For Sale: Farrier Trimaran – F9A - F9AX - F9R Construction Plans. I can update these to the Current F-32 plans. OPTION A: $1,000 US for current set of construction plans and authorization to build 1 F9A - F9AX - F9R hull from plans. OPTION B: $1,800 US for plans for the New F-32 update/replacement. Please contact me for specifics as original F-9A plans must be returned to Ian in order to recieve updated plans In either case, this is for plans and authorization to build 1 (one) hull only.

The ultimate ocean-going performance trimaran from the board of much-revered multihull expert Iain Farrier.

Described by Farrier as a true ocean-going cruiser the Farrier F-36 was the flag ship of the farrier design stable. The ocean going, cruising multihull is capable of being demounted for road transportation providing huge versatility for an ocean capable boat. The Farrier F-36 with its highly efficient fractional rig is easily handled by a small crew from the cockpit in even the most arduous conditions.

An aft cabin version of the Farrier F-36 ‘HEI MATAU’ has proven to be to be the ideal ocean cruiser with her current owner having crossed the Atlantic several times along with multiple cruises to Scandinavia. Offering spacious below decks accommodation she has a maximum of 7 berths with a large heads compartment included a dedicated full standing head height shower stall. Benefitting from re-fits in 2007 and 2016/17 her comprehensive inventory includes: • Post construction assessment completed in the UK, fully certified for the requirements of the EC Recreational Craft Directive. • FRP constructed hull and floats, constructed as one piece with integrated deck constructed in epoxy laminate foam sandwich construction. • Retractable dagger board, timber framed epoxy laminate sheathed • Hinged spade rudder, timber framed epoxy laminate sheathed • Yanmar 3YM30AE, 29hp @ 3,200rpm. DESIGNER’S BACKGROUND:

Ian Farrier first started sailing multihulls virtually by accident. As a twenty year old New Zealand engineering student and monohull sailor, looking for a keelboat to do some offshore cruising he couldn’t find anything suitable. After searching an unfinished 30’ trimaran project was purchased, following a comprehensive two year rebuild it was launched in 1969. Although not the perfect boat is sowed the seed for his future career.

In 1972 he arrived in Brisbane, Australia, where the growing popularity of the monohull trailer sailer was noted while crewing on a local trimaran. A trailerable trimaran appeared to have many advantages over trailerable monohulls, so he decided to look at what could be done. The Farrier Folding System™ was then invented, patented, and the prototype Trailertri 18 was built and launched in 1974. It worked beautifully and he then built five more Trailertris of various sizes, while trying out many different configurations. Over this period the folding trailerable trimaran slowly began to establish itself as a practical and exciting option, to eventually become one of the fastest growing segments of sailing.

In 1984 Ian and his family moved to Chula Vista (San Diego), where financial backing had been found to set up Corsair Marine. He then designed the F-27, built the prototype, and developed and established Corsair’s full production system and quality controls. With 100 boats being produced every year, and an excellent reputation established, it was time to concentrate on new designs, so he resigned from Corsair in 1991, and moved to Bellevue (Seattle). Corsair was subsequently licensed to build the F-24, F-28 and F-31 designs, in a productive ongoing relationship, though rocky at times, with varying ownership/management at Corsair.

F-39 trimaran design by ian farrier.

The Farrier F-39 trimaran, a further development of the Farrier F-36 trimaran, is a large ocean going sport cruiser, with the now third generation Farrier Folding System™ incorporated. This gives tremendous versatility for an ocean capable boat. Folded beam is 15' (4.57m) and is thus small enough to access most inland waterways and locks.

The fractional rig is efficient and easy to handle in all conditions, and the boat can be sailed to its full potential with a minimum of sails. The jib will be self tacking and the screacher, set from the bow pole, eliminates the traditional genoa and multiple sail changes, making sail handling a breeze. It's even more ideal for cruising.

The daggerboard is centered in the main hull, while the new designed transom hung daggerboard style 'kick-up' rudder is housed in its own composite case. The self-draining center cockpit with wheel steering can seat six. The 30HP Yanmar inboard engine is located in an accessible area under the cockpit. Maneuverability is excellent under power, due to the trimaran's superior turning ability, its center hull and daggerboard being natural pivots.

Interior will accommodate eight, with standing headroom throughout. Galley is to port, and a chart table is on the starboard side, along with a wet locker. Dinette will seat five, and can be converted into a large double bunk. Starboard settee is wide and comfortable, and can be converted into top and bottom bunks. Forward, there is a private bathroom with head, washbasin, and a separate shower. Forward cabin has a double berth, with seating room aft, and large storage areas underneath. The aft cabin has a double berth with full sitting headroom. Access is through a hatch in the aft cabin front, or through under the cockpit.

After obtaining the F-36 plans Ian Farrier updated this design to the F-39. So finally, it is this combination of the best aspects of the F-25C, F-31, F-31R, and F-36, coupled with many improvements from F-36 owner feedback, that I am building. A number of other new features to incorporate in the F-39 are now being tested on the also new F-33. I think these new designs are the next generation Farrier tri's, with the addition of the newest materials and visions, among other things influenced by the recent successes of the big multihull races.

While the F-36 is provide with a fixed beam, but demountable for occasional transporting, for me the most important modification to the F-39 is the addition of the Farrier Folding System for marina docking, or canal traversing. Other new features:

F-39 compared to F-36 :

Using the vertical foam stripping building method the numbers of formframes are reduced (by 4);  The cabin roof is lifted 40 mm. making it possible to lift cabin floor also 40mm for more width and better storage underneath;  Floats (15% larger) and main hull are extended at bow and stern, making the overall length 39'4" (12 m.);  A redesigned and simpler 'third generation' Farrier Folding System™. This has been specifically optimized for serious ocean going, with a more integrated structural support system. The beam recesses (notches) in the center hull deck are now gone, for a cleaner and safer deck, while also eliminating any interior intrusion. Virtually all metal brackets, and the numerous large bolts required have also been eliminated, saving significant weight and complexity; Floats will fold in more vertical to eliminate the need for any anti-fouling high on the float side;  Floats incorporate a shaped deck that comes up to form a flat raised area for mounting the outboard edge of the wingnets. This eliminates any fore and aft aluminum tube for this purpose. When folded, the side of this raised area also forms a flat walkway on the float inner edge along the cabin side; Carbon fiber folding struts are set higher and further away from wave tops and have much less frontal area which is combined with sleek faired leading edges for minimal drag and spray generation; Beam outer ends tapered off slightly more (thinner vertically) and sweeping slightly higher, and are slightly longer to give a little more overall beam; Carbon fiber 'molded in' mounting points (replacing Bracket Plates) for the Beam Struts, to considerably reduce weight and frontal area;  Taller rotating carbon rig; Synthetic rigging - now considered more reliable than wire, while being much lighter; Carbon fiber chainplates in float and bow; Main hull bow is now slightly more vertical; A bow wing, providing additional bow side netting area and a storage place for the anchor; A fully retractable carbon bow pole; Transom hung daggerboard style 'kick-up' rudder with composite case. What’s What?

Trailertri 18, 680, 720 & Command 10 : These were the original Farrier plywood designs for home builders which started it all in Australia from 1973. Plans are now outdated and no longer available, and plywood construction has proved to be just too slow compared to modern strip planked cedar or foam boats. Ply boats also tend to be more expensive overall due to the much lower resale value than that possible for more modern construction methods/materials. Links to more details on these older designs are below.

F-22: The latest Farrier entry level design, and destined to become a full production boat

F-24: Developed at Corsair Marine in 1991 from original drawings by Ian Farrier, but redesigned by Corsair management at that time. Restored back to original Farrier specifications in 1994 as the F-24 Mk II, whereupon it won ‘Sailing World’ magazine’s 1996 Performance Multihull of the Year award.

F-25A : An earlier design for amateur builders, and now replaced by the F-82A & F-82R.

F-25C : A high performance carbon/epoxy kit boat, but now discontinued – details

F-82 : The F-82A and F-82R now replace the F-25A and F-25C, with many improvements and all the latest features incorporated. The F-82R can be built in all carbon epoxy, the same as the F-25C, and it will be faster.

F-9A : A design for home builders developed in 1991, and used as the basis for the production F-31. The F-9A has been very successful with now over 300 building or sailing. These plans have been continually updated ito include all the latest developments, including larger Mk II floats and the F-33 style daggerboard rudder with composite gudgeons.

F-31 : Developed from the F-9A and a very successful production design. All rights were sold to Corsair Marine in 2000, with the Farrier-Corsair separation, and it has now been renamed the Corsair 31 due to design changes by Corsair. The F-31 as such is thus no longer available

F-9AX : Same as the F-9A but with a 15% wider center hull for more room and a 16% higher load capacity. Trailering beam also increases to 2.9m (9′ 6″).

F-9R : A new ultra high performance version of the F-9A with a rotating mast. The home builders equivalent to the F-31R

F-32 : The home builders version of the F-33, and now replacing the F-9 design series

F-32SR : The full race version of the F-32

F-33 : A production design intended to be a maxi trailerable sport cruiser, while still being manageable single-handed – more details

F-36 : A true ocean going cruiser, and demountable for transporting on a trailer (but not folding), and now being joined by the F-39.

F-39 : Another new design that folds for marina docking – based on the F-36 – available only to experienced builders

F-41 : A new ocean going catamaran design for amateur builders.

F-44R : A very high performance version of the F-41

The Tramp : The first production Farrier design (19′ 6″ long), originally built by Haines Hunter in Australia in 1980. An open cockpit day sailer, it was also built in the US for a while where it was known as the ‘Eagle’. Now discontinued but sometimes available on the used boat market. More details below.

F-27 : The second production Farrier design (450 built) and then superseded by the F-28.

Choosing the neighborhood of your future residence is a task to be treated with diligence. Poor transport accessibility, a lacking infrastructure and unsatisfactory ecological parameters may noticeably dampen the joy a new property owner is sure to feel from their purchase. To help you avoid such a scenario, we have put together a short overview of the areas in Moscow where you may be considering the purchase of a home , complete with the pros and cons of each of the different locations:

Arbat District – the cultural and business center of Moscow. One of the most prestigious locations in the capital. It boasts a very good infrastructure and high transport accessibility. Unsurprisingly, the property costs here are the highest in Moscow. Despite its small size, the district contains around 10% of all of the capital’s new elite residential buildings, and apartments for sale make up 96% of the properties on the market in this neighborhood. The price of a square meter (3.28 sqft) for an apartment in a new building with penthouses is, on average, 12 000 USD, while the cost of the same in an old building is 9 000 USD. One can even find luxury condos with open terraces for sale in the area.

Kuntsevo District – a beautiful locality surrounded by vast areas of woodland and river beaches on the banks of Moskva River. A strong point of this neighborhood is its good environmental conditions. Brand new and modern residential compounds have been erected here. One square meter (3.28 sqft) of an apartment in a new housing complex in Kuntsevo District currently costs 3 000 USD.

Yakimanka District – one of the most interesting and prestigious areas of Moscow by popular opinion. It is packed full of well-known historic monuments, museums and large parks. The Yakimanka District changed drastically during the Soviet era: most of the centuries-old low-rise houses and mansions were completely demolished or restructured. By the beginning of the 1990’s, new residential and public complexes had already taken their place. Today, one can find condos for sale in Yakimanka’s new residential complexes for the average price of 11 000 USD per square meter (3.28 sqft). The price of a square meter in a Soviet era panel building is 4 000 USD.

Here in Russia’s capital we have our own skyscrapers – grouped together in the compound famously dubbed Moscow-City (the Moscow International Business Center). Many large corporations have their headquarters here. For 1 million US dollars you can purchase a 3-room apartment with a floor area of 607 sqft (185 m²) in one of the towers. This particular listing is located on the 25 th floor.
