We had the BEST vacation on "Sol Liv". Captain James and Chef Robyn were easy and fun to be around, and provided wonderful - and seemingly effortless- hospitality. The boat was beautiful, spotless, and spacious and somehow never seemed crowded--plenty of room to spread out and catch a nap when sailing. In addition to sailing the boat, Captain James was a master-bartender; he created a different "captain's cocktail" (aka "sundowners") each day, even providing the kids with beautiful nonalcoholic versions. And Robyn--she is truly a master chef. The creations that she made were not just visually stunning, but delicious as well. The four kids on the boat had a blast; in addition to swimming and snorkeling, they had jousting competitions on the paddleboards, and even tried to catch one of the tarpons that orbited the boat at night (no luck). I am so grateful to have been on this trip.

My family and I just got back from a sailing trip in the BVIs with Voyage Charters and, although I had never been sailing and had no idea what to expect going in, it exceeded all expectations I could have ever had. Our boat was named Sol Liv and it was BEAUTIFUL and so fancy! There were 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, not including crew quarters. Even though we had a family of 11 onboard, we never felt crowded and like we were constantly on top of each other. We also had our own Chef (Danielle, Denzie as Ryan calls her) and Captain (Ryan) who were both incredible. They knew the islands very well and always had a super fun day planned for us. My mom went into the trip with a few places she wanted to see/visit, which were accommodated, but some of the stops were places Ryan and Danielle recommended which we really appreciated since they are locals to the area! Danielle, was outstanding and made the most delicious meals with recipes I had never had before. Every meal we had was delicious and I am still in awe that she was able to cook that efficiently for 11 people. She would even go into town to acquire local foods so that everything was nice and fresh. I hope she makes a cookbook because I need those recipes! The Captain, Ryan, was also wonderful and went above and beyond to take us to the best spots in the BVIs. He was always ready with the dinghy to take us to shore whenever we wanted. He also went out of his way to take us on 2 separate hikes to places he thought we would like and had pretty views (first along the ridge on Norman Island, then at Cane Garden Bay). My brother and mom also lost their sunglasses in the water and Ryan went down and retrieved them for them. Danielle and Ryan were such a hospitable crew and felt like part of the family the whole trip (they even joined us for family game night 😊 ). I highly recommend Voyage Charters, especially if you have Ryan and Danielle onboard. We will definitely be back and will request this dynamic duo!!

There was plenty for all of us to do - my kids are 14, 12 and 8, and it was the perfect mix of a relaxing and active vacation. Captain Tony knew of our interests from the Preference Packet ahead of time and set a course of travel through the BVIs based on our interests. Once he got to know us even better during the trip, at various times he asked us our preference of activities and was flexible to amend the schedule to accommodate our interests. His sailing expertise made us ALL feel very comfortable and relaxed! (We had never lived on a boat before!) Chef Claudia made delicious meals for us every day! She too had carefully read our Preference Sheets and knew what types of food my family likes best. The variety and depth of the food was amazing, and the timing of when we eat was always perfect! Together, they created a vacation that included lots of snorkeling, swimming, sunning, paddle-boarding, kayaking, and hiking (when we stopped on land). They know the BVIs so well so therefore knew all the best places - both known and less known!, and shared those with us. Not only was it a vacation we will never forget, but I am confident we will be lifelong friends with Tony and Claudia! Thank you Voyage Charters for the trip of a lifetime!

Virgin Islands Entry Regulations

From covid to work permits and business licences.

With the health crisis is almost at an end , Covid regulations in the British Virgin Islands have changed. They have not disappeared, but transferred into a bureaucracy war of work permit and trade licences.

What that means is that your charter starting in USVI might not go to the BVI because the paperwork did not make it through. How can you be sure that your selected yacht has the necessary paperwork to go? That depends on your dates. Consult your preferences with us and we’ll be very direct about where your selected yacht is in terms of feasibility of a BVI charter. Note that the rules are subject to, often very unexpected, changes.

BVI charter guests on vacation are no longer required to register for entry clearance or show proof of travel insurance, regardless of their vaccination status. Also, there is no longer the need to present a COVID-19 test result upon arrival in the British Virgin Islands.

CKIM Group was fantastic, for the whole year leading up to the trip! We had nut allergies and 5 kids on the trip, with one family who wasn’t sure they would be able to make it till the week before, and they handled all of our questions and scenarios so quickly, professionally, thoroughly, and kindly. They had a great rapport with the boat owner and crew.

Chris our experience was absolutely amazing!! It was everything that we could hope for and more!!! The Wildcat Too was super clean, super well kept and the perfect size for us!! We loved that Wildcat Too had three levels for us to use contrary to most of the other charters that we saw in the area that did not have the top floor to hang in. The third floor is a must!!

Besides that what made it so special were Rob and Deb. They were amazing!!! They bought everything we had on our list (and believe me it was a lot!!!) and they went out of their way to make it extra special!! Rob knew every perfect place to take us and Deb catered to us with every specific detail you can imagine!! She cooked gourmet food every day and night and spent the whole charter taking care of every detail possible!! They make a great team!! In fact, we talked to them about doing a week charter with them next summer but in a new area like St Marteen, Anguilla, St Barts. They made our trip so special that we only want to travel with them next time!!! Please let me know if there is any website where we can rate our beautiful experience as we want everybody to know how amazing are Rob and Deb and the Wildcat Too!!! Thank you!!

Tranquility, yacht description.

This 2014 fantastic yacht from Matrix offers 76 feet of pure indulgence. Six cabins offer accommodation for up to 12 guests and the layout is perfect for families or groups with single adults alike with four queen berths and two with twin berths. Each cabin has a luxurious ensuite bathroom.

The salon and galley are integral and open plan leading seamlessly into the cockpit. Decor is modern and uncluttered throughout – more along the lines of a boutique hotel. Outside there is a massive 2,100 square feet of deck space on two levels – an incredible fly bridge and a roomy cockpit and foredeck trampoline area.

Our personal opinion

Why book Tranquility – DIVING – Not only does she offer luxury and indulgence above the water, she is also a fantastic dive boat. Tranquility features a huge aft platform between the hulls that will raise and lower the dinghy, but can also do the same for 10 divers, or allow a group to use it as a resort shelf for sitting in 6″ of water in chairs, sort of bringing the beach to Tranquility!

We had a safe trip home, but I’m still rocking like I’m on the Tranquility. I’m hoping that goes away soon!

It’s hard to put into words how amazing that trip was, but I will try. Here are some thoughts:

First off, the crew was amazing. Patric is great; a wealth of knowledge and experience, great sense of humor, patient (especially with the teenaged boys) and kind. I enjoyed talking with him and thought he took a real interest in our group, which was a bit diverse. He was extremely attentive to everyone on the boat, always asking if we needed anything, and even serving coffee. I didn’t expect that level of service from the captain, but the best thing about Patric was just talking with him. GG who cooked for us while Mary was away was simply great. Her food was awesome so we definitely don’t feel like we missed anything. She was quiet, but very nice, and very patient with the kids. I didn’t get to know her all that well since she was mostly in the galley and I didn’t want to bother her. Cooking for our 12 and the crew was a huge task and she nailed it. Rica, the deckhand, was a real pleasure. Everyone loved her, the adults and kids. She was fun to dive with and was awesome keeping the little and big kids happy on the water. Very patient and helpful at all times! Since she was always around on deck, I seemed to talk with her the most. I could just tell through our conversations that she is just a really nice, amazing person, and I surely hope she enjoys her new job at the dive shop in a couple of weeks. Andrea was new to the boat and was just helping out during the week Mary was away. She was super friendly and I appreciated what she did for our group. I got the sense she was still finding her way a bit, but that probably impacted the other crew more than us. We all liked her. A special shout out to the crew for putting up with little kids (8-9 yrs old), teenage boys, and my daughter’s boyfriend who I even find annoying! And, my brother-in-law and I could be just as childish as the kids sometimes too! The boat was very nice. It was well-kept and clean. Sailing was a lot of fun and we enjoyed when Patric put up the sails and aloud us all to help with driving. I’m not sure we could ever do another boat after experiencing the Tranquility. The weather was mostly awesome other than some clouds the first day and a bit rougher seas that day. However, it was mostly sunshine all week and very calm. I thought Patric did a great job designing a route to allow for great diving, but also allow the non-divers get in the water and have fun. We also loved the bars we stopped at – Willy T, Saba Rock, Bitter End, Foxy’s Taboo, Foxy’s, Ivan’s, Soggy Dollar. We also went to the Baths. It feels like we went everywhere anyone would want to go, some places I haven’t even mentioned. I’m not sure what we could have missed. I think the only negative I can think of was that there wasn’t access to real bait (live or even frozen) for fishing. When we do this again, I will be sure to let Patric know to get some bait. Fishing with artificial bait wasn’t that great. However, this is a really minor comment on an overall amazing experience.

Highlights: o Seeing constant smiles on my youngest son’s face all week, as well as his two cousins of similar ages. It was a real joy seeing the 3 of them enjoy the water so much all week long. o Spending quality time with my brother and sister in law all week that I don’t see that often. I would say the same for the time I spent with my college friend. o Just sailing from anchorage to anchorage, enjoying the scenery, and mostly relaxing with my wife during those times. We also would find time alone in the morning with our coffee/tea before the rest of our group woke up. The mornings before breakfast when it was quiet was awesome. o Multiple dives and snorkeling o Foxy’s and Soggy Dollar o Best painkiller goes either to Foxy’s Taboo or Andrea on the boat. All were good though and we tried them all! My brother-in-law tried to tell me Ivan’s was the best, but I couldn’t trust his judgement at that point in the day… Everyone from my group loved the experience. The BVIs are more amazing than I really even thought. Sailing was even more fun than I thought. At the end of the day, the crew made the experience. I couldn’t imagine being stuck on a boat all week with a crew that had a different approach.

Tranquility is amazing. Has everything you would want on it and more. The bedroom layout with 2 rooms having twin beds helped us with our teenagers having a little more of their own space. The inside was beautiful, great for doing a movie night. We loved having every meal outside on the back of the boat, it was perfect. We loved all the areas of the boat that were there to relax and for amazing views while we sailed. The chairs on the very top were a favorite. The kids loved the hammock and the bean bag chairs that could be moved down to the trampolines or anywhere we wanted. The boat was absolutely perfect for our group of 11!

The itinerary could not have been more perfect. We have been to the BVI many times before, so we had a few things that we really wanted to do. Patric incorporated those requests and we got to do everything on our list and the places he picked for us were absolutely amazing. It is so nice to be on a boat with a captain and crew that has sailed the BVI so often and is confident about the best places to go!

Patric was outstanding! Everyday we discussed our plans and what we wanted to do, where we wanted to go, he helped cater this trip 100% to where and what we wanted to do. He spent endless time working with our certified divers to have the best experience, as well as getting our new divers into the water. And then finding a place for our non-divers to snorkel and have an amazing experience, too! He was so great with our group of 5 teenagers and keeping them busy on the tube and wakeboard.

Mary, our chef, was AMAZING! She had her work cut out for her with our group of 11 that ranged from people who would eat anything to the teenagers that were super picky. Everyday she worked with us to make sure everyone had something amazing to eat. The food was overall incredible, every single meal. Gigi was always on top of everything, constantly doing something to make our trip fantastic, especially the cocktails! She learned one of our group drinks a specific iced latte every morning and literally had it waiting for him everyday when he got up. Gabby did a great job of taking care of our teens on the tube, scuba diving with us, basically any recreation we wanted to do. This crew worked so hard to make sure our vacation was perfect, and it was!

The food and drink were incredible. Every meal, Mary went out of her way to make sure we were all completely satisfied, she really paid attention to our preference list. Every meal was outstanding! We thoroughly enjoyed the selection of wine at dinner, as well as the after dinner cocktails. Gigi kept us all happy with any happy hour drink we requested.

Trip of a lifetime! Tranquility is the best of the best when it comes to chartering a catamaran with a full crew. I’ve never seen a group work so hard to make sure our trip was perfect and everything we had hoped it would be!

Our trip was absolutely amazing and exceeded our expectations in every way possible. We rank it our top family trip, and we’ve taken quite a few of them.

First of all, THANK YOU for guiding us toward Tranquility and its crew. I am not sure how you read us so accurately but Patric, Mary, Josh and Emily were a perfect match for our group. They absolutely took our experience to the next level with their knowledge, professionalism, willingness to accommodate our requests, and their overall attitude and demeanor. Their work ethic was totally impressive and they kept everything running smoothly all week. When they had a few down moments we had a great time hanging out with them, playing games and enjoying all the water sports. It could not have been a better match for us.

Mary is a gourmet chef (even though Patric said she’s a “cook”). The quality of the food, the preparation, the presentation – all superb, and comparable to anything offered at a top-rated restaurant. This was the case with every meal! We were blown away and each meal we said “it can’t get better”, but it did. We thought we’d dine on shore one or two nights but soon realized there would be no way to get even close to the quality of the cuisine on board.

Tranquility is a beautiful Catamaran and accommodated our group well. It’s very comfortable, all systems were in top working order, the crew kept it pristine and sparkling, and we felt we were in a floating resort. The availability of water toys was fantastic and we loved parking in the beautiful coves on our route. We snorkeled, kayaked, SUPed, used the Subwing, tubed, and during our last stop we did the sling shot. So much fun! Patric took the divers on 3 great dives.

The trip was superb! Patric and the team killed themselves to entertain the kids with diving and the water sports. All of their personalities/attitudes/service was great. The food, Mary, was excellent. Dave and Fran were both dive instructors (and great young couple) so with Patric there was three on board. We would go in groups of 5 guests and 1 instructor. We did our last 2 open water with them and managed 4 other dives including Xmas morning at 8am on the RMS Rhone. Not sure when we will do it again but I would go back to them.

I have never been so taken care of. All of you do a tremendous job. Anticipating our every need and desire. You work so hard, provide entertainment and take such great care of everyone on the ship and the ship itself. I love the standup comedy, the incredible cooking, the 200 cups of coffee that Serena made for me and Wills neverending work. Thank you for giving me unforgettable days of bliss.

Thank you so much for the trip of a lifetime. Patric the diving was a thrill. You made every moment a blast. Mary your cooking was a delight. Will, thank you for all the waterskiing. Serena you were there at every moment when something was needed. The Tranquility crew is absolutely incredible.

This has been a trip of a lifetime and you made it special with your care. The meals were out of this world and the care you took to make us feel comfortable was also. We consider you part of the clan now.

I can’t think of any words that could do this holiday justice. It has been fantastic from the moment we walked down that dock in the rain, to the boat. All of you have made this the best holiday ever. You all are family now, and we will think of you, Tranquility and the BVIs often. We hope we have given you some memories of a lifetime also. Pole dancing, long hair everywhere, our electrical expertise, endless wine tasting, yacht shopping via google and of course our own Dinghy captain with crew.

Rendezvous diving

If your crewed charter yacht does not offer onboard diving then fear not, rendezvous diving can be arranged.

So what is Rendezvous diving?

A local dive company will pick you up direct from your charter yacht at a pre-determined location and take you for a one- or two-tank dive to experience the BVI below the water. This is an excellent option if only a couple of guests wish to dive or can work equally as well if all your group are interested. If your charter yacht offers minimal onboard diving, then rendezvous diving can also work if you wanted to add a few more dives during your charter.

Rendezvous diving is at additional cost, payable locally. The dive company provides all gear.

We got lucky! We had a great catamaran, a great Captain (thanks Dietmar), great weather and a fun group. We’re already planning our 2025 with BVIYC, it will be our fifth sail! Using BVIYC has been a blessing! They have a great fleet, great support and great supplies! Can’t wait for 2025!!
