Marina Dalmacija disposes with 1.400 sea moorings and the required number of electricity and water connections and a remarkable number of dry docks on land that makes it the biggest nautical center. Among the other services at your disposal there is also a shop, cafe restaurant, fuel station and a great number of sanitary facilities.

Due to its position in the very center of the Adriatic, Marina Dalmacija is the ideal starting point for your cruise. It is possible to visit many islands and small bays during one day because of their short distance.

Exceptionally beautiful Kornati islands (national park) with more than a hundred islands, still untouched nature, will be the right place for your relaxation.

MARINA DALMACIJA

Marina Dalmacija is located along the main coastal road, also known as Adriatic highway, about 9km SE of Zadar. Marina Dalmacija is artificially constructed and where now the greater part of the coast and the peninsula is, 25 years ago there was sea. It is the largest marina in Croatia and on the east coast of the Adriatic Sea. The marina is very impressive as a product of a human.

Along the coast there are plenty of parking spaces, nevertheless the Marina Dalmacija offers a lot of open parking spaces (charged per day/week!) and payable garage spaces.

The marina has several shops, restraurants and cafes, enough toilet facilities, a front desk and general store, as well as a gas station.

Marina Dalmacija is located between Bibinje and Sukošan, with only a few additional external supply services. Major shopping centers are located about   6 km away, on the outskirts of Zadar.

Along the coast, at this part of the Adriatic Sea, three island chains are stretching. To the nearest, Ugljan and Pašman, are only a few miles, and the Kornati islands are 11 miles away. It is important to note that through the Ždrelac channel between the islands Ugljan and Pašman, sailboat navigation is possible only for sailing yachts with up to 16,5m mast height above the water level. Sail boats able to pass the channel are yachts about 12m long.

Yacht charter base Sukošan represents an excellent starting point for cruises in an island rich part of the Adriatic Sea, as to the SE and NW.

SUKOŠAN - near Zadar (10 km), 5 National Parks and 2 Nature Parks, the largest marina on the Adriatic coast, proximity to airport and highway connections are certainly good reasons to choose Sukošan for your charter base.

In the wide Zlatna uvala bay, on a small cape, a medieval town Sukošan was formed. Today the town extends along the entire large bay, and its ancient part is now in the very centre of the developed tourist resort.

It was named after St. Kasijan, whose name the parish church carries. The church was built in the Middle Ages. The archbishop of Zadar Matheo Valaresso has built his mansion in the peaceful landscape of the Sukošan bay on an artificially made islet. This palace was the most significant example of country house architecture in the 15 th century. The square "Upper door" is particularly vivid with renovated old villas converted into charming restaurants and a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The city comprises of traditional narrow streets and natural promenades. It’s a place of vineyards, olive groves, lush vegetation and friendly hosts.

Coastline and many bays, sandy beaches and clear sea are suitable for a family vacation. During the summer months various exhibitions are taking place, as well as concerts and theatre performances. Fishermen Nights, with fish, Dalmatian wine and songs are held every Thursday.

Dugi Otok is the biggest island in the north-dalmatian archipelago. The pride of this island is the lighthouse on the northwest side of the island. Here is also the nature park Telascika in the southeastern part of the island.

Telascica Nature Park is characterised by three phenomena. One is Telascica Bay, the other is the long island slope “Stene” and the third is Salty Lake “Mir” .

Located 10 kilometers south-east of Zadar is the small town of Sukosan. Known for its agriculture vine and olive growing, Sukosan is also very attractive to tourists. Interesting places to visit include: the Church of St. Kasijan (baroque architecture), diocese house “Palac” located on an artificial island, and the Church of “Our Lady of Grace” . There are many beaches ( Djecji, and Makarska ) and coves to go to during the day, as well as nice restaurants with local specialties. In northern Dalmatia on the Adriatic coast, the Mediterranean sailing center of Sukosan is one of the best places to launch a perfect sailing vacation in Croatia. Here we make some suggestions as to destinations for you to explore - high points you shouldn't miss. These should all be accessible on your sailboat charter , catamaran charter , luxury yacht charter or motorboat charter without spending too much time at sea!

7 days: Heading south-east down the Adriatic Coast you should aim at the Croatian coastal towns of Vodice or Sibenik as your far point of the trip. Vodice is a romantic old town with a good marina, while Sibenik with its Cathedral of St James is just as enchanting and can be a stop for you to explore Krka National Park. From there consider heading across the channel to the island of Murter, the stunning Kornati Island archipelago, and then the beach resort of Biograd. Don't forget the Zadar Archipelago - a short hop across the sea from Sukosan.

14 days: On a 14 day sailing vacation you could reach the historic town of Trogir and even Split without spending too much time afloat every day. You can take in the famous beach resort of Hvar before returning via the Kornati Islandnational park. Do try to get up the river to the Krka National Park near Skradin - arguably Croatia's best inland national park with its waterfalls and gorges. As far to the north as Split is to the south from Sukosan, the island of Krk is the largest island of Croatia and is worthy of a longer visit should you have time.

The sailing season runs from late April to October with July and August being the busiest months for taking out a charter boat or gulet. The ACI Marina chain also adds 20% to their berthing fees at this time of year. The climate is mild most of the sailing season with occasional rain showers.

Discovering the Kornati Islands

The Kornati archipelago stretches along the northern Dalmatian coastline between the cities of Zadar and Šibenik . The archipelago surrounds about 150 islands, making up almost 12% of all the islands in Croatia . A total of 89 of these islands are protected and form the Kornati Nature Park. From Sukošan, the Kornati islands, the natural paradise of northern Dalmatia , are right at your doorstep. Just a short drive and you are in the middle of the island paradise of the northern Kornati islands. Discover the island of Žut , the second largest of the islands. It is used for agriculture, especially olive and fig trees, and shepherds herd their animals over the island, which is otherwise covered by the typical macchia. The coastline of the island is characterized by many bays, in which often a lonely anchorage can be found. There is also a marina in the northeast of the island. The island of Dugi Otok is considered one of the most beautiful islands of the Croatian Adriatic . The southeast of the island has been placed under special protection with the Telašćica Nature Park. Discover the particularly diverse Mediterranean flora and fauna here and the salt lake Mir on a hike across the island, or anchor in the bay Telašćica and relax at the sight of the surrounding, green rocky coast. Another highlight is the small island Ilovik . Located directly south of the island of Losinj with our base Mali Losinj , the island rightfully bears the nickname "the island of flowers". It already belongs to the islands of the Losinj Bay and therefore no longer to Dalmatia. On the southeastern part of the island is the bay Parzine. The sandy beach here stretches for kilometers and is perfect for a family vacation. The children can prove their skills in building sandcastles and the parents just enjoy the sun, the beach and the view of the sea.

Those seeking peace and quiet will find a true idyll on the island of Silba . There is only one inhabited place here. Even though the island only covers a total area of 15 km2 , there is still enough space for a hike to feel like the only people present. The small island of Sestrunj attracts visitors with its authentic Croatian way of life. With its typical Dalmatian stone houses and the serenity of its inhabitants, the island, which has hardly been developed for tourism, is an ideal place to spend some peaceful hours. In the village of the same name on the island, the "Sestrunja noc" is celebrated once a year, usually at the end of July. Here the whole village gathers on the village square and there is dancing to the music of a live band and celebrating life.

Only separated from the mainland and the city of Zadar by the Pasman Channel is the island of Uglijan . Divers will surely know this island. The coasts of the island are famous for their diving spots with steep walls, caves and underwater crevices. Due to the fact that there are only gravel and rocky beaches on the island, the visibility is excellent. There is also a diving center on Uglijan, which interested people can contact. The island is connected with the neighboring island of Pasman by a bridge. On Pasman a visit to the Franciscan monastery "Sveti Dujme" in Kraj from the 14th century is worthwhile especially because of the attached museum for an afternoon visit. Not only monastery and church history is made clear here with exhibits, but also the history of the island itself is told. The Benedictine monastery "Sv. Kuzme i Damjana" on the hill Cokovak near the village of Tkon dates back to the 11th century with its original building. In the meantime it was abandoned, but since 1965 monks live here again and so today it represents the only active Benedictine monastery in Croatia.

The south of the Kornati islands to Šibenik

The Kornati islands are known and loved by sailors, nature lovers and divers alike for their limestone formations, countless bays and crystal clear waters. Set off on your yacht charter Sukošan on your personal adventure through the southern of the Kornati Islands. The car-free island of Zlarin offers a special setting for relaxed breathing. From the highest point of the island, from the hill Klepac, you have a great view of the island and the surrounding sea.

The island of Žirje , the southernmost of the Kornati islands, was used as a guard post as early as the 6th century due to its external location. However, little remains of these defensive fortifications. Today the island is mainly used for agriculture and is only sparsely populated. It is also hardly developed for tourism, but there are beautiful bays with pebble and rocky beaches, in some of them, especially on the west side of the island, there are also small konobas and restaurants.

The largest of the Kornati islands, Kornati, has many smaller islands to the west. Many of them are uninhabited, but on the island of Piškera there is a small marina and also konobas can be found in some bays. Discover the many small bays and look forward to undisturbed bathing days.

If you are more in the mood for the city, Šibenik is a very worthwhile destination. The city is located in a fjord-like bay on the Croatian mainland and can be reached via the Sveti Ante channel. It is one of the largest cities in Dalmatia and has several highlights to offer. For example, the Venetian fortress, which has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2017, or the Cathedral of St. James, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Further south, the Croatian coast offers other interesting places such as Primosten with its picturesque old town or Rogoznica with the famous Dragon's Eye Lake. A worthwhile excursion from Šibenik are the Krka waterfalls, located just under 20 kilometers inland from Šibenik in the Krka National Park . You can go as far as Skradin by yacht and visit the national park from there, as it is not possible to go there by boat. A total of 7 of the 8 waterfalls of the river Krka are located on the territory of the national park. Several caves are also found in the national park, such as the Oziđana cave, where findings prove that it was used as early as 6000 BC.

The entire Croatian Adriatic has fantastic areas to offer for sailing vacationers. Whether Istria, the Kvarner Bay, North, Central or South Dalmatia - in all areas you will find worthwhile destinations through a variety of historical sites, beautiful bays and island groups.
