Description

The Watershed is the floating bar and restaurant at Brighton Marina Yacht Club (BMYC). It is nestled in the heart of the marina among the yachts and sailboats moored there, rising and falling with the tides offering guests a relaxing place to eat, drink and socialise away from the hustle of bustle of Brighton centre.

The venue is open daily for lunch, dinner or just drinks with a choice of delicious seasonal menu available Monday to Saturday and sensational Sunday roasts. Whatever day you visit, all our meals are served with a side order of stunning marina views - on the house.

The main clubhouse has plenty of restaurant seating as well as a full bar and lounge with comfy Chesterfield sofas.  The Watershed also has a large deck with outdoor seating so is the perfect spot to indulge in your yachting fantasy lifestyle without the hefty price tag of owning a yacht attached. The deck is west facing so is also perfectly orientated for sundowners.

The Watershed has a distinctly nautical feel to it as BMYC is a working yacht club so there are insignia, flags and other yachting memorabilia around the venue as well as many awards and trophies the club has been awarded over the years.  There's no other place like it to enjoy quality dining and drinks while you sit and watch the world sail by.

Right down at the water's edge, this is a great place if you like boats. Covid procedures are in place and you will be shown to a table - plenty of seating both inside and out. We came only for a drink and tried the... Trebbiano (£20 a bottle) but might have been better off with the Picpoul at £26. The Harvey's best bitter was perfectly good at £5 I think. We didn't eat but looked at the menu which is reassuringly simple with fish and chips, burger, chicken supreme etc. all around £13-15; there is also a vegan and vegetarian option. Service was friendly and efficient and this is certainly a place to visit on a nice day: not too well signposted so just walk down the ramp towards the boats just past Prezzo... More

Having tried numerous Sunday roasts over the past few months, I can honestly say this was the best roast beef I have ever eaten. Liam the chef works incredibly hard and delivers well presented beautifully cooked roast dinners. Staff here are amazing too with special... thanks to Faith, Corina, Harry and Ernst who ensured we were well looked after. We had lunch here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Lovely setting on the Marina we sat outside on the deck. Good choice of light bites including smoked salmon bruschetta and some lovely dips with flat breads. Dog friendly, charming young waiter and we met the... new manager. Good luck with this venture it’s a great find amongst the many soulless chain restaurants! We will visit again when passing thru on our boat. More

I am so disappointed with today’s visit. We went for lunch and pre booked. When speaking to then lady on the phone we requested outside seating but unfortunately they were fully booked but we were happy they could seat us inside. When we arrived today... we noticed it was nearly empty outside so, we asked if we could sit outside which again we were told no. 10 minutes after sitting down a party of 6 arrived and had no booking and just walked in. The gentleman asked if they had a booking and they said no yet the manager came over and said it was fine they could sit outside as they had some spare tables. We were so shocked. Our orders were taken and we had to wait nearly an hour for a starting sharing board with flatbread. It wasn’t even busy so again I’m unsure what happened there. We heard the table behind us complain about there food as it was missing the smoked salmon and dips yet they were not informed or offered a replacement. When we finally got our food, we had the same problem. The chef did seem a little under pressure which I can completely sympathise however, we heard him say to the waiter that there was a huge back log. Not once did the rude manager come and ask if we were ok or inform us of the missing pieces to our sharing board. I can only presume she was as she was the manager as she was giving orders to the stuff and being rude to other customers again not a nice atmosphere. The chef did personally bring us some fries over to make up for the missing fish which was good but, it would have just been nice to be informed in the first place of the wait time and missing food. I’ve never actually moaned or left a review before for anywhere but I feel like this was not a nice restaurant to visit based on the poor service. More

This is the Yacht Club ioverlooking the Marina so that you can watch the boats come and go whilst enjoying a meal and a drink. I had to pay £5 online to book for Sunday lunch for4. Then an email arrived to ask for pre... ordering of the very limited menu. It was chicken, pork, beef or veg roast plus catch of the day. I rang to ask what the fish would be but they had no idea on the Friday and would phone back but never did. It turned out to be salmon en croute when I rang again on Saturday. We arrived at 1.15 having pre ordered each of the main roasts. They arrived an hour later. Not bad except all covered in thick gravy including the veg. The plus was the location compared to the chain restaurants on the boardwalk above. The minus was they are a bar not geared up to be a restaurant. Will only go back for drink. More

Shocked how truly terrible this meal was . From the 'specials' board we were looking forward to a real treat . It was pulled pork taco , hot plate , cold meal , bits off fatty pork , globby flavourless mess . My husband had... curry and some sort of popadums. We saw. pie go out on a side plate ( £17? ) Lovely waitress but seemed to be her first night as she didn't know what the meals were . I could see the oil for frying was old and dirty as a fish plate came out with dark brown batter . We have had a horrible roast here before , but thought we would give them another chance . Never again! More

Sunday lunch. Roast chicken and trimmings. Disappointed. Roast potatoes were leathery and warmed up. Large chicken pieces, not sliced roast chicken. One small ball of stuffing. Poor. Not to be recommended! More

A great club with fantastic staff, food and reasonably priced drinks. It’s in a nice location with great views and although it’s a club it is open to members of the public. Food has always been available when we have been and it is a... great quality. More

We rode from London to Brighton arriving 60 min late. Did call to warn them. We sat in the sunshine, they looked after our bikes and the venue was tops. Could not fault them. Super friendly efficient service and nothing was a problem. Great service.... Fish and Chips washed down with cold beer. Nothing better for a sea side lunch. Thank you. More

Had a get together for my 60th and wow!! I cannot praise the staff enough, so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The buffet was excellent- the best I’ve had anywhere- so many of my friends and family commented on it. A wonderful evening... at a fabulous venue. I really can’t recommend it enough. Such a lovely location - a shame it doesn’t get busier. It’s often chilly in there during the winter months and the manageress(I assume that’s what she is in Trevor’s absence) is embarrassing. It’s all about her. No eye contact with customers and a complete... lack of self awareness- I’ve watched people wait at the bar for several minutes whilst she finishes whatever it is she is busy with on her phone. Situated on the South coast of England, on the Eastern edge of the vibrant city of Brighton, the Marina is home to Brighton Marina Yacht Club ( BMYC ). Established in 1978 and with a thriving membership, the club welcomes sailors, motor cruisers among other seafarers and all those who appreciate the sea, even if it’s just looking at it from our bar or deck.

The club organises yacht races throughout the year. We race every Sunday, and Wednesday evenings in the Summer. We also organise regular sail cruising programmes and other lively social events.

We welcome all visiting boat people to our friendly club where you can have a meal and a drink in our comfortable and relaxed bar by the waterside.

Our club is a great location to relax after a day of sailing or just to while away a few hours in great company!

Enjoy alfresco lunches, dinners or just drinks on our large West-facing deck. It is also perfectly orientated for sundowners at the end of the day!

Our menu combines fresh, local seasonal produce and seafood served as small plates, mains and classic dishes as well as platters that are perfect for sharing. All our dishes are always served with a side order of stunning marina views – on the house!

Since our inception in 1978, BMYC has built a reputation for competitive year-round yachting. We aim to offer racing on every weekend of the year; with ‘Around-the-Cans’ racing using our own fixed marks off Brighton Marina, and coastal races and passages across the English Channel.’

Throughout the Summer we offer opportunities to race on Wednesday evenings and throughout the year our members take part in events around Britain and the rest of the world.

Our focus is on enjoyment, exploring the South coast and building sailing experience.
