At 354 feet, the $200 million Ije Yacht is impressive and packs quite a punch. The boat comes with space for 22 guests in 11 cabins and is serviced by a crew of 28. Commissioned by seasoned yacht owner Packer, who had given a brief for an elegant yacht that could also carry three large tenders. In the past, Packer has owned several impressive boats like a 180-foot Amels superyacht purchased for $47 million and a 170-foot Amels, the Seahorse, which were both sold later. He also owned a 288-foot ice-breaker, the Arctic P, that he gifted to his sister in 2017. His fleet once included the 165-footer Mangusta named Z Ellerston, and a 150-foot Leopard called Z Sydney. Done with smaller ships, he makes the most of the boat he is left with, his gigantic 354-feet luxury vessel Ije.

James Packer Takes Delivery Of His $290 Million Benetti Superyacht

Aussie casino tycoon James Packer parted with a considerable amount of shares in his Crown Resorts company for a reported US$1.8 billion (AU$2.6 billion). And to celebrate, he decided to treat himself to a custom yacht from Italian superyacht builders Benetti .

The longest yacht Benetti has ever constructed at 354-foot, the US$200 million (AU$289.4 million) creation is named IJE after Packer’s three children – Indigo, Jackson, and Emmanuelle.

Designed by British yacht makers RWD , Packer’s dream cruiser is split into five decks with 11 cabins accommodating 22 guests and 15 crew cabins. Highlights include a cinema, sauna, and massive heated swimming pool. There’s more than 10,000 square metres of outer deck space, which includes a fire pit and outdoor dining area. There’s even room at the rear of the IJE for a couple of 45-foot tenders.

IJE Yacht – Sophisticated $200M Superyacht

IJE yacht was built by the well-known Italian ship and boat building company Benetti and delivered in 2019.

With her 108 metres (354 ft) length, she currently ranks 34th on the list of largest yachts in the world. She is also the longest yacht ever built by Benetti.

Benetti not only built the IJE yacht, but they also worked on designing the yacht interior. The layout is reminiscent of a cozy beach house with luxurious elements that take the design to the next level.

There is a private owner’s deck onboard IJE with access to a separate side deck.

Twenty guests can stay on board IJE yacht in ten luxurious and spacious suites. The yacht has a dedicated movie theatre, nightclub, and an elevator between the four decks.

The gym is not only equipped with the latest equipment, but it is also a real eye-catcher and is located on the lower deck of the IJE yacht.

One side wall folds down completely to double the size of the gym, and a ladder into the water invites you to cool off after your workout.

A well-trained crew of up to 28 people takes care of everything in and around the vessel.

Specifications

Two MTU twin engines power IJE with 2,880 kW each. She achieves top speeds of 21 knots and can reach distances of over 6,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 16 knots.

The 108-meter yacht is also equipped with an additional system from Schottel, which allows low-noise and low-vibration auxiliary propulsion that guarantees better maneuverability.

IJE has a fuel tank of up to 365,000 liters and a freshwater tank of 85,000 liters, which is an advantage for longer distances.

The exterior of IJE was designed by world-renowned ship designer RWD, whose goal is to create each yacht with “exceptional beauty and elegance.”

There is space for two tenders up to 12 meters long that can be launched by crane on the foredeck.

A fireplace was installed as a focal point on the bridge deck, and on the main deck, a pool surrounded by spacious open-air dining with an additional lounge and bar welcomes guests. A side garage opens up and becomes a berth for four jet skis.

The IJE yacht also carries water toys such as seabobs, water skis, kayaks, and snorkeling equipment. The designated observation deck offers stunning views of the surrounding ocean and landscape.

IJE was transferred from Benetti to the owner for a price of approximately US $200 million in 2019. The superyacht is currently listed for sale at a price of US $175 million.

James Packer has become Australia’s Leonardo DiCaprio.

He might not have an Oscar, but he does have a superyacht and, these days, that’s really all Leo is known for anyway.

Photos emerged this week of the Aussie billionaire doing a DiCaprio - sunning himself on his $283 million superyacht with hot chicks and Hollywood’s elite.

First there was Robert De Niro (not a hot chick), along with the actor’s girlfriend Tiffany Chen and his daughter Helen Grace.

While it seems like the pairing of Packer and De Niro is like one of those unlikely animal friendship videos you see on YouTube, where a bulldog is chilling out on top of a placid crocodile’s head, their relationship actually goes back to when Packer bought a stake in the actor’s infamous Japanese restaurant and hotel chain, Nobu, in 2015. So it might not be exactly the same as one of those unlikely animal friendship videos, but it’s still weird. Like a really old budgerigar being friends with a hermit crab.

Then came the photos of 23-year-old Brooklyn Beckham - the son of Posh Spice and footballer David Beckham - and his new wife Nicola Peltz, whose billionaire dad Nelson was close friends with James’ late father Kerry. Yeah, there’s way too many names in that last sentence. Anyway, the two twenty-somethings were also snapped frolicking on Packer’s sea palace.

The point is: All this screams of Leo Dicaprio. Anyone who has vaguely flicked their eye over a tabloid website in the past decade knows Leo loves nothing more than hanging with hot chicks and other celebs on superyachts.

The Titanic star was snapped earlier this year on a hand-me-down superyacht he borrowed from a random Swiss billionaire, worth a reported $218 million.

Apparently you’re no one unless you have access to a superyacht. If you don’t have a superyacht, how else will you lure celebrities and hot people into being your friends – like James and Leo?

Admit it. We’d all pretend to be friends with someone if they had a superyacht. Mainly because it’s fun to nonchalantly tell work colleagues on Monday, “Oh, my weekend was alright – just hung out on a superyacht”. We’d even try not to cringe when said superyacht owner made us call them “captain”.

Being friends with a superyacht owner is probably exhausting. They’d be like guys who’ve just bought a drone from JB Hi-Fi and won’t shut up about it. “Dude, we took the drone up yesterday – check out these photos! Have you flown a drone? You GOTTA fly a drone!”

We’d probably let the friendship with the superyacht owner die in Winter - forgetting to respond to their text messages. There’s no need for a superyacht in Winter. But then, by Spring, we’d be skulking back into the superyacht owner’s life like a cat in the next-door neighbour’s yard after midnight.

“Do ya reckon we can get on his superyacht this weekend?” your partner might ask you after checking the weather app.

The question would make you grimace. “Eeek. Duuno. We’ve been ignoring him for six months. If I text, do ya reckon he’ll know we just wanna go on the superyacht?”

Yes. Yes, the superyacht owner will know you’re using him for his superyacht. But the superyacht owner doesn’t care. The superyacht owner is dying for you to come on his superyacht just so he can brag to you about his superyacht.

Now seems like an appropriate time to ponder why the hell anyone actually needs a superyacht. Like, sure, we’ll go on one if it’s available. But why are they even built in the first place? Superyachts always seem glamorous until you start wondering about who the hell has to clean all the toilets on the damn thing.

No one has any legitimate reason for owning a superyacht.

Packer even tried selling his last year. Then Sunday Confidential reported he had to keep it after receiving just “one paltry low-ball offer”.

That’s the problem with buying a kajillion dollar superyacht that no one else can afford. When you go to sell it, you literally can’t.

And what do you even do on a superyacht? Eat duck, apparently. For three meals a day.

That’s what the deckhand of one billionaire blabbed this week in the beer garden of a Brisbane pub we were both in.

“She eats duck three times a day,” the deckhand said about the lady of the superyacht while lighting a cigarette.

“Cheese, bread and duck. And she walks around in a Swarovski crystal-encrusted kaftan. One day, the beads started falling off – so I got the dustpan, swept them up and sold them for $15,000.”

Then the deckhand stubbed out their cigarette and made a bold declaration.

Billionaire James Packer has been spotted on his $200million superyacht in Italy as he revealed in a new interview he is winning his mental health battle, had lost weight and is involved in a new business venture with Oscar-winning star Robert De Niro .

The 54-year-old, who is on holiday with his Hollywood star friends, said he's feeling the best he's felt in a long time after cutting out booze and losing an impressive 33kg.

'I'm feeling really well and happy,' Packer told told  The Sydney Morning Herald's Private Sydney , adding: 'My mental health is the best it's ever been.'  

The mogul also revealed he's building a new $US500million ($727million AUD) Nobu resort on the Caribbean island of Barbuda with actor pal Robert De Niro, 78.

'I like trying to build beautiful things... That’s what I like trying to do,' Packer said of the new project.

It comes as James was spotted on Friday enjoying a swim with friends on his superyacht in the idyllic Portofino, with his boat being named the IJE. 

Packer appeared relaxed in the new photographs, going shirtless and taking a dip in a pair of colourful boardshorts.

Packer, who recently had Robert De Niro and newlyweds Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz on board his superyacht, said he had lost an impressive 33kg thanks to diet and exercise and cutting the booze since April. 

'I got off all my antidepressants and antipsychotic drugs in March,' he told The Weekend Australian earlier this year, from his home in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

'In 10 years, and hopefully before then, I hope to have rehabilitated my reputation in Australia and elsewhere.' 

Packer had been prescribed medication to deal with his mental health challenges including bipolar disorder.

As the publication reports, Packer previously invested $US100million into De Niro's Nobu restaurant chain.

De Niro was seen onboard Packer's yacht in Sardinia earlier this week.

De Niro and Packer have been friends and business partners for years.

They first crossed paths around 2012 after Packer launched his film financing company RatPac with movie director Brett Ratner.

Packer's foray into Hollywood's elite circle saw him rub shoulders with the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese, and of course, De Niro.

Packer sold Crown to private investment company Blackstone for $8.9billion in a deal that was finalised in June, with the businessman pocketing $3.3billion. 

The sale marked the end of a major chapter in his life which at times was mired by controversy amid inquiries into the company and allegations of money laundering.

Despite the investigations, the billionaire credited his casinos in Melbourne, Perth and Sydney for changing the cities 'for the better'.

The father-of-three said he is now excited to begin his 'third act' and plans to ease back into public life in Australia.
