We took the first tender from our cruise ship Windstar Pride to meet Nano and Captain Jesse at the dock at Pigeon Point. We brought our snorkel gear & towel from the ship as directed. We stopped to pick up some others, including a stop at a Carnival ship in Castries Harbor, very interesting! Also stopped at Marigot Bay on the way to Soufriere.

One couple left the speedboat at Annes Chastenet to snorkel; that was a great idea and I am sorry that we did not do the same. Anse Chastenet is an exceptionally beautiful beach with great snorkeling. Great that Joy’s was flexible to offer that option.

We were picked up by boat from the beach at Morgan bay. The trip included a visit to the mud baths? A waterfall, lovely lunch then a bit of snorkelling. This was definitely one of the highlights to our holiday.

What should I wear for a Piton tour in St. Lucia?

This entirely depends on which kind of tour you are taking. No matter what you need comfortable clothes and non-slip shoes. You also absolutely need a good sunscreen. This is the sunscreen I recommend , as it doesn’t contain harmful chemicals that damage the delicate tropical ocean life.

If you are taking a boat tour, or are planning on snorkeling, you should wear a swimsuit and bring a towel. If you are hiking the Pitons, you should be sure to have sturdy hiking shoes.

Can you hike the Pitons in St. Lucia without a guide?

Technically the answer to this is yes but it is never recommended to do so . It may not be a legal requirement, but it is strongly advised that you only hike the Pitons accompanied by an experienced guide.

Gros Piton is an easier hike than Petit Piton. It takes anywhere between 2-5 hours to hike Gros Piton. Petit Piton is much more challenging, with no marked trailheads, and primitive ropes that you use to ascend the steeper parts.

Wow!  What a great day off the ship. Picked up early at point of contact, taken by speedboat to next location. Much faster than other tours that use slower boats. Much more time to enjoy the area/beach.  Spencer and his daughter were the best host for St Lucia. Volcano tour very informative, some did mud baths. If you don't do this tour, you are missing out. Food was great, great service, best beach break, enjoyed speedboat tour back to ship, allowed many to jump in water one more time, so much fun, relaxing, just what you want to have on vacation!!! Five star rating from us.

This island is on our list to return stay in future, and more so because of Spencer.

Spencer Ambrose Tours provided my wife and I with one of the best days we've ever had in the Caribbean, and we've had many. The speed boat from the cruise port in St. Lucia to the Pitons is definitely the way to go. It was both fun and fast, leaving us plenty of time to enjoy the lovely beach between Gros Piton and Petit Piton. Our captain/guide/baby sitter, did a wonderful job in all areas. Furthermore, the lunch served on the beach was delicious, and we particularly enjoyed the liquid refreshments.
