Shore Excursions Group

Reggae Catamaran Cruise to Margaritaville

Reggae Catamaran Cruise to Margaritaville in Montego Bay Caribbean

This fun excursion begins as you are transferred from the cruise ship pier to where the catamaran is docked. After a brief orientation by the crew introducing you to the vessel and its features, the party will begin!

Laugh out loud with newfound friends as the undulating shoreline passes you by. After a 20 minute trip you will arrive at the snorkeling site, where you will have 30 minutes to indulge in the beautiful marine life that exists in Jamaica. All snorkeling equipment will be provided, but no alcoholic beverages will be served until the snorkeling segment has been completed. Once the bar has been opened you'll find yourself swaying to the rhythms of reggae music (new and old), while learning the latest island dance moves and enjoying a signature catamaran cocktail. There's nothing quite like this"club on the water" to feel the pulse of the island vibes and see the wonders of the Caribbean. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy appetizers, pastries and fruits, served to you by a world class crew.

Your next stop will be the world famous Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, where you will be able to enjoy the water activities (such as slides and water trampolines) located there. After disembarking the catamaran, you will be greeted and entertained by Margaritaville's staff to ensure that the party never stops! Please note that drinks are not complimentary at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. You'll have 45 minutes to enjoy at Margaritaville before taking the party back to the catamaran.

The excursion then continues as you sail back to the dock partying and pulsating to the smooth melodies of the Caribbean.

  • Shade306 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles A nice afternoon out but book with realistic expectations We had been recommended to visit ‘Ricks Cafe’ ever since friends and colleagues found out we were heading to Jamaica 🇯🇲 We saw on our hotels website that they provided tours to Ricks cafe so opted to book on resort. The trip we took isn’t listed but we booked the ‘Sunset Catamaran cruise’ which included a snorkel and a trip to Rick’s cafe The tour itself was about 3 hours with a check in next to bayside restaurant. We had to walk onto the boat in waist high water which wasn’t explained when booking so leave nothing in your pockets! Snorkelling was up first with belt, mask and finns all provided onboard. A guide took us round and the water is very clear. Saw lots of different fish, coral and a few lobsters 🦞 Time in water felt right and it wasn’t too croweded as not everyone got into sea After snorkeling lunch was provided and the bar opened. Pretty sure it was ALL from the hotel as we saw food taken onboard. We then went down the rocky coast for some good photo opportunities and arrived at Rick’s cafe Again, you are required to swim over (not far) but it meant no money or phones for photos which was disappointing. Luckily my girlfriend has a floating phone case so I took over my debit card We had about 30 mins before heading back with a souvenir in the phone case. I did some cliff jumping also. Music and dancing on way back, very relaxed and crew do their best to get people involved and serve you A good experience overall but not sure it justified the price we paid. It was $110pp for the food and drink you’ve left behind plus a snorkel. Nothing extra provided at cafe either But based in Negril, it’s a fun way to see Ricks cafe, the coastline and do some snorkelling. Just be prepared to get wetter than you’d expect! I’d rate above average but not quite ‘very good’ in my opinion Read more Written February 28, 2024

  • O4971NLchrisc 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Awesome and relaxing river rafting expedience! Easily booked with and very well described by the most helpful agent Serita right in the Sandals Negril resort, this was a fun trip. She carefully and accurately explained the excursion which was a bus ride to Chukka Outpost for some amazing pictures. From there we switched buses and headed to the river. 90 minutes all in from Sandals. Our driver George narrated the entire trip via headset as he drove and he was very informative, pointing out many towns, geographic and historic features - we learned a great deal. He was also funny as heck! We were assigned to a bamboo raft and raft Captain. “Ribeye” was ours and he was informative about all things to do with the river, the area, the flora and fauna. He was also very funny and kept us entertained as he guided the raft with ease. We also enjoyed the included bottle of Prosecco (you could have four Red Stripes instead) and the limestone foot rub to the knee was amazingly refreshing. We liked it so much we bought a bag, facilitated by Ribeye, to take home, for only $10 US. There were also riverside bars where you could purchase additional alcohol if you wanted, and there were folks selling the famous inhaled Jamaican export to take on your raft. :) The trip back was 90 minutes - no narration, which was fine as we either chatted with others on the bus or dozed. A couple telurv stops were added, and appreciated. Well worth the fee and we’d do it again! Thanks again to series for her help and guidance! Read more Written January 31, 2024
  • veryuniquetraveler 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Lies, Lies, Lies, and NO dependability or accountability I had wanted to go on several tours while in Jamaica, but, unfortunately, I didn't plan ahead well enough, as I didn't realize how far it was going to be to travel to the northern section of the island from the western and southern sections. In our opinion, they NEVER should have advertised the tours only HALF the time they actually would be. We only asked our travel agent where the best beaches would be, but overall, were disappointed in both locations. She also didn't seem to realize how long it would take to go to the places I wanted to visit. So, be advised that a LOT of the main attractions are on the north coast. and from the west or south will take a 2-3 hour drive to get to them. The times quoted on their website for when the tour times were supposed to leave and return are ALL incorrect. I also wanted to see some coffee plantations, but was told it was too dangerous to travel up into the mountains or to go into Kingston, and it would be a 3-4 hour drive on top of that. We were last in Jamaica nearly 30 years ago, and had toured most of the more popular sites at that time, but had hoped to see more cultural and and natural attractions this visit. I had pre-booked the sunset cruise to Rick's Cafe from Sandals Negril before our trip, because they showed on their website that they only had the cruise available one day during our stay. I don't know if that was true or not, but I didn't want to take a chance on missing out. The tour description was not at all as described. First of all, there was no dock to board the boat and we had to wade through knee deep water to get on board. We were really peeved that they forced us to take away our shoes. Really, why was this necessary? You were either wearing flip-flops or water moccasins. Either was much easier to hold your grip on the floor with shoes on and was more sanitary. We had NO idea we would be stopping half way to Rick's Cafe for a snorkel stop. This was NOT advertised at all!!!!! NO one was allowed to have any drinks or food until all were back on the boat. We had no idea we would just be sitting there bored to death on the boat with nothing to eat or drink. There was a wide assortment of appetizers, which were all fairly tasty, once everyone had gotten back on the boat. Why was it OK to eat and drink alcoholic beverages after the first snorkel stop, but it did not matter if you were drunk before you got off to swim into Rick's, and maybe jump off a cliff??????????????? We wanted to get off the boat at Rick's, and at least see about getting a t-shirt. The Island Routes representative at the hotel desk told us it was only waste deep water to wade through to get to the shore at Rick's. No! No! No! People were diving into the water near the mooring spot and therefore, it had to be quite deep. You had to take a life preserver to get ashore, and I was too uncomfortable to do so. We felt VERY let down and lied to by this experience. On the way back to the hotel, the party music was turned up full blast and people were being encouraged to twerk and carry on in a disgusting manner. It just wasn't our scene at all. We just wanted to watch the sunset in peace, with maybe a little steel drum music, not overly blaring dance music. Next, we went on the Croydon Eco-Farm Plantation tour. They had a sign in front of the tour desk in the lobby advertising this tour. Not ONE thing on this tour was as advertised. First of all, we were told it was an hour and 1/2's drive to the plantation. Well, after an hour and a 1/2 we arrived in Montego Bay to pick up several more passengers. The guide said we could get out at the hotel for a restroom break. I asked how much longer it was going to be, and she said ANOTHER hour and a 1/2 to get there. We were just totally shocked and appalled. I didn't bring near enough water for a 6 hour drive on top of what was supposed to be a farm tour, and no drinks were included. We had to leave our hotel at 7:20 AM, so we missed breakfast, and were told that we would be back around 1 :30. Absolutely not! Had we had ANY idea we wouldn't be getting back until 5:30, we NEVER would have signed up for this ALL day tour over a VERY rough road. To make matters worse, this tour was NOT at all as described. We thought we were going to see fields of coffee, but found out there there had been no trees there for years. There was a SMALL demo about grinding coffee beans. There were also supposed to be fields of pineapple, as we have seen in Hawaii previously. ( 19 varieties as advertised ) There was nothing but maybe a dozen plants along a pathway through a walk through of a display of fruit trees. Absolutely NO fields of coffee trees or pineapple fields as shown in their advertisement. ( in fact, only one sampling of a pineapple variety - not 19- and no coffee samples. ) There were several different kinds of fruit trees along the pathway that we did get to stop and sample. Also, we were told that we would learn all about bees and the honey-making process. Stupidly, I thought this meant we would see honey combs and actually bottling honey and the entire process in general. There were 3 pictures of bees shown to us with a brief description of each. I was SO disappointed and let down. The honey display was SUCH a joke!! At the top of the hill, there was a picnic shelter where we were served a traditional Jamaican lunch. Personally, we didn't care much for it. All the passengers we picked up in Montego Bay wanted to stop to go souvenir shopping. There seemed to be NO end to the day. The shop we stopped at had VERY rude and pushy employees. We wanted to try on a shirt, but it wasn't going to happen. They wanted you to decide on the spot, with it folded up whether or not it was going to fit you. They were giving out free "tiny" shots of rum drinks, but they didn't want to give you the ones you were interested in and seemed VERY annoyed by your asking to try a certain kind. We told our guides how exhausted we were as we were told we would be back to the hotel by 1:30. They seemed VERY shocked ! We told them we had booked the Great River Raft Trip for the next day. They assured us that would be a MUCH shorter trip as it was located before you reached Montego Bay. So, the next morning, we went to the tour desk at the hotel and told them about our experience the day before. They seemed TOTALLY shocked and confused. They assured us that the plantation was only an hour and a 1/2 away from the hotel, and that there was NO reason we should have gone into Montego Bay. We also told them we were severely disappointed that you did NOT see anything on the tour as was advertised, such as fields of coffee and pineapple. They seemed VERY shocked and claimed they had NO idea about any of this. So, what's the deal???? Have they not ever sold this tour to anyone else who certainly would have complained??? My husband asked if any of their employees have actually taken this tour to see what it's really like. She said she'd look into it. We were scheduled to go on the Great River Raft tour that day, which is advertised as a 4 hour tour on their website. I asked how long it was really going to be, as our guides from the day before told us it would be a much shorter trip. She said, oh no, that the raft trip would be even longer than the day before, as it was on the other side of Montego Bay. She said their other employee had NO right to tell us it was a short trip. At this point, I was REALLY upset. I was told by a different employee, that was on duty at the time, when we signed up that both of these trips would have us back to the resort by 2 PM at the LATEST, and we would have time to have a little lunch and relax on the beach for awhile before dinner. The woman at the tour desk said he NEVER should have told us ANY such thing, nor should the guides from the tour the day before, as she said ALL of them knew these were full day tours. OK, my question is then, why does their website say they are all 2-5 hour tours???? This is my biggest peeve, misleading people that they are signing up for a half day tour, not a full day tour. All of their employees need further training and should actually have to go on all of these tours so they can actually and accurately describe the tours and answer any of the clients questions. Our travel agent tried to call them a few times and couldn't get any answers to our questions before our trip. I also think they need to extend their tour desk hours. They open at 8 AM, but close before most of the flights arrive ( before sunset ). So, it would be nice if you could at least get some info for the things you want to do in the evening. I told the lady that I hadn't been feeling well and just was not up to another full day like the day we had before and she at least allowed us to cancel and get a refund. The crew were great with the exception of the bar tender, she was very aloof, but she did serve me fairly promptly. Most of the folks on the cruise were from the Sandals resort and they were the most unfriendly people. Only one other couple were dancing besides us, the crew attempted to get people on their feet, but it just wasn't going to happen. I will not attend another event from a Sandals resort. • amylynnleinen 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Pelican bar afternoon It was a nice little trip…once we arrived. We stayed in Negril and this is a very long drive from there. The communication from island routes is poor. We did not actually know if the cruise was going to actually happen until the night before around 6pm. Which is very frustrating when you only have 7 days of vacation. Other than that it is a very nice boat with a great staff. The Pelican bar is cool. However if you are staying in Negril I would not recommend making the trek. Read more Written April 5, 2023

We booked through Expedia 2/4 9:30-2:30 to visit Floyds Pelican Bar. When we arrived at Sandals Negril on 2/01, we stopped by the booth at the hotel and were told we would be notified on our pickup time the day prior. The morning of, we had still not been notified. I stopped by their booth at 7:30am after sending them an email, no one was at the booth. Around 7:45am, I approached the front desk and they stated they had been calling me because my pickup was at 7am. They rudely asked why I wasn't picking up my hotel phone-well because I had been at the gym. They said I had 10 minutes. No communication, no notice at my door, nothing stating when we were to be picked up. Its been 4 days and they have never responded to my emails. I called Expedia today, they contacted them and they are unwilling to refund me my $584. Its very saddening because we really wanted to go on this trip-the weather was perfect, but this is the way Island Routes likes to do business I guess. Read more Written February 7, 2022

When we arrived at the falls my husband had heart distress and we had to turn around and return to Negril as it is in the middle of nowhere with no cabs. The driver and tour guide were so good and amusing as they joked and tried to lighten the mood by yelling at bad drivers out the window and checking in on us. Everything ended up okay with my husband in the end and they even refunded more than half of our costs, we understood the costs of getting us out there and back had to be deducted. Great customer service, would definitely use them again on our return to Negril! Read more Written January 23, 2020
  • Avrmir001 0 contributions 2.0 of 5 bubbles I wish sandals worked with other partners as well We stayed at sandals south coast and used this group for two tours: The first was the catamaran cruise to Floyd’s pelican bar. It was a cool experience. If anyone is squeamish, this can be nerve-racking. The catamaran is choppy so sick sickness can be an issue. You have to get off the catamaran onto a small fish type boat that looks like an inflatable with a motor at its end. It takes six people of time and get to to the bar and then you have to take that back to your catamaran. What we did not like was that the tour told us we had one hour at the pelican bar. We did order food which they encouraged that we do. The food was not ready for one hour! We wanted to cancel the order and the guys at the pelican bar told us we couldn’t!? We still have not paid for the order so we could pretty much do whatever we want! We were disgusted with the stuff at the bar for telling us we cannot cancel the order but more frustrated with island routes who should have known better than to encourage us to order food knowing how long it takes and then we scarf down the food and have a choppy catamaran cruise back to shore. The second tour we took was called let’s go native Negril. Our tour guide was Maxine and I was less than impressed. She went on to talk about how she doesn’t work for island routes and so she depends on Tips… She must’ve expressed that at least five or six times in the first two hours! We were supposed to go shopping in native regions… OK… She took us to an air conditioned mall owned by Indian guys that sell Cuban cigars and fancy stuff including manufactured Jamaican products, not at all unique or native. I was livid. This was a tourist trap. It was so expensive to buy anything there. I also saw them give a tour guide a free bottle of rum, and she told another couple that was traveling with us that she got it for free. I was wondering if they gave it to her as a thank you for bringing tourists here to spend their money. We were limited in spending because I was not impressed with this area and knew it was a tourist trap. I found out later that there is a very cool craft market and that’s where they should have taken us too. They never did! That was native unlike the joke they took us to. She then took us to sandals Negril as we told her we did not want to go to Margaritaville. We have one in Las Vegas and the other couple was already to the one in Ochos Rios. We were told by the tour guide that we needed to leave at about three from the Sandals location because the sunset was going to be at 4:30 PM. It turns out the sunset was at 5:30 PM. She brought us to Rick’s café way too early where it was scorching hot and there’s barely anywhere to find shade. We loved being at the sandals laying on the beach with a wonderful breeze, and that was cut short one hour because of a questionable tour guide that misinformed us. We also found out that our tour guide gave us incorrect facts. She had the gall to tell us that Oprah Winfrey has a home there, a mansion right by sandals south coast. It turns out that that is not the case. What a joke!? What else did she miss inform us about? When we left Rick‘s Café, I had them stop at a native little shop in Negril only five minutes from Rick‘s Café that had the most beautiful carvings and clothing and all kinds of really cool Jamaican apparel made by the local owners. That was where we should’ve been taken to shop, not some “duty-free“ fancy shop owned by two Indians running a money making business that seems to be draining tourists of money while also selling Cuban cigars… Yes… So Jamaican!.!?$@@!!!?! I would prefer to take tours with other companies to see if they are better as issues with both tours, as mentioned above, we’re not cool. We felt the experience overall was poor because of the food delay at pelican bar and the fact that they would not let us cancel our food: if I were island routes, I would have people order the food while on the catamaran going to the pelican bar so it is ready in a timely fashion. This is unless they haven’t caught the food yet! The other tour, let’s go native, was anything but native! It was a tourist trap. Our tour guide spewed out incorrect facts and also did not know when sunset is supposed to happen. Overall, just blah for both and would prefer to use a different company in the future. They tell you the tour for let’s go native is six hours. It is more like nine hours. Read more Written December 9, 2019
  • pamelac863 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Mixed Experience We were recently in Jamaica and had purchased both a private airport transfer (from Montego Bay to Negril) and one excursion through Island Routes. The Three "Star" rating is the average of the two experiences. For our private airport transfer, the driver was prompt, personable, and very helpful. The car was a late model BMW, which was incredibly comfortable. There was a cooler that had water and beer, and our driver offered to stop along the way to our resort if we wanted anything else. We chose to go directly to our hotel. For a drive that generally takes about 90 minutes, we arrived in about 70 minutes; however, at no time whatsoever did we feel unsafe. In fact, our driver drove that car like it was made of glass. Overall this was an outstanding experience. We had also reserved (and paid for) an excursion through Island Routes, the Lovers Rock Catamaran Sunset Cruise. Approximately one hour before this cruise was scheduled to depart, we were informed that it was cancelled because not enough people had reserved a spot for this excursion. It was a bit disappointing, as they knew long before that one hour that this was a possibility, and we knew of other people on the resort who wanted to go on the tour and were told they couldn't sign up because it was "full". I was told that I will get a full refund. We'll see. Read more Written November 19, 2019

Wary because I had a very bad experience with them last year on my stay. They didn’t not pick me up to take me back to the airport and thankfully another bus took me after being asked the bellhop but that was last year. This year I was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted with a smile at the airport and believe it or not the same young man I didn’t have a good encounter with remembered me and assisted me to me my bus. He even smiled and we chatted and it was all good. The ride to the hotel was long, over an hour, but it was fun. The driver was polite and helpful. Starting in June, Islander will offer four and five-night cruises to the Western Caribbean and Florida, departing from Port Tampa Bay. Year-round itineraries include visits to Key West, Cozumel and Puerto  Progreso, along with one or two days at sea, the industry tracking website reported.

In 2025, the line will add six and seen night cruises to different Caribbean stops, including Belize, Jamaica and Grand Cayman.
