Perini Navi unveils 47m Art Explorer
The italian yard is set to debut the world's largest aluminium sailing catamaran at the monaco yacht show 2023 ….
Perini Navi , a brand under The Italian Sea Group since 2022, has unveiled its first sailing catamaran, S/Y Art Explorer . Like all new Perini Navi yachts, this 47m can be managed by a single person, thanks to its fully automated sail plan. According to the yard, this technology allows the catamaran to achieve speeds of up to 10 knots, even in extremely low wind conditions.
Designed by architect Axel De Beaufort, who handled both the exterior and interior design, Art Explorer will make its debut from September 27 to 30 at the Monaco Yacht Show 2023 .
"Perini Navi Art Explorer is an innovative project on technical, engineering, and human levels. It represents another significant milestone made possible by our continuous pursuit of stylistic and technological advancements, as well as the professionalism of the entire team behind the project," comments Giovanni Costantino, Founder & CEO of The Italian Sea Group (TISG).
"This project showcases our ability to lead in the large sailing yacht segment and pioneer cutting-edge solutions aimed at significantly reducing the environmental impact of yachts. Art Explorer is the result of our ongoing investment in the study and research of emission-reducing systems, contributing to improving air quality and the health of our seas. Just over a year after acquiring Perini Navi and launching the new 'Genesis' fleet, The Italian Sea Group reaffirms Perini Navi's position as a global player in the world of large sailing yachts," says Costantino.
65 square meters of solar panels have been installed on the deckhouse roof, allowing for the production of 12 kW and a daily energy accumulation of over 200 kW. This system is complemented by a lithium battery bank that enables zero-emission electricity generation for more than 6 hours at full load. Additionally, catalytic filters have been fitted to all exhaust gases to reduce emissions and particulate matter.
All manoeuvres in and out of the harbour, as well as operations in protected areas, will be carried out in full electric mode. The flybridge will serve as a platform for virtual exhibitions, workshops, and conferences, while the main gallery will host 'Icons,' an inaugural digital exhibit on the representation of women in the Mediterranean, curated by Nomi Daucé, archaeology curator at the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
Meanwhile, at the yard, three more Perini Navi yachts are currently under construction:
A 60-meter ketch, boasting naval architecture by Ron Holland and both exterior and interior designs by French architect Rémi Tessier. It's slated for delivery by the end of 2024.
A 56-meter ketch with naval architecture and exterior design by Malcolm McKeon , with interiors from Winch Design . This yacht is expected by July 2025.
An A47-meter sloop, conceived by Centro Stile TISG, is also set for a 2025 release.

The Italian Sea Group (TISG) has shown the world the first look at its freshly redesigned Perini Navi sailing boat and it’s 47 meters (154 feet) of pure sailing perfection.
Perini Navi Yachts is an Italian company headquartered in Viareggio, Italy, that builds luxury cruising and performance cruising sailing yachts ranging between 40 to 88 meters (131-288 feet) in length.
The shipyard’s aim has always been to create large yachts that could be easily handled by a small crew, and it has managed to do that by developing a computerized sail-handling system that allows sails to be furled and unfurled with the push of a button.
The new Perini Navi sailing yacht, which is set to be delivered in 2024, has been given a fresh look and the redesign also included innovative new features like the implementation of a new sail handling system and a re-engineered keel.
The new sail handling system comes with a self-tracking headsail with transversal track and removable staysail.
The shipyard’s new sloop model is being constructed with an aluminum hull and a carbon fiber mast, and the restyling work has mainly focused on improving performance and efficiency. As such, the yacht features a smart hull design with an extended waterline (43 meters/141 feet) and a deep V-shaped bow.
To increase maneuverability during sailing and when steering to enter ports, the yacht will feature a pair of rudders that can be synchronized through a “fly-by-wire” system.
The redesigned yacht is powered a CAT engine capable of 533 kW/h at 2100 rpm and two main generators of 86 kW/h each. TISG says it will be able to achieve a peak speed of around 13 knots (14.9mph). Additionally, they estimate a range of 3,500 nautical miles (6482 km) when the yacht is traveling at 10 knots (11.5mph).
With a 10.5-meter (34.4-foot) beam and a gross tonnage of 390 GT, the vessel positions itself at the top of her class for volume. This great volume allows it to provide accommodation for up to ten guests in four en-suite cabins and the owner’s studio.
The renderings made public by TISG show lots of alfresco spaces onboard and a modern design on the inside, with a nautical theme and a refined color palette.

Following its acquisition by The Italian Sea Group, Perini Navi , the Viareggio-based shipyard of maxi yachts you can maneuver yourself, unveils its new fleet of 48-, 56- and 77-meter sailing ships . The fleet, named “Genesis,” confirms Perini Navi’s ultra-high-level positioning as a global player in large sailing yachts.
Perini Navi from crisis to revival
The shipyard , founded in 1983 by the genius of Fabio Perini , an entrepreneur from Lucca who made a fortune by inventing modern machines to produce toilet paper, has established itself over the years as one of the excellences of Italian boating in the world.
Known for bringing easy sailing to megayachts through innovations such as reel captive winches-a system of automatic winches, driven by electronically controlled electric motors, that allow large boats to be produced that can be managed by a small crew- in 2018 enters a crisis . After the bankruptcy , declared by the Court of Lucca on January 28, 2021, Italian shipyards in La Spezia and Viareggio and the Perini Navi brand are acquired for 80 million euros at auction by The Italian Sea Group , a listed company administered by John Constantine and whose partners include Giorgio Armani.
Elegance and restraint with a modern twist
The project stems from the goal of creating a line of sailing ships with the characteristic and iconic elements of Perini Navi , world-famous for elegance and sobriety, revisited in a modern key by focusing on large spaces, brightness and sailing comfort .
The exterior lines of the “Genesis” fleet are clean and blend harmoniously with elongated and continuous curvilinear trends. Glazed surfaces expand to diffuse natural and welcoming light into the interior. The stern opens to the sea, becoming a true relaxation area as on large motor yachts. By analogy, interiors also tend to be spacious and fluid; a blue leather handrail aspires to become a distinctive element of the future Perini Navi world.
“ I am very proud of the new Perini Navi fleet and the journey so far over the past year ,” – commented Giovanni Costantino, Founder & CEO of The Italian Sea Group.- “ By transferring the comfort of motor yachts to sailing yachts, we were able to create a harmonious synergy through our already strong expertise expanded through the Perini Navi acquisition .”
The “Genesis” Fleet
The new 48-meter will be offered in two versions: regatta and cruise. The new generation naval architecture will allow even more comfortable sailing while the open stern will facilitate access to the sea offering great comfort especially at anchorage. Management of the sail system will continue to be concentrated in the two control consoles, with a series of joysticks facilitating safe control without the need for dedicated crew .
The deckhouse, re-styled, will retain Perini Navi’s signature styles: side epaulet, round of glass providing great light, and enclosed aft cockpit to offer more privacy. The new 48-meter vessel will have new hull lines to offer limited heeling angles, double rudders, and movable drift to minimize draft and facilitate access to remote harbors and bays. With a view to sustainability, it will also be possible to install solar panels .
The 56-meter , Perini Navi’s most iconic sailboat, will be revisited through a collaboration with Malcom McKeon Yacht Design, which , with a strong focus on sailing performance, will develop the ship platform and sail system, as well as contribute to the styling of the exterior . The new sail plan, with carbon masts, will ensure sailing comfort and performance through the use of Perini Navi’s “sail handling system,” with concentrated and power-assisted sail maneuvering control in the two command stations on the flybridge.
The 77-meter will be the platform on which to install the FALCON RIG , the innovative sail plan, created for the Maltese Falcon, which once the sails are unfurled optimizes propulsive thrust by rotating the masts. The sailing ship will have two masts, free of shrouds, which will give great advantages in navigation and safety. With the electro-hydraulic mast-sail management system, sailing will be extremely easy. The new sailing yacht will be the first platform to have a true spa-beach club with fold-down terraces connected to the aft beach.

Strange Glow Over Moscow Skies Triggers Panic as Explosions Reported
B right flashes lit up the night sky in southern Moscow in the early hours of Thursday morning, new footage appears to show, following reports of an explosion at an electrical substation on the outskirts of the city.
Video snippets circulating on Russian-language Telegram channels show a series of flashes on the horizon of a cloudy night sky, momentarily turning the sky a number of different colors. In a clip shared by Russian outlet MSK1.ru, smoke can be seen rising from a building during the flashes lighting up the scene.
Newsweek was unable to independently verify the details of the video clips, including when and where it was filmed. The Russian Ministry of Emergency situations has been contacted via email.
Several Russian Telegram accounts said early on Thursday that residents of southern Moscow reported an explosion and a fire breaking out at an electrical substation in the Leninsky district, southeast of central Moscow.
Local authorities in the Leninsky district told Russian outlet RBC that the explosion had happened in the village of Molokovo. "All vital facilities are operating as normal," Leninsky district officials told the outlet.
The incident at the substation in Molokovo took place just before 2 a.m. local time, MSK1.ru reported.
Messages published by the ASTRA Telegram account, run by independent Russian journalists, appear to show residents close to the substation panicking as they question the bright flashes in the sky. One local resident describes seeing the bright light before losing access to electricity, with another calling the incident a "nightmare."
More than 10 villages and towns in the southeast of Moscow lost access to electricity, the ASTRA Telegram account also reported. The town of Lytkarino to the southeast of Moscow, lost electricity, wrote the eastern European-based independent outlet, Meduza.
Outages were reported in the southern Domodedovo area of the city, according to another Russian outlet, as well as power failures in western Moscow. Electricity was then restored to the areas, the Strana.ua outlet reported.
The cause of the reported explosion is not known. A Telegram account aggregating news for the Lytkarino area described the incident as "an ordinary accident at a substation."
The MSK1.ru outlet quoted a local resident who speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but no other Russian source reported this as a possible cause.
Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Moscow with long-range aerial drones in recent months, including a dramatic wave of strikes in late May.
On Sunday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the region's air defense systems had intercepted an aerial drone over the city of Elektrostal, to the east of Moscow. No damage or casualties were reported, he said.
The previous day, Russian air defenses detected and shot down another drone flying over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow, Sobyanin said.
There is currently no evidence that an aerial drone was responsible for the reported overnight explosion at the electrical substation in southern Moscow.

NEW PROJECTS Yacht owners are interested in gambling in canada , as evidenced by the increasing popularity of casinos on Canadian waters. They have become a popular way for people to spend their time, and many yacht owners see gambling as a way to enjoy their time away from home. The increase in gambling has led to an increased demand for casino staff, who are needed to provide players with the best possible experience. Recent data from the Canadian Gaming Association (CGA) shows that there was a 10% increase in gambling activity from 2014 to 2015. Montreal and Toronto were the top two markets for gambling, with each city accounting for over 25% of all gaming activity. The CGA attributes this growth to the legalization of online casino gaming in Canada in 2013, which made it easier for yacht owners to access offshore gambling sites. The CGA also reports that there was an increase in poker and slot machine play. In addition, Canadians are increasingly turning to casinos located on cruise ships and private island resorts. While the CGA does not have any specific figures on how much Canadian yacht owners are betting, it is estimated that they are spending an annual total of $500 million on gambling activities.
