Disney Friendship Boats Guide

In this article, we discuss the Friendship Boats at Walt Disney World. We’ll look at their routes, hours of operation, and a few tips for utilizing the boat service.

Disney Friendship Boats travel two different routes at the Walt Disney World Resort. They are one of the most pleasant forms of Disney transportation available.

One set of Friendship Boats services the Epcot Resort Area . This route takes guests between Hollywood Studios and Epcot. It stops at the resorts in between.

Another set of Friendship Boats travels across the World Showcase Lagoon at Epcot. This route takes guests between the World Showcase Plaza and docks at the Morroco Pavilion.

Below, we’ll go over how best to use the Disney Friendship Boat service to your advantage. Those staying in the immediate area or with plans to park hop between Epcot and Hollywood Studios will likely want to use the boat service.

Boat from Epcot to Hollywood Studios

Disney Friendship Boats Route

We’ll first look at the Friendship Boats that travel between Epcot and Hollywood Studios. These boats travel in a specific order, stopping at each area resort between the two parks.

Once you get their route down pat, you’ll have a good idea of how to use this form of transportation. During the busier portions of the day, you can expect to see two to three Friendship boats running through the area.

One route starts at Epcot and travels to Hollywood Studios. Vice versa, another route begins at Hollywood Studios and ends at Epcot. So they will have three resort stops each way.

These boats will continually pass each other along the waterway throughout the day. Each boat follows the same route. At the end of each route, they change directions and head back the opposite way.

Here is the Friendship Boat route for the Epcot Resort Area.

Friendship Boat Route from Hollywood Studios to Epcot:

  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Swan and Dolphin Hotel (includes Swan Reserve)
  • Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort (One Stop)
  • Disney’s Boardwalk Inn

Friendship Boat Schedule (Hours)

Per Disney’s website, hours of operation vary subject to water and weather conditions . At the time of this update, Disney’s Friendship Boats begin running in the Epcot Resorts area around 7:00 a.m. and continue until about one hour after the parks close.

With that said, we recommend checking the hours of operation for the boat service after you arrive at the hotel. Hours fluctuate based on the park’s opening hours and should be posted at your hotel, along with hours for other transportation options.

Friendship Boat Schedule

Special Circumstances:

We recently stayed at Disney’s Yacht Club and attended After Hours at Disney’s Hollywood Studios , where the park remained open until approximately 12:30 a.m. Since this was a special ticketed event, the Friendship Boats closed at their regular time.

Since the boats were not available, guests in the Epcot Resorts Area could walk or take a bus back to their resorts. So, if you are staying in the area with plans to attend After Hours at Epcot or Hollywood Studios (or a similar event), know that the Friendship Boats might not be available afterward.

Friendship Boats Accessibility

Most transportation options at Disney World accommodate guests with accessibility needs. Disney provides an overview of each form of transportation on their website. Learn More:  Transportation and Mobility Disabilities at Disney World

Per Disney, “Watercraft access varies depending on the type of watercraft and the existing water levels and conditions. Please contact a Disney Cast Member at the watercraft dock for information and assistance.”

Resorts with Disney Friendship Boats

Guests of the following resorts have immediate access to the Disney Friendship Boat service:

  • Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
  • Disney’s Beach Club Resort
  • Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resort
  • Walt Disney World Swan Reserve

As noted above, the Friendship Boats run in two directions. Therefore, when boarding a boat from your resort’s dock, you’ll want to be careful to get in the correct line.

It is not uncommon for two boats to dock simultaneously at any of the resorts. Therefore, each resort dock has two sides.

Friendship Launch at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club

Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club guests share a boat dock at the Yacht Club’s lighthouse. It’s a reasonably large area. A sign indicates where guests should line up on each side of the lighthouse.

Boat dock at Disney's Yacht Club

In the picture below, you can see a boat docked at the Yacht Club. At each stop, guests onboard are allowed to disembark. Then, guests waiting can board the vessel.

The boat has arrived from the Swan and Dolphin Hotels and will travel to Disney’s Boardwalk next. After that, it will continue to Epcot.

loading area for Friendship Boats at Yacht Club

Guests going to Epcot or the Boardwalk will line up on the left-hand side. When the boat leaves, it will stop at the Boardwalk before Epcot.

Note: Most guests staying at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club will want to walk to Epcot. The walk ranges from 5-10 minutes and will take less time than the boat service.

Friendship Boat from Yacht Club to Boardwalk to Epcot

So, if you’re leaving the Beach or Yacht Club and going to Disney’s Boardwalk, you’ll want to take the Epcot Friendship Boat. This route is an excellent alternative for walking to Disney’s Boardwalk.

Friendship Boat on Crescent Lake

For instance, if you’re dressed up for dinner, you might not want to work up a sweat by walking to the restaurant. Instead, you can take the boat and then enjoy a casual stroll around Crescent Lake on your way back in the evening.

Boardwalk Inn Boat Dock (Promenade Pier)

Our next stop along the Friendship Boat route is Promenade Pier at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn. Below is a look at the boat dock during the evening. It sits in the center of the Boardwalk.

Friendship Boat Dock at Disney's Boardwalk

This boat dock works similarly to the one at Disney’s Yacht Club. Make sure to get in line on the right side to reach your next destination.

From the left side of the dock, you’ll travel in the following order:

  • Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club (one stop)
  • Disney’s Swan and Dolphin (includes Swan Reserve)

From the right side of the dock, you’ll travel directly to Epcot. There are no other stops along this route.

Swan and Dolphin Hotels Boat Dock

Next, we’ll look at the Friendship Boat dock at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts, including the Swan Reserve. These resorts are unique because Disney doesn’t own or operate them.

This boat dock sits on a walkway between the Swan and Dolphin Hotels. Guests of the Swan Reserve will have to walk over to access the Friendship Boat service.

The right side goes directly to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Guests headed to Epcot or the other resorts will board on the left side. Stops are in this order:

Swan and Dolphin Friendship Boat to Hollywood Studios

Tip: If you’re returning from Hollywood Studios and going to the Boardwalk Inn, you can exit at the Swan and Dolphin. You will have to walk over the bridge to the Boardwalk, but it’s only a five-minute walk at the most. This will eliminate having to stop at the Yacht and Beach Club next and save you approximately 10-15 minutes of travel time.

Here is a photo that shows the distance between the Swan and Dolphin Friendship Boat dock to the Boardwalk. The entrance to Disney’s Boardwalk is at the end of the bridge on the far left-hand side of the image.

After leaving the Swan and Dolphin Resort, our Friendship Boat continues to its last stop at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This Friendship Boat will stop at Hollywood Studios to unload and reload before returning in the opposite direction.

Friendship Boat Dock at Hollywood Studios

Friendship Boats at Epcot

Last, we’ll examine the Friendship Boat dock at Epcot’s International Gateway. This boat dock is only a few short steps from the back entrance to the park. One of the great things about this location is that it rarely has long lines to enter the park.

Epcot International Gateway Friendship Boat Dock

The International Gateway is shared among guests of the Epcot Resorts or those arriving from the Skyliner Resorts. In addition, guests park hopping between Hollywood Studios and Epcot also use this entrance.

Epcot Boat Schedule

Alternatives to the Friendship Boats

If the Friendship Boats are unavailable or you don’t want to wait, there is a walking path between Hollywood Studios and Epcot. This path will pass by most of the resorts on the way.

When you reach the Boardwalk, you can continue to Epcot via the Boardwalk side or the Beach and Yacht Club side. At this point, the Swan and Dolphin Hotels will be to the immediate left.

Related: Walking from Hollywood Studios to Epcot via Disney’s Boardwalk

Additionally, guests can take the Skyliner from Epcot to Hollywood Studios or vice versa. We discuss that route in detail in a separate article. However, note you will altogether bypass the Epcot Resorts when taking this route.

Disney Friendship Boats in Epcot

In addition to the boats in the Epcot Resorts Area, you will find a separate Friendship Boat transportation option within Epcot. These boats travel from the World Showcase Plaza across the World Showcase Lagoon and then to the Morocco Pavilion .

Epcot Friendship Boat

Unfortunately, these boats won’t save you much time unless you were to happen upon one that’s departing. However, they will save you steps.

The only drawback is that you’ll miss touring a few countries in the World Showcase along the way. But if you find yourself in need of this service, by all means, take advantage of it.

You’ll want to remember that Epcot has a fireworks show on the lagoon each evening. On a standard schedule, these boats typically begin running around 11:00 a.m., and the last boat departs across the lagoon at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Final Thoughts on Disney’s Friendship Boats

Disney’s Friendship Boats are a great way to get around the Epcot Resorts area. They are an instrumental form of transportation if you aren’t familiar with the area or are a first-time visitor.

While they aren’t the fastest transportation, the boats provide a solution for those traveling with small children or anyone not up for a long walk between the parks and resorts.

Hi, I'm Amber the owner of Resorts Gal . We have stayed at every single Disney Resort Hotel. Our philosophy? We believe you can have an incredible time at the resorts without ever setting foot in a theme park. We live near the parks and visit weekly and would love for you to follow along.

I really like this comprehensive explanation regarding the Friendship Boats. It’s very helpful to know about when the World Showcase boats stop running. I’m going in November and will have some folks who will need to use them with me (and I think it will be fun to ride them for the first time). Thank you!

Hope you have a nice time!

Disney Transportation Map

Our Disney Transportation Map is an interactive map designed to help you plan your next Disney vacation. Use it to determine which Disney Resort is the best fit for your next trip to Florida!

How to Use the Disney Transportation Map and Guide

The massive Walt Disney World Resort transportation system can be confusing. Use our Disney World Transportation Map/Guide to navigate your way around the park. We provide the bus, monorail, and boat routes you will need to reach your destination.

To use the interactive Disney World Transportation Map and Guide, simply click on the name of the Disney Resort you wish to depart from or arrive at. You will see the Disney transportation options available to you. The transportation routes are color-coded and highlighted to correspond with the information in the legend key. Note that certain destinations do not have direct transportation options, and you may need to take a connecting mode of transportation to reach your destination.

Walt Disney World Transportation Map and Guide

Disney Transport  is a massive public transportation system at Disney World that provides efficient transportation within the park. All modes of Disney transportation are complementary (i.e., FREE) and open to guests staying at a Disney Resort and staying off-property.

The system consists of buses, monorails, watercraft (water taxis, boats, and ferries), and other assorted modes of transport heading to areas throughout Disney World. Disney Transport provides guests with a wide variety of transportation options, including resorts to theme parks, theme parks to theme parks, resorts to resorts, and Disney Springs (the shopping, dining, and entertainment district). In other words, where ever you want to go to Disney World, you can get there using some form of Disney transportation. Plus, there are taxi services like Uber and Lyft within the park if you so choose.

Because of Disney’s large size – 25 Disney Resorts, 4 theme parks, and two water parks – deciding which mode of transportation you should use to get from point A to point B can be confusing. Thus, we have created a Disney World transportation map to help you find the best route to your destination. Continue reading for detailed information about transportation routes and pickup locations to and from each Disney Resort listed on the map.

How Does Walt Disney World Resort Transportation Work?

Disney provides transportation using buses, ferries/boats, monorails, as well as a few other options like railroad and parking lot trams. One of the great things about Disney transportation lines is that it is entirely free to use, which means you can potentially spend no money on transportation during your stay at the park. Of course, there are plenty of  parking lots if you choose to use your own car (you can even get free parking if you’re staying onsite) — and you can use taxi/Uber/Lyft options (extra charge) to speed up your arrival if necessary. However, if you plan on staying at a Disney Resort, there really is no need to open your wallet to get around Disney World.

As you can see from the Disney World Transportation Map, there is a wide availability of free transportation inside the park. In addition, every Disney Resort has stations/stops to catch various modes of transportation to a theme park, water park, and other destinations around Disney World.

Buses at Disney World

Buses provide Disney World guests a mode of transportation in locations where monorail or boat are not available, and walking is not an option. You can find Disney’s bus service connecting all in-park Disney resort hotels with each theme park and water park (most buses provide direct service), to/from Disney Springs, and service between parks.  Like all modes of Disney transportation, bus service is complimentary and offered to both visitors staying at a Walt Disney World Resort as well as those staying  off-site .

On average, Disney buses run every 20 minutes from all Walt Disney World Resorts, although wait times can vary. To accommodate breakfast dining reservations and parks with Extra Magic Hours, bus service to the theme parks typically begins at 6:30-7 a.m. (running on a less frequent basis). Buses run at full operation roughly one hour before the park opens and stop running up to 2 hours after the park closes in the evening. Buses to/from Disney Springs remain in operation until 2 a.m. Check with your Walt Disney World Resort for the latest information.

Larger  Disney World hotels have bus stops inside the resort grounds, whereas smaller resorts typically have stops near the resort’s front entrance. The bus stops for theme parks are located near the park entrance, and the Disney Springs stop is located near the Town Center entrance.

Transportation and Ticket Center & Monorail Service at Disney World

Disney Transportation Map

With over 150,000 daily riders, the  Disney World monorail  is one of the world’s most heavily used monorail systems. There are three monorail lines at Disney, all originating from the  Transportation and Ticket Center  (TTC). The Disney World Transportation Map lists them all. Monorail service is free for Resort guests and non-guests.

The “ Resort ” monorail line loops between Magic Kingdom and the TTC, making stops at the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and Contemporary Resorts.

The “ Express ” monorail bypasses the resorts and travels directly between the TTC and Magic Kingdom.

The “ Epcot ” monorail line provides service between the TTC and Epcot.

Transportation from a Deluxe Walt Disney World Resort to the Theme Parks

Guests staying at the Boardwalk-area resorts can either walk or take a ferry boat to Epcot and Hollywood Studios and buses to other theme parks and water parks.

Guests of other  Disney World Deluxe resorts  will use bus transportation to get to their theme park destination.

*see below for resort-specific transportation options

Transportation from Value and Moderate Disney Resorts to the Theme Parks

Guests staying at Value and Moderate resorts will  not  have access to either boats or monorail but  do  have access to buses that go directly to each theme park. Walking directly to a nearby park from your hotel may even be possible. For guests staying at Fort Wilderness, Disney offers a free shuttle service around the resort, making internal loops to take guests to different areas of the gigantic campground.

Transportation Between Resorts

Taking the free Disney transportation between parks can be confusing to the uninitiated. We recommend that you head to the nearest theme park and hop on a bus, monorail, or ferry to your destination. You may also find that heading to Disney Springs and catching a bus from there is an easy option. If time is of major concern, the quickest way to travel between resorts is by taxi/Uber/Lyft. This should cost you in the $10-$15 range, but the time you save may be worth the added expense.

Transportation from Disney Springs

Disney Springs  provides free parking throughout the day. While this may sound tempting to guests with cars, be warned that there is no direct transportation to the theme parks from Disney Springs. You can certainly take a bus or water taxi to other transportation hubs and find connecting services to the parks from there. Just be aware that transportation originating from Disney Springs will take longer than from other locations within Disney World. On a positive note, one-way service from the parks to Disney Springs  is  provided after 4 pm.

Transportation from Disney Deluxe Resorts

grand floridian resort & spa – disney world transportation map.

The  Grand Floridian Resort & Spa  is Disney’s flagship resort. It also provides its guests with a host of transportation options. • Fort Wilderness Campground – Boat (begins operating 30 minutes before the park opens on standard days, 1 hour before during Extra Magic Hours, and ends 45 minutes after the park closes).

Animal Kingdom Lodge – Disney World Transportation Map

Disney’s  Animal Kingdom Lodge  is the only Deluxe Resort that offers just one mode of transportation – bus service. The buses that provide service to AKL do not go directly to other resorts. That said, you will find buses that service all Disney World theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. As you exit the main lobby, the Animal Kingdom Lodge bus station is on the left. Unfortunately, there aren’t any walking paths between Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park despite their proximity.

  • Epcot – Bus (service runs from 6:30-7:00 AM until 2 hours after the park closes).
  • Magic Kingdom –   Bus (service runs from 6:30-7:00 AM until 2 hours after the park closes).

You can walk to Epcot in about 15 minutes, so the Epcot monorail is also within easy reach (if you don’t mind a little exercise). Buses depart from the front entrances of both the Swan Resort and the Dolphin Resort, while boats launch from the dock between the two resorts.

Port Orleans – French Quarter

Water launch service to Disney Springs is available from the marina. Disney bus transportation goes to all the theme parks and water parks. The bus stop is located outside the main entrance of the hotel.

Transportation from Disney Value Resorts

All-star resorts – disney world transportation map.

We have grouped the All-Star Resorts (Movies, Music, and Sports) into one category because they all have similar transportation services. Bus loops going directly to the Walt Disney World theme parks and water parks may or may not pick up guests from other All-Star resorts along the way. The bus stop for All-Star Movies is located at Cinema Hall near Donald’s Double Feature Gifts & Sundries; All-Star Music is located at Melody Hall near Maestro Mickey’s Gifts & Sundries, and All-Star Sports is located at Stadium Hall near Sport Goofy Gifts & Sundries.

  • Magic Kingdom – Bus (service runs from 6:30-7:00 AM until 2 hours after the park closes).
  • Disney Springs –   Bus (operates from 9 a.m. – 2 a.m.).

Pop Century Resort – Disney World Transportation Map

Pop Century Resort is a Disney Value Resort themed around 20th-century American pop culture. Disney bus transportation goes to all theme parks and water parks from the resort. The bus stop for Pop Century is located outside near the front lobby, just past Everything Pop Shopping and Dining.

Art of Animation Resort – Disney World Transportation Map

The Art of Animation Resort is themed around Disney animated classics like Finding Nemo and The Lion King. This resort has one bus stop with transportation to every theme, water park, and Disney Springs. The bus stop is located in front of Animation Hall.

Disney Skyliner

disney skyliner

Disney Skyliner is the newest Walt Disney World Resort transportation feature. The gondola lift system launched on September 29, 2019, and is now in full swing.

The Disney Skyliner  has 3 routes that connect to resorts and theme parks.

The lines for the Disney Skyliner are hubbed from a central station at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. There are 5 stations in total.

The 3 Disney Skyliner routes are as follows:

Disney Skyliner Map

 Epcot Line

Route: Caribbean Beach – Riviera – Epcot

The Epcot Line is the longest of the 3 Disney Skyliner lines. The duration between Caribbean Beach and Riviera takes approximately three minutes, and the duration between Riviera and Epcot takes approximately six minutes.

Hollywood Studios Line

Route: Caribbean Beach – Hollywood Studios

The ride time for a one-way trip between Caribbean Beach and Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park is 5 minutes.

Art of Animation and Pop Century Line

Route: Caribbean Beach – Art of Animation – Pop Century

The Art of Animation and Pop Century Line is the shortest route of the three. The ride time for a one-way trip on the Art of Animation route takes approximately 4 minutes.

Disney Minnie Vans, Uber, Lyft, and Taxi Service

For those of you who don’t mind spending the extra money to get better service, then Walt Disney World has a few options for you. Guests can opt for the convenience and playfulness of the Disney Minnie Vans service or the standard on-demand ride services of Lyft and Uber. And yes, there are still plenty of old-school taxis within the park as well. Any of these options will improve your comfort level and save you time.

Disney Minnie Vans

Disney Minnie Vans is Walt Disney World’s on-demand ride service. These vehicles operate daily from 6:30 am to 12:30 am and are available to anyone within the park.

Although Disney has partnered with Lyft on this service,  Disney Minnie Vans  are actually operated by Disney and driven by Disney Cast Members (Disney employees). To schedule a Disney Minnie Van, you simply open the standard Lyft app and call for a pickup as you would for a normal Lyft ride.

As far as the vehicles go, the vans are more like midsize SUVs. They are painted red with white polka dots (a la Minnie Mouse). Each vehicle will hold six passengers and carry two adjustable car seats for children.

The cost of Minnie Vans is much higher than a taxi, Uber, and standard Lyft rides. Be aware the Guests can only be picked up in designated pickup zones and not from sidewalks or non-designated areas. Minnie Vans are able to drop you off directly at the Magic Kingdom or next to Pioneer Hall at Fort Wilderness or anywhere else you wish to go.

Disney Minnie Vans are a good option if you don’t mind paying for comfort and point-to-point convenience.

Lyft and Uber

On-demand Lyft and Uber services are available throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.

While cheaper than Minnie Vans and regular taxi services, be aware that “surge pricing” is in effect during periods of high demand. Prices for Lyft and Uber could potentially exceed taxi rates during this time. But, for the most part, Lyft and Uber will be the cheapest transportation option (other than the free Disney Transportation options listed above).

Using an on-demand ride service like Uber and Lyft is fairly straightforward. Just download one of the apps and use it on your Android or iPhone. Remember to stay put once you call for the car, so there is no confusion as you meet your driver.

Taxis are located throughout Walt Disney World Resort and use different brand names (Yellow Cab, City, Checker, or Safety). However, all the taxis are yellow, and all are operated by Mears Transportation (a company that has an official relationship with Disney). We recommend that you use the yellow cabs (sedans and vans) with meters, lest you pay more than you have to.

Call (407) 699-9999 to schedule a pickup, or have your hotel’s front desk call over to a Yellow Cab or taxi to wait for you.

Theme parks, disney cruise line – what you need to know, cruise line ships, recent walt disney world, recent disneyland, all reviews, recent reviews, allears style, newsletter home, walt disney world transportation: walking paths.

With a plethora of complimentary and paid transportation options at Walt Disney World , it may seem too simple to get from place to place on your feet. But sometimes, simple is best (or, at least, convenient!).

swan yacht club map

We’re sharing Walt Disney World’s major walking paths — paths that guests can use to go from Resort to Park, Resort to Resort, and Resort to Recreation. We’re not including walkways within Resorts or jogging/walking trails (you can learn more about those here ). Rather, these are walkways that get you from one place to another without the use of transportation vehicles.

Lace up, and let’s go!

Magic Kingdom-Area Resort Paths

The Magic Kingdom-Area Resorts feature several walking paths that you can use to explore Resort to Resort, to get to the Parks, or to see things from a new perspective. In some cases, you can combine walkways to go even further. For example, if you don’t mind a 30+-minute walk, you could go from the Polynesian Resort to Magic Kingdom entirely by foot!

  • Contemporary Resort to Magic Kingdom

One of the shortest and most convenient walking paths on property is the 5- to 10-minute walk between the Contemporary Resort and Magic Kingdom. This pathway includes a designated security stop so you can skip the busier Park entrance bag checks and head straight to the tapstiles. On this walk you’ll pass the bus stops to your left as you approach the Park, and the Monorail will glide overhead.

swan yacht club map

  • Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to Magic Kingdom

This relatively new path will take you about twenty minutes to traverse, but along the way you’ll likely spot some Florida wildlife and be able to see Seven Seas Lagoon from a brand new perspective.

swan yacht club map

  • Polynesian Resort to the Transportation and Ticket Center

This path is actually a combination of the Polynesian’s internal walkways that connect directly to TTC . The most direct trip from the front of the Great Ceremonial House to TTC is about 1/3 mile.

swan yacht club map

  • Polynesian Resort to Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

This picturesque path winds along Seven Seas Lagoon and passes by Disney’s Wedding Pavilion. This one’s a great path to use if you want to partake of dining at the neighboring Resort, if the Monorail station happens to be closed at one or the other of the Resorts (you can catch it at the next stop!), or you want a unique view of the Electrical Water Pageant at night. This path is about 1/3 mile long.

swan yacht club map

  • Shades of Green Resort to Polynesian Village Resort

Shades of Green is a U.S. Department of Defense Resort, and for guests staying here, it’s about a one-mile walk to the front of the Polynesian Resort. This could be helpful if your family wants to hop on the Monorail or use boat service across Seven Seas Lagoon — or if you’re hungry for dining at the Monorail Resorts!

swan yacht club map

EPCOT/DHS-Area Resort Paths

All of the Resorts and hotels in the area of EPCOT and Hollywood Studios are linked by walking paths, making it the most connected area in which to lay your head at Walt Disney World. The Resorts — technically considered EPCOT-Area Resorts by Disney — on Crescent Lake include Beach Club Resort , Yacht Club Resort , and BoardWalk Inn . The Walt Disney World Swan , Swan Reserve, and Dolphin resorts sit slightly off to the side of Crescent Lake but still benefit from their proximity to the Parks.

  • Crescent Lake Resorts to EPCOT

All the Resorts on Crescent Lake connect to EPCOT’s International Gateway (also called EPCOT’s back or s econd gate). Technically they are all connected by walkways, though some Resorts are much closer to EPCOT than others. The Yacht and Beach Club Resorts are only about a quarter mile from EPCOT’s back gate.

swan yacht club map

BoardWalk Inn & Villas are under 1/3 mile from EPCOT’s second gate.

swan yacht club map

The Swan, Swan Reserve, and Dolphin resorts are about 3/4 of a mile from International Gateway (though some areas of these properties could be notably longer walks).

swan yacht club map

  • Crescent Lake Resorts to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The Resorts on Crescent Lake benefit from proximity to Disney’s Hollywood Studios as well, though the walks are longer in this case. All of these Resorts access Hollywood Studios via a path that runs past the bus stops and Skyliner station en route to the main entrance. BoardWalk Inn is the closest at about 3/4 mile from the entrance of Hollywood Studios.

swan yacht club map

Swan, Swan Reserve, and Dolphin are about a mile away by foot.

swan yacht club map

The Yacht and Beach Club Resorts are on the far side of Crescent Lake from Hollywood Studios. You’ll have to walk just over a mile to get from there to the Park entrance.

swan yacht club map

  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios to EPCOT

If it sounds fun to walk from one Park to another, this is your only east coast opportunity. Hollywood Studios’ front gate and EPCOT’s back gate are connected via all those EPCOT-Area Resort paths, and this will be the longest walk in this area. It’ll add 1.25 miles or so to your pedometer.

  • Fantasia Garden Miniature Golf to Swan, Swan Reserve, and Dolphin

If you like to swing a club on the miniature links at Fantasia Garden, note that there’s a very short walk from the Swan, Swan Reserve, and Dolphin resorts. You’ll only hit about a quarter mile on this walk! If you stay at Swan Reserve, you’ll quite literally be right next door. (Don’t forget to pack your putter!)

swan yacht club map

Disney Springs-Area Resorts

Disney Springs is proximal to a couple of Disney’s Disney Vacation Club Resorts . These Resorts are also walkable (for those ambitious enough to go for it) to golf!

  • Saratoga Springs to Disney Springs

Saratoga Springs is a massive Resort, and as such, some areas of the Resort are much more reasonable distances for walking to Disney Springs. The Congress Park section of the Resort is the best one for walking to Disney Springs. From here you can expect to trek  an average of a quarter mile.

swan yacht club map

The south ends of The Paddock and The Springs sections of the Resort are also walkable (roughly a half mile or so from Disney Springs Marketplace). If you’re staying in The Carousel, The Grandstand, or the far end of The Paddock sections, you’re probably better off taking an internal bus to one of the closer sections and making the walk from there (or finding a Sassagoula River water taxi and enjoying a leisurely float to one of the docks in Disney Springs).

  • Saratoga Springs Resort to Lake Buena Vista Golf Course

If you’re hoping to play a round of golf, Saratoga Springs Resort is a great location to make a potentially short walk to the Clubhouse of Lake Buena Vista Golf Course. The Carousel section is the furthest walk to the Clubhouse at about 1/3 mile.

swan yacht club map

Resort to Resort Options

Several Resorts are in close enough proximity that they make for an easy walk if you want to explore dining, atmosphere, and amenities at a nearby Resort.

  • Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground to Wilderness Lodge

The path between Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge makes good on the wilderness  descriptor. This roughly 3/4 mile path takes guests through the woods for a relaxing walk — and the amenities and dining at these Resorts means guests will surely be tempted to make the journey.

swan yacht club map

  • Art of Animation Resort to Pop Century Resort

Art of Animation was originally planned to be a second half of the Pop Century theme. It would’ve embraced the early 1900s and been dubbed “The Legendary Years”. Despite the change in theme, the distance between the Resorts remains miniscule; from lobby to lobby it’s just about 1/3 mile. Even better? The so-called Generation Gap Bridge that spans Hourglass Lake and unites the Resorts is also home to a Skyliner station !

swan yacht club map

  • Port Orleans — Riverside to Port Orleans– French Quarter

These sister Resorts share amenities, which means guests are free to go from one Resort pool or activity to another at the other half of the Resort. And though Riverside is a sprawling Resort with its own internal bus system, it is feasible to walk between the two. From one pool to the other is just over half a mile.

swan yacht club map

  • Caribbean Beach Resort to Riviera Resort

When Riviera Resort’s tower went up over the past couple years, it did so in a space that used to be home to several Caribbean Beach Resort buildings — that’s how close these two Resorts are. But because Caribbean Beach Resort is so massive, distances can vary when you’re walking from one to the other. From Centertown to Riviera is just over a quarter mile. From the furthest point at Caribbean Beach, however, it’s more than double that.

  • How to Resort Hop at Walt Disney World, Florida

Looking to learn about Disney World resort hopping? We asked Laura from The Traveling Elms to put together a guide.

For nearly a year, our friend Laura has had her motorhome parked in Florida, with Orlando as a base camp. They’re huge Disney fans, always on the lookout for anything that combines a love for Disney with the joy of free experiences .

Through their adventures, they’ve become experts in Disney World Resort Hopping, exploring the unique charm of each resort without ever needing a park ticket.

This guide is your shortcut to mastering the art of Disney Resort Hopping via the monorail and skyliner.

Whether you’re a seasoned Disney enthusiast or a curious newcomer, get ready to dive into the magic of each Disney resort, all without spending a dime on park admission.

Let’s get started on this magical journey together.

Similarly, parking at the resorts is intended for registered guests and those with confirmed dining reservations, so plan to use Disney’s free transportation options to move between resorts.

What is Resort Hopping at Disney?

Resort Hopping at Disney is exactly how it sounds! You “hop” from resort to resort checking out all of the amazing properties Disney has to offer.

This experience allows guests to visit multiple Disney resorts in a single day, taking advantage of the free transportation options Disney offers, such as buses, boats, and the monorail.

Resort Hopping is perfect for those looking to enjoy the ambiance and unique offerings of each hotel, from signature restaurants and unique shops to meticulously themed pools and public areas, all while soaking in the distinctive Disney magic that each property has to offer.

What to Do When Resort Hopping

When resort hopping at Disney, you can immerse yourself in the splendor of each destination. Begin with a leisurely exploration of the lobbies, gift shops, and common areas. Some of the game rooms are epic!

Don’t miss the chance to dine at various resort-specific restaurants and be sure to schedule time for live entertainment, such as outdoor movies, campfires, and musical performances, available at select resorts.

Each resort offers its own magic, so take your time to discover the unique experiences that await beyond the parks.

What You Can’t Do When Resort Hopping

When resort hopping at Disney, it’s important to note the limitations to ensure a seamless experience.

Access to swimming pools and pool areas is exclusively reserved for guests staying at that specific resort, a policy strictly enforced to ensure the comfort and safety of its guests.

Similarly, parking at the resorts is intended for registered guests and those with confirmed dining reservations, so plan to use Disney’s free transportation options to move between resorts.

While resort hopping, you cannot participate in certain activities designed exclusively for staying guests, such as resort-specific fitness classes or certain recreational offerings.

It’s also crucial to respect the privacy and experience of staying guests by adhering to resort rules and etiquette during your visit.

Understanding these boundaries will help maximize your enjoyment of the accessible amenities and experiences while resort hopping.

Magic Kingdom Resorts on the Monorail Loop

The Magic Kingdom resorts on the Monorail Loop include:

  • Disney’s Contemporary Resort
  • Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
  • Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Each offers easy monorail access to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.  Each of these resorts provides its own unique themes and dining experiences.

Contemporary Resort

The California Grill, located at the top of the resort offers delicious cuisine and panoramic views of the Magic Kingdom, especially during the fireworks. The resort’s unique shops offer exclusive Disney merchandise, making it a fantastic spot for finding unique souvenirs.

Lastly, the outdoor viewing areas provide a fantastic vantage point for watching the Electrical Water Pageant on Bay Lake, offering a relaxing end to a day of exploration.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort combines sleek design with classic Disney charm, making it a top spot for resort hoppers looking for iconic sights and experiences.

Polynesian Resort

Disney’s Polynesian Resort is a tropical paradise that transports guests to the South Pacific with its lush landscaping, water features, and themed decor.

When resort hopping here, don’t miss the opportunity to experience the ambiance of the Great Ceremonial House, where the sights and sounds immerse you in island culture.

A must-try is the nachos from Captain Cook’s, the resort’s quick-service cafe. We absolutely loved them for their unique twist on a classic snack, perfectly capturing the Polynesian flavor profile.

Another highlight is watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach of the resort.

The resort also boasts Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, a highly themed bar offering whimsical drinks in an interactive setting.

Grand Floridian

When resort hopping to the Grand Floridian, guests are treated to Victorian elegance, complete with a stunning lobby that houses a grand piano and an orchestra playing classic Disney tunes.

The resort’s dining options are a highlight, ranging from casual cafes to the upscale Victoria & Albert’s, renowned for its exquisite fine dining.

Don’t miss the chance to stroll through the immaculately landscaped grounds or relax in the lobby to enjoy the live music.

For those with a sweet tooth, the afternoon tea at the Garden View Tea Room offers a delightful experience, while the character dining at 1900 Park Fare provides fun for the whole family.

Visiting Disney World soon? Enjoy even more magic with the Disney Park Hopper Option !

Other Magic Kindom Resorts

Beyond the immediate circle of Magic Kingdom resorts connected by the Monorail, are Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

The Wilderness Lodge, inspired by the national park lodges of the Pacific Northwest, offers a majestic escape with its towering lobby and cozy accommodations amidst towering pines and geyser views.

Nearby, Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground provides a more down-to-earth experience with its cabins and campsites, perfect for those looking to blend the magic of Disney with the allure of the great outdoors.

Both resorts offer unique dining experiences, from the homestyle comfort food at Wilderness Lodge’s Whispering Canyon Café to the hearty, outdoor meals at Fort Wilderness’ Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue.

Accessible by boat and bus, these resorts offer a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the parks.

Epcot Area Hotels

The Epcot area hotels offer an immersive experience that extends the magic beyond the parks. These resorts are known for their stunning themes, from the elegance of a seaside resort at the Yacht and Beach Club to the carnival sights and sounds of the BoardWalk Inn.

We particularly enjoyed exploring the various boutiques and eateries along the way, where the atmosphere is lively and the views of Crescent Lake add to the charm.

The Boardwalk makes it easy to hop between several resorts at once, plus you’re right behind Epcot so it’s got the Disney park feel.

Don’t miss the chance to rent a Surrey bike for a fun ride around Crescent Lake!

Boardwalk Inn

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn captures the essence of a 1940s Atlantic coastal village with its charming waterfront and vibrant nightlife.

When resort hopping to the BoardWalk Inn, you’ll find an array of entertainment options, dining experiences, and unique shops.

One of the highlights is taking a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk itself, where you can catch street performers, grab a slice from the BoardWalk Pizza Window, or indulge in a sweet treat from BoardWalk Bakery.

The Atlantic Dance Hall and Jellyrolls, a dueling piano bar, offer lively evening entertainment.

Walking around the resort’s beautifully landscaped grounds offers a sense of escape to the islands, with vibrant architecture and lush greenery.

For those interested in shopping or looking for unique Disney merchandise, the Caribbean Beach Resort’s marketplaces offer a variety of Disney goodies.

When resort hopping here, be sure to explore the larger-than-life icons and memorabilia from different decades, which provide unique photo opportunities. The resort’s themed pools, including the Hippy Dippy Pool, reflect the spirit of the 1960s, ’70s, and ’80s.
