This 1973 Viking 33 has been owned by a professional mechanic since 1999. Under his stewardship, Perserverance has undergone a number of cosmetic and infrastructure upgrades. The most significant upgrade was a complete re-powering of the vessel in 2007. Twin Cumins 5.9 6BG 220 hp engines were installed. The engines currently have less than 300 hours on them. In order to accommodate the new diesels, the engine room was rebuilt and the flooring of the main salon was rebuilt as well.

Other upgrades include a completely new Marine Sanitation System in 2012. This included a new marine head, 20 gallon holding tank, Y valve, hoses and two new macerator pumps.

A new top enclosure around the bridge was added in 2013. The sole of the bridge area has also been rebuilt and reinforced. The stainless steel rub-rail was re-caulked recently. The lower drive station has been removed to maximize room in the main salon. It will be provided to the new owner.

This Viking 33 has been meticulously maintained by its owner. It is now offered for sale as the owners wish to downsize. Simply put, this boat needs nothing. It offers many years of comfortable and safe boating at a very affordable price. It is a great value!

Viking 33 is a 33 ′ 7 ″ / 10.2 m monohull sailboat designed by C&C Design and built by Ontario Yachts between 1971 and 1973.

Rig and Sails

Auxilary power, accomodations, calculations.

The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Classic hull speed formula:

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL

Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio .311 Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3

• SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
• D : Displacement in pounds.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Ballast / Displacement * 100

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.

D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³

• D: Displacement of the boat in pounds.
• LWL: Waterline length in feet

Comfort Ratio

This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.

Comfort ratio = D ÷ (.65 x (.7 LWL + .3 LOA) x Beam 1.33 )

• D: Displacement of the boat in pounds
• LOA: Length overall in feet
• Beam: Width of boat at the widest point in feet

Capsize Screening Formula

This formula attempts to indicate whether a given boat might be too wide and light to readily right itself after being overturned in extreme conditions. Read more.

The V-33 is an ideal choice for owners looking to get into their first Viking-built boat and experience all of its inherent benefits. The same robust standard equipment list and nearly all of the options for the V-37 and V-41 are available on this twin-outboard, high-performance center console.

With four different engine packages, every owner’s needs can be met to the fullest extent. For maximum speed, go with a pair of Mercury Verado 400s or 450Rs. We also offer Mercury’s latest 300-hp four-stroke—the powerful 4.6-liter V8 Verado—as well as Yamaha’s legendary V6 F300.

The patented Stepped-V Ventilated Tunnel delivers the softest, driest and most efficient ride of any center console in this size range. Like her larger siblings, the V-33 possesses big-boat technology. High-tech features include joystick helm control with GPS station-keeping (with any engine package), a bow thruster and gyroscope stabilization. Our design team has engineered a special under-deck compartment molded into the stringer grid for a Seakeeper SK 2. A standard port-side dive door is built with beefy, oversized hardware with meticulous fit, finish and workmanship.

The V-33 was designed for maximum live well and fish box capacity. A standard 52-gallon transom live well anchors the cockpit, and five overboard-draining in-deck fish boxes from 32 to 98 gallons are strategically positioned so you’re never more than a half-step from a home for your catch. Choose from an array of fishing equipment and accessories to set up the V-33 for success in your waters and for your type of fishing. Case in point: Live bait anglers can add a second live well under the cockpit sole; on-deck live well inlet and discharge fittings can be installed in the transom corners; and the transom live well interior can be painted dark blue (to help sustain bait life).

The hardtop package comes with an assortment of accessories (Lumitec spreader lights, a six-rod rocket launcher and overhead electronics and radar pods) that’ll keep you battle-ready 24/7. You can also get a custom fabricated fold-down marlin tower (with removable sunshade) and fixed or telescoping outriggers from Gemlux or Rupp. Maintenance conveniences include an automatic engine flushing system and Costa Marine covers for the entire boat, or for specific areas like the console, lounge, helm seating and engines.

The patented Michael Peters Yacht Design stepped tunnel hull provides exceptional performance, speed, and turning capabilities. What engine options do I have on the V-33?

Viking knows there is a strong sense of pride when it comes to engine manufacturers. The debate about Ford versus Chevy will give you a good basis for the conversation about Yamaha versus Mercury. Wherever your allegiance lies, Viking has given owners the ability to outfit their Valhalla with either brand. For those wanting Mercury outboards, the V33 can be equipped with either:

• Twin Mercury Verado 400's with or without the Mercury Joystick System
• Twin Mercury Verado V8 300's with or without the Mercury Joystick System

If Yamaha is your brand, Viking has options for that too. The V33 can be outfitted with twin Yamaha F300's with or without the Seastar Optimus Joystick system.

What features are available on the Valhalla V-33?

The seating arrangement options on the V33 are plentiful and offer great flexibility for owners wanting to use the boat in specific ways. The standard layout includes a forward console lounge with dry storage and additional forward seating in the bow can be added for more of a cruising boat format. The helm seating again offers a choice between the standard upholstered bench seating or teak helm chairs from Release Marine or Llebroc Billfish. Another option includes adding GG Schmitt flip-up transom seats and forward bench seating with backrests that are designed to keep the large amount of deck space for fishing.

Speaking of fishing, the Valhalla V33 is loaded down with standard fishing features and plenty of options to pile more on. Standard on the V-33 is the raised transom live-well, but additional live-wells can be added to the bow in place of the forward seating. This option gives anglers fishing from the bow a quick option to grab and pitch more bait. Big fishboxes are built right into the deck and rod/tackle storage is abundant. Owners will also love the handling provided by the racing-style trim tabs that come standard as well.

Can I get a Seakeeper Gyro added to my boat?

While a Seakeeper does not come standard on the V-33, it is an option that can be added. Viking also made it easy by integrating a dedicated space centerline in the deck for a Seakeeper SK 3 model. The Seakeeper mounting system is already installed standard and is molded to the stringer system on the hull. This can be added right at the Viking factory as your boat is being built.

What are my options for adding a hardtop or tower to the V33?

For owners wanting a hardtop on their center-console, a fiberglass unit can be installed that includes polished aluminum supports and can have the underside painted to match the boat. It includes molded-in Lumitec mirage spreader lights, rod rocket launchers, and an overhead electronics pod. A marlin tower from Palm Beach Towers can also be added and includes a removable sunshade.

Gemlux outrigger bases can be installed along with either Rupp fixed outrigger poles, Rupp 18' carbon-fiber telescoping poles, or Gemlux 22' carbon-fiber telescoping poles.

What brand of electronics can I have on my V-33?

Much like the argument over Mercury and Yamaha power, captains loyal to a specific electronics brand can also have their choice on each Valhalla model. Both Garmin and Simrad electronics packages are offered along with an optional entertainment package. All electronics packages can be installed on your Valhalla right at the Viking factory for optimal quality control.

How Much Does The Valhalla V-33 Cost?
