Rolex Yacht-Master Ultimate Buying Guide

rolex yachtmaster buying guide

As Rolex’s most diverse sports watch collection, the Yacht-Master is not only available in a wide assortment of case metals and sizes but it has also been paired with various bracelet styles and bezel materials. In less than three decades, the Rolex Yacht-Master collection has been home to dozens of references – some of which have been discontinued – and the nautical-inspired sports watch continues to be a mainstay of the Rolex lineup. There are two distinct models that share almost identical names: the Yacht Master and the Yacht Master II.

While the original Rolex Yacht-Master is an ultra-luxurious take on Rolex’s already popular sports watches, the Rolex Yacht-Master II was purpose-built to time out regattas in competitive sailing. Essentially, the Yacht-Master is the kind of watch you wear while lounging on a boat and a Yacht Master II is what you wear if you’re racing one. Nonetheless, both Rolex watches are incredibly popular, sought-after for their sleek designs and impeccable quality.

With that in mind, if you’re in the market for a Rolex Yacht Master, there are some important things you should know about the model (such as its history, pricing, and features) before you make a decision. Here, we’ve compiled everything you need to know about buying Yacht-Master and Yacht-Master II watches to make the most informed purchase possible. Ready to get started?

Even though the Yachtmaster collection is one of the newest additions to the Rolex lineup, there has been a great amount of innovation over the years. History of the Rolex Yacht-Master

While we wouldn’t be introduced to the very first Yacht-Master until 1992, Rolex’s history with sailing actually dates back to 1958, the year the Swiss watchmaker partnered with the prestigious New York Yacht Club. By then, Rolex had already garnered a reputation for making great waterproof watches with the invention of their Rolex Oyster case back in 1926. So, the partnership was actually quite a natural next step.

Rolex solidified its relationship with the world of sailing in 1966 when Francis Chichester — one of history’s most exceptional navigators — became the first person to sail around the globe on his yacht, the Gipsy Moth IV, with a Rolex on his wrist. His voyage, which spanned from August 1966 to May 1967, took him 29,600 miles around the world. however, the most impressive part is that he only had a few tools to help him navigate his way, including nautical charts, a sextant, and a Rolex Oyster Perpetual. The Rolex wristwatch chronometer he used was a reliable and steady partner, helping him keep time amidst rough conditions for 226 days at sea.

Despite the brand’s massive success in creating watches that were great for sailing, Rolex continued to hold back its efforts to create a watch specifically for this category. The brand did briefly dabble with the idea in the 1960’s, releasing a prototype dial for the Cosmograph chronograph with the name “Yacht Master” on it, but the idea never took hold. Today, only two known examples of this prototype Daytona Yacht-Master are known to exist — one belonging to Eric Clapton (whose model sold for $125,100 at auction in 2003) and one owned by legendary Rolex collector John Goldberger.

In 1992, we were finally introduced to the modern Yacht Master we know and love today. Its official name, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master, was the brand’s first ultra-luxury sports watch built for the open seas. To make sure that collectors understood the luxury aspect of this new watch, the very first 40mm model was forged entirely out of solid 18k yellow gold and featured a matching gold bi-directional rotating bezel (marked to 60 minutes for timing) alongside a gold Oyster bracelet. Over the next few decades, Rolex has expanded the collection using a variety of materials as well as adding new sizes to the luxury nautical watch collection.

15 years after the first release of the Yachtmaster, Rolex introduced the regatta chronograph Yacht-Master II specifically made for sportsmen to use while regatta racing. To cater specifically to these athletes, Rolex outfitted the watch with important features like a programmable countdown timer (to measure with reliability how much time until the start of the race) and both flyback and fly-forward functionality (for easy synchronization should the race committee have to restart the race sequence). Another key difference is that the Rolex Yacht-Master II is only available in one size, 44mm with an Oyster case and bracelet. However, there are a variety of alloys available.

How Much is a Rolex Yacht-Master?

Because there is such a wide variety of sizes and materials used across the Rolex Yacht-Master collection, the prices tend to vary significantly. For example, you can pick up some of the older or smaller Rolex Yacht-Master models for around $5,000 on the second-hand market. However, newer, larger Yacht-Master models, especially those forged out of precious metals, can sell for well into five-figures.

How much is a Yacht Master II?

Due to its large size, complicated movement, and frequent use of precious metals, the Yacht-Master II is one of the higher-priced Rolex watches you can purchase. In terms of pre-owned prices, a stainless steel reference of the Yacht-Master II starts around $15,000. This may seem steep, considering that this Yacht-Master II is stainless steel and doesn’t feature any diamonds or gems. However, the complexity of the movement is what really makes this watch shine and it is the primary factor behind its high price tag. On the higher end, the yellow gold ref. 116688 costs $43,550 retail and can be bought for around $28,000 on the pre-owned market.

Buying Pre-Owned vs New Yacht-Master Watches

The key difference between buying a pre-owned Rolex Yacht-Master or Yacht-Master II versus a new one is the price. For a retail Rolex model , you will surely pay a premium – especially if you choose one of the precious metal models. On the secondary market, you can get a Yacht-Master for a much lower price, and many collectors find this option a better value for their investment. However, this is still totally dependent on the specifics about the watch which you can get an idea of in the chart above. The price of a pre-owned Yacht-Master will always vary depending on factors like its alloy, the year it was produced, condition, and whether it is a luxury-oriented Yacht-Master or a sporty and purpose-built Yacht-Master II.

Often, many collectors turn to the second-hand market to purchase a Rolex Yacht-Master. Of course, the price is a big factor, but due to the durability and overall build quality, a used Rolex Yacht-Master represents a highly competitive offering. Because these watches are purpose-built to withstand weather and water, they tend to age well even if they have been heavily worn, loved, and used. Another reason that collectors turn to the second-hand market is to get their hands on early models. Since the Yacht-Master has only been around for about 30 years, it is still quite easy to track down some of the early references. This is a great opportunity for collectors who not only love the Yacht-Master as a watch but who also want to make a smart investment for their collection that has great potential to increase in value.

Rolex Yacht-Master References

While the Yacht-Master is one of the newest Rolex models, only first introduced in 1992, the watch has been given a wide variety of upgrades in sizing, alloys, and bezels over the years. Here, this comprehensive list outlines all of the standard-production Yacht-Master references since its initial introduction. This list is also incredibly important as a reference if you are purchasing a Rolex Yacht-Master on the secondary market, as it will serve as a great quick reference for what models have been produced over the years.

Everything You Need To Know About The Rolex Yacht-Master Features & Options

Since the first all-gold Yacht-Master was released in 1992, Rolex has expanded the line with a variety of aesthetic details and mechanical upgrades. Here, we’ll explore the different options available on both the retail and secondary market for the Rolex Yacht-Master collection.

Rolex Yacht-Master materials

Today, Rolex no longer makes yellow gold versions of their standard Yacht-Master model, replacing it with Everose (their proprietary rose gold alloy) and 18k white gold. However, the 42mm version is the only white gold version (which was only just introduced at Baselworld 2019) is the only white gold model, as well as the only 42mm model in the collection. – Yellow Gold (discontinued) – Yellow Rolesor two-tone  (discontinued) – Everose Gold – Everose Rolesor two-tone – White Gold – Rolesium (Oystersteel and platinum)

Rolex Yacht-Master sizes

Rolex has produced this luxury sports watch in a few different sizes to ensure that everyone has a Yacht-Master that fits their wrist perfectly. However, the smaller sized Yacht-Master models, known as the Lady Yacht-Master watches, have been discontinued in favor of the newer 37mm models. Today, women are reaching for more unisex sizes and designs, which could be what lead to the decision by Rolex. But that doesn’t mean women collectors are strapped for choice — as the current retail models are incredibly luxe and sophisticated for enthusiasts of both sexes. Furthermore, the secondary market is a great place to still get your hands on the smaller sized Midsize and Lady Yacht-Master models, and going pre-owned also opens up the doors to now-discontinued models like the solid yellow gold Yacht-Master watches. – 29mm (discontinued) – 35mm (discontinued) – 37mm – 40mm – 42mm

Rolex Yacht-Master bezel

With the Rolex Yacht-Master, the materials and aesthetics of the bezel depend on the material used for the case. With the Yacht-Master, there are bezels that consist of solid 950 platinum or 18k gold with raised, polished numerals. There are also bezels that are matte black Cerachrom ceramic with raised numerals, which are typically only fitted to the various solid 18k gold Yacht Master references. One of the less common and more flashy Yacht-Master bezels is nicknamed the “gummy bear” and it features rainbow-colored sapphires set around the bezel.

Rolex Yacht-Master dial

The dial of the Yacht-Master is quite archetypal of other Rolex sports watches. To ensure the watch is easily readable, the dial layout of the Yacht-Master features Mercedes-style hands, lume-filled hour markers, and a date window over at 3 o’clock. The dial itself is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal that has a Cyclops magnification lens for easier reading of the date. When it comes to the dial color of the Yacht-Master, there are several colors and materials that have been used over the years, like the beautiful blue dial on the ref. 116622 or the luxe sandblasted platinum dial that can be found on the now-discontinued version of this reference.

Rolex Yacht-Master bracelet

The Rolex Yacht-Master only ever features either an Oyster bracelet or an Oysterflex bracelet. The iconic, three-link bracelet Oyster bracelet is a Rolex staple, and it is featured across nearly the brand’s entire collection — from the Datejust to the Daytona to the Yacht-Master. In 2015, Rolex also introduced the now-famous Oysterflex bracelet on the then-new Everose gold Yacht-Master. This rubber bracelet is far more impressive than it appears at first glance. The rubber strap is actually reinforced by an internal flexible metal blade, making it incredibly durable and sporty, while still having this elevated aesthetic that matches the overall luxury feeling of this timepiece.

Rolex Yacht-Master movement

Depending on the size of the Yacht-Master watch, it will have a different movement to fit the case. Additionally, in 2019, Rolex updated the 40 version of the watch to feature the new-generation Cal. 3235 movement. Below are the sizes Rolex has used in its various Yacht-Master watches over the years.

– 29mm : Caliber 2135; Caliber 2235 – 35mm : Caliber 2135; Caliber 2235 – 37mm : Caliber 2236 – 40mm : Caliber 3135; Caliber 3235 – 42mm : Caliber 3235

Everything You Need To Know About The Rolex Yacht-Master II Features & Options

Below, we’ll outline the different options available on both the retail and pre-owned market for the Rolex Yacht-Master II collection.

Rolex Yacht-Master II materials

In keeping with the inherently luxurious feel of the Yacht-Master line, the Rolex Yacht-Master II is outfitted in some of the world’s finest alloys. Many collectors love this watch for its combination of precious metals and durable stainless steel — what Rolex calls Rolesor. On the Yacht-Master II, there is the Everose Rolesor which is beloved for the warm pink hue of its 18k Everose gold components. Another great combination is the white gold and platinum Yacht-Master II; however, this is obviously a much more opulent choice at represents the top-of-the-line offering in the Yacht-Master II lineup. Of course, there is also a stainless steel option with a blue ceramic bezel for those who just want sheer practicality and durability. Unlike the standard Yacht-Master, you can get this larger, more complicated timepiece outfitted in solid yellow 18k gold if you really want to go all out. – Yellow Gold – Everose Rolesor two-tone – White Gold and platinum – Oystersteel

Rolex Yacht-Master II sizes

There are a lot of features that separate the Rolex Yacht-Master II from the standard Yacht-Master, and the 44mm size is immediately one of the most noticeable. While the Yacht-Master II case is just 2mm larger than the largest Yacht-Master, this extra-large sizing helps this watch house a more complicated dial and movement.

– 44mm

Rolex Yacht-Master II bezel

Another one of the big differentiators with the Yacht-Master II is that large, beautiful bezel. The bidirectional rotatable ‘Ring Command bezel’ on the Yacht-Master II is specifically designed to help the wearer time out a regatta. Unlike most bezels that operate independently from the internal movement, the ‘Ring Command’ bezel on the Yacht-Master II actually works with the watch’s state-of-the-art movement. Rotating the bezel unlocks access to the programmable countdown timer, enabling quick and easy setting for use during competitions. While the design is incredibly complex, the aesthetics are beautifully simple.

When it comes to the look of the bezel itself, the Yacht-Master II does differ from the standard Yacht-Master. While a two-texture timing bezel defines the original model, the real star of the Rolex Yacht-Master II is that bright, beautiful blue Cerachrom bezel. This blue ceramic bezel is featured on the stainless steel, yellow gold and two-tone Everose Rolesor Yacht-Master II watches; however, the white gold models receive their bezels in sandblasted platinum.

Rolex Yacht-Master II dial

The Rolex Yacht-Master II dial layout is stunning, sophisticated, and totally different than any of the other Rolex dials due to its niche complication. On the dial, you will find a variety of features including the countdown display (which can be programmed anywhere from 1 to 10 minutes) that you can read via the red arrow-tipped hand. You will also notice the central flyback/fly-forward chronograph hand, the center hour and minute hands, and the running seconds sub-dial.

The dial of the Rolex Yacht-Master II is also outfitted with 12 lume-filled hour makers for added readability. Today, the most modern references are outfitted with Rolex’s Chromalight display, which is a luminescent material that emits a blue long-lasting glow.

You will also notice a big difference between the dial of the new generation of Yacht-Master II watches and the first generation, which featured baton-style hands that pointed to square hour markers. It was only in 2017 that Rolex decided to marry the style of the Yacht-Master II with the brand’s famous Mercedes-style hands. Rolex also updated the hour markers to feature a triangular hour marker at 12 and a rectangular hour marker at 6, rather than just square-shaped markers all the way around.

Rolex Yacht-Master II bracelet

Unlike the Yacht-Master which has two bracelets, the Rolex Yacht-Master II is only available with an Oyster bracelet. The sporty, durable 3-piece link bracelet is a staple for the brand’s sports watches, which makes it a perfect choice for this professional regatta watch. Rolex has also outfitted this Oyster bracelet with an Oysterlock folding clasp, built specifically to prevent the wearer from losing the watch due to accidental opening. This is a great feature for this model, which is purpose-built to be used during tough racing conditions.

Rolex Yacht-Master II movement

It’s clear that the Rolex Yacht-Master II is an incredible looking timepiece. But, the most impressive part of this watch is by far its movement. When the watch was first released, the Yacht-Master II was outfitted with the brand’s Caliber 4160, with Caliber 4161 making its debut a few years later in 2013.

Rolex Yacht-Master Ultimate Buying Guide Rolesor Blue Dial

The Rolex Yacht-Master II features one of the brand’s most complicated in-house movements to date — the self-winding mechanical chronograph, caliber 4160/4161. This movement boasts high-tech features like a countdown timer with both flyback and fly-forward functionality and a mechanical memory with on-the-fly chronograph synchronization, making it incredibly sophisticated. Additionally, the bezel (aka the Ring Command Bezel) is actually connected to the mechanism itself, allowing the wearer to adjust and set the countdown feature quickly and easily on the go. Rolex says it took its engineers some 35,000 hours of development to create this mechanism — and we think it was well worth it. – Ref. 116689 : Caliber 4160; Caliber 4161 – Ref. 116688 : Caliber 4160; Caliber 4161 – Ref. 116681 : Caliber 4160; Caliber 4161 – Ref. 116680 : Caliber 4161

Celebrities Who Wear the Rolex Yacht-Master

It probably doesn’t come as a surprise that one of Rolex’s most bold and luxurious watches is popular among the world’s most famous celebrities. One of the most well-known A-listers to sport the Yacht-Master is Mark Wahlberg, who is already a really big Rolex fan. We’ve seen him out and about in a solid 18k yellow gold Rolex Yacht-Master II, which totally pops against that blue ceramic bezel. Mark has no trouble making a statement with his watches, and that’s clear with this stunning timepiece.

Tennis champion Roger Federer also famously sports the top-of-the-line 18k white gold and platinum Yacht-Master II, while comedian and host Ellen DeGeneres is often spotted wearing her the 18k Everose gold Yacht-Master 40 with a black Cerachrom bezel and a black Oysterflex bracelet. Other celebrities that have been seen wearing the Yacht-Master include the following list of names, although there are many other stars who proudly have a Rolex Yacht-Master in their collections. – Russell Crowe – Lydia Ko – Sir Robin Knox-Johnston – Mark Wahlberg – Bruce Willis – Connor McGregor – Emeril Lagasse – David Beckham – Guy Fieri – Steven Gerrard – A$AP Rocky – Billy Joe Saunders – Flo Rida – Drake – Manny Pacquiao – Ellen DeGeneres – Ed Sheeran

How to Style The Rolex Yacht-Master

The Yacht-Master was an instant classic when it was introduced by Rolex, which means that it is incredibly easy to work it into your wardrobe. What we love so much about this watch collection — whether we’re talking about the Yacht-Master or the Yacht-Master II — is that it has this incredible balance of luxury and sports-oriented performance. Being able to dress this watch both up and down is what makes the Rolex Yacht-Master so much fun to wear. Here are just three classic ways you can wear this watch.

Yacht-Master with Bracelets

Ladies love this watch for its luxe finishing and superior durability. What woman doesn’t want a watch they can wear to drinks, diving, or lounging in the cabana? Because of that, we love pairing a beautiful two-tone Rolex Yacht-Master with bangles and bracelets that match the gold components on the watch. For example, we love the pairing of the 29mm Lady Yacht Master ref. 169623 with a gold Cartier love bracelet bangle and a linked chain. If you’re feeling really bold, you might as well go all out and pair your gold bracelets with a solid, 18k yellow gold Yacht-Master. Fair warning: you’re going to not be able to stop staring at your wrist. Chances are, no one else will be able to either.

Dressing Up With The Matte Black ref. 268655

We love this unisex 37mm timepiece because it works equally well on both men and women’s wrists. What makes this watch so special is the rubber Oysterflex strap watch that allows it to be sporty and durable. Matching that bracelet with the matte black bezel and dial really elevates the entire watch, which looks handsome and luxurious with the warm 18k Everose gold case. So when evening comes, head to the bar for sundowners wearing this ref. 268655. Of course, it will look good with a dark jacket. But, this watch will really pop if you pair it with a warm-colored shirt that accentuates the natural Everose hue. Finish the outfit off with dark wash jeans and you’ve mastered the elegant-meets-accessible look that defines this modern luxury watch.

Casual Elegance with the Yacht Master II

The two-tone Everose Rolesor Yacht-Master II is the ultimate luxury sports watch. You have luxury elements like the ceramic Cerachrom blue bezel and 18k Everose gold alongside durable Oystersteel and one of Rolex’s most complicated mechanisms to date. Because of this watch’s exclusivity, durability, water resistance, and functionality, there really isn’t a better choice for spending time on the high seas. And while this watch was built to time out a regatta, it is going to look just as good on your wrist while you lounge, swim, and play. We suggest pairing your Two-Tone Everose Rolesor’s blue bezel with a matching blue suit. Alternatively, you can pair it with a white and blue pinstripe shirt, rolling up the sleeves and unbuttoning the top few buttons to make your look feel more casual.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Rolex Yacht-Master

What is the difference between the yacht master and the yacht master ii.

The standard Rolex Yacht-Master is a luxury-oriented sport watch that displays the time and date. The Yacht-Master II joined the Rolex lineup in 2007 and offers never before seen functionality thanks to its regatta timer. Powered by the Calibre 4161 — one of the most complicated Rolex movements ever made (second only to the annual calendar found in the Sky-Dweller — the Yacht-Master II has a patented mechanical memory and on-the-fly-synchronization used for the regatta timer. Additionally, the bezel is different on the Yacht-Master II because it controls part of the movement inside the case rather than just working as an external mechanism to help track elapsed time. The Rolex Yacht-Master II also has an entirely different aesthetic and features a larger 44m case with chronograph pushers on either side of the winding crown.

Is a Rolex Yacht Master a good investment?

Yes. The Rolex Yacht-Master is a good investment for collectors for two main reasons. For one, these watches have historically held great value because of their uniqueness and sportiness; however, at the present time, they remain somewhat undervalued compared to their siblings in the Rolex catalog. Consequently, they offer significant potential for appreciation in the future. Secondly, the Rolex Yacht-Master is a luxury watch and is often outfitted in precious metals. These precious metals inherently allow it to hold great value as the years go on, and its premium construction guarantees that it will always be worth something.

What was the Rolex Yacht-Master built to do?

The Rolex Yacht-Master was first created as a luxury sports watch, whereas the Yacht-Master II was built as a professional regatta timer with a luxury flare. Comparatively, the Yacht-Master can time events up to 60 minutes with its rotating bezel and the Yacht-Master II is outfitted with a countdown timer with flyback or fly-forward functionality to use when timing out a regatta race.

How do you use the Yachtmaster II?

While the Yacht-Master II looks quite complicated, Rolex has made sure that using it is actually quite intuitive. After setting the adjustable countdown timer to your desired setting, you start the time. Press the top button to start the countdown timer, then pressing the top button a second time will stop the timer. However, by pressing the bottom button while the chronograph is running, that will adjust the timer forwards or backward to the nearest minute — allowing it to be perfectly synchronized to the official race clock.

How can I spot a fake Rolex Yacht Master?

As with any Rolex watch, the clues are in the details. When it comes to the Yacht-Master, you’re going to want to look at details like the adjustable countdown timer, which is incredibly complicated, making it almost impossible for fake counterfeit watches to replicate. Additionally, Yacht-Master models are luxury sports watches crafted from the world’s best materials and to the highest possible standards. If you notice any defects like dial printing or finishing looks less than perfect, there is a good chance that you are dealing with a fake Rolex Yacht-Master.

FULL YACHT CHARTER REVIEW

Inspected by us..

Create an album of memories that will last long after your vacation in Croatia has ended. CLASE AZUL yacht charter and her expert crew will make sure that you and your charter party have an out-of-this-world holiday experience.

Lend your trust to SuperYachts Croatia, and our local know-how will make a difference between a regular holiday and a once-in-a-lifetime vacation. Being built in 2022 means that CLASE AZUL yacht charter offers a spotless interior and a speckless exterior, alongside top-of-the-line yacht amenities.

The builder of CLASE AZUL is Radez, an established Croatian shipyard with decades of experience building vessles of different lengths and categories. Stepping onto the yacht, you will definitely notice the hallmarks of Croatian naval engineering. Since Croatia has a long maritime tradition, it reflects greatly on yachts being built here: strong hulls and sails, built exclusively for cruising in the Croatian Adriatic sea, as well as tendencies towards joining practicality with high naval aesthetics.

48 meters of pure bliss are to be found on CLASE AZUL yacht charter, with 9 crew members that will introduce charter guests to all of her luxurious amenities. The incredible sleekness of the sundeck allows guests to seamlessly transition between her deck space and to enjoy the incredible treasures on offer to travellers who decide to book this awesome yacht.

Her most cherished possession is definitely the raised platform sundeck jacuzzi – this spectacular amenity resembles an isle in the middle of the sea; a mirage rising above the golden teak of CLASE AZUL`s sundeck. Joining together two of the most primal elements, a centrally placed firepit near the jacuzzi creates a unique atmosphere, particularly in the evening.

This one-of-a-kind set-up puts CLASE AZUL yacht charter among the best and most well-equipped charter yachts in the Croatian Adriatic sea. Because of this, she offers unique opportunities to experience many incredible things all at once; watch a movie under the starry Croatian sky on comfortable sofa loungers, while a quaint fire burns in your vicinity, creating a homey and safe environment. If this does not suit you, you can also swap positions and watch a movie from the comfort of the jacuzzi.

There are no limits to what you can experience on CLASE AZUL yacht charter. If you want to know more, keep reading…

A DAY ON THE YACHT

Sailing is one of those experiences that makes life worth living, but sailing on CLASE AZUL yacht charter is an entirely new level of excellence and luxury. Built to provide as many unique experiences as possible, this one-of-a-kind yacht is proof that a sailing yacht can compete with motor yachts, and win by a landslide. Since this is a newly-built vessle, CLASE AZUL yacht charter is filled to the brim with incredible amenities, fitted to create the best possible charter experience.

Waking up in the master suite aboard such a splendid yacht means that you will be surrounded by luxury and elegance the second you open your eyes. If this is your first time on a chartered yacht, there is a possibility that CLASE AZUL yacht charter will set the bar so high,  no other yachts will ever come close to her design, decor and functionality.

Start by washing yourself in the marble ensuite bathroom, so spacious it could be a cabin on smaller yachts. Once finished with the morning routine, step onto the main deck and immediately feel the soft and farm summer breeze blowing from the sea.

Breakfast will be served on the main deck aft alfresco area, but if you would rather nibble off your feet on the sundeck, that can also be arranged. Sit down with the rest of your charter party at a dining table so well decorated, you might not want to disturb even a single element, as not to compromise the entirety of the decor.

You can order any breakfast dish you want, if you inform the crew or the chef beforehand, but you can also expect dishes similar to smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, avocado toast with cherry tomatoes and fresh Croatian cheese, quinoa salad with chives, pistachios and local olive oil.

After the most important meal of the day, prepare to face the only problem you will have on your yacht charter holiday in Croatia: with so many things on offer, what to try first?

You could ask the captain to set a course towards a solitary cove, where you could experience genuine privacy and enjoy your yacht`s water toys, as well as the professionalism of your charter crew. Allow them to create a beach picnic experience or just an improvised lounge bar, right on the beach, with Tikki torches, low lounge chairs, cocktails and music.

Also, you could stay put on your fabulous yacht, experiencing the full range of her avid list of amenities, including the sundeck jacuzzi.

Since CLASE AZUL yacht charter is a sailing yacht, her abilities give her a unique experience she can offer to her guests – if the wind allows it, your captain will raise all sails and provide a ride of a lifetime.

There are a few things more satisfying than a yacht of nearly 50 meters developing her full speed under sail – no bystander would assume such possible grace from an inanimate object, but CLASE AZUL yacht charter defies all expectations.

When this yacht keels, you will definitely fall in love and will book your next Croatian charter vacation right then and there. Thankfully, your local SuperYachts Croatia broker is always open for first-minute bookings, knowing full well that CLASE AZUL has this kind of effect on her guests all the time.

These are just some of the options that this marvellous yacht offers to her guests. Let the local know-how of your charter crew determine which specific Croatian locations you might find worthy of a visit, including the Zadar archipelago, the Istrian peninsula, the Kvarner gulf or the very southern tip of the Croatian Adriatic sea and the famous walled city of Dubrovnik .

Whichever activity you choose, know that there is no wrong choice – since this is your vacation, you will get to experience each and every beautiful location in Croatia AND the wonderful amenities of CLASE AZUL yacht charter.

Start by simply heading over to the sundeck and looking around your surroundings – after all, it is a beautiful summer day, with warm temperatures, a clear sky, a shimmering sea and a distant sound of crickets and wavelets crashing against the shoreline.

If you hear the beckoning call of the sea, jump right into the refreshing Adriatic – you could even try to jump from CLASE AZUL`s bow.

Once refreshed, you may think more clearly about what you want to do with your day next. Consult with your charter party and decide the best course of action is to go for a sail, before stopping for lunch near the island of Molat , in the broader region of the Zadar archipelago.

The city of Zadar and the island of Molat are divided by approx. 10 nautical miles of water, meaning there will be a chance for a quick sail. Once underway, your experienced captain will determine if there is enough wind to open the sails – if that is the case, take a comfortable seat on the sundeck and enjoy the smooth ride. CLASE AZUL yacht charter behaves quite miraculously on the water, so your sailing experience will be, in many regards, similar to flight.

Once you reach Molat island, you could stand on the main deck bow and try to find the perfect beach for a private lunch. Once the ideal location is discovered, your yacht will anchor in a way that excludes any newcomers from setting up near you, thereby giving you full reign of your exclusive beach. This way, you will enjoy avid levels of privacy and peace, without any potential disruptions to your perfect charter experience in Croatia.

Before lunch, you will find your crew sitting at the main deck aft alfresco dining table, where your Michelin-level lunch will be served.

Start with oysters and black caviar to open the appetite, then continue with a traditional Croatian black risotto and salmon cooked in a champagne and saffron reduction, served with couscous, soy sauce and rosemary. For dessert, expect something along the lines of chocolate-chocolate cake with vanilla filling and sprinkled with coconut shavings.

After lunch, it is time to take to the sea, thanks to numerous water toys on CLASE AZUL yacht charter. Some of your guests can stay on the yacht and watch the festivities from the sundeck, while others have fun in the sea with jet skis, Sea bobs, kayaks, paddleboards and snorkeling gear.

Rely on your expert crew to provide safety tips and basic instructions on how to handle a specific toy, as well as keep an eye out for the general safety of your entire charter party.

Thanks to their vigilance, everybody can relax and have an even better time in the water. Let the entire afternoon slip by in casual leisure and comfortable lounging, before the sun gets too low for guests to be in the water. At this moment, the evening on CLASE AZUL yacht charter can officially begin.

To start with, return to your cabin and pick an evening attire, something between semi-casual and formal – comfortable enough to enjoy wearing it, but stylish enough to celebrate the occasion of your yacht holiday.

After you are done preparing, let a water taxi transport you and your charter party to Zadar, while CLASE AZUL yacht charter stays anchored in your private bay.

Spending a night in the charming town of Zadar will be a memorable experience. First, there is the Old Town peninsula, with charming narrow streets, polished cobblestone squares and historic architecture, now housing quaint boutiques and shops of all kinds. During the summer, something is always happening in or around Zadar, so concerts, shows, exhibitions or festivals are also an option.

If you are more into a relaxed approach, there is always an option of sitting down at a quaint cafe or an exclusive restaurant and enjoying the vibrant atmisphere of this buzzing seaside town.

Once you are thoroughly satisfied with Zadar`s atmosphere, return to CLASE AZUL yacht charter, for a terrific ending to a terrific day. Once the taxi boat picks you up and returns you to your yacht, head straight onto CLASE AZUL`s sundeck, where a welcoming glass of champagne will signal the begging of the afterparty.

Allocate all across the sundeck, with some guests hopping directly into the jacuzzi, while others relax at the bar or around the fire pit, while the starry sky above creates a dream-like atmosphere.

Spend your time in the company of your friends and family until the early hours of the morning, and return to your cabin, completely satisfied and amazed that your charter holiday in Croatia has just begun.

YACHT CHARTER DINING

Every dish you will sample aboard CLASE AZUL yacht charter will outdo the previous, in terms of taste, scent and intricacy of the dish itself. This all means that your expert chef is a person of immense knowledge and expertise, due to his experience working in Croatian Michelin restaurants, but also under foreign master chefs.

Honing his craft by delivering extraordinary dishes, and following the guidelines of international cuisines, your chef will prepare dishes like parmesan with white Istrian truffles, a summer salad with fried lamb bits and pomegranate, butter-fried calamari served with lemon vinegarette, crispy sweet potatoes and milky-spinach mash and a classic cheesecake with an extra layer of passionfruit filling for dessert.

Your yacht chef will always provision with local and eco-friendly Croatian farms for the best meat and produce, while also visiting fish markets for the freshest fish available. Additionally, the local know-how of your chef will enable you to try authentic and historic Croatian recipes, which use native herbs and spices, that grow in the wild.

Since CLASE AZUL yacht charter is such an incredible vessel, she will also impact your overall dining experience. The expert crew will always try to create a luxury dining atmosphere if you want a formal dinner, or an informal setting if you are more into casual gastronomy.

All of this will enable you to sample dishes like poppy seeds with polenta and local Croatian cheese, garlic-grilled sea bass with roasted macadamia and asparagus and Bourbon glazed slow-cooked pork with crispy sweet potatoes. For dessert, a classic tiramisu around a caramel and dark chocolate tart.

YACHT MAIN DECK

Boarding CLASE AZUL yacht charter is like stepping into another plane of existence, one entirely dedicated to luxury, style and satisfaction.

Your first step will probably be taken on the swimming platform, an extremely wide surface suitable for a variety of different holiday options. Once here, a staircase from either port or starboard side will lead you onto the incredibly spacious main deck aft,  which is equipped with an enormous C-shaped lounge sofa, practical coffee tables and a plant, to bring some life onto the deck.

Forward from the lounge arrangement is the main deck aft alfresco dining table, placed under the sundeck hardtop, to provide protection from the sun. Thanks to the open plan of this portion of the deck,  even the hardtop does not disrupt the feeling that you are truly outside, enjoying a meal among the elements.

The light beige and crème colour palette suit this section of the main deck, because it complements the open concept of the entire aft portion of the main deck. Primal colours of blue and green naturally suit beige and crème colours, thus creating a seamless transition between the outside and the inside.

The entire main deck is walk-around, but the bow of the main deck does not contain anything of value for the guests; rather it acts as a stow-away place for some of the water toys, with the crew being able to launch them using a hydraulic crane.

Yacht charter accommodation: main salon & dining area

Stepping inside the main salon on CLASE AZUL yacht charter, guests will surely be swept off their feet once they find themselves surrounded by brand-new interior and incredible design. The colour scheme is mostly made up of light grey main tones, with overlapping tones of different shades of black and matte aquamarine details.

To port is an L-shaped sofa arrangement, with several movable chairs and high-end coffee tables,  with a bar being placed directly opposite it, on the starboard side of the salon.

Forward from this “club” area is the dining table. Because of the decor and the atmosphere, it would be a shame not to have at least one meal in the interior, so you and your guests could experience a different kind of dining atmosphere than the one on the main deck aft alfresco area.

YACHT SUNDECK

This is one of the most elemental and primal sundecks on any yacht charter in the Adriatic, period.

The entire area looks nothing like a yacht deck, instead resembling Olympus, an elemental plain where the Greek gods and goddesses spent their time in godly leisure.

Joining together the elements of water and fire creates a surreal atmosphere, which will elevate any action taken on the sundeck; simple lounging will suddenly become profound, sunbathing will become a meditation and relaxing in the jacuzzi in front of the firepit will be an out-of-body experience and definitely one of the highlights of your Croatian yacht holiday.

Let this be the perfect stage for experiencing all the wonders of a Croatian summer

The design of the sundeck is perfect, incorporating the soft golden tones of the teak flooring together with smoot textured beige leathers and plants, that add a dash of green liveliness to the feel of the deck.

The elevated jacuzzi island, fitted with a sunbed around the tub, is located on the stern with the firepit and movable lounge chairs placed directly in front of it, enabling guests to watch the fireplace directly from the jacuzzi. This kind of luxurious amenity is reserved only for the privileged few, who book CLASE AZUL yacht charte with SuperYachts Croatia.

Around the first mast is a double-sided sunbed, with cushions and pillows, wide enough to have several guests lie from either side and still have enough room for more people. Amidship on the sundeck is another extra-wide sunbed, with integrated lounge seating facing towards the bow and another sunbed facing the stern.

Forward still is the fully-stocked and fully equipped wet bar, entertained against the second mast. There are barstools and a few other movable lounge chairs. As if all of this was not enough, CLASE AZUL yacht charter also has an integrated film screen with a projector on the sundeck, enabling guests to watch a movie in their very own open-air cinema .

Combine this amenity with the royal jacuzzi and the incredible fire pit, and you will not want to ever separate from the glorious sundeck on CLASE AZUL yacht charter.

YACHT LOWER DECK

The lower deck of CLASE AZUL yacht charter is equally luxurious as is the rest of the yacht. There are 2 full-beam master staterooms and 4 double cabins on the lower deck. The first master cabin is located near the bow, while the other is placed more towards the stern of the yacht, with double cabins in between.

Yacht Charter Accommodation: The 1st master stateroom

The first thing an observer notices in the first master stateroom is the colour choices – every colour tone is subtle and there are no explosive colour choices. Most of the interior is done in one of many different tones of grey and beige, with partial turquoise sheets for the berth and a small flower arrangement.

The kingsize berth is placed in the centre of the cabin, with a minimalistic wood headspace adornment. Textures and tones are the main distinctive elements of the design in this cabin, overlapping and creating a collage of complementing tones and patterns.

The ensuite is divided by the living space with a glass wall, which exudes a stubborn need for bathing in the large bathtub, very close to the berth. This arrangement resembles a basic wellness set-up, where you can get out of the relaxing warm bath and slump directly onto the comfortable king-size berth.

The ensuite is decorated by specked white marble wall panels, with two sinks and a bathtub; the head is located in a separate ensuite compartment. This stateroom also comes equipped with a full-length table, where you can fix your makeup, read a book, enjoy a meal or answer some business emails.

Right next to the table is a day sofa, perfect for lounging around in your master stateroom, while your better half tries on the best dress combination for dinner aboard CLASE AZUL yacht charter.

Yacht Charter Accommodation: The 2nd master stateroom

The second master is similar in many regards to the first master, in that it uses the same colour palette and is similarly decorated, with a resembling floor plan. Beige and light grey dominate, with subtle aquamarine details.

A centrally-placed king-size berth is adorned with a minimalistic headspace decoration There is also a tub near the berth, on the port side of the cabin, effectively transforming this entire space into your private spa. In front of the berth is an island cabinet, which is ideal for storage, but also contains the pop-up TV. Thanks to portholes on both sides of the stateroom, the second master stays filled with light all throughout the day.

Yacht Charter Accommodation: The double cabin

The double cabin on CLASE AZUL yacht charter is somewhat less luxurious than its master counterparts, but still alluring enough to grab the attention of charter guests. Light grey, beige and crème colours dominate the interior of this space, with a quaint table and a big mirror in front of it. You can use this set-up to apply make-up or do some unexpected work.

There are subtle white nightstands on both sides of the berth, as well as a knee-high marble table with a modern sculpture, adding a dash of artistic impression to the cabin. There is a flat-screen TV in front of the berth, and the ensuite bathroom is equipped with a large and gorgeous black marble shower cabin, as well as two sinks and a head.

YACHT BEACH CLUB & SWIMMING PLATFORM

The wide swimming platform aboard CLASE AZUL yacht charter is spacious enough to handle the creation of a beach club, several inches from the sea`s surface. Seeing that this yacht does not have a dedicated beach club, her swimming platform serves both purposes.

First, you can use this space to enjoy being close to the sea, while drinking cocktails on movable sunloungers, prepared by your loving crew. Second, a quaint and private dining arrangement can be set up to provide you and your guests with a romantic and intimate setting for enjoying luxury dining and a Croatian sunset.

Also, the crew can book a professional masseuse, who can provide massages directly on the swimming platform, without disturbing the experience of the rest of the guests.

CLASE AZUL yacht charter has plenty of sunbathing spaces, but you will also be able to sunbathe right on the swimming platform, because there is plenty of space for you and several members of your charter party to comfortably enjoy the warmth of the sun`s rays.

Swapping between water toys will also be easy and practical, due to the length of the swimming platform – while one group of guests wait their turn for the jet ski, other can put on their snorkelling gears, without causing any traffic jams.

There are also added possibilities for yacht charter guests aboard CLASE AZUL yacht charter, like using the swimming platform to practice your long golf game, by using bio-degradable golf balls and floating golf holes. This way, you can entertain yourself and your charter party with a small golf competition,

YACHT WATER TOYS & WATER SPORTS

When it comes to water toys, CLASE AZUL yacht charter is better equipped than some average waterparks, meaning this yacht can provide her guests with countless hours of fun in the water. There are two of every toy, meaning guests will always share their experiences, which makes it that much more enjoyable, alongside being the safest option.

First, a pair of jetskis ensures that you can race with your friends or go exploring the shoreline of some private Croatian island in pairs. Jet skis are an ideal toy for guests who want to feel the excitement in riding fast and jumping over the waves, as the sea splashes around them.

After experiencing unrivalled swiftness and agility of the jetski, switch gears and dive underwater with the help of 2 Seabobs; these electrically powered forward propulsion devices will help you move through the water like a fish or a torpedo, mimicking a feeling similar to flight.

Hover above the Croatian Adriatic seabed and observe a multitude of different specimens of flora and fauna – you can even ask your crew to prepare an underwater camera, so you could take snapshots of an incredible environment from angles that would otherwise be impossible.

For paddle enthusiasts and those guests who prefer tranquillity and serenity above thrills and speeds, 2 standup paddleboards and 2 inflatable kayaks will provide just that: a soothing experience of gliding over the smooth surface of the sea, observing the nearby coastline and scouting for that perfect landing, where you could spend some time enjoying complete privacy, before launching off again, scouring the coastline for beautiful scenery, pretty beaches or some other interesting things.

There are also waterskis for both children and adults, so the entire family can participate; let one of your family members ride the waterskis, while the others ride with your crew members in the tender, which will be pulling the skier. Swap between rides and see who can hold on the longest or even try jumping – falling will be accompanied by a harmless splash and lots of laughter.

CLASE AZUL yacht charter also holds 6 adult and 6 children snorkelling sets, enabling all members of your charter party to hit the water at the same time. These group snorkelling sessions are always a popular decision with charter guests, because they give a new social dimension to something that is mostly a solitary activity.

Try communicating below the surface with hand signals and unarticulated sounds that are produced when you try to say something, but only bubbles leave your mouth. Measure who can free dive the deepest or chase one another in a game of snorkel-tag.

Lastly, for fishing enthusiasts, there are also several amateur rods aboard CLASE AZUL yacht charter, for relaxing fishing sessions on your charter holiday in Croatia. Ask your crew about the best fishing spots in the Croatian Adriatic sea, like around the Istrian peninsula, the Kvarner gulf or the Vransko lake . Let your expert crew transport you to the best fishing spots and amaze your charter chef when you ask him to prepare your catch of the day.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

yacht master azul

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

yacht master azul

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

yacht master azul

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

yacht master azul

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

yacht master azul

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

yacht master azul

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

yacht master azul

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Oyster Perpetual

Yacht-Master 42

An emblematic watch in rlx titanium.

The emblematic watch of the sailing world, the Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42 is now available in RLX titanium. More than a simple variation, the use of this new, robust and light material required the development of particular industrial techniques, allowing the metal to be manipulated with the utmost care. Advantages proven by Sir Ben Ainslie, renowned skipper and luminary of the SailGP, who tested a Yacht-Master 42 in RLX titanium exclusively created for him, enabling the development of the new version presented in 2023.

RLX titanium is a grade 5 alloy that is lighter than steel and denser than aluminium.

Mastering lightness

Titanium is a surprising metal. The titanium selected by Rolex to manufacture its watches is a grade 5 alloy named RLX titanium. It is both lighter than steel and denser than aluminium, yet harder and more resistant than either of these metals. Its characteristics are so unique that its processing and finishing – particularly the technical satin finish specially developed by Rolex and specific to watches in RLX titanium – required the development of a dedicated industrial process. Using RLX titanium to create the case and bracelet also reduces the weight of the watch by about one-third compared with the same watch in Oystersteel. A major watchmaking feat, marked by the distinctive symbol on the winding crown: a dash surrounded by two dots.

Unprecedented aesthetic balance

The new Yacht-Master 42 stands out with its finishes, a combination of technical satin, high-sheen and polished, proof of Rolex’s know-how in machining and finishing. The three finishes delight the eye with their subtle play on textures and light, contrasting the gleaming polished surface of the crown guard, the lustrous high-sheen on the top edges of the case lugs, and the matt of the technical satin finishing – with its pronounced grain – visible on the case and bracelet. An unprecedented aesthetic balance reinforced by the combination of the RLX titanium’s anthracite grey colour and the matt black colour of the Cerachrom bezel insert in ceramic.

Unparalleled comfort

The new Yacht-Master 42’s Oyster bracelet is also made of RLX titanium. Sporting a technical satin finish extending to the edge of its links and to the sides of the Oysterlock safety clasp’s cover, it is equipped with an Easylink comfort extension link that allows its length to be easily adjusted by about 5 mm. It also includes ceramic inserts inside the links to enhance its flexibility and longevity.

Tested against the elements

In 2021, Sir Ben Ainslie, a four-time Olympic sailing champion, was chosen to test a Yacht-Master 42 specially designed for him. This gentleman skipper competed in the SailGP championship with the only watch of its kind in the world: a Yacht-Master 42 in RLX titanium. By exposing its watches to extreme conditions, Rolex perpetuates the vision of its founder Hans Wilsdorf, who saw the world as a living laboratory in which only extreme testing could provide evidence of a watch’s reliability. A chronometer with superlative precision, made of a material used in high-technology industries, the watch proved to be the perfect ally for the driver of the Great Britain team. Ultralight, robust and extremely corrosion-resistant, it accompanies him on board without hindering any of his movements.

I love the diversity.

A breath of fresh air for sailing

It is a competition unlike any other in the world. With its multihulls travelling at more than 50 knots – almost 100 km/h – and comprising multiple events across the world, the SailGP series showcases the most innovative technologies in water sport. Rolex has been Presenting Partner and Official Timepiece of SailGP since the competition was inaugurated in 2019. A veritable ballet of the seas, SailGP is a spectacle like no other. Aboard their catamarans flying across the water, team members grapple with the elements, each playing a precise role.

Faced with the unexpected, they must band together to withstand stress and make instantaneous decisions. To sense the direction of the wind before the others and gain the best trajectory to win. Among these outstanding athletes is Rolex Testimonee Sir Ben Ainslie, who tested a Yacht-Master 42 in RLX titanium during races. With incomparable lightness, this watch offers unparalleled liberty of movement, as much on land as at sea. It allows the wearer to lead their life with a masterful hand, in the perpetual quest to balance speed and staying the course.
