84001 - Soling 1 Meter Sailboat Kit

The Soling 1 Meter kit is a radio-controlled version of the famous Soling racing yacht. The American Model Yachting Association has designated this model kit as a "One Design Class" radio controlled racing sailboat. It is presently one of the most popular classes in www.amya.org and has the largest number of registered models within the AMYA racing class system. Control is accomplished using a simple, two-channel radio transmitting on ground frequencies of 27 or 75 MHz. The two control functions control the rudder and set of sails. Stability has been designed into this boat so that even the beginner can enjoy the thrill of R/C sailing from the start. This model fits inside most compact station wagons fully rigged. If required, the mast can be easily removed for transportation, and quickly re-installed at lakeside with no re-adjustments necessary. The keel and rudder are also removable for storage. Mast rake, sail tension and shape are fully adjustable for maximum performance in any wind condition. No special tools are required for assembly. Product description.

The Eclipse 1M is the ideal way to experience the pleasure of sailing on a gentle Summer's breeze, or the excitement of racing your own America's Cup racing yacht. The large one meter (39") hull is precision blow-molded from high-strength ABS and features durable, reinforced rip-stop nylon sails that arrive pre-printed with bright, attractive graphics. Easy to assemble, the Eclipse 1M arrives with most of the difficult and time consuming rigging already completed, making final assembly quick and convenient. A sealed, water-resistant deck hatch protects internal electronic components such as the "drum-style" sail winch servo which delivers additional power and smoother, more scale-like functionality than regular servos. Perhaps the most impressive feature of this sailboat is the size - measuring over 7' (213cm) tall from the bottom of the ballast bulb to the tip of the mast. The Eclipse 1M is an RTR boat, and arrives with everything required to start sailing except for the AA batteries. In addition to the pre-trimmed and decorated hull, inside you'll find a 2.4GHz radio system, rip-stop nylon sails and all the rigging parts necessary to easily build the mast. It also includes a lightweight boat stand for display and maintenance. Best of all, the Eclipse is quickly and easily dismantled for storage and transportation.

While initially home built hulls from wood were common, over the years the class has evolved to the use of high tech materials with mainly carbon fiber hulls now being the norm. Kits, or complete boats can occasionally be found from one of a very few suppliers. Used boats which are still very competitive are available and may be your best best to enter this class.

The One Meter yacht is light weight ( 6lbs +/-), very fast and responsive to the controls. It is a fun boat to sail. An inexpensive two channel radio is required for control of sails and rudder. The boat is easily disassembled and fits in a small size automobile, for transporting to the pond or lake.

This class has been overtaken in popularity over the years with participation regularly seen only in Ontario, principally Windsor and Toronto. Please advise if I have missed other active fleets. US One-Meter Venom Sailboat

Tippecanoe Boats is proud to have taken over the production of the incredibly fast and agile US One Meter Venom racing sailboat. This design has an illustrious history; between 1994 and 2000, the Venom, as produced by Bob Sterne (Bob’s Boatyard), won six out of seven of the U.S. One Meter Class Championships (as impressively, the winning Venoms were skippered by five different skippers during that time).

Tippecanoe Boats is continuing with Bob Sterne’s design and is proud to announce the re-introduction of the Venom sailboat to our line of fast and high-quality RC sailboats.

Through extensive testing, we have designed a layered carbon fiber and kevlar hull that is infused with a vinylester resin. The result is a hull that is even stronger and stiffer while still remaining incredibly light, fast, and otherwise identical to its kevlar-only predecessor.

At this time, we are excited to be selling two crucial components of the Venom: the lead keel bulbs and the bare hull. As soon as possible, we will be adding additional parts, and, eventually, an entire Venom kit. Please stay tuned as we integrate the Venom into our line of high-quality RC sailboats!

About SOLING 1 METER

The Soling Class is the largest class affiliated with the American Model Yachting Association (AMYA). It is a one-design class. The One Meter was designed to be a low-cost, kit-based one-designed class primarily targeted at the beginning Radio-Controlled (R/C) sailor. It is often the local class that beginning sailors start with and yet it is challenging enough that most advanced racers still race their Soling. The hull, deck, keel, and rudder are made from vacuum formed polystyrene plastic. Only flat single-paneled sails are approved by the Soling Class. Only two channels are used to control the boat. One channel for both sails and the other channel for the rudder. Transmitter may have additional channels but they are not allow to be used in sanctioned races.
