The two-cabin two-head layout on this sociable yacht allows for two couples, groups of close friends, and family to cruise in comfort and style. The owner’s suite is situated at the bow, surrounded by two bright opening portholes and an opening deck hatch for further natural light. This is a fresh, light, airy room perfect for kicking back and watching the 24” Smart TV with Blu-Ray player as the Marine Air Systems air conditioning system keeps you and your companion cool.

A cedar-backed hanging locker, a storage compartment below the bed, shelves to port and starboard, and forward cabinets provide space for owners’ wardrobes and belongings. The comfortable en suite bathroom has a fiberglass shower stall, teak vanity with storage, a vessel sink, opening portlights, a toilet, and a cedar-backed hanging locker. The VIP stateroom features two twin berths, cedar-backed hanging lockers, hullside windows with opening ports, and a skylight with a privacy cover.

The main deck offers unparalleled indoor-outdoor living, with a range of spaces to lounge and entertain. The central galley is cleverly positioned to serve the both the main salon and the cockpit, equipped with a two-burner electric cooktop, solid surface countertops, stainless-steel undermount sink, a microwave/convection oven, and an Isotherm fridge-freezer. Storage can be found in drawers below the countertop and to starboard.

Out on the foredeck, a large sunpad allows guests to catch some rays, while the aft cockpit boasts a superb al fresco dining area complete with a curved settee and dining table. Two aft-facing seats to port and starboard house an insulated cooler space below. Speakers are fitted here, allowing music to circulate throughout the boat and create a party atmosphere.

The forward salon and helm enjoy a powered sunroof, a luxurious source of fresh air and natural light. To port, a plush L-shaped sofa extends aft, with plenty of space for guests to sit and enjoy a light meal at the teak table. To starboard, the helm is a captain’s delight, with extra wide Ultraleather helm seat, drink holders, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a standard Volvo Glass Cockpit integrated electronics package with Garmin GRID remote aft of the helm joystick.

Twin Volvo 480hp IPS-650 engines are at their best at a zippy cruising speed of 26.5 knots with a range of 241nm. Top speeds are impressive, at 33.3 knots according to Tiara’s speed own performance report. Thanks to the IPS system, handling this yacht is not just a breeze, it’s simply fun.

Tiara 44 Coupe

I usually chuckle when I hear the term, “overbuilt.” More often than not, what others think is overbuilt I think is good and rugged. Such was the case when I started poking around the nether regions of Tiara’s new 44 Coupe. For example, some would call the support system for the bulkhead opening that allows the 44 Coupe’s huge, extra wide sliding glass salon doors “overbuilt.” I call it the appropriate to last over the long haul. It features 4-inch by 6-inch vertical fiberglass beams running up the sides of the salon and across the top of the opening, as well as a large structure beneath the cockpit sole that spans the boat’s beam. This is just a door opening.

Outboard, in the 43 Coupe’s engine compartment, I admired large, reinforcing knees that ensure that the hullsides don’t flex too much. Forward on each side, aluminum structural pillars fabricated on a heavy-duty sill along the windshield landing support the 44 Coupe’s house structure and the large windows that give such a great view when you’re cruising. Throughout the boat, the hinges for all the locker hatches have a great, heavy-duty feel. You know when you close a hatch it’s not going to pop back open, which gives me a good feeling about how the boat is built overall. Tiara laid up the boat with a solid fiberglass bottom and balsa coring in the hullsides and deck.

Out on a lumpy Lake Michigan, my opinion of the Tiara 44 Coupe only improved. It’s based on the same bottom as the 48 Convertible and the bluewater design knocked down waves with condescension and exhibited runabout-like handling when I put it through a series of turns at about 25 mph. I drove it with the steering wheel and controls and then had even more fun, taking command with the joystick. It’s nothing new, but sitting back and taking control of a 45’6” vessel in the same way my 14-year-old plays a video game still makes me giggle.

From the time the manufacturer decided to come out with a complement to the 50 Coupe, Tiara remained dedicated to ensuring that the 44 Coupe exhibit the handling traits for which the manufacturer’s boats are known. That even included moving the engine halves of the Volvo Penta IPS 600 pod drive systems farther forward and linking them to the pod drives with jack shafts. This is a practice employed by manufacturers of sportfishing boats to improve cockpit space and center the weight of the engines for enhanced stability and an easier motion, but for more of an express-cruiser style boat, this could have been risky. Moving the engines forward meant the manufacturer couldn’t expand the size of the mid-cabin, which designers usually can do when working with IPS.. I applaud them for wanting to ensure that the 44 Coupe rode and felt like previous Tiara yacht. My test boat topped off at a speedy 37.4 mph at 3600 rpm and cruised comfortably at 26.3 mph at 3000 rpm. This performance is similar to that you can expect from boats like Cruisers Yachts 45 Cantius ( $955,350, powered like our test boat) the docks, the joystick made life easy and so did the windows that ensured I could see everything while docking.

At the helm, the twin Volvo Penta Glass Cockpit screens provided all requisite information on engine health and navigation. Controls are comfortably positioned and the dash is finished in a glare killing dark upholstery. To port, there’s ample space for a crowd on the L-shaped lounge.

When you head belowdecks on the 44 Coupe, you’ll find some clever ideas that make the boat feel spacious. First is the hatch to the master stateroom that folds over twice to further open the area. There’s a queen berth with abundant small-item stowage and plenty of natural light thanks to an overhead deck hatch and side ports. The master head has a separate shower stall, impressive for a boat in this size range.

Close off the master stateroom doors and you can answer Nature’s call in the day head, which is located at the bottom of the salon stairs. Work your way aft and the mid cabin has twin berths that stretch from starboard to port and fill in with a cushion to accommodate two adults. The hanging locker in this area is actually larger than in the master, so you might be fighting with the owner of the boat for space.

Back up in the salon, the galley is aft to starboard with Isotherm refrigerator and freezer drawers and plenty of dry stowage. The cockpit has space for a crowd to hang out in open air and I liked the steps built into the engine-compartment vents that facilitate side boarding, but my favorite feature on the 44 Coupe was the optional barbecue in the transom trunk ($2,280). I can’t think of a better location for a grill than on the transom. Any spills are easy to clean up and should the flames get out of control, there’s plenty of water. After all, you’re on a boat. And the hinges and hatch for the aft trunk are, of course, overbuilt.

This year’s Moscow Boat Show will also offer the Ferretti Group the opportunity to announce all yachting enthusiasts in Russia and Northern Eurasia a new important achievement in its international growth: the renewal of its exclusive dealership agreement for the Russian Federation with its partner Premium Yachts , one of the leading dealers operating in the boating sector in Russia , which will represent the Ferretti Yachts , Pershing , Itama , Bertram , Riva e Mochi Craft and Ferretti Custom Line brands.

The agreement – which was officially announced today during a press conference attended, among others, by Ferruccio Rossi (Ferretti Group’s CEO), Alexey Kurochkin (Premium Yachts’s President), and Stefano Campanelli (Sales Manager for the EMEA area for Ferretti Yachts, Pershing, Itama, Bertram, Riva, Mochi Craft and Ferretti Custom Line) – is part of Ferretti Group’s strategy for a further expansion on the European markets offering the best short/medium-term growth perspectives, also thanks to the financial soundness regained following the strategic partnership forged with the Weichai Group.

More specifically, the Russian boating market holds a great potential for the Ferretti Group’s development because of the rapid growth of average wealth among the population and an increasing interest for Made in Italy luxury goods, like Ferretti Group yachts.

Through the renewal of the agreement with Premium Yachts, the Group will further strengthen its highly selected distribution network – which currently includes approximately 60 dealers ensuring the best possible customer care in more than 80 countries worldwide – as well as its presence in the traditional EMEA ( Europe , Middle East , Africa ) area, one of the three macro-regions (besides the America and the Asia-Pacific) into which the Group’s sales structure is divided.

Moreover, in a medium/long-term perspective, the Ferretti Group is expecting an increasing interest on the Russian market not only for flying bridge yachts above 70’ in length, but also towards smaller crafts, both flybridge and open/coupé ones, which are particularly suitable for river cruising or pleasure boating in Russia’s large lakes. Consequently, the renewal of the dealership agreement with Premium Yachts also allows to look ahead at the future aiming to conquer new market segments where less competitors are currently present in terms of both products and geographic location.

The press conference, which was held today at the Lotte Hotel in Moscow, had also the objective of introducing attending journalists and yachting enthusiasts to the main new products launched by the Ferretti Group over the last few months, namely: motor yacht Ferretti 870 , Ferretti 690 yacht , and the project of the new flagship Ferretti 960 superyacht for the Ferretti Yachts brand; luxury yacht Pershing 82 ’ and superyacht Pershing 108’ New Edition for Pershing; Riva 63’ Virtus and the project of the new Riva flagship, 122’ Mythos yacht , as well as the entire range of the Itama, Bertram and Mochi Craft brands.

The yachts launched over the last few months by CRN – the Group’s brand specialising in the construction of steel and aluminium yachts between 40 and 90 metres – were also presented during the conference: the two superyachts: CRN superyacht Jade (60 metres long) and CRN mega yacht Chopi Chopi (80 metres long), the latter being one of the largest pleasure vessels ever built in Italy and the largest one ever built by the Ancona-based shipyard.

Moscow River

Moskva river has the form of a snake and is the main waterway of Moscow, consisting of a cascade of reservoirs. Within the city, Moskva river is 80 km long, 120 m - 200 m wide and up to 14 m deep. The narrowest part of the river is the Kremlin area in the city center, and the most extensive is around the Luzhniki Stadium in the south. 

Bridges in Moscow

Undoubtedly, bridges and embankments are among the most scenic spots and main attractions of Moscow. Plus, they are so romantic.

• Bolshoy Kamenny Bridge –  Great Stone Bridge –  is the main bridge of Moscow . The first stone bridge was constructed here in the 17th century.
• Patriarshy Bridge  is one of the youngest pedestrian bridges, built in 2004. The bridge connects the iconic Christ the Saviour Cathedral with funky Bersenevskaya embankment, extremely popular place among locals for its trendy art galleries, cafes and panoramic views. Patriarshy Bridge used to be a shooting location for ex-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's New Year speech to the nation.
• Borodinsky Bridge,  erected in honor of the 100th anniversary of the glorious victory in the Battle of Borodino (which every Russian kid knows about), a fierce legendary battle during the Russo-French war of 1812.
• Bagration Bridge  one of the  pedestrian bridges with most picturesque views of the Moskva River with its numerous upper-level observation platforms. The bridge was erected to celebrate the 850th anniversary of Moscow city in 1997.
• Krymsky Bridge  used to be in Top 5 Europe’s longest bridges some 100 years ago. The bridge got its name after the ancient Krymsky ford which Crimean Tartars used to invade Moscow in the 16 th  century.

Embankments of Moscow

Moscow river boats 37 embankments, the most popular being Kremlevskaya, Sofiyskaya, Pushkinskaya, Vorobyovskaya and Kolomenskaya.

You can get the most spectacular views of the Kremlin from  Kremlevskaya and Sofiyskaya embankments.

• Pushkinkaya embankment  is the most romantic in Moscow. It meanders along Gorky Park and Neskuchnyi garden and is rich for all kinds of entertainment as well as cozy nooks, including Olivkovy beach, the famous Zeleny theater as well as a pier for river cruisers.
• Vorobyevskaya embankment  is part of Sparrow Hills nature reserve. This place opens a beautiful panorama of the river and city from the observation deck and is considered to be the place for taking serious decisions in life.

Different epochs

Nicholas Perervinsky monastery was founded at the time of the Battle of Kulikov (1380). Monasteries and temples

• Novospassky Monastery
• Founded in the 13th century on the site where now is located the Danilovsky monastery. After a few decades, in 1330, Ivan Kalita moved the monastery onto the Borovitskii hill of the Kremlin. However, in the 15th century, Spassky Monastery again moved, this time to a more spacious place on Krasnoholmskaya waterfront.
• Church of St. Nicholas in Zayaitskom
• Erected in the middle of the XVIII century in baroque style. The building survived after the 1812 fire, but the utensils were destoyed. Parishioners collected donations and restored the temple on their own. In Soviet times, it was closed and re-opened only in 1992.
• Cathedral of Christ the Savior
• The church was originally erected in honor of the victory over Napoleon and was being under construction for long 44 years. Notoriously demolished in 1937 to be a giant swimming pool under open sky. The current building was constructed in 1990s. It is the tallest and one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world.
• The temple was built in 1679-82, during the reign of Tsar Fedor Alekseevich, in late Muscovite Baroque style and can be characterized as bonfire temple. Each gable is a symbol of a heavenly fire.
• Novodevichy Convent
• The most famous concent and monastery in Moscow, presumably founded in 1524. Novodevichy’s status has always been high among other monasteries, it was in this monastery where the women of the royal blood, the wives of Tsars and local rulers of Moscow were kept in prison as nuns.
• St. Andrew’s church  (male acts as Compound Patriarch of Moscow)
• St. Andrew’s church stands right on the slopes of the Sparrow Hills, on the way down to the Moskva River, on the territory of the Nature Reserve “Sparrow Hills”. The monastery is small in size but is very cozy. It’s situated in a quiet courtyard surrounded by temples, fruit trees and flowers.
