At 84m (276ft) the White Rabbit Golf Trimaran Super Yacht  is valued at US$100 million and is the largest tri-hull in the world The Singaporean owner, Goh Cheng Liang,  aged 91,  has owned several yachts all called White Rabbit.    

1989 - White Rabbit Alpha (White Rabbit A)  1995 – White Rabbit Bravo (White Rabbit B)  2001 – White Rabbit Charlie (White Rabbit C)  2006 – White Rabbit Echo (White Rabbit E)  2017 – White Rabbit Golf (White Rabbit G)  And finally, Charley, which, at 46m is a purpose-built shadow vessel to support White Rabbit Golf in all its voyages! 

This inspiring rags-to-riches man was sent to Malaya in his early teens, when World War II broke out, to help his brother-in-law sell fishing nets. After returning to Singapore, he worked in a hardware store for four-and-a-half years. Later, in 1949, war supplies were auctioned off by the British Army, and Goh bought “rotten paint” for cheap. Armed with his paint and a Chinese dictionary on chemicals, he started experimenting by adding solvents and mixing colours, and eventually created his own brand of Pigeon Brand paints. Then, the following year, when the Korean War began and imports were severely restricted, Goh’s business boomed! 

Goh is the founder of the South East Asia paint business and owns 39% shares of Nippon Paint. His net worth is estimated at $8 billion and in 2015 he was reported by Bloomberg to be the richest man in Singapore. Hup Jin, Goh’s son, is the chairman of Nippon Paint.

Goh is also the founder of Wuthelam Holdings which now has interests in the paint business and property development, amongst other things, and his Goh Foundation has made large donations to the National Cancer Centre in Singapore, and several other charitable causes. 

Designed by Sam Sorgiovanni, Goh’s latest trimaran, also known as White Rabbit G (WRG) is the largest tri-hull and largest aluminum superyacht in the world at 84m! She is also the largest superyacht to be built in Australia.   She now sits in her home port at Keppel Bay in Singapore, a beautiful spot overlooking the spectacular structure of the Reflections residential towers on the southern shores. 

When stood beside the WRG, you just cannot grasp the sheer beauty of her. We had to take ‘pano’ shots just to get her all in. After walking the length of the breakwater, you see the breathtaking beauty of the tri-hull head-on. And what a majestic sight, like tunnels to heaven.  The smaller yacht, White Rabbit E (WRE) is 64m but looks tiny when next to the WRG! Unfortunately, it wasn’t in its berth today but even the neighbouring superyachts were completely over-shadowed by the WRG super structure!

White rabbit golf is the biggest super-yacht to be built in australia.

INSIDE a gigantic shed on the southern Perth coastline, hundreds of dedicated workers have joined forces to save Australia’s super yacht industry and make nautical history in the process.

When complete, they can lay claim to having helped create the biggest aluminium trimaran super yacht in the world.

At 84m long (longer than Perth’s Swan Bell Tower is tall) and 19m wide, and with enough accommodation for 22 guests and 30 crew, it will also be the biggest super yacht built in Australia.

The team, which numbered more than 300 at the peak of the project, is due to finish its three-and-a-half-year mission to deliver this dream vessel, dubbed White Rabbit Golf, to a wealthy Singaporean client before the middle of next year.

Echo Yachts, based at Henderson, is undertaking the prestigious job, which director Mark Stothard said was a lifeline for Australia’s super yacht industry.

“We feel very fortunate we were chosen. It has reinvigorated the super yacht industry and we’ve had a number of opportunities off the back of this project,” he said. “Echo Yachts and Hanseatic are the only super yacht builders left in Australia.

“We brought in some retired crew to impart their knowledge down the line so that we can make sure we’ve got an industry like this intact and we can take on vessels like this in the future.

“If we hadn’t have got this project a lot of the knowledge would have been lost.”

Mr Stothard, who has sold almost $1 billion worth of boats over 30 years and owns the luxury cruise vessel True North together with founding director Craig Howson, said working on White Rabbit Golf and its 46m-long shadow vessel, which is already in Singapore and can carry an additional 22 people, was the pinnacle of his career.

“I live and breathe this sort of work and this has been rewarding all the way through,” he said. “Working on the vessel will no doubt be the pinnacle of a lot of people’s careers. In ship-building terms, it’s quite unusual because it’s diesel-electric.

“The design and engineering innovation that’s gone into it really gave people the chance to explore boundaries.”

One2three Naval Architects in Sydney did a lot of research to come up with the right structure.

Internationally renowned Fremantle-based super yacht designer Sam Sorgiovanni, who worked on a super yacht for golfer Greg Norman, is behind the White Rabbit Golf’s interior and exterior styling.

“There’s no question that in terms of Australia’s industry, it’s the biggest and greatest thing we’ve ever worked on,” Mr Sorgiovanni said. “The fact it’s a trimaran makes it unique in the industry.”

The interior will have an art deco overtone with some gold accents. Everything has been custom-made, from the hand-selected onyx counter tops in the owner’s and some of the VIP cabins, to the carpets.

“It’s the pinnacle of personalisation, right down to the cushions and cutlery,” Mr Sorgiovanni said.

Mr Stothard said the White Rabbit Golf had a lot of “wow” factor, including a mirror finish all over the vessel.

“It will take three years to paint it in total,” he said.

The shadow vessel, MY Charley, is an impressive talking point in its own right and “carries all the toys” that the client, a keen scuba diver, requires. A helipad, hovercraft, 12m catamaran and decompression chamber are some of the stand-outs.

The shadow vessel has been getting a workout since it was handed over in January. “He (the client) loves it and uses it a lot,” Mr Stothard said.

“It’s always nice to fulfil someone’s dream.”

Australian custom Superyacht builder Echo Yachts are proud to announce the successful launch of their 84m superyacht newbuild project ‘White Rabbit’ on Saturday 1st September in Henderson, Western Australia.

At nearly 3000 gross tonnes, 84m in length and 19.6m beam, White Rabbit is the largest superyacht built in Australia, the largest aluminium and largest tri-hull superyacht in the world. The finished product showcases the highest standards of luxury cruising and innovation with over 1200m2 of palatial guest accommodation, class-leading seakeeping and fuel efficiency, trimaran hull form, bespoke Naiad ride control and state-of-the-art diesel-electric propulsion by Kongsberg/STADT and Rolls Royce.

The foredeck is designed with two seating areas on the raised section close to the windows, and each features a circular table for casual meals and drinks with uninterrupted forward views. The bow is used for storing the tender in port and starboard wells, and there is a Davit crane in the centre for easy launch and retrieval.

The sundeck forward is fitted with a raised circular Jacuzzi surrounded on both sides by sunpads.
