Our general manager Steve will go over the paperwork with you before you take off. We'll go over the map and give you some good advice on where to go and things to do depending on the conditions on the water. Our dock masters will assist you with loading your belongings on board before showing you the controls and the safety features. Not an experienced boater but you’d love to take your friends and family out on a boat? No problem! We can show you the basics and ensure that you're able to safely and legally operate a boat in our waterways. Explore the Intracoastal, stop at one of the numerous restaurants on the water or bring your picnic to enjoy on an island, tube in the river, and take advantage of the aquatic therapy for a day!

OUR HISTORY

Hayley’s jet ski and boat rental started in 2005 in Vero Beach as a family business. The owner Matt was retired at the ripe old age of 35 and, according to his daughter Hayley, he needed something to do. She wrote a business plan (at just 15 yrs old) and the ball was rolling. The business started with 2 jet skis and soon expanded service from Cocoa Beach to Fort Pierce Inlet . The family decided to start renting boats and to start a boat club in Melbourne because they saw a void in the market. Hayley’s bought Mariner boat rentals and Club Nautica, both of which had been in the Melbourne area for more than 20 years. The same phone number has been used for the boat rentals and club since 1985. The business has grown to be the largest rental fleet in Florida.

Honest John’s Fish Camp began as a government homestead in 1887. Robert T. Smith and his brother Charley came from southwest Georgia seeking a new life after the ravages of the Civil War. They were farmers and raised beans, sweet potatoes (yams), collards and later citrus. Their produce was shipped to the White House during the presidency of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Robert (Uncle Bob) bought out his brother's interest in the homestead, married a Missouri gal named Elizabeth (Bessie) Wells, built a cracker house in 1899 and started raising a family. Honest John was the third child of eight. He disliked farming and became a commercial fisherman. He holds the Honest John's Fish Camp trout record of 13 lbs. 4 oz. Honest John died in 1994, but his legacy lives on. His daughter, Barbara Smith Arthur holds seven IGFA world records for sea trout and one for black drum. Barbara and her husband Roger have three sons who operate the fish camp today.

Does Boatsetter screen renters?

Yes. We use a system called Cognito to ensure that payment information matches the renter's identity. We also require renters taking out a captained boat to be at least 18 years old and on a bareboat to be at least 25 years old.

Is listing my boat on Boatsetter free?

Yes! Listing a boat is completely free. We only take a commission when your boat is rented. We only make money when you do!

What if I'm not comfortable having a renter drive my boat?

If you are not comfortable having a renter drive your boat, we have an expansive network of licensed and experienced captains. Once your boat is listed, you can filter through our network of captains and favorite captains in your area that you would like to operate your boat.

Spend a full day on the Indian River that is part of the Indian River Lagoon. The Lagoon is an estuary,  a mix of salty sea water and fresh water making it one of the most biologically diverse estuaries in North America. 

More than a 1/3 of all Manatees in Florida live in the Lagoon and over 1000 Dolphins make the Lagoon their home. 

The Lagoon, it's estuaries and islands have more than 700 species of fish and over 300 species of birds.

Your journey begins on the Eau Gallie River, a fresh water tributary that flows into the Indian River Lagoon.

Enjoy "Welcome Aboard "  fresh brewed coffee and an assortment of french pastries as  we make our way to the Indian River for an 1 1/2 hour journey down the Intracoastal Waterway to explore a chain of uninhabited islands and sand bars.

Keep an eye out for Dolphins and Manatees as well as Loggerhead,  Leatherback and Green Sea Turtles. 

The Island & Sandbar

When we arrive at the Sandbar and the Captain gives the all-clear signal feel free to jump in for a swim, plant your feet on the soft white sand in the warm crystal clear water. Your Steward will be on call to serve drinks and supply inner tubes to float around and relax.

For those more adventurous (think Robinson Crusoe) take a stroll across the sand bar to explore the island.

The islands are a treasure trove of seashells, driftwood, fossilized shark, mammoth and megalodon teeth.

The islands are also the nesting grounds for numerous birds including Roseate Spoonbills, Blue Herons, Egrets, Pelicans and Ospreys.

On any given day you don't know what you might see or find..
