• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is confirmed more than 7 days in advance, a deposit of either $1,000 USD or 50% of the total cost of the reservation (whichever is greater) is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

Yacht rentals in Chicago range quite a bit in cost. For a half-day out on the water, you can expect to spend somewhere between $1,000 to $2,000 on average. 

However, that price can be driven up if you want anything more than the basics. A larger boat that can handle more people, a full day of yachting, and any add-ons will cost more.

How Many Passengers Are Allowed?

The number of passengers will vary depending on the yacht. Larger yachts can typically handle more people, while smaller ones will handle less. 

For yachts in Chicago, the average number of passengers tends to range from seven to 13 maximum guests . However, the best way to find out exactly how many passengers a yacht can take on it is to check the information page about it. Here, the maximum number of passengers will be clearly listed. 

Can We Bring More People Than We Planned?

The answer to this question depends on the situation. However, in general, if the number of guests is still lower than the maximum number of people the boat can handle, it is usually alright to bring them. If it exceeds this number, then it is not permitted. 

What Safety Practices Are In Place?

Numerous safety practices are in place on all of our yacht rides. We follow all relevant laws relating to boat operations to keep you safe. In addition, our Captains are USCG licensed, and the crew is well-trained and will address any potentially dangerous situation in a way that will keep you safe. 

What If the Weather Is Bad?

If the weather is bad on the day of your yacht rental, we can work to reschedule it based on our  cancellation policy . We’ll provide you with a charter voucher for the same amount of the yacht you paid for. You can then use this to schedule another yacht rental within one year.

Where do I board my yacht or boat charter in Chicago?

Chicago has 20+ marinas in and around the downtown area. Each of our vessels is docked at different locations throughout downtown. Be sure to check each yacht page for more information.

Where do I find a Captain for my trip?

Anchor only uses USCG licensed captains for all of our boat and yacht rentals. You may select from  our approved list of vetted local captains who are experienced with Chicago’s Great Lakes and waterways. 

When is Chicago’s prime boating season?

Boating weather is typically extremely favorable from early May through most of October. 

Can we bring food and beverages (including alcohol) onboard?

Most certainly you can bring food and beverages, including alcohol for your outing. However, liquids that stain, such as red wine, cranberry juice, etc. are expressly prohibited. Visit our FAQ page for more details or inquire with your concierge. 

Can our concierge provide catering and other services?

Don’t want the hassle of bringing your own food and beverage? Don’t worry. Our concierge can arrange for food and beverage to be supplied from Chicago’s top caterers. Need music or a live DJ? A bareboat charter, as defined by the United States Coast Guard (USCG), is an arrangement granting the Charterer (the individual renting the yacht) temporary ownership and use of a vessel for a specified duration. Under this agreement, the Charterer assumes responsibility for the vessel, their guests, hiring their own Crew, and providing their own food and beverages.

It is important to note that the Charterer may either operate the vessel themselves if they possess the required credentials or choose to hire their own Captain and Crew.

However, it is crucial to adhere to the maximum passenger limit of 12 individuals for a bareboat chartered vessel.

For bareboat charters, the maximum capacity is 12 passengers, excluding the Captain and Crew.

The hired Captain and Crew are not counted as passengers. So, to clarify, the Charterer can bring a maximum of 11 guests.

Please keep in mind that infants and children are included in the total capacity count. Your Captain will count as an additional person, and the Crew can range from 1 to 2 people, depending on your specific requirements.

Once your booking is confirmed, Chi City Charters will provide you with a selection of qualified and approved Captains who have extensive knowledge of the yacht.

Our Captains can offer valuable recommendations regarding the number of Crew members you may require, depending on your specific charter plan. They have a network of experienced Crew members who are familiar with the yacht, and they can enhance your charter experience by providing additional safety, assistance, and service throughout your journey.

Alternatively, Charterers are welcome to provide their own certified Captain. It’s important to note that Captains are independent contractors hired directly by the Charterer and are not affiliated with or employed by Chi City Charters.

The rate for Captains typically ranges from $80 to $250 per hour, depending on their skills, experience, and qualifications, and this does not include gratuity.

It is customary to show appreciation to your hired Captain and Crew by leaving a gratuity of 18-25% of the total charter price (excluding the Captain’s hourly rate). Payment and gratuity should be made directly to your hired Captain.

Captains usually accept cash or payment through peer-to-peer platforms such as ApplePay, Venmo, Zelle, and others.

At Chi City Charters, we accept all major credit cards, including ApplePay, Venmo, Zelle, direct deposit, and cash, providing you with flexible payment options.

However, please be aware that we are unable to accept payment on behalf of your hired Captain or Crew, as they are separate contractors hired directly by the Charterer.

We recommend discussing the preferred method of payment with your hired Captain to ensure a smooth transaction process that aligns with their payment preferences.

What should I bring with me for my Chicago yacht charter?

To help you pack imagine what you’ll be doing on your Chicago yacht charter.

We find that most people generally like to pack swim wear/ bathing suits, comfortable footwear such as gym shoes or sandals, and sunglasses. Soft side luggage is highly recommended, as they will easily fit inside cabin compartments. If anybody in your party is susceptible to seasickness, we would highly recommend having over the counter or prescription medication with you.

If you are a not an American national and chartering in American waters, it is essential that you bring your passport. This is a legal requirement; you will be asked to present your passport if encountered by the US Coast Guard. If you are a US national, a valid driver license or other government issued ID will be required.

Other than the additions we have mentioned, all essentials will be waiting for you once you embark onboard your Chicago yacht.

What is the processing fee for Chicago yacht charters?

A look at the most expensive superyachts at the Palm Beach yacht show and their insane features, from basketball courts on deck to ice baths and saunas

• The Palm Beach International Boat Show kicks off later this week.
• Eight megayachts are expected to be on display for would-be buyers and charter customers.
• These are the show's biggest yachts — and how many millions of dollars they are going for.

The Palm Beach International Boat Show — the yacht world's flashiest event stateside — is returning this year with over 800 boats for both deep-pocketed potential owners and window shoppers to peruse.

While it's impossible to know what exactly will be on display until the show begins on Thursday, it's expected that eight megayachts — generally defined as ships over 60 meters long — will be docked at the show and at nearby marinas like the Rybovich Marina in the ritzy Florida town.

Some of these are for sale at eye-popping prices, but others are available to charter in case you fancy living like a billionaire for a week or two this summer (and if you have six figures to spare on a vacation).

These are the eight biggest yachts that will be at the Palm Beach International Boat Show and nearby marinas, in size order.

Nero: 90.1 meters

Price: From $497,000 a week (charter) Standout features: Pizza ovens, beauty salon, massage room, resistance pool

Reportedly owned by Irish billionaire Denis O'Brien, Nero is modeled after J.P. Morgan's 1930s ship , and was built in 2007 and updated in 2021.

She now boasts a gym on her sundeck with multiple cardio machines and a beauty salon, and has an on-board beautician for manicure, pedicure, hair, and massage needs. There's also an upgraded movie theater, two new pizza ovens, and both a pool and a jacuzzi.

For those who want to go overboard, she has more than a dozen toys, including a waterslide, Jet Ski, and flyboard.

Victorious: 85 meters

Price: From $876,600 a week in the summer and $950,000 a week in the winter Standout features: Hammam (Turkish bath), wine cellar, wood-burning fireplace, children's playroom

Victorious brings a party vibe to the yacht show. With a beach club on board, a wine cellar, a cigar clubroom , multiple bars, and a lounge with a piano, the vessel is made for entertaining. Plus, there's a playroom and movie theater to entertain the kids.

For tamer charter clients, Victorious has a suite of wellness features such as a gym, massage room, beauty salon and hammam — perhaps a custom request of her owner, Turkish businessman Vural Ak.

She also boasts a treasure trove of water toys, including Jet Skis, jetsurfs, inflatable kayaks, and scuba equipment.

Casino Royale: 72 meters

Price: TBD Special Features: Infinity pool, helipad, private jacuzzi

Purchased and refitted by car dealer magnate John Staluppi last year, Casino Royale is the latest of his James Bond-inspired yachts (he's also owned an Octopussy and a Skyfall, among others).

Casino Royale has a helipad that turns into a dancefloor, an infinity pool, and a wellness center with a gym and sauna. The owner's cabin has its own deck, which features a private bar and jacuzzi.

Talisman C: 70.6 meters

Price: $60 million (or from $567,000 a week to charter) Special features: Massage and beauty room, private library

Likely the largest yacht for sale (not just charter) at the show, the Talisman C is a 2011 six-bedroom boat. The owner's cabin comes with an en suite bathroom, dressing room, private library, and crystal chandeliers.

Amenities include a gym, a beauty room, oversized jacuzzi, and a fully equipped bar. Her crew of 19 includes a trained masseuse, and the toy room comes equipped with a wakeboard, eFoil , and WaveRunners.

Joy: 70 meters

Price: From $650,000 a week Special features: Disco club, basketball court, onboard fitness instructor

Superyacht Joy testifies to the fact that owners want as many on-board experiences as they can get.

There's an expansive suite of fitness features, including a basketball court (don't shoot that hoop too hard!), a personal trainer on staff, boxing equipment, and a handful of machines. For post-workout winddowns, there's a spa with a steam room and onboard masseuse. And for entertainment, there's both an outdoor and indoor cinema, and a disco club.

Triumph: 65.4 meters

Price: From $707,600 a week in the summer and $650,000 a week in the winter Special features: Sauna, helipad, banana boat

This 2021 superyacht is named after Triumph motorcycles — a reported favorite of her rumored owner, British businessman Chris Dawson — and even has one on display as an art piece in the upper deck's lounge. The primary suite is 1,400 square feet and has its own study , and there's a sauna, an indoor-outdoor gym, a helipad, and a massage room spread among her six decks.

She boasts an "armada of water toys," including two kinds of Jet Skis, electric water bikes, and a banana boat.

Seanna: 64.5 meters

Price: $54,000,000 (or from $462,000 a week to charter) Special features: marble foyer, movie room, sundeck pool

The recently refurbished Seanna is available for sale and charter.

Her indoor-outdoor gym is on sea level so that passengers can take a dip after a session with the onboard personal trainer. There's also a sundeck pool, a helipad, a two-room massage facility, and, for the more cerebral guests, a library with an electric fireplace.

There are a number of toys on board, including a popular water trampoline and two WaveRunners.

Come Together: 60 meters

Price: $65,000,000 Special Features: DJ and videographer on board, ice bath, sauna

Next-to-new yacht Come Together is looking for a new owner after doing charters during the 2023 season.

The Beatles' influence is evident beyond the yacht's name, with guitars dotting the sky lounge and a crewmember who doubles as a DJ. There's also an outdoor cinema and bar for entertainment and an ice bath and sauna for the day after the party. The owner's suite has a private study and lounge, and each guest cabin has its own ensuite.

The sale includes a number of toys, like Jet Skis, kayaks, and Seabobs.

Jason Beghe Gives Rare Insight Into Voight's Mind After [Spoiler's] Grizzly Murder

The actor opens up about what the notoriously guarded cop is actually thinking in Chicago P.D. Season 11, Episode 7.

Chicago P.D . 's latest episode had an extremely tragic end that was particularly personal for Voight (Jason Beghe) .

In the closing scenes of Season 11, Episode 7's "The Living Dead," the Intelligence Unit frantically searches for a young runaway named Noah (Bobby Hogan). Fans will remember that in Episode 6's "Survival", the team was unable to solve Noah's abduction case , but Voight became attached to the young man and decided to take him in.

In "The Living Dead" Voight works to get Noah to open up to him about his abduction, while simultaneously discovering the teen was in the clutches of a serial killer when two more bodies are discovered with similar wounds.

Under the guise that his boyfriend Paul (whom he was abducted with) is still alive and waiting for him, Noah is lured to the woods by the killer. Noah calls Voight as he's searching for Paul, but despite the Intelligence Unit's best efforts, they don't reach Noah in time. He's found dead in a steel drum that was dropped into a river. And it's Voight who has to identify the body.

The detective is clearly disturbed in this moment, a series of emotions passing across his face in a split second before he finds his composure. We're left with a close-up of Voight's blank stare before the episode ends.

What was Voight thinking at the end of Chicago P.D. Season 11, Episode 7?

So what was Voight actually feeling during those final moments? It's rare that we get any true insight, as fans of Chicago P.D.  often see him act instead of think. But the actor behind the gruff detective, Jason Beghe, chatted with NBC Insider to give the ultimate insight into what's going on in the famously guarded cop's mind.

"He doesn't really think about what's going through his mind," the actor tells us. "He's somewhat shy and introverted, but he doesn't know why. And it's because he's opening his heart, and he’s vulnerable, and he's loving."

Unfortunately, Noah became yet another person that meets am unfortunate end after Voight comes to care for them. (Think his son Justin , Lindsay, Olinsky , and his C.I. Anna ). Beghe went on to explain his character's trauma from these losses and continued efforts to find connection despite it.

"He cares and he loves and he tries to connect. That’s how we survive. We may think we wanna be alone, but we can't make it, and, you know, he's a human being," he says. "He gets his heart broken a lot. And, I think what's happening now is that that  split second of vulnerability and loss, it just went straight to anger and revenge and cruelty and you know, the savage kind of response. But you know, now, he’s beginning to learn to live a little in the reality of the losses, which to me, it was a sign of him getting stronger."

The actor continues, "W hen you let yourself care for someone or something and then it's snatched away, or it's harmed, t hat sense of loss gets triggered and it's a difficult, emotional experience, and I think one that Voight has always avoided. The best he can do is kind of feel angry rather than  the sadness, and the loss, and the emptiness are a little too much. So, he goes back, which is kind of the old Voight."

It sounds like Voight will get his revenge for Noah later this season, and we'll be sitting down on a Wednesday night to witness it all.

Shamrock Shuffle 2024: More than 26K participants kick off Chicago's outdoor running season

CHICAGO (WLS) -- It is considered a rite of spring in Chicago.

The Shamrock Shuffle is back on Sunday morning.

Runners from across the Midwest and throughout the country are in Chicago for the scenic run through the city that has been kicking off the outdoor running season for more than four decades.

"It's a great launch to running in Chicago," said Shamrock Shuffle Executive Director Carey Pinkowski. "It's getting people moving. We have the whole celebration of St. Patrick's Day, and now, we're moving to a little bit more healthy and active from the parades and all the stuff we do."

The 8K run snakes through downtown started at 8:25 a.m.

More than 26,000 runners from Illinois to California to New York descended on Grant Park on Sunday morning, showing how popular the Shamrock Shuffle is.

"This is really the kickoff to the running racing season, so it's great to be out here, great vibe. My favorite part is being able to do this with my daughter," said Brookfield's Zack Fijal.

It is a Chicago tradition that Zack hopes to continue with his daughter, Abby Fijal.

"I like seeing all the buildings and stuff, and all the people cheering is really fun," Abby said.

Others, like 11-year-old Tristan O'Meara, took on the Shamrock Shuffle for the very first time.

"The race went really well for me. It's my first time doing a five mile and I'm really proud of getting this medal," Tristan said. "I felt just amazed, and with my mom and dad and aunt cheering me on, it just gave me so much joy."

There was also a 2-mile walk along the Lakefront Trail and a 1-mile run.

McDonald's is setting the record straight after a viral TikTok shared one mom's "budget friendly" hack at the fast food chain.

In a now-viral TikTok, Leiela Kapewa-Latu shared the item she recently ordered for her family of four -- a $12 dinner box. The box comes with two cheeseburgers, four small fries, 10-piece chicken nuggets and two Big Macs, she showed in the video.

"It's not on the menu, so you're probably going to just have to ask," she said in the video.

The post generated thousands of comments, with many people reporting various prices and some saying the box wasn't available in their city.

Kapewa-Latu, who is in Texas, noted in a follow-up video that the box is on a "shareables" menu, but that it might not be available in all locations.

In a statement to NBC Chicago, McDonald's said franchisees "set their own prices and have the flexibility to create promotions that will drive demand in their restaurants."

"These promotions may vary by restaurant," the company said, urging fans to "download the McDonald’s app and sign up for MyMcDonald’s Rewards to access exclusive deals and check for shareable, bundled deals in their area."

While there's no definitive list of where the $12 dinner box can be found, there are a number of items on the "shareable" section of menus at many locations. They include things like chicken or burger packs, favorites for six and more in parts of the Chicago area -- though many cost more than $12.

The viral post comes as the world's largest hamburger chain, based in Chicago, battles customer complaints over rising prices.

Prices have risen at fast food restaurants across the country as climbing food and labor costs result in higher totals for customers.

McDonald's was targeted online for a Connecticut restaurant’s $18 Big Mac combo meal and $7 Egg McMuffin, which sparked a number of viral TikTok posts about high prices in other locations.

McDonald's President and CEO Chris Kempczinski said in a recent call that there were fewer visits and lower spending by customers earning $45,000 per year or less. Kempczinski noted that as grocery inflation has retreated, those customers are more likely to eat at home.

As a result, Kempczinski promised that company affordability would be a focus this year.

McDonald's hopes to get those customers back into its stores with marketing that emphasizes low-cost options.

“We certainly know consumers are more wary — and weary — of pricing and we’re going to continue to be consumer-led in our pricing decisions as we look forward to 2024,” Chief Financial Officer Ian Borden said.

Details on what those affordable options might be, or if price cuts are in the works, remain unclear.
