Msc yacht club 2024 on board msc meraviglia.

' src=

To say we were pampered is the understatement of the year (although, considering it’s only January, fingers crossed there’s more pampering ahead)! We had the opportunity to sail MSC Meraviglia out of New York earlier this month; we were excited to check out the new-to-us cruise line. But what we didn’t expect: an upgrade to MSC’s exclusive Yacht Club!

What is the Yacht Club?

The Yacht Club is MSC’s “ship within a ship” concept that promises both privacy and exclusivity. The experience includes amenities most could only dream about: white-glove butler service, 24×7 concierge, an exclusive restaurant on the ship and on MSC’s private island, Ocean Cay, unlimited drinks anywhere on the ship, a private pool, hot tub, lounge deck, and so much more.

MSC Yacht Club 2024 On Board MSC Meraviglia

Upgrade Offer

In early December, just over a month from our sailing date, we received an email inviting us to bid on an upgrade . We were already in a balcony cabin, so it seemed odd bidding on an interior cabin – but that’s just what we did! We maxed out our bid on an interior Yacht Club stateroom in hopes that the upgrade fairies would grant our wish.

On December 13, 2023, that’s exactly what happened!

Thank you Twitterverse!!! You made our MSC Yacht Club dreams come true. Our upgrade was accepted this morning. Full review of the MSC Yacht Club Deluxe Suite and experience coming January! 💙💙💙 #thankyou #msc #yachtclub pic.twitter.com/ZNDRZcfKKH — This Cruise Life (@thiscruiselife) December 13, 2023

Yacht Club Check-In

Fast-forward a month to January 9, 2024 when we checked in to board MSC Meraviglia. Again, to say this check-in process was different would be a huge understatement. Unlike your typical check-in with long queues, growling stomachs, and throngs of people, we waited in our own lounge with champagne and canapés away from the crowds. We made sure to document the entire experience so that we could share it with you:

First Impressions

So what is it like to sail on a ship within a ship? Is the Butler actually a real person, or is it just a glorified room steward? And what exactly is a canapé? The first 24 hours on board was a whirlwind. There were so many new experiences – and so much food! Considering this was our first-ever MSC cruise, it was a GREAT first impression! You can check out our detailed review of that first 24 hours, along with what we thought about MSC Meraviglia:

Full Review to Come!

Now that we’re back on solid ground, we’re working on our full review of our 9-day sailing on board MSC Meraviglia in the Yacht Club. We’re going to cover the things that we loved, didn’t love, and a couple things that we hated about the ship and experience.

As always, thanks for joining this cruise life of ours and following our adventures! -Mark and Rocky

MSC Seashore

I tried a ship-within-a-ship cruise experience and it was worth it for the endless perks—here’s why

The MSC Yacht Club affords travelers a totally different cruising experience, but you’ll have to splurge.

Erica Lamberg

I heard tales of luxury from people about the ritzy MSC Yacht Club , the ship-within-a-ship concept where discerning passengers enjoy their own area of the cruise ship that includes a dedicated restaurant, private lounge, separate pool and sundeck as well as private butlers and concierges to take of any whim while cruising. The elevated Yacht Club boasts priority everything while sailing MSC.

I sailed on a four-night cruise on the new MSC Seashore, a glitzy ship with Italian flair intermingled with references to New York City at every turn. Although the ship was well-appointed and had amazing dining, drinking and entertainment venues, and a bountiful Top Sail main buffet, thousands of passengers made the ship feel crowded at times, elevators were slow, and as I strolled through the general pools, they were boisterous and crowded.

RECOMMENDED: 10 things about cruising on an adults-only ship that might surprise you

Switch gears to MSC Seashore’s Yacht Club, passkey-protected for lucky guests, and is a 180 from the ship’s general spaces. Once you scan your handy Yacht Club wrist badge, or your room key, you’re instantly given entrance to a breathtaking retreat of 131 staterooms and suites. All this luxury does come at a price. Cruise fares will vary based on destination, time of year, and cabin category, but generally speaking you can expect to pay double for the Yacht Club. And from my experience, it’s worth it. Read more about why you should splurge.

You’re fast-tracked through everything

The Yacht Club’s exclusivity and impeccable service standard started from the moment I got dropped off at the Port Canaveral cruise terminal. There were hundreds of people waiting to board at 1pm on embarkation day. I saw in the distance a canopy that said MSC Yacht Club. My husband and I wheeled our carry-on luggage to the representative under the canopy. I gave her my name and within two seconds, she gave me a sticker to wear and up we ascended on the escalator to check in. Just five minutes later, I was directed to the dedicated check-in area for Yacht Club guests. To my right, I saw about 1,000 people serpentine through ropes to do general check-in. I felt a sense of relief; who wants to wait in that line? Five minutes later, a butler from the Yacht Club insisted on wheeling my luggage to board the ship and I was in my room in a total on 12 minutes from the time I stepped foot out of the car to my stateroom in the Yacht Club.

Relaxing and streamlined

In addition, Yacht Club guests have the freedom to get off the ship first for excursions. Your butler will happily escort you off the ship with a smile. Guests also can disembark on the last morning first, which is a big convenience. Your butler walks you right to the place you disembark, bypassing crowds and hassles. Port Canaveral is about an hour away from Orlando International Airport, and we took a 10 am flight home. We didn’t have to linger around until the afternoon for our flight home.

Another perk is that there’s a special seating area in the theater for shows. All the shows were excellent during my voyage. All other ship passengers have to make reservations in advance for shows but that’s not the case for the privileged Yacht Club passengers. As long as you arrive about 10 minutes before any show you choose, a crew member from the Club will allow you entry into a special roped-off section. Again, no rushing through dinner—you have the flexibility to plan your evenings your way.

MSC Seashore

Your Yacht Club package is packed with remarkable value

The price tag may sound daunting, but there’s lots of value there. All Yacht Club cabins and suites include a premium drink package that covers beverages up to $15. You can use this perk both in the Yacht Club and throughout the ship. In addition, your package includes a two-device Wi-Fi package, which worked well during my sailing. Finally, you get access to the thermal spa suite, which is a place to indulge after a day in port or a sea day. Commonly, there’s a taboo regarding mini-bars, but not in the Yacht Club. It’s stocked each day with the beverages you want; just tell your butler and consider it done.

You get perks ashore too

If your sailing includes a call to Ocean Cay, MSC’s private island, Yacht Club guests get an elevated experience there too. Yacht Club guests enjoy a private area, and a dedicated restaurant called the Ocean House. While other ship guests were hosted to a buffet of predictable fare, I enjoyed a lobster roll, and my husband chose carne asada. In my opinion, one thing that could be improved was the tram service to the Yacht Club’s private area. We were told the last tram back was 3:30pm if we didn’t want to trek a 15-minute walk in the heat. Since we were docked in Ocean Cay for the evening and weren’t sailing, I was a bit dismayed by this logistical quirk. I felt like I was keeping an eye on my phone to make sure I didn’t miss the last tram.

You have private areas with curated food and drink and outdoor spaces

Within the Yacht Club complex, there’s the Yacht Club Restaurant, Top Sail Lounge and the One Pool Buffet, which are all exclusive to Yacht Club guests. Obviously, the food and service are steps above other dining venues of the ship, I can vouch for that. Although the food is delicious, if you don’t want to pay extra to dine at the specialty restaurants or fuss in the main buffet, eating three meals a day in the Yacht Club restaurant can get a bit monotonous. The breakfast is the same daily, and lunch and dinner offer a menu with daily specials plus a few standby selections like a hamburger or pasta each day. Although the Yacht Club Restaurant concept is desirable, I would strongly suggest dining in other venues on board, especially for dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed specialty dining in Ocean Cay Restaurant, Butcher’s Cut, and Kaito Teppanyaki. I also want to mention that late afternoon high tea is offered daily at the Yacht Club Restaurant. It was one of the nicest I have experienced at sea.

MSC Seashore

Also available exclusively to Yacht Club passengers is the Top Sail Lounge, which offers panoramic water views and has chef-curated selections from morning through late night. We enjoyed popping into the lounge at all hours to try finger foods and sweets. The One Pool Buffet offers a more casual option for breakfast and lunch by the pool. The buffet has grilled fish, sandwiches and lots of delicious options if you want to dine outside.

There’s also an exclusive area with a private pool and two whirlpools for Yacht Club guests only. The sun deck loungers are very comfortable and I never had to worry about finding a lounger, there are ample. One issue I had was that there was almost no shade on the sun deck; there were shaded day beds for Royal Suite and Owners Suite guests, but beyond those, I couldn’t find any shade, which was disappointing.

You can justify the price at the end of your cruise

Overall, the best way to explain my enthusiasm for my MSC Yacht Club experience is this: it’s better to book an interior stateroom in the Yacht Club than a luxe cabin outside the Yacht Club. It’s worth the splurge and you return home feeling truly pampered and it’s money well-spent. And I make this prediction: Once you try a ship-within-a-ship concept like the MSC Yacht Club, you won’t want cruise any other way. Bon Voyage!

Boarding time question

By mvh , April 27, 2023 in MSC Cruises

Recommended Posts

Cool Cruiser

I don't sail for a while and it's been a few years (pre Covid) since I have sailed MSC. Do they send me a specific boarding time or do I request it at a certain point? If so, how strict are they about being there before your scheduled time? We will need to check out of the hotel by 11:00 and would like to head over by then. Also, do they give us the same time as our linked cabins?

MSC will assign you a time to check-in but that doesn't mean that you will board at that time. Honestly, I don't believe that anyone at the port enforced the assigned time.

You can check out of your hotel then head directly to the port.

Thanks, that's kinda what I thought. Pretty much just a suggestion.

I have an upcoming cruise on Seascape from PortMiami.  This is my first cruise with MSC.  Therefore, I'm not familiar with their boarding practices.  I noticed that my cruise documents state that check-in time is 15:00.  I've never received a boarding time so late before.  Will I have to wait to board the ship until 3:00 PM?  I was planning to arrive at the port by 10:00 AM or so and board shortly thereafter as I've done on all of my previous cruises with other lines.  Will this be possible on MSC?

You can arrive and check-in as early as you have planned but you probably won't board until after 11am. You will board way before 3pm if you arrive early. It is unlikely that anyone will pay attention to your assigned time.

People with priority boarding (Yacht Club, B2B, Voyagers Club Diamond, etc.) will board early then once general boarding begins, those who have checked-in earlier will board before those who have checked-in later.

Thanks for your reply Two Wheels Only!  Check-in as you describe above will certainly work for us!  Hey, since you're also in FL, perhaps you can answer another question I have regarding the Embarkation Form.  Although I typed and saved our complete address on the MSC website, I noticed that our state (FL) is not included on the Embarkation Form?  Is that normal?  Everything else (street address, city, zip code, etc) is listed on the form.  Thanks again for your feedback!

Mine are the same. It has never been a problem.

We're hoping to do the same, we are supposed to arrive at 13:00 but we check out at 11:00. Do you think they'll let us get on?

Just imagine your Dr's office opens at 8 AM and EVERYONE from the entire daya appointments  shows up at 8 AM-it's chaos... Same holds true here-they just didn't schedule a certain time for giggles....

Yes other people show up early-some are denied and told to go outside and wait, others are permitted to go up to the holding room and wait for your group number to be called... If you have to show up early try around 1 pm when most of the crowd that truly were scheduled at the earlier boarding time has processed....

Aurea how does that board?

You will board with Diamond members after Special Assistance guests. There should be a dedicated Aurea/Diamond checkin line as well. Ask, once you get through security.

My father in law has a scooter can we board with my in laws?

I’ve never personally seen parties broken up. I trust this will not start another series of posts about abusing ‘privileges.’  You shouldn’t have a problem, particularly if you check in as a group. Depending on the terminal setup the Special Assistance checkin may be located away from the Aurea/Diamond checkin.

I have been on four MSC cruises post-covid and they beginning the assignment of boarding times. No one has ever asked to see my boarding time. You just get there when you get there and get in the queue.

Thanks

Have they filled out the special needs at sea form? If not, please do that for them as it asks about wheelchair assistance and mention you need to help them settle....

IMAGINE you go to the Drs office and all of the patients scheduled throughout the day show up and demand they be seen now-its pure chaos.... MSC  didn't schedule you without reason-there is a reason for their madness and I hop they start enforcing embarkation times.... The line queues would not be so bad if everyone just showed up at the scheduled EMBARKATION TIMES!!!!

Sorry but that's not even close to the same thing. If my long ago booked flight arrives into Miami at 10AM and I get to the port at 11:30AM, I'm checking-in even if MSC randomly assigned me 2PM. I'm not standing around waiting, especially when no one is asking for my assigned time. Also, I've had situations where MSC had to email docs to me three times and I had three different assigned times! This question comes up numerous times and my answer is always the same: get there when you get there and ignore the assigned time because NO ONE IS LOOKING AT IT AND NO ONE CARES.

Agreed. I would be fine if they let you pick your boarding time when you book, which it sounds like they pick it for you. It's ridiculous to think people are not going to want to board as early as possible and take advantage of the first day. Cruise lines have been loading 5,000 passengers without times for years. There is more than one Doctor at this office.

Haha

Brighton Line

Advertised 3p Sail, 1:30p auto assigned time to check in, and then in the same document you are expected to be on board two hours before sailing. So I am supposed to arrive 30 minutes after I'm supposed to be checked in so reading their rules I won't be allowed to check in arriving at their assigned time which is past the 2 hour before sail time?

No wonder people go early.

FYI this is a computer glitch. Called MSC and they said that. You can't arrive at 1:30 and expect to get checked in and board for a 3pm departure. It is not allowed. All passengers must be onboard by 2pm. That is why people just go and show up. We have the 1:30 arrival also and will get there way before that time for sure!

12 ways to speed up the cruise embarkation process

Gwen Pratesi

The last thing you want to do upon arriving at the cruise terminal is wait in a long queue to board your ship and start your vacation. Yet cruise ship embarkation can be lengthy and cumbersome, especially when cruising on megaships with thousands of people.

Do not fear. There are many ways to avoid -- or at least minimize -- delays at the cruise port terminal.

These 12 tips will have you through the embarkation process quicker -- and enjoying umbrella drinks poolside sooner -- while your fellow cruisers are still lined up waiting to board the ship.

For cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

Book accommodations in an exclusive area of the ship

One of the easiest ways to get whisked through the embarkation process is to book a stateroom or suite with privileged access and perks. Many lines offer priority boarding when you upgrade to a suite or stay within a line's exclusive "ship within a ship" retreat.

MSC Yacht Club's many amenities include luxurious private spaces reserved only for Yacht Club guests and 24-hour butler service. When you arrive at the cruise terminal, one of the ship's butlers will assist with your luggage and guide you through the dedicated priority check-in process, making embarkation a breeze.

Staying in a suite at The Retreat on Celebrity Cruises also has a long list of unique amenities. Features of this luxury enclave include a private restaurant, lounge and a private sundeck. You'll also have a dedicated pre-cruise Retreat concierge, a personal Retreat host and concierge on the ship -- and priority check-in when it comes time to board.

If you're sailing with Royal Caribbean , passengers booked into the line's Royal Suite class receive priority boarding, with expedited boarding for the highest-tier Star class.

If you're booked in a stateroom in Norwegian Cruise Line 's The Haven, you'll be privy to private venues like The Haven Restaurant and Lounge. You'll also have a 24-hour butler and other perks that include a personal escort to bring you on board the ship during embarkation.

Carnival Cruise Line also includes priority check-in at embarkation when you book deluxe suite accommodations. Your boarding pass will be marked "Priority," and you'll be granted access to the Captain's Lounge or another designated area, depending on the cruise terminal.

Purchase priority access

With programs like H olland America Line 's Club Orange, you can also opt to pay for priority access -- even if you're not staying in a suite or in a ship's private retreat. This exclusive offering includes priority check-in at the cruise terminal, a complimentary stateroom upgrade, an intimate dining venue on two of the line's ships and a list of other perks and onboard amenities. You'll also have invitations to special events, such as a behind-the-scenes tour of the ship.

Royal Caribbean offers a similar program with The Key. Passengers have priority access at the terminal within their booked arrival time. Once on board, you can drop your bag in the main dining room (they will deliver it to your stateroom) while you enjoy a welcome lunch featuring the menu from Chops Grille. Other perks of the program include VIP access to shows, priority departure and more.

Carnival has previously offered a Faster to the Fun priority access pass, but it's currently unavailable due to the pandemic.

Become a loyal cruiser

msc yacht club check in time

Some special perks and privileges come with being loyal to one cruise line . Savings on future voyages, exclusive cocktail parties, discounts on shore excursions and priority boarding are a few of the many amenities you'll have as a member of the Latitudes Awards program at Norwegian Cruise Line.

Princess Cruises' Captain's Circle is another loyalty program that features exclusive savings on spa treatments, discounts on the MedallionNet Wi-Fi package, early access to restaurant reservations, a private lounge (for Platinum and Elite members) and priority boarding.

With the cruise lines that offer these programs, the more you sail, the more benefits you'll receive.

But, what do you do to speed up the embarkation process if you don't want to book a suite or pay for upgrades, or are a first-time cruiser? There are several things you can do.

Book a private transfer in advance

Schedule a private transfer to the port, so you're not scrambling for a ride to the terminal at the last minute. Even if it costs a little extra to schedule a car or van to pick you up at a specific time, it's worth the peace of mind to know that you won't be competing for Ubers or cabs with thousands of other people trying to arrive at the cruise terminal on embarkation day. If you book a cruise line transfer, know that you might spend quite a bit of time waiting for other passengers to fill the bus. It'll be faster to arrange a transfer just for your travel party.

Check in online

Most cruise lines have apps where you can check in online before your cruise. Checking in ahead of time streamlines the boarding process, so complete as much information as possible and upload photos or travel document information on the app. Even if you need to go through the checkpoints at the terminal to board the ship and show your passport, QR codes, boarding pass, etc., checking in online still speeds up the embarkation process.

Don't board at peak times

Depending on what time you arrive at the port, you might be joining hundreds or thousands of guests trying to board at the same time, creating long lines and lengthy waits. Many lines offer a window for the arrival time in an attempt to mitigate the crowds, but there are always some people trying to beat the system and sneak in early.

If you're eager to get on the ship early, reserve the earliest time slot available for your stateroom category. If you can't book a specific time, then plan to arrive at the terminal early -- when you know you can first begin to board your ship. When you board early in the process, you're less likely to encounter backups and you can get to the buffet or the shore excursions desk before most of your shipmates arrive.

Another way to beat the crowds and have a faster embarkation process is to arrive later in the day when most people are already on board the ship. Just be sure to find out the latest time you can check in and board because the gangways close long before the ship sets sail.

Stay organized

msc yacht club check in time

With the ever-changing COVID-19 regulations for cruise lines -- and destinations -- you'll need to know all the vaccine and testing requirements before booking your cruise. For example, some European countries still require that travelers from the U.S. are fully vaccinated (with a booster shot), even though they may not need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival. You also may need proof of vaccination -- and a booster shot -- to sail with some cruise lines.

Before embarkation day, organize hard copies of the required COVID-19 paperwork (negative COVID-19 test results, proof of vaccination and/or booster shot, a recovery letter from your doctor, etc.) -- or electronic records -- where they are easily accessible. Keep them with your passport (or other required forms of photo ID), boarding passes and other documents you'll need to board the ship. There's a good chance that you will have to show these documents more than once during the process, so keep them together in a handy spot.

Take your photo before embarkation day

Most photos taken at the port of embarkation aren't flattering, so plan to take a selfie -- or have a spouse or friend snap a photo -- at home to upload on your ship's app. Doing this in advance will save time and avoid the awkward moment of posing for a picture at the cruise terminal. Aim for a passport-like photo, with your face in the center of the shot, looking straight at the camera. Otherwise, the port agent might make you retake the photo at the terminal.

Be prepared to drop your bags at the terminal

Embarkation will be faster if you hand over your suitcases to the porters at the terminal, and only carry a backpack or small bag on board yourself. You won't have to lug large bags through the queues, hoist them onto the security X-ray machines or carry them up escalators.

You can speed up the drop-off process by being prepared. All cruise lines provide luggage tags; they either send the tags through the mail or send you an electronic file to print at home. No matter how you receive the labels for your bags, be sure to have them on your luggage with all the information filled out before handing them off to porters. Otherwise, you'll have to spend time at the port writing out your name and cabin number and affixing the tags to your bags. Fail to fill out the correct information, especially cabin number, and you'll waste time on the first day hunting down your lost luggage.

It's also customary to tip the porters a dollar or two per bag. Have tip money ready in hand, so you don't waste time hunting through your purse or pocket for small bills.

Know what's allowed to bring on the ship

All cruise lines have lists of items -- including certain types of beverages -- that are permissible to bring on board the ship. They also note those that are considered contraband. Your carry-on bags will go through a security X-ray machine at the port, so if you don't want to get pulled out of line so your drone, bottle of 20-year-old bourbon, steam iron or other forbidden items can be confiscated, then check to see what's allowed on board before you begin packing.

Make sure reusable water bottles are empty, and that nonalcoholic beverages are in acceptable containers and amounts. Some lines also limit the number of bottles of wine you can carry, so know the rules. Don't play with fate while trying to smuggle additional bottles of vino or items that aren't allowed on board. Getting held up at security will take precious time out of your first vacation day.

Pack a bag to entertain the kids

msc yacht club check in time

Little ones traveling with you may get antsy during the boring boarding process as you navigate your way through several checkpoints at the cruise terminal. With this in mind, pack a small bag with snacks, drinks, toys or an iPad to entertain and keep the kiddies content until you can reach your stateroom, get settled in and grab lunch. Parents know that a massive meltdown can derail your schedule and make everything take longer. Even without a tantrum, whiny children can make the embarkation process feel like it's taking forever, even if it's not.

Learn your stateroom number

It sounds so simple, but if you don't know your cabin number, this too can delay your embarkation process if you're fumbling around looking for where you'll be sleeping for the next week. Chances are that someone will ask you for your stateroom number during the boarding process. If you can't memorize it in advance, jot it down on a piece of paper and slip it into your pocket or put it in your notes on your smartphone -- anywhere that you can refer to it quickly. Your cabin number will not be printed on your cruise card for safety reasons.

Bottom line

The easiest way to guarantee a smooth and quick embarkation is with dedicated priority check-in that's offered with many suites and upper-tier cabins, to frequent cruisers or by purchasing a program that includes faster check-in as one of the perks.

If you're not up for splurging on the added expense, you can still navigate the embarkation process with a few simple tips to board the ship more quickly -- and get your cruise vacation started as soon as possible.

Everything you need to know about MSC Cruises cabins and suites

A relative newcomer in the North American market, MSC Cruises is equal parts elegant and kitschy. The line tends to appeal to a wide swath of cruisers, from Europeans who like to party into the wee hours of the morning to American families who book because of affordable fares and "kids sail free" pricing.

To satisfy its diverse passenger base, MSC offers accommodations to fit all types of travelers. Rooms include inexpensive inside cabins that sleep two people, midlevel staterooms with windows and balconies, and high-end suites that offer cruisers with larger budgets a private oasis in the form of the MSC Yacht Club .

A variety of connecting rooms and cabins with extra bunks accommodate larger groups and families who wish to share space.

Because your cruise cabin will be your home away from home for several days, it's important to book one that fits your needs. That's especially true if you're sharing it with several people.

Whether you're looking at an inside cabin for a cruise with friends, balcony accommodations for you and your significant other or a suite for your family, here TPG breaks down what you can expect when you book a room on one of MSC's ships.

For more cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

MSC Cruises cabin primer

MSC Cruises has become one of the fastest-growing lines in the cruise industry, with about two dozen ships in its fleet. The vessels fall into six classes : Lirica, Musica, Fantasia, Meraviglia, Seaside and World.

Although cabin offerings can vary from ship to ship and class to class, the standard types remain the same: inside, outside, balcony and suite.

Additionally, you'll find the same basic amenities in each room, unless otherwise noted below. They include two twin beds that can be joined to form a queen- or king-size bed; an in-cabin bathroom with a shower, a sink, a toilet and basic soap, shower gel and shampoo; a couple of nightstands; a chair or sofa; a desk/vanity; a closet; a safe; a hair dryer; a minifridge; a phone; USB outlets and a selection of both North American and European outlets.

On all ships except MSC Lirica, MSC Opera, MSC Sinfonia and MSC Armonia, you'll also find an interactive TV that allows you to view the daily schedule, check your onboard account and choose from a selection of live TV programs and movies.

Twice-daily room tidying is provided by a room steward assigned to each cabin, and room service is available throughout the day for an added fee.

One confusing aspect of MSC's bookings is that you'll have to select an experience package in addition to a cabin type. Package tiers determine things like your ability to choose a specific cabin and preferred dining time and whether you'll receive welcome amenities in your room. Certain cabin types are only available in conjunction with certain package experiences and vice versa. Those are noted in each respective section below.

Accessible cabins , including accommodations for wheelchair users, are available on every ship in MSC's fleet. In addition to more space, they feature wider doorways and lowered sinks and toilets in the bathrooms, as well as grab bars.

MSC Cruises' experience packages

Here's what you get when you book each of MSC's three experience packages, which determine the perks you'll receive on your sailing.

  • Accommodations
  • Complimentary food in the dining room and buffet
  • Broadway-style theater entertainment
  • Access to the onboard gym, pool and kids club
  • MSC Voyagers Club points
  • One for-fee change to your cruise booking (with some restrictions)
  • Drink package discount at time of booking
  • All Bella perks
  • Choice of specific cabin and location
  • One free change to your cruise booking (with some restrictions)
  • Ability to choose between early and late seating for dinner
  • Room service (complimentary for breakfast, but fees apply for other meals)
  • Discount on pre-cruise specialty dining package
  • All Fantastica and Bella perks
  • Flexible My Choice dining, which lets you eat at any time you choose between set hours
  • Free 24-hour room service delivery
  • Pillow menu
  • A welcome package, including Prosecco and chocolates
  • Complimentary access to your ship's solarium and thermal area
  • A 10% discount on all spa treatments purchased on board
  • Special Balinese massage offer when booked pre-cruise
  • Complimentary use of bathrobe and slippers
  • Priority boarding and luggage drop-off

Inside cabins on MSC Cruises ships

Inside cabins — rooms with no windows — are available on all ships in the MSC fleet. Ranging from 140 to 301 square feet (depending on the ship), they make for great sleeping because they're so dark. They're also ideal for passengers who are on a budget.

In addition to the standard amenities mentioned above, they provide room for anywhere from two to four passengers to sleep. (Rooms that sleep more than two feature bunks that pull down from the ceiling.)

These cabins are available with the line's Bella and Fantastica experiences.

If you're sailing solo, some MSC vessels offer cabins for one outfitted with a twin bed that converts into a couch. These interior studio accommodations are only available with the Bella package on MSC Meraviglia , MSC Bellissima and the line's World Class ships.

Ocean-view cabins on MSC Cruises ships

Ocean-view rooms are similar to insides in that they provide basic amenities — but with a view.

Offering 129 to 269 square feet of space (depending on the specific ship and ocean-view category), these staterooms allow you to see outside through a porthole or a window that doesn't open.

MSC's outside cabins are available to passengers who book Bella and Fantastica packages.

Additionally, if you're traveling with your family or another group, several of MSC Cruises' ships — particularly those in the Meraviglia and Seaside classes — feature space for as many as 10 passengers via a series of connecting rooms. Options are available at the ocean-view and balcony levels.

Balcony cabins on MSC Cruises ships

You might be surprised to discover that most of MSC Cruises' balcony cabins provide less interior square footage than what's available in inside or ocean-view staterooms.

Balcony rooms run anywhere from 129 to 205 square feet, but their key feature is, of course, a private balcony, which does add an extra 32 to 129 square feet, depending on the vessel and specific type of balcony room booked. These cabins are bookable in conjunction with MSC's Bella, Fantastica and Aurea experiences.

Although balcony cabins offer upgraded amenities, including MSC's brand of hand lotion and toiletries, they are largely the same as inside and ocean-view accommodations.

MSC's newest ships — including those in the Meraviglia, Seaside and World Classes — house connecting balcony rooms that can sleep up to 10 in the same group traveling together.

Additionally, on its World Class ships, the line has introduced inward-facing balconies, similar to the ones Royal Caribbean pioneered in 2009 with the debut of its Oasis Class vessels . On World Europa, for example, they overlook the ship's promenade, offering views of the activity below, rather than the ocean.

MSC Cruises suites

All ships in MSC's fleet have suites that can be booked as part of the Fantastica and Aurea packages, but it's Aurea that offers the largest number of perks, as outlined above.

The several types of suites vary by ship in terms of size and amenities. Some come with balconies, while others only offer floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows.

Junior Suites

Although this room type is listed as a suite, it's essentially a balcony cabin with a bit more space — 183 square feet of interior accommodation with a balcony that ranges from 140 to 183 square feet.

Standard suites include rooms with huge balconies larger than the cabin's interior space and ones with private whirlpool tubs. They run from 269 to 355 square feet, with balconies measuring 32 to 409 square feet.

Grand Suites

Coming in between 377 and 420 square feet, with balconies spanning from 32 to 495 square feet, Grand Suites — found on Seaside and World Class ships — come in two types. They include standard one-bedroom Grand Suites, as well as two-bedroom varieties.

The latter has one bedroom with a queen-size bed and another with two twins. It sleeps up to five passengers and offers two bathrooms — one with a shower and the other with a bathtub.

While most suites are designed for double occupancy, some suite accommodations on MSC Bellissima, MSC Grandiosa, MSC Virtuosa and MSC Magnifica can sleep up to five people.

MSC Yacht Club suites on MSC ships

All cabins located in the MSC Yacht Club — an exclusive, gated area on select ships — are called suites, even the smallest and least expensive, which don't have windows or balconies.

Yacht Club suite types range from insides to two-deck duplexes, all of which come with butler and concierge services, luxuriously appointed furnishings (such as real marble finishes, memory foam mattresses and Egyptian cotton sheets) and access to members-only restaurants, bars (alcohol is free there), lounges, pools and sun decks.

The Yacht Club features seven different types of rooms. Ships that have the MSC Yacht Club on board include MSC Bellissima, MSC Divina, MSC Fantasia, MSC Grandiosa, MSC Meraviglia, MSC Preziosa, MSC Seaside, MSC Seascape, MSC Seaview, MSC Seashore, MSC Splendida, MSC Virtuosa and MSC World Europa.

Note: Not all Yacht Clubs have the same suite types available.

MSC Yacht Club Interior Suites

Although these 161- to 226-square-foot cabins don't offer a view or fresh air, they are elegantly decorated and include all the Yacht Club benefits mentioned above.

MSC Yacht Club Deluxe Suites

These Yacht Club digs are the equivalent of a balcony cabin — but in a dedicated area that includes all the exclusive perks. They run 236 to 366 square feet and have balconies ranging from 54 to 86 square feet, so they also come with a bit more space, both inside and outdoors.

MSC Yacht Club Deluxe Grand Suites

Similarly, Deluxe Grand Suites are like the Yacht Club equivalent of booking a Grand Suite with more perks. Depending on the ship, they offer anywhere from 269 to 463 square feet of space, plus 65- to 129-square-foot balconies. Some Grand Suites also have two bedrooms instead of one. Further, these rooms on Seaside Class ships include bathrooms with bathtubs, as well as separate living areas.

MSC Yacht Club Duplex Suites

Rising two decks, MSC's duplex staterooms measure 495 to 635 square feet and come with 65- to 334-square-foot balconies. They feature living rooms with two-person sofa beds downstairs and master bedrooms upstairs, which also sleep two passengers.

Each of these accommodations comes complete with two walk-in closets and two bathrooms — one with a bathtub and one with a shower. Most duplexes on Meraviglia and World Class ships also have their own private whirlpool tubs.

MSC Yacht Club Executive and Family Suites

The line's Executive and Family Suites, available only on Fantasia Class vessels, are an excellent choice for anyone who wants to stay in the Yacht Club with a family or other group of more than two people.

This option, which is one type of suite (despite its confusing name), has space for up to five cruisers via a combination of bunk beds, sofa beds and beds that pull down from the ceiling, depending on the ship. The suites clock in at around 431 to 549 square feet, depending on the vessel.

The only drawback is that these staterooms have no balconies and no in-room dining areas, but they do include all the perks you'd find in Yacht Club cabins.

MSC Yacht Club Royal Suites

Although they only occupy one level, at 388 to 667 square feet, MSC's Yacht Club Royal Suites are right up there with the Duplex Suites in terms of space. They offer the second-largest amount of square footage after the Owner's Suites. They come with huge balconies comprising 355 to 753 square feet of outdoor area.

Additionally, bathrooms in these suites offer bathtubs on Fantasia, Meraviglia, Seaside and World Class ships, and the latter three have private whirlpool tubs, as well. All four classes' Royal Suites also include separate living room areas.

MSC Yacht Club Owner's Suites

The largest and most impressive of all MSC's cabins are the Owner's Suites found in the Yacht Club. Offering an impressive 840 to 1,119 square feet — larger than some land-based apartments — plus 269- to 670-square-foot balconies, they're some of the most luxurious rooms afloat.

Specific amenities vary by ship, but as an example, Owner's Suites on MSC World Europa offer floor-to-ceiling windows and walk-in closets. These accommodations on both the line's Seaside and World Class vessels also feature bathrooms with separate showers and bathtubs, as well as private whirlpool tubs and separate living room areas.

Bottom line

Although MSC Cruises' cabin types are straightforward, the line's add-on experiences can complicate things a bit.

Overall, what's key to remember is that MSC Cruises offers a wide variety of rooms and pricing to meet just about any budget or style of cruising. Each ship will offer accommodation choices from the least expensive, bare-bones interior rooms to the priciest suites, which come with butler and concierge services.

When you sail with MSC Cruises, you can expect function, style and comfort, regardless of the cabin type you book.

We will be sailing on January 2, and I am trying to determine what time to arrive at the port.  We are in Yacht club if this makes a difference.

Thanks so much.

My recommendation will be to board when you see fit starting as early as 10:30am.  As a YC guest you will be accomodated.

Check-in will start as early as 9:30 with the current passenger load at Port Canaveral.  That likely will not change much through at least January.  YC checkin will be as you please in terms of timing.  I get there at 9:30 and it’s not a problem.  I want as much YC time as possible.  There was only a short wait in the terminal for ship clearance to board.  Be aware that the surface parking lot around CT10 is under construction and NCL may still have their COVID testing tents up, so go slow and follow the signs.

KINGBOBOFTHENORTH

MSC has given me 3 different check-in times for my upcoming cruise over the past 3 weeks. Everytime I look it's different. I recommend you show-up when you show-up and they're not going to turn you away. On my last MSC cruise in August I had two different check-in times and I showed up when my transportation dropped me off. At no point did anyone ask what my check-in time was supposed to be. I just joined the queue and moved along from there.

If you could--would you please post how your check in went etc...

We've sailed out of Port C for other lines and Miami for MSC...(YC)

In Miami we looked for the tent and DH dropped me and the luggage at the ten and he parked the car. We did get stuck outside as there was a pax problem from previous cruise (security told us about it while onboard later) that delayed boarding for everyone.

Enjoy your YC experience. It is lovely and you will be well cared for.

Tip--- they work super hard so plan for tips above and beyond the MSC tips (in cash). Trust me...they work so hard and you will hate to leave... they are professional, kind and we just loved every minute.

We have B2Bs booked.. can't wait to be back

I can comment that on my past two check-ins at PCC- September and October on Divina.  On both I was in "steerage" (lol), went from greeting and initial document check to check in to glass of Nicolas Champagne in 30 minutes...and that included the long walk to get on the ship.  Easy peasy.

I would strongly recommend that you plan on arriving early (before 10:30).  You want to beat the shuttle buses from MCO.  The YC tent is right next to the escalator up to the checkin hall.  The dedicated parking garage for CT10 is about a 5 minute walk.  YC guests will be escorted from the tent through checkin by Pier Agents, not butlers.  Very few crew come ashore right now.  You will meet the butlers at the YC hospitality waiting area, no separate room right now.  CT10 is very well laid out.  In my opinion, superior to Miami right now.

Thanks

TY for this. Thats a very good pt

So unfortunate there is no room etc for YC processing/hospitality.

How do they handle newspapers, wristbands and YC checkin ?

At least with Miami we had bev and a place to sit while they processed fellow YC pax. And we appreciated being escorted by a very able man ...

On that sailing they took our temps- non touch remotely -- It was at the very beginning - first 2 weeks of Feb.

Our only hiccup at Miami was we got stuck at the turnstiles and there was no turnstile for YC...and someone in front of us had put their key card away--took forever for them to "find it"...

We are so looking fwd to being back on board. How are they doing the YC details and wristband distribution if there isn't a separate room/

TY so much for the intel. We greatly appreciate  it

1 minute ago, Fogfog said: TY for this. Thats a very good pt   So unfortunate there is no room etc for YC processing/hospitality.

All YC checkin is dedicated lines, dedicated agents.  There are non-alcoholic beverages and snacks in the separated waiting area. Your wait will be pretty short. Butlers and Asst Butlers attending.  YC Director will likely be in the area.  You will be escorted to the ship by Butlers.

Where do YC drop bags. At the regular place, or is there a separate spot?

There is a white tent outside for YC luggage.  Hand it directly to a YC porter, NOT the regular luggage porters.

Someone else said that at Canaveral you have to go inside the terminal to find the white tent. Any thoughts or is someone confused?

lovemycruisetoo

It’s right by the escalators that go to the terminal.

Same and same. It was very quick and easy.  Especially after my Galveston experience in March.

Someone is confused.  It is on the island between where the cars and vans drop people off.  As said, it is right by the escalators.

I'm not sure who said that.  All the references I see in this post say the tent is near or before the escalator, not after.

  16. What is the MSC Yacht Club, MSC Cruises' luxury suite area?

MSC Cruises was one of the first lines to introduce this ship-within-a-ship concept, along with Norwegian Cruise Line. Now other popular cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean, also have adopted it. The Yacht Club section on several of MSC Cruises' ships offers gated access to semi-private dining, butler service and more, but it comes at a price.

  21. Boarding times at Port Canaveral

My recommendation will be to board when you see fit starting as early as 10:30am. As a YC guest you will be accomodated. Check-in will start as early as 9:30 with the current passenger load at Port Canaveral. That likely will not change much through at least January. YC checkin will be as you please in terms of timing.
