We are an eco-friendly, sustainable and inclusive  tourism business offering private skipper charter sailing experiences on the beautiful Lake Macquarie. With over 150 Tours completed, we know how to spoil our guests and give you life long memories.   

Lake Macquarie is the largest salt water lake in the southern hemisphere, twice the size of Sydney Harbour and surrounded by National Parks. It is a safe waterway, no ocean swells and natural beauty abounds.

The yacht, is licensed to accept up to 4 guests, with 1-2 crew making for a relaxed day on the water. When you book the tour, the  yacht it is all yours to enjoy and discover. 

We welcome all guests, families, couples, friends and are inclusive to all who wish to join us. Experience life on the waters and the surrounding national parks. Profound bird and sea life,  even spot wallabies onshore.

We provide: a 3 hour  Morning Sailing Tour

                        a 3 hour  Sunset   Sailing Tour 

We also provide a  5 hour S ail & D ine Tour. Where we   sail to a lake side restaurant for you to enjoy, wit h an alternative option of onboard catering on the yacht.

Our tours are private, your group will have the yacht to themselves.

Cost for the 3 hours is $440 for the whole yacht & crew inclusive.

Lake macquarie yacht club enjoys a spectacular absolute waterfront location in belmont bay..

The club caters for a diverse membership with a wide range of boating interests.

Members enjoy a full calendar of sailing events with competitive yacht racing in many designs from 30 to 50 footers, including non-spinnaker division and a strong one design fleet of International Etchells.

With conquests in every major race on Australia’s east coast, our members also have a proud offshore sailing tradition.

Our History

The Lake Macquarie Yacht Club has its beginnings in 1929 the year of the Wall Street Stock Market crash when the 10 founding fathers held a meeting in a Tobacconist and Hairdressers Shop in Hunter Street Newcastle.

Racing originally took place at Toronto as the founding fathers had a background in skiffs mostly at Toronto.

However in December 1932 “The Old Stone Jetty” at Belmont became available and was taken up by the club. The jetty was 60 to 70 years old at the time and needed considerable restoration.

Racing moved from Toronto to Belmont with races being started and finished from a timber landing on the western end of the jetty.

In December 1933 an application was made to erect a building on the western side of the jetty and it was approved promptly.

The new clubhouse was opened on Saturday 28th of April 1934 in time for the Easter Regatta by the Hon. C.J. Parker MLC.

The carpark as we know it today was completed in 1966 and the original marina development was completed in 1978 with most of the design and procurement works carried out by several dedicated volunteer members.
