The bow benefits from a cozy lounge that is well shielded from sun and wind. To the aft, the saloon merges with the generous cockpit extended with a large aft platform. All the areas combined form a universal, open environment where flexibility and freedom reign.

While housing the main helm, the 36m² flybridge of the sailing yacht is dedicated to leisure with more than enough space for movable furniture, a jacuzzi, fully equipped wet bar, a barbecue and large sunpads. The hulls provide impressive volumes to set up a custom layout including airy, luxurious guest cabins and an opulent master suite with a walk-in dressing, desk, sofa, retractable TV, and an immense bathroom. This is the perfect setting to unwind and relax after a long day of basking in the sun. The new Sunreef 60 Eco has gone all-out in terms of solar power, which should help keep electric motors topped up for extensive adventuring

There’s a rapidly accelerating trend towards maximising the amount of solar power installed on cruising catamarans, which can be seen being taken up a step on the new Sunreef 60 Eco.

Given multihulls ‘ extensive deck areas this makes sense in many ways and obviates the need for a separate diesel generator on an increasing number of craft.

Sunreef has taken this a whole stage further with its latest 60ft sailing catamaran, the Sunreef 60 Eco which is equipped with integrated solar panels that are even built into the hull sides, as well as the superstructure and hardtop. In total up to 17kW of solar can be accommodated in this way. The solar panels were developed in-house and, although they are less than 1mm thick, the Polish company claims they provide a very high degree of resistance to shock and abrasion.

The boat has electric propulsion via twin 70kW electric motors, driven by lithium battery banks of 140-200kW capacity, depending on the option specified. These are sized to be able to run house loads continuously, even overnight, without recourse to the twin 80kW diesel generators that also serve as range extenders.

The highly-specialized lithium battery packs can power all of the yacht's components and appliances for more than 24 hours, including the air-conditioning. Sunreef Power Eco Is A Think-Different Catamaran

Any yacht that’s built with a “solar skin” is bound to attract owners who have at least a few thoughts about the environment. Such is the case with Sunreef’s Power Eco series of catamarans. Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso recently took delivery of a 60 Power Eco, saying that sustainability considerations were fundamental to his vessel choice. The owner of the first 80 Power Eco , christened Sól , built the yacht entirely cruelty-free, including far more than avoiding animal-derived fabrics such as leather.

As just one example, there’s a composting machine on board Sól . It lets the chefs reduce trash by turning scraps into fertilizer for island farmers, who, in exchange, provide the yacht with locally grown microgreens. “This is definitely different,” says chef Sara Nelson. “I don’t know any other boat doing these things to the level that we’re doing them.”

The captain of Sól thinks about sustainability right down to the crew’s polishing tools for the hull. “You need woolies, but I had to go to the manufacturer to see if it was real wool or not,” Capt. Jack Gorman says. “These are synthetic wool. That’s what we’re going for. Everything down to the bottom paint is cruelty-free. Ablative bottom paints, if you put 20 gallons of that on your yacht, it sloughs off into the environment, and it’s bad for the reefs. We’re using a silicon base without biocides.”

The 80’s two rotating chefs trained in plant-based cooking with celebrity chef Matthew Kenney. Aboard Sól , they will prepare any type of food that guests prefer, but they are ready for charter clients who want all-vegan menus.

“Most people are reducers,” the 80’s owner says. “A small percentage of the world is vegan, but the majority of people have been looking for plant-based options—not necessarily three meals a day, but they will choose a plant-based dinner some percentage of their evenings.” Aboard Sól , he adds, “it’s delicious, exquisite, high-quality plant-based options.”

As their name implies, the Sunreef Power Eco yachts also have electric power. Sunreef has been adding energy-saving air-conditioning systems, along with custom battery banks that are lighter—and, therefore, can be bigger—than the types of batteries some other builders are testing.

The result is the kind of cruising and charter experience that appeals to people who are eager to make an eco-friendly turn. As Alonso puts it, “long, fume-free and quiet cruises let you enjoy the seas on a whole new level. This yacht has some amazing technology that cannot be found anywhere else.”

Fernando Alonso takes delivery of his electric 60 Sunreef Power Eco

Spanish Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso has said his new 18.3-metre Sunreef Power Eco has given him "exactly the yachting experience [he] was looking for" after taking delivery of the electric model earlier this year. 

The Grand Prix winner said that the yacht has enabled him to travel long distances "in total silence, with no fumes, no vibrations". 

The sale of the solar-powered catamaran was signed in September 2021, with Alonso saying that Polish yard Sunreef was an "easy choice" for him as it offered "technology that could not be found anywhere else". He added: "They combine luxury and sustainability like no other shipyard. When I visited their facility in Poland, I saw first-hand how all the details are taken care of."

The luxury catamaran specialist was also Alonso's first choice for yacht charters in the past, calling chartering Sunreefs a "magical experience" when speaking to BOAT International in a social media livestream .

Sunreef is no stranger to celebrity clients, with Rafael Nadal, Nico Rosberg and adventurer Mike Horn all included in Sunreef’s customer base. But Sunreef has universal appeal, with customers who “aren’t as public”, said Alonso.

Nadal and Rosberg’s endorsement of the brand was a part of Alonso’s decision to purchase, but he said that Sunreef’s commitment to sustainability is what sealed the deal for him.

“I think [Sunreef] is the only company that takes sustainability to a very serious level,” said Alonso during his BOAT International interview. “To have a fully electric catamaran powered by solar panels made perfect sense to me.”

Alongside the model’s eco-credentials, Alonso said the aesthetics of the boat were important. “There are other possibilities of integrating solar panels on a yacht, but it never looks good,” he explained, calling the 60 Sunreef Power Eco a “sexy” boat.

Alonso is drawn to the multihull platform for a number of reasons, including the additional space, increased stability and flexibility that multihulls offer. “You can get closer to the coast compared to a monohull,” he said.

The 60 Sunreef Power which Alonso has selected features electric engines with an ultralight battery bank. The yacht is also designed with an advanced solar panel power system that covers up to 68.6 square metres of the yacht’s surface, allowing up to 13kWp of green energy to be generated.

Interiors on board are finished in sustainable materials and can accommodate up to six guests and four crew.

Alonso added: “On board, all that matters is peace of mind, fresh air, and good company. Yachting should not be about ego. For me, it’s about sharing good moments and being respectful towards the environment.”

Sunreef delivers 60 Power Eco to Fernando Alonso

The F1 star is full of praise for the 60 Sunreef Power Eco after taking delivery of the Polish builder’s smallest solar-electric powercat.

Fernando Alonso has taken delivery of the first 60 Sunreef Power Eco, having commissioned the solar-electric powercat in 2021 and joined Sunreef Yachts’ cast of ambassadors, which includes tennis legend Rafa Nadal, former F1 star Nico Rosberg and explorer Mike Horn.

Alonso, 42, ordered hull one of the 60 Sunreef Power Eco and the Aston Martin driver was closely involved in the build and customisation of his catamaran, paying numerous visits to the builder’s main shipyard in Gdansk on Poland’s north coast. The 60ft yacht has a beam of 35ft-plus beam, a vast aft cockpit with a swim platform and aft garage, a full-beam bow terrace and generous flybridge.

Following delivery, the record holder for most F1 races enjoyed a yachting holiday with friends and family on board his luxury Category A catamaran, which is fitted with Sunreef’s unique ‘solar skin’ system on the hulls, superstructure and hard top.

Featuring electric motors, an energy-saving air-conditioning system and a custom-engineered battery bank, the eco-friendly catamaran offers a continuous supply of clean power for a smooth e-motoring experience.

“ The 60 Sunreef Power Eco gave me exactly the yachting experience I was looking for. Long, fume-free and quiet cruises let you enjoy the seas on a whole new level. This yacht has some amazing technology that cannot be found anywhere else,” said Alonso, who recorded his 100 th F1 podium finish in this year’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

The 60 Sunreef Power Eco is the third powercat from the Eco range and follows the 80 Sunreef Power Eco and 70 Sunreef Power Eco models, which had world premieres at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September, represented by hulls three and one respectively.

In late October, the 80 Sunreef Power Eco had its US debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show with the display of represented by hull two, Sol . Sunreef’s dealers in Asia include Hong Seh Marine in Thailand and Lee Marine in Thailand.

SUNREEF 60 ECO SURREAL SOLAR POWER BREAKTHROUGH

Surreal is a recently launched Sunreef 60 sail catamaran combining the shipyard’s expertise in luxury catamaran design with the latest Sunreef Yachts Eco  green tech solutions. 

The new  Sunreef 60 Eco Surreal, is the first 60 foot catamaran that was equipped with in-house developed composite-integrated solar panels built into the yacht’s hull sides, superstructure and bimini roof, maximizing solar power generation and offering unrivalled energy efficiency for long, vibration and fume-free navigation as well as for the appliances on board.

With a thickness below 1mm, the ultralight solar skin is the industry’s lightest and most efficient solar power solution.

Thanks to their advanced integration technique,  Sunreef Yachts Eco  solar panels have a very high resistance to shock and abrasion. The catamaran was also fitted with a powerful custom-engineered battery bank.

The luxury sail yacht welcomes up to eight guests thanks to a smart and spacious 4-cabin layout. With a fully-equipped galley placed down in the starboard hull, the catamaran’s saloon offers generous lounging and dining areas. The custom designed interior and furniture are both contemporary and timeless.

The catamaran’s alfresco relaxation spaces include a large flybridge with a wet bar, a sunken lounging area on the foredeck and a full-beam aft cockpit with a big swim platform.

The flybridge on board Surreal welcomes guests to an immense lounge with a bar and a large c-shaped settee.
