to yachting golfers around the world.

San Lorenzo Golf Club, Algarve

San Lorenzo Golf Club, Algarve Not only one of the most exclusive golf courses on the Algarve, the San Lorenzo Golf Course has recently been named one of the best in the world by Golf World magazine and was specifically noted for the beauty of its surroundings. Lined with forested pines, the stunning views begin to open up at the par three 5th where players can take in the spectacular backdrop of the beach and the sea beyond.

The grass is always greener on a tee far away. Golf is unique in that: it is a ball game that does not require a standardized playing area. This means that each golf course is different and is designed around natural elements such as hills, grass, water, sandy areas.

Sunset over the Romanos, Costa Navarino in Greece

Romanos, Costa Navarino in Greece Located within the beach town of Messinia on the luxury resort of Romanos in Greece this breath-taking golf course boasts views of the ocean over the historic Bat of Navarino. There are two signature golf courses to choose from; The Dunes Course was designed by Ryder Cup captain Bernhard Langer and filled with the scent of the surrounding olive and citrus groves. The par 71 Bay Course meanwhile was designed by renowned course designer Robert Trent Jones Jr. and features panoramic sea and mountain views.

Enjoy ocean views at Golfe de Cannes-Mandelieu, French Riviera

Golfe de Cannes-Mandelieu, French Riviera The historic Old Course Mandelieu was founded in 1891 by Grand Duke Michael of Russia and is the oldest golf course on the French Riviera . Carved from a forest of Mediterranean umbrella pines, it is split in two by the River Siagne and boasts wide fairways and undulating greens. The course is suitable for both experienced and beginner golfers and combined with the warm Riviera climate and nearby beaches, makes for an idyllic day ashore.

Seaside views over Verdura Golf & Spa Resort, Sicily

Verdura Golf & Spa Resort, Sicily Considered one of the best 36-hole combinations in Europe, the five-star Verdura Golf & Spa Resort is ideally situated on the stunning southwest coast of Sicily . Designed by Californian architect Kyle Phillips, the award-winning resort melts into the Sicilian landscape, surrounded by 570 acres of olive groves and countryside views out over the sea. There are two championship 18-hole golf courses plus a 9-hole course and a driving range to be enjoyed whilst a specialist golf massage is also available at the spa to ease aches and pains before heading back to your luxury yacht.

See what else the cruising grounds of the Mediterranean have to offer with our full area guide and photo tour and check out the range of superyachts available for Mediterannean Golf charter vacations in the region this summer.

2024 Players Championship TV schedule, live stream, coverage, channel, watch online, golf tee times

How to watch every memorable moment of the 2024 players championship on tv or streaming live online.

players-flag-removed-2022-getty.png

Business picked up on the PGA Tour this week with the league's best players battling it out at TPC Sawgrass for the 2024 Players Championship. Following a signature event that put the PGA Tour back on track after a slow start to the season, its most notable hosted tournament enters the weekend just a month before major season begins with the 2024 Masters.

Scottie Scheffler, who won last week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and stands as the reigning Players champion, appropriately entered in the favorite, and while he's been battling through a  nagging neck injury , somehow remains in contention as one of six players most likely to upend 54-hole leader Xander Schauffele.

Schauffele is seeking the most significant victory of his young career (as well as his first victory in two years). The 30-year-old has been in numerous close-but-no-cigar situations at major championships over the last few years, and beyond the $4.5 million winner's share from the $25 million purse , he has an opportunity to stick his flag in the ground as a legitimate contender on the PGA Tour.

Wyndham Clark, the 54-hole leader and reigning U.S. Open champion, sits one back of Schauffele after an up-and-down third round. He remains the most likely to surpass Schauffele, but it will likely require quite an effort Sunday as the final pairing should battle down the stretch.

Follow live Players Championship leaderboard coverage throughout Sunday's final round  at TPC Sawgrass.

Other than Jon Rahm and 2022 champion Cameron Smith, who both defected from the league, most notably missing from the field this week is Tiger Woods. It came as a bit of a surprise when Woods did not commit to The Players, particularly given its the final year for which he is automatically eligible. Tiger claimed he wanted to play once a month in 2024, and after withdrawing from the Genesis Invitational for what was described as an illness (not an injury-related reason), it was thought he would suit up in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Instead, it looks like Woods may play just 1.5 competitive rounds this year before traveling to Augusta National for the Masters.

While attending The Players is a dream for many, simply being able to watch the event live from home or the office is an incredible treat each year, and we here at CBS Sports are thrilled to bring you wall-to-wall coverage Sunday.

Enough talking about it. Below is how you can watch as much of the 2024 Players Championship as possible.

Fisherman’s Hand Bitten Off After Being Attacked by Alligator on Golf Course: ‘His Hand Is Gone’

A 9-foot, 3-inch alligator bit off a man's hand on a Flordia golf course over the weekend

A Florida fisherman’s hand was bitten off by an alligator on a Leesburg, Fla. neighborhood golf-course pond on Sunday,  the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) confirms with PEOPLE.

The 9-foot, 3-inch alligator lunged at the victim, who had caught a fish in the pond, reports Fox 35 .

Witness Ron Priest told the local Fox affiliate that the man had caught a fish. He explained that as the victim was on the ground, he was “facing the gator.” Priest explained that “the Gator got the guy in the hand, and the two rolled.”

Priest’s wife was one of two calls that reported the incident to 911. In one audio from the dispatch call, the caller is heard telling the dispatcher : “There is a gator attacking a man in my backyard,” adding, “Some people now have stopped in their golf carts!”

That same caller told the 911 dispatcher that the man was "moaning and groaning constantly" and walking around with blood on his hands.

Once the other person called in, the dispatcher asked, “Is this regarding a gator attack?”

“Yes, he took his hand off,” replied the second caller.

“Oh no, OK,” added the dispatcher. Then, in a panic, the caller said, “Hand is gone!”

After the alligator bit off the fisherman’s hand, the animal then abandoned the victim and the caught fish and went back into the pond, reports the New York Post .

Minutes after the 911 calls were made, a medical helicopter arrived and airlifted the man to an Orlando hospital, reports Fox 35. There was no update regarding his condition at the time of this publication.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said the alligator was then trapped and removed from the pond, FWC confirms with PEOPLE.

The FWC recommends several precautionary measures when in the presence of alligators. These include keeping a safe distance from the animal, calling the toll-free Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-FWC-GATOR if an alligator is spotted, keeping pets on a leash and away from the water’s edge, swimming during daylight in designated swimming areas, and never feeding an alligator.

Representatives for the and Lake County Fire Rescue did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for more information on Tuesday.
