Designed by naval architect Espen Øino, Titania is geared toward indoor-outdoor living. The light and airy interior is fit for, well, royalty, with ample space for entertaining and relaxing. The yacht can sleep up to 12 guests across seven cabins, including not one but two breathtaking owner’s suites, a VIP cabin, and four doubles. Each room comes with a beautifully appointed marble bathroom and the latest entertainment systems for those Netflix binge sessions.

As you might expect, Titania is also full to the brim with glitzy amenities, such as a beach club, a pool, a sauna, a massage room with an onboard masseuse, a beauty salon with a beautician, a gym with a personal trainer, a Jacuzzi with a swim-up bar, and a skylounge with a drop-down cinema. Classic superyacht Christina O to star in Netflix’s The Crown

The fifth season of hit Netflix TV show The Crown will see a fleet of superyachts appear on screen, with Christina O the latest to join the cast alongside 73 metre Titania and former Royal Yacht Britannia .

Formerly owned by Greek tycoon Aristotle Onassis, the classic 99.15 metre Christina O was first delivered in 1943 before Onassis refurbished her in a $4 million refit under his ownership in the 1950s.

During her lifetime, Christina O served in the Second World War and welcomed aboard a star-studded group of guests including Winston Churchill, the Kennedys, Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra and Rudolf Nureyev.

For the latest season of The Crown , which depicts the lives of the British royal family during the 1990s, actors Elizabeth Debicki and Domonic West have been working on board Christina O to portray a yachting holiday taken by Princess Diana and Prince Charles in 1991.

The classic superyacht is reportedly playing the part of a 121.95 metre superyacht named Alexander . Delivered in 1965 by German shipyard Lubecker Flender Werke , the superyacht hosted the royals and their sons princes William and Harry a year before the couple separated.

The third largest classic yacht in the world , Alexander boasts an interior volume of 5,933 GT and accommodations for up to 54 guests and 60 crew. Highlights on board include a private cinema, a number of al fresco lounge and dining areas, a dual swimming pool and jacuzzi with panoramic views out to sea, a formal dining room and a certified heli-pad.

Powered by twin MAN diesel engines that produce a total 16,100 HP, Alexander can reach a top speed of 18.5 knots and offers a range of 4,100 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 16 knots.

Alexander has historically spent time cruising the Greek Islands and the Red Sea, but when Princess Diana and Prince Charles were on board they spent their time sailing around Italy. Filming, however, is currently taking place in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

Although the exterior of the two yachts is distinctly different, Christina O has classic elements and opulent interiors similar to Alexander , which will likely feature in scenes of the upcoming series due to premiere in November 2022.

For those keen to sample the same experience as the royals, Christina O is available for charter with Morley Yachts with a weekly charter rate starting from €630,000.

Those watching the sixth and final season of Netflix’s The Crown are familiar with scenes featuring the late Princess Diana (played by Elizabeth Debicki this season) and her boyfriend Dodi Al-Fayed (played by Khalid Abdalla) onboard the Al-Fayed family’s extremely luxurious yacht.

If it’s got you dreaming of sitting on the end of a diving board above the Mediterranean Sea in a turquoise bathing suit, well, we have good news for you: You can charter the yacht for a cool $615,000 per week during the off-season.

There may have been some tense moments between Diana and Dodi on the yacht, but that doesn’t take away from its splendor.

The 239-foot super-yacht featured in the show this season is called Titania and it’s listed for charter with luxury boat charter company Burgess , which refers to itself as the “go-to yacht brokerage for television and film.” According to Burgess, Titania was used as a stand-in for Mohamed Al-Fayed’s Codecasa super-yacht Bash (then named Jonikal ). The yacht famously hosted the princess, her two sons William and Harry (played by Rufus Kampa and Fflyn Edwards), and her boyfriend Dodi Al-Fayed on a trip to St. Tropez in 1997, a week before she and Dodi died in Paris. Their time on the yacht, and some of the iconic paparazzi photos of it, are recreated in part one of season six.

While some of the decor was designed to align more with the 1990s time frame of the show, the Titania super-yacht still exudes the same opulence.

“When it came to scenes of Diana and Dodi on the yacht, they did indeed film those moments on a boat on the Mediterranean,” writes Lucy Ford in an article for Netflix’s companion website for fans, Tudum. She quotes Debicki as saying, “It was a very big, fancy boat. It was enormous and kind of outrageous and exactly what the story needed. That was pretty extraordinary, to be on a big boat like that with bedrooms the size of people’s apartments. We never really took that for granted.”

Production designer Martin Childs told Tudum, “The whole schedule was based around the availability of the biggest yacht.”

The Titania , which is that biggest yacht, was built by luxury yacht company Lürssen in 2006 and has undergone two major makeovers since then. It was originally designed by naval architect Espen Øino, and boasts a light and airy interior with dark wood trim and blue and white textiles, as well as plenty of large windows and outdoor space. The yacht has seven cabins, including two owner’s suites, and sleeps up to 12 guests. Each cabin has a spacious en suite marble bathroom.

And while the Titania is a contemporary vessel, with modern furnishings and finishes, according to Tudum, the team had to “’90s-ify” the yacht’s interiors for filming. This involved adding “bulky lamps, varnished teak wood, and particular shades of turquoise and cream,” reports Ford. “The yacht obviously exists as a contemporary yacht,” Alison Harvey, the Crown’s head set decorator told Tudum. “We just had to bring in more ’90s fabric and more ’90s-flavor pictures and paintings and make it a little less on point in terms of proper super-yacht decor today.”

Among the many showstoppers onboard the Titania is a pool with a swim-up bar with ocean views.

The Titania includes a sea-level beach club, a pool and Jacuzzi with a swim-up bar, a sauna, a state-of-the-art fitness center with a personal trainer, a massage room with an onboard masseuse, a beauty salon with a beautician, and a sky lounge with a drop-down cinema. A 21-person crew attends to guests’ every need.

Also included in the weekly charter, which ranges from $615,000 to $715,000 per week, are two boat tenders, two Jet Skis, two sailing dinghies, two Seabobs, two stand-up paddleboards, two kayaks, an e-Foil, surfboards, snorkeling and diving gear, water skis, and inflatable aquatic slides and jumping pads.

The Crown Superyacht ‘TITANIA’ To Star In Iconic Diana Scene

As the acclaimed Netflix drama The Crown currently films its fifth and penultimate season , whispers courtesy of BOAT International have confirmed that the 73-metre superyacht TITANIA is taking centre stage in an iconic role for the television series.

The Lürssen vessel, which was delivered in 2006, will reportedly play the part of an Italian Codecasa yacht formerly known as JONIKAL (now BASH ), once owned by Egyptian businessman Mohamed Al-Fayed.

The Crown’s fifth season will provide a fictional twist on the real-life affairs of the British royal family as the institution evolves towards the turn of the century. Diana’s death is slated to be the climax of this season, prior to the sixth and final season of the series that will follow.

Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki ( The Great Gatsby, The Night Manager, Tenet )  will be introduced as Lady Diana Spencer  as the timeline enters the 1990s, taking the reigns from Emma Corrin in season four. Iconic scenes such as the one below will likely be filmed aboard the yacht TITANIA , which is actually 10 metres greater in length than JONIKAL .

When not being used as a royal stand-in, the yacht is managed by Burgess with a weekly charter rate starting from €660,000.

The Crown Season 6 Filming Locations: Parts 1 and 2 In Detail

Look out for new locations in Season 6, joining well-established filming locations used for Balmoral, Bois de Boulogne and Highgrove. The final season of The Crown includes scenes of Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) and Dodi Al Fayed (Khalid Abdalla) at Castel St Therese in St Tropez and the Ritz Paris, in scenes filmed in Mallorca, Paris and London.

Flashing forward to the 2000s, Prince William (Ed McVey) and Kate Middleton (Meg Bellamy) were spotted on location around St Andrews for The Crown Season 6’s university scenes. Meanwhile, Winchester locals noted filming in progress in College Street in February 2023 , while BBC South caught the cast in full costume at Winchester Cathedral.

Where Was the Crown Season 6 Filmed?

The Crown Season 6 was filmed at Andratx in Mallorca, Barcelona, the Titania superyacht, Ardverikie, Knebworth and North Mymms Park near London, Wadhurst Castle, Wellington College, Dartmouth House in London, Peterborough, Winchester Cathedral, Queen Victoria Square in Hull, Molly Malones and St Andrews Harbour in Fife, Halton House and West Wycombe Park in Buckinghamshire, and more.

Drawing to the end of the series, and closer to the present day, was always going to be complicated. Aside from handling recent events with care, location shoots had to be put on hold for the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The Crown’s creator, Peter Morgan, shared that Season 6 filming was paused in September 2023 for the Queen’s funeral.

Season 6 itself covers a sombre era for the royal family. Princess Diana’s death forms part of the series as it arrives in the late 1990s, with shots of the late Princess of Wales’s last moments being filmed in London and Paris during 2022. Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, the show’s producers were quick to offer reassurance.

“The show might be big and noisy, but we’re not. We’re thoughtful people and we’re sensitive people. There were very careful, long conversations about how we were going to do it.” Suzanne Mackie, Executive Producer

20 Filming Locations from The Crown Season 6

The Chequers filming location is an events venue that can host up to 400 guests, with its own accommodation onsite . It dates back to the 16th Century.

While North Mymms Park is in Hertfordshire, the real Chequers is located in Buckinghamshire. But The Crown location makes a convincing substitute, sharing a similar appearance. North Mymms Park dates back to 1576 , while Chequers was designed by William Hawtrey in 1565.

The property was linked to Queen Elizabeth I, who used the mansion to imprison the younger sister of her rival, Lady Jane Grey. Since then, successive owners have put their own stamp on the property including a neo-Gothic makeover and later restoration to its Tudor grandeur.

After carrying out their own works, the final private owners, the Lees, granted the house to the nation. Chequers has been the Prime Minister’s official residence since 1921, after a turn as a convalescent home during World War I. And it has been much appreciated by residents from every political party over the past century.

Gulf of St Tropez

Mallorca’s Puerto Andratx, Palma, Formentor, San Telmo and Soller are The Crown Season 6’s St Tropez locations. In the S as Diana, William and Harry stay with the Al Fayeds. Locals were hired as extras for the shoot, and the cast and crew were spotted filming around the coastline and on the water .

The real Al Fayed yacht, Jonikal, is still sailing but a comparable superyacht was used for the scenes.

Mohamed Al Fayed’s St Tropez Villa

Mohamed Al Fayed’s (Salim Daw) St Tropez villa location in The Crown Season 6 is the Yellow Castle or Villa Castillo at Puerto de Andratx. In Season 6 Episode 1, ‘Persona Non Grata’, Dodi (Khalid Abdalla) and Princess Diana meet for the first time at Castle of St Theresa in St Tropez. It appears before and after the yacht scenes, and is located in the same area where they were filmed.

The Yellow Castle is perched on the rocks of Andratx, Mallorca. As shown in the Princess Diana scenes, the luxury property features steps that meander up the cliff, and an outdoor swimming pool overlooking the port.

The Crown’s Castle of St Theresa filming location is available to rent, though you will need a generous budget. Yellow Castle’s 6-bedroom luxury accommodation is just part of the attraction, with the price including the private use of the peninsula and yacht moorings .

Castel St Therese, or Castle of St Theresa, where Princess Diana, William and Harry stayed in 1997, was owned by Mohamed Al Fayed for decades. He eventually listed the St Tropez mansion for sale in 2015. It was linked to a £70 million asking price, but the buyer’s identity remains private .

Of course, its history goes back far further. Castel St Therese was built in 1853 by Vicomte Ferdinand de Lesseps, an engineer who is best known for constructing the Suez Canal.

The Al Fayeds’ Jonikal Yacht

Dodi Al Fayed’s Jonikal yacht in The Crown Season 6 is the Titania superyacht. According to Yacht Carter Fleet , The Crown’s superyacht is one of the most high-end yachts sailing today, and costs $735 000 a week to charter.

The real yacht that Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed were photographed on was called Jonikal. The yacht was commissioned by Mohamed Al Fayed himself, and was completed in 1990. Jonikal is still sailing, though it has changed hands and been refitted several times since the 1997 St Tropez trip .

After being renamed to Sokar and Bash, the 63.8m yacht currently sails as Isabell Princess of the Sea .

Al Fayed Offices

Though it’s used for scenes relating to Mohamed Al Fayed’s business interests, this complex is better known for its scientific connections. As well as office spaces, it’s one of the leading science hubs in Europe, with world-class laboratories.

This location is also set to appear in Netflix’s sci-fi adaptation, 3 Body Problem, due to be released in 2024 .

Somerley House is in Ringwood, Hampshire, close to the Dorset border. Designed by Samuel Wyatt in the late 18th Century, this Highgrove filming location has been the family home of the Earl and Countess of Normanton for generations. Since successive residents have collected works of art, Somerley is home to a dazzling collection of art, including pieces from Versailles.

The Highgrove birthday party scene was filmed around the terrace and gardens, so we see more of the exterior. And of course, Camilla’s celebration dinner with Charles, Major Bowles and Princess Margaret takes place in a marquee. This Crown location is also a wedding venue, so you can hold your own celebration in the same spot , if you choose.

Princess Diana’s landmine charity scene was filmed near Barcelona. The Crown Season 6’s Bosnian scenes were under way in September 2022, and were paused for the Queen’s funeral.

Elizabeth Debicki was photographed during the shoot , wearing a replica of the outfit the late Princess of Wales wore for the much-documented moment. Meanwhile, Debicki’s body double was spotted filming scenes of Princess Diana meeting victims’ families in the Bosnian cemetery.

Bois de Boulogne

Bois de Boulogne was the Duke and Duchess of Windsor’s Parisian home, but was leased to the Al Fayed family. In Season 6 of The Crown, Dodi is encouraged to propose to Princess Diana at the house en route to Paris.

The car approaches the exterior of Halton House in Season 6 Episode 3, ‘Dis-Moi Oui’. Dodi and Diana are then seen inside the hall, surrounded by the property’s distinctive marble columns. You may well have recognised the locations, and their significance, because they have appeared many time before.

Halton and West Wycombe Park are among the longest-running locations in the show, returning at sometimes surprising moments. Bois de Boulogne made what could have been its final appearance in Season 3 Episode 8, for the last days of the exiled Duke of Windsor at his French property.

But the manor, and its two filming locations, returned in Season 5 when Mohamed Al Fayed (Salim Daw) leased it. Halton House’s interiors were also used for diplomatic scenes in the early seasons of the Netflix royal drama .

The Ritz Paris

The Ritz Paris scenes in The Crown were filmed at Dartmouth House in London. Elizabeth Debicki, who plays Princess Diana in the Netflix series, was spotted filming the Ritz scenes in November 2022 .

The show’s Ritz Hotel location features in Episode 3, ‘Dis-Moi Oui’, after Diana and Dodi’s trip to Bois de Boulogne.

In reality, the Ritz Paris is located in Place Vendome – which recently appeared as a Lupin filming location. The prestigious neighbourhood features heavily in the first episode of Lupin Season 3 .

Balmoral Estate

Kinloch Laggan’s hills, forests and loch have been used for Balmoral Estate scenes over numerous past seasons of The Crown. The landscape is close to the Balmoral’s own, with both sitting on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park. But there are some geographical differences. While the real Balmoral sits on the eastern edge of the Cairngorms, towards Aberdeen, Ardverikie is found to the west.

You can walk around the wider lands of Ardverikie , or even stay onsite if you want to visit this Crown location. There are several holiday cottages and eco pods across the estate .

Balmoral Interiors

Fans of The Crown can visit this Balmoral location easily - it’s open to the public on many dates throughout the year. Check in advance for dates, times and prices .

The Crown’s Balmoral location may be in the Highlands, but the Ballater filming locations in The Crown Season 6 are in East Sussex and Peterborough. Look out for these locations in Season 6 Episode 2, ‘Two Photographs’, as the royal family contemplate their public image from Balmoral.

The real Ballater is the closest town to the Balmoral Estate, on the eastern edge of the Cairngorms National Park .

Ballater Royal Opening

The Highland castle location in The Crown Season 6 Episode 2, ‘Two Photographs’, is Wadhurst Castle . The castle where we first meet Duncan Muir isn’t in Ballater, but on the border of East Sussex and Kent - at the opposite end of the country. And the building where the Queen is photographed conducting a royal opening is not quite a castle either.

Wadhurst Castle is a Grade II-listed, castellated mansion that dates back to the 19th Century, designed in the popular style of the era. There are no royal connections here - though in fairness, it doesn’t have any in the episode either, bar the Queen’s official appearance.

It was built by a former army officer whose father founded the bank that became Natwest . Today, this Crown location is a wedding venue offering the grand setting seen in The Crown, against the backdrop of the local Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Duncan Muir’s Photography Studio

Duncan Muir’s Ballater photography studio location is on North Street in Peterborough. Look out for Muir’s studio in The Crown Season 6 Episode 2, ‘Two Photographs’, when he is summoned to the Balmoral estate. His car turns onto North Street, where the shop on the corner has been transformed into the photographer’s studio.

Princess Diana’s Funeral

Military Scenes

The Crown Season 6 army scenes were filmed in Southend’s Victoria Avenue in December 2022. Local press captured behind-the-scenes shots of extras alongside the burnt-out car and debris near the Civic Centre and Southend Council offices.

The Crown’s filming locations for Eton are Winchester College and Cobham Hall, a historic school in Kent. The Netflix show’s Eton location was first used in Season 5, with the East Court, Gilt Hall and exterior appearing onscreen. It returns for more scenes in Season 6, following filming in 2022 .

The second of The Crown’s Eton locations seen in Season 6 Episode 6, ‘Willsmania’, is Winchester College in Hampshire.

The scene where Prince William (Ed McVey) walks through Eton with the other students was filmed at Winchester College cloisters. The cloisters surround the boarding school’s 15th Century chantry - but this tiny chapel isn’t the one featured in The Crown’s Eton scenes .

Eton College Chapel

The Crown’s Eton chapel scenes were filmed in Winchester College. This chapel is within Winchester’s grounds, close to the centre of the campus .

Winchester is believed to be the oldest school to educate continuously - it was founded in 1382, and the school’s buildings date back through the centuries. But it also offers regular tours to the public , so you can visit this Crown filming location easily.

Prince William’s Fans

In the scene, Prince William steps out of the car to join Prince Charles to crowds of fans. This popular location has appeared many times throughout the Netflix show’s run - including as The Crown’s original Buckingham Palace entrance location .

Whistler, Canada

The Whistler scenes in The Crown were filmed in Canary Wharf.

As depicted in Season 6, Prince Charles took Princes Willliam and Harry on a skiing trip to Whistler, British Columbia, in 1998. He was a regular visitor to the Commonwealth country, often attracting press interest as he took part in local sports and outdoor activities. But on the 1998 trip to Whistler , Prince William’s presence drew an alarming level of attention from the media and public.

Vancouver Hotel

Shots of Princes Charles (Dominic West), William (Ed McVey) and Harry (Luther Ford) arriving in Vancouver were filmed in Canary Wharf’s Canada Square.

The Canadian scenes were filmed in March 2023 at the appropriately named location. The Vancouver hotel is seen in The Crown Season 6 Episode 1, as Prince William struggles with his relationship with the press.

Most of the shoot took place in March 2023, with the scenes finally streaming from 14th December 2023.

Molly Malones Pub

The Crown’s St Andrews pub scene was filmed at Molly Malones, a Belhaven pub with an Irish theme. In Season 6 Episode 2, William is seen playing a fruit machine in the pub as he thinks about Kate .

St Andrews University

Pizzeria St Andrea

The Crown filming location for Pizzeria St Andrea is the Northpoint Café at 24 North Street in St Andrews.

It was transformed into a pizzeria for the Netflix series, but it’s better known for its real connection to William and Kate. The future royal couple used to meet at the Northpoint Café for coffee – a fact that’s heavily advertised in the coffee shop’s windows .

Filming took place in March 2023, with night shoots showing Kate waitressing at the St Andrews pizza restaurant. This subplot is based on a true story. The real Kate Middleton worked as a waitress in St Andrews while studying at the Scottish university – though she wasn’t a star employee. According to the account she shared with Mary Berry in 2019, the future Duchess of Cambridge wasn’t destined for culinary success .

St Andrews Cinema

The Crown cast filmed St Andrews cinema scenes at the New Picture House Cinema in St Andrews . Kate and William are seen running out of the cinema to avoid paparazzi in Season 6 Part 2, in one of many moments filmed around the university town. Plenty of current St Andrews students were on hand to capture the show’s cast and crew at work when filming took place in spring 2023.

St Andrews Harbour

East Scores

The coastal path where Prince William runs in The Crown Season 6 Episode 9, ‘Hope Street’ is in the East Scores area of St Andrews. It runs between the town on one side and the beach at Castle Sands on the other. Visitors can walk the route, and see the ruins of the historic St Andrews Castle .

VE Day Flashback

The Crown Season 6’s VE Day flashback scenes were filmed in Hull’s Queen Victoria Square and Alfred Gelder Street in October 2023.

The University of Hull shared behind the scenes footage as the area was transformed into 1940s London. The Hull streets were dressed for the 1940s era with vintage London buses, posters and details. Look out for a Number 22 bus to Putney Common parked in the middle of one road. And in the centre of Queen Victoria Square, the statue of Queen Victoria was surrounded by wartime advertisements and sandbags.

Hope Street

The Crown Season 6 filmed on the real Hope Street in St Andrews. In the Netflix series, Prince William is shown inviting Kate Middleton to live in a new flatshare on Hope Street. The front door doesn’t belong to William and Kate’s old address of 13A Hope Street , - we actually see them entering a neighbouring property. The street is just around the corner from North Street and other popular haunts which have become The Crown filming locations in St Andrews.

As expected, Rochester’s town centre was decorated in red and blue bunting for the shoot. But you may not realise how much attention to detail was involved in recreating the royal wedding atmosphere. Local shop windows were filled with specially selected merchandise, including Charles and Camilla-themed cupcakes !

The Crown Season 6 wedding scenes were filmed in York Minster with the distinct flooring visible under the blue carpet added for the sequence. The cathedral is also used for the concluding scenes with Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh.

The Crown: scenes to be filmed aboard 73m superyacht TITANIA for latest series

Actor Khalid Abdalla has been spotted in the Spanish town of Marbella boarding the impressive 73m/233ft Lurssen yacht TITANIA to shoot scenes in his role as Dodi Fayed for the up-coming fifth series of the hugely-popular Netflix show The Crown,  which is reportedly due for release in November 2022.

It is understood that TITANIA will represent a replica of Mohammed al Fayed's elegant Codecasa yacht JONIKAL (recently renamed BASH) and will provide the backdrop for the iconic scenes of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed, the son of the yacht’s former owner, when the pair took a holiday around the French Riviera in 1997, mere days before their tragic car accident in Paris. 

The stunning yacht TITANIA is the perfect choice for the show, showcasing a classic pedigree Lurssen profile, and boasting plenty of scene-stealing features, from her glorious main salon replete with cocktail bar and grand piano to her vast array of family-friendly water toys, perfect for some on-water fun in between takes.

She can accommodate up to 12 charter guests in her 7 lavish suites, including an impressive full-beam Owner's suite featuring a private study, intimate lounge and walk-in-wardrobe. There are two further VIPs located on her bridge deck and upper deck, providing fantastic options for multiple-family charters.

Onboard highlights include a swimming pool, premium wellness amenities, including a sauna, massage room and beauty spa, glorious sundeck featuring a well-equipped enclosed gymnasium and expansive beach club with extendable swim platform for easy access into the warm Spanish waters.

Her crew of 18 will no doubt be on hand to assist throughout filming, which will include assisting with the safe operation of the yacht's veritable armada of toys. 

The last two Netflix series of The Crown are set to cover the period from the 1990s through to 2003, with the Australian actor Elizabeth Debicki taking over from Emma Corrin to play Princess Diana in the fifth series of the show.

Those who are fans of the show and are watching the sixth and the final season of The Crown are very well familiar with the scenes that featured the late Princess Diana played by Elizabeth Debicki and her boyfriend Dodi Al-Fayed, portrayed by Khalid Abdala, onboard an extremely luxurious yacht that belonged to the Al-Fayed family. If watching the scenes, had you daydreaming sitting aboard the Titania, donning a turquoise bathing suit as you sail above the Mediterranean Sea, well then, we have good news for you. You can book the very same luxurious super yacht, Titania for $615,000 per week during the off-season.

Titania Super Yacht

Titania is a 239-foot super yacht that is listed for charter with a luxury boat charter company called Burgess. Burgess refers to itself as the “go-to yacht brokerage for television and film.” According to Burgess, Titania, a super yacht was used as a stand-in for Mohamed Al-Fayed’s Codecasa super yacht called Bash.

During the scene, the yacht hosted the two princes, William and Harry, princes Diana, and her boyfriend Dosi Al-Fayed on a trip to St- Topez in the year 1997, just one week before the princess and Dodi passed away in Paris. The scene recreated their time on the yacht and some iconic palazzi photos of it. Writers Lucy Ford said in an article that she wrote for the companion website of Netflix, Tudum :

“When it came to scenes of Diana and Dodi on the yacht, they did indeed film those moments on a boat on the Mediterranean ,” Lucy Ford quotes Debicki as saying,  “It was a very big, fancy boat. It was enormous and kind of outrageous and exactly what the story needed. That was pretty extraordinary, to be on a big boat like that with bedrooms the size of people’s apartments. We never really took that for granted.”

Martin Childs, production designer told Tudum:

“The whole schedule was based around the availability of the biggest yacht.”

The Chronicles of Titania 

Titania, the super yacht was built in 2006 by luxury company Lurssen and ever since then has undergone two major makeovers. The yacht was originally designed by Espen Øino, a naval architect, and harbors an airy and light interior with blue and white textiles, dark wood trim, numerous windows as well as a large outdoor space. The super yacht houses seven cabins, including two owner’s suites, and sleeps a total of 12 guests. Moreover, each cabin harbors its own luxuriously spacious en suite marble bathroom. 

Even though Titania is a contemporary vessel boasting modern furnishings and fines, according to Tudum, The Crown team had to “’90s-ify” the interiors of the yacht or filming. These 90s renovations involved adding “ bulky lamps, varnished teak wood, and particular shades of turquoise and cream,”  wrote Lucy Ford. The Crown’s headset decorator, Alison Harvey, told Tudum:

“The yacht obviously exists as a contemporary yacht,” 

“We just had to bring in more ’90s fabric and more ’90s-flavor pictures and paintings and make it a little less on point in terms of proper super-yacht decor today.”

The state-of-the-art yacht comes with a sea-level beach club, a jacuzzi, and pool with a swim-up bar, a fitness center with a personal trainer, a sauna, a beauty salon with a beautician, a sky lounge that harbors a drop-down cinema, and a massage room that houses an onboard masseuse. The board onboard has 21 crew members who see to the needs and requirements of guests. 

Included with the weekly charter, the price of which ranges from $615,000 to $715,000 per week, two jet skis, two kayaks, snorkeling and diving gear, two boat tenders, two Seabobs, two stand-up paddleboards, two sailing dinghies, an e-Foil, surfboards, inflatable aquatic slides, water skis, and jumping pads.
