TOBACCO KING: Indigenous billionaire businessman's lavish lifestyle Back to video

The company does hundreds of millions of dollars in business annually and Hill receives tens of millions of dollars in profits each year.

According to court documents filed in a support case against him, Hill pays no income tax on his self-reported income of $5.3 million in 2013 because of Indian Act exemptions.

Brittany Beaver, his ex-lover and mother of his son who is now receiving child support of $33,000 a month from Hill, has desperately tried to determine his true income and wealth, according to her filings.

She alleges Hill “repeatedly threatened her that she will never know his true income or net worth because he doesn’t file income tax returns and has connections that will assist him in hiding his assets from her.”

He denied saying this.

After two years of litigation, she says, Hill finally relented and provided further financial disclosure.

He revealed he makes $5.49 million but his total expenses surpass that at $7.4 million. His legal bills alone in 2017 were $1.2 million.

He listed several Canadian properties, including a $1.135 million Lee Ave. home in Kitchener (held in trust for their son) where his boy, Beaver, her new boyfriend and their child live.

According to his disclosure, Hill states his car collection is valued at $5.58 million, his 2010 Lazzara 76-foot yacht is worth $2.76 M and his 2013 Sea Ray Sundancer, $939,000.

Hill’s expansive garage has a fleet of luxury vehicles, including a Lamborghini, three Porsches, at least two Ferraris, four Rolls Royces, says Beaver.

He lives in a world of luxury and comfort that most people dream of and often takes his private jet to Vegas where he stays in the most expensive suites ($4,000 to $25,000 a night), according to court documents.

Hill parties with rock legend Rod Stewart, former boxing champ Mike Tyson, actorss Tia Carrere and Emmanuel Lewis, Trailer Park Boys and rapper Snoop Dogg, who recorded a track with Hill’s rapper son Josh that became controversial because it referred to “pocahotties.”

While Hill and Beaver were involved romantically, he lavished her with expensive gifts, frequent travel (sometimes with him, but often without him) and shopping sprees, according to the court records.

In happier times, the couple stayed at the largest suite in a Bahamas resort, which cost $20,000 a night. That figure is only slightly less than Hill’s monthly child support payments for his son.

Hill has five other children by four different women — Joshua, Ryan, Jasmine, Gabriella and Jordan, all of whom he financially supports.

Hill either owns or has an interest in a private 10-seater plan, which Beaver and her mother travelled in, she stated in an affidavit.

Hill denies owning a jet or helicopter, saying GRE formerly leased a jet that he accessed. He denied being a billionaire and asserted no one, including himself, has “seemingly unlimited financial resources.”

Beaver also alleges Hill has an 18,000 sq. ft. Bahamas mansion, where her son stayed in December 2014 and December 2015.

Hill also possesses “multi-million dollar mansions” in Los Angeles, Atlanta and Miami, she alleges.

None of these properties were mentioned in Hill’s financial disclosure.

Hill also paid for Beaver and a friend to vacation in Costa Rica for two weeks in February 2010, another trip to Hawaii for a week in July that year and a two-week vacation for her and their son to Disney World in Orlando, Fla., in August 2012.

While Hill gave gifts and trips freely and paid his son’s private school tuition of $25,000 a year, his ex alleges he rarely gave their son the most precious commodity of all — his time.

Beaver claims despite her attempts to encourage Hill to foster a relationship with his son, the father admitted in 2016 he only sees their son once every three to six months for a few hours.

Hill also allegedly admitted he didn’t visit the boy in the hospital when he was a year old and suffering from pneumonia.

PROVINCE KEEPING TABS ON INDIGENOUS CHALLENGE TO FAMILY LAW

First, he was asserting his right as an individual, instead of as an authorized representative of the community, which is impermissible.

The second ground was that this issue is not justiciable, meaning it’s not an issue a court can decide. Instead, this matter should be negotiated between government and Indigenous groups.

The third ground is the attornment issue — a process Hill participated in before the Ontario Superior Court. Brittany Beaver’s lawyers and Justice Chappel agreed that once Hill attorned, he couldn’t then decide to pick his Indigenous system instead.

The fourth ground was that his case wasn’t properly pleaded or argued to be considered. It has been amended five times to shore up this weakness.

The MAG has weighed in on the attornment issue solely but, stunningly, hasn’t written a word in defence of its own legislation in its factum.

And surprisingly, the MAG hasn’t commented on the other three reasons Chappel cited in dismissing Hill’s case for self-government under Haudenosaunee culture for family law.

If Hill succeeds, it means Indigenous people living on reserves could opt out of the Ontario Family Law system, thus invalidating current custodial and support orders. Anxious parents would be plunged into a legal limbo — without any certain court orders.

And incredibly, this situation would occur without the province’s lawyers stepping up to support its own laws.

“I think it’s fair to say that we expect the government to defend its own statutory scheme,” said prominent family lawyer Stephen Grant, who is not involved in this case.

“This is clearly the fundamental role of the Attorney General, particularly in constitutional cases,” said Grant, who last year won the Ontario Bar Association Award for Excellence in Family law as well as the Advocacy Society Medal, the highest distinction conveyed upon a lawyer from any practice area.

“I see that it engages access to the family justice system, rights and obligations of child and spousal support and the like, not specifically for this particular family but for all First Nations’ families, both prospectively and, arguably, retroactively,” said Grant.

“In other words, it appears to be a case of general application, affecting the rights and obligations of claimant and recipient spouses on their own behalf and their children as well, at least in Ontario if not the other provinces.”

Grant said the courts must decide this complex conflict of the competing interests of the Constitution and the Charter.

“It’s not up to the AG, as opposed to the judiciary, to reconcile the competing interests of the Constitution and Charter but rather to advocate for the proper interpretation and enforcement of its own legislation,” said Grant, who has practised for 44 years.

Kenny Hill’s State-of-the-Art Modern Legacy Model Classical Guitar

Kenny Hill Legacy model classical guitar

Most luthiers play at least a little guitar, but few are as musically proficient as Kenny Hill, who spends as much time composing and performing as he does overseeing the skilled artisans at work in his Ben Lomond, California, workshop. One of the great classical makers, Hill blends traditional and contemporary elements in instruments that are uncommonly playable and dynamically voiced.

Kenny Hill Legacy-model-classical-guitar-Maggie King-Hill Guitar Company

This 2019 Legacy model, the luthier’s main guitar, is a prime example of his company’s top-tier offerings. Its modern features include a lattice-braced cedar/spruce double top, adjustable two-way truss rod, twin sound ports, an ergonomic body design, and True Temperament frets. Old-growth Brazilian rosewood back and sides, French polish finish, and engraved Rodgers tuners are among the aspects that give it a time-honored feel. “It’s all the things I want in an instrument,” Hill says. “The experimenting has been going on for more than 30 years. I have absorbed a lot of tradition, but I have also cultivated it and morphed it into a 21st-century instrument that both retains and enhances the beauty of classical guitar sound and feel.”

The frets, conceived of by the Swedish inventor Anders Thidell in 2005, might look as if they belong more in a cubist painting than on an actual guitar. But they help the instrument sound more in-tune than standard frets, especially for complex chords, without any adjustment in technique required of the player. Hill says, “I do have to try to explain the concept to almost everyone who notices it and try to do it in 25 words or fewer. I’m still working on that.”

French polish is a delicate finish, susceptible to damage from heat, moisture, and fingernails, but even so, Hill’s guitar has a surprising amount of wear for being such a young instrument. The soundboard sports a number of prominent scratches, imprinted by nails both human and animal. “I’m pretty indiscriminate about whom I loan my guitars to,” Hill admits. “And my cats sometimes have boundary issues.”  hillguitar.com

For those of us in the guitar business who have a focus on classical guitars, Kenny Hill’s contribution to the classical guitar market is considerable.  Kenny Hill has the rare distinction of being both an outstanding player and an outstanding luthier.  Accordingly, in terms of construction and voicing, Kenny’s instruments greatly benefit from his insights and sensibilities as a highly trained guitarist.  These days, he is perhaps most associated with the concert level guitars he builds in his California shop and, on the other end of the spectrum, his high quality Chinese-produced New World line, built in a shop that he personally established.  He was also enlisted by the Cordoba Music Group to train their builders in producing the Master Series models, which are built in California (we also detect his influence in Chinese-made Cordoba models).  Yet, it could be argued that Kenny Hill’s most significant achievement was the production of hand-made replicas of famous builders (e.g., Ignacio Fleta, Miguel Rodriguez, Antonio de Torres, Louis Panormo, Jose Ramirez, and Herman Hauser).  Produced in the 1990s and early 2000s in both Felton, CA and Paracho, Mexico, these replicas filled a historically vacant and difficult-to-fill gap in the market, that being the “conservatory-level” guitar (i.e., a somewhat affordable guitar that can perform to the standards of a serious player who otherwise might not be prepared to invest in a concert level instrument).

As the production of Master Series replica models came to a close in mid ‘00s, Kenny began concentrating on concert level guitars.  Though the Performance Model represented the entry level for this line, in many ways it also represented a continuation of Kenny’s commitment to performance value—indeed, we’ve found the Performance model to be competitive with more expensive offerings from other top builders at a much more modest price point.  Along that line, the Performance model boasts many features that are all the rage in the classical guitar market these days.  Chief among these are its double top—a sandwich of European spruce (on the exterior) and Western Red cedar (on the interior) with a middle layer of Nomex—and its lattice bracing.  This combination of a thin, but highly resilient top with a lightweight bracing pattern that is less longitudinally concentrated, creates more elastic behavior in the soundboard, as well as and a more uniform/concentric distribution of string energy.  The result is a guitar with an incredibly powerful and bold presence, profound dynamic range, and an exhilarating, high-velocity response.  It is important to note that such hot-rodded, lightweight top construction can indeed produce the tremendous power and projection that many modern players seek, but this front end power can often come at the expense of tone color and vocal nuance. Yet, Kenny Hill has seemingly achieved a difficult level of acoustic alchemy in the case the Performance Model, where the player is greeted by a highly refined and articulate voicing that readily delivers an immensely satisfying balance of power and color.  No doubt, this best-of-both-worlds tone can be attributed to Kenny’s experience as a player informing his decisions as a builder, rather than some dabbling in medieval mysticism or a sly greasing of the devil’s palm; but, regardless of his source of inspiration, the Performance Model is a standout value in the entryway to the world of modern concert-level classical guitars.

As evidenced by the previous owner’s decision to house the guitar in a BAM flight case, this 2015 Performance Spruce was a well-kept guitar.  It was, however, actively played, and it has therefore picked up some signs of wear that are consistent with regular and respectful use.  There are some light nail marks on top that represent the majority of this guitar’s cosmetic wear; yet,  the most significant top wear is a dent on the treble side of the center seam near bottom of the guitar. There are some similar nail marks on back of neck, but these are all quite shallow. Finally, the finish has worn down on both the top and top edge of the side at the lower bout, corresponding to where the player’s right forearm makes contact with the guitar’s body—this is quite common with French-polished shellac finishes, which are inherently light and delicate.  This section of wear is fairly small, but it is evident upon closer inspection; and, while it could be improved or possibly eliminated entirely by re-padding/re-applying shellac, we have elected to leave it as-is, as the wear is not extensive. Otherwise, this fine instrument has no structural wear or repairs to note. - EXCELLENT Condition

New World Guitars

New World Guitars, founded by famed luthier Kenny Hill, are built in China.

From the New World website : ” In 1995 Kenny Hill traveled to Paracho, Mexico to begin building and importing the best quality guitars possible. Establishing the MASTER SERIES as a successful line of affordable hand-made instruments, he moved production to China in the early 2000’s establishing the NEW WORLD brand.

Kenny traveled to each manufacturing site, trained staff, overseeing the design, technique and quality control of each model. Kenny continues to visit production sites periodically to review guitar production. This enables us to provide remarkable guitars at remarkable prices.

The techniques and materials used to build New World Guitars are the same used on Hill Guitars in California. All instruments are given their final set up and adjustment in our shop in California before being offered for sale. We think you’ll agree we bring you traditional old world quality in our New World Guitars. “

Kenny Chesney fans dock boats along Allegheny River as concert approaches

JoAnne Klimovich Harrop

Country music star Kenny Chesney is a boater. His song “Guys Named Captain” begins: “Guys named Captain are always characters … Livin’ by the water, somewhere in the Americas South or Central or some Virgin Island.”

Or Pittsburgh?

Beginning three weeks ago, boaters have been anchored along the Allegheny River on Pittsburgh’s North Shore — some two and three deep — waiting for Chesney’s concert at 5 p.m. Saturday at Heinz Field.

And they don’t just park the boats to save a spot — they pretty much live on them leading up to the big event. The vessels have many of the comforts of home: comfortable beds, bathrooms, kitchens and big-screen televisions.

Many of the “captains” become friends.

“Kenny is a big boater,” said Joe Quealy, 53, of Latrobe on Wednesday afternoon. “There have been times he’s come down here. He even sang on one of the boats. I don’t think he will this year because of covid.”

Quealy said he brought his Four Winns boat from the Strip District dock on May 20. He stays for a few days and then a friend or two comes down with their boat to save the space, and they alternate so that no one person stays for three weeks. He will be there until the concert since he took off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from work.

Quealy said Chesney owns a yacht and that song “Guys Named Captain” refers to the boaters who sit along the dock, about 200 of whom will be lined up on the water by the time he takes the stage.

There have been concerns at past Chesney concerts about the mountains of garbage left behind by concertgoers, but that’s not a problem with the boating community, said Drew Hill, 32, of Plum. He said they don’t leave a mess for the city to clean up.

“We are respectful,” said Hill, who has been anchored along the Allegheny River for almost a week. He is a traveling cardiovascular intensive care nurse, so he scheduled his next assignment for July.

A few of the boats had to move closer to PNC Park for two days to allow room for the American Countess steamboat, part of the American Queen Steamboat Co., which was in Pittsburgh from Monday until Tuesday evening.

5132031_web1_ptr-boat-5

Hill, who keeps his boat at the Sharpsburg Islands Marina, said they arrive days before the concert because of the festive atmosphere.

“It’s a Pittsburgh holiday when Kenny Chesney comes to town,” Hill said. “Country music fans love to be part of this atmosphere.”

During the week, they listen to all genres of music, and bands often come by and perform. Most of the boats are equipped for his 35-foot Carver Flybridge, which he calls a small apartment on the water. It has can sleep six and has a kitchen and bathroom, including a shower. He has a generator, and the refrigerator runs on a battery.

He named it “Can’t Be Shore.”

While he can cook in his kitchen, he prefers to grill out on the deck. He said each boater takes a turn making breakfast, lunch or dinner for the other boaters. They also frequent some of the North Shore restaurants.

“We all look out for one another,” he said. “Some will go into the concert, and others will just enjoy being here with everyone. There is nothing else like this experience of having a party on the water with other boaters.”

The area where the boats are is public, so they can be there free of charge. Most will stay until Sunday.

“We’ve missed it the past two years because of covid, so by Friday there will be more than 100 boats down here,” Hill said.

Justin Turk, 37, of North Huntingdon has had tickets for two years. He was in a spot near Heinz Field late Friday through Sunday and moved closer to PNC Park to make room for the American Countess.

“That big boat hadn’t even turned around and I was back in my original spot,” said Turk, who is self-employed.

He traveled from the Greene Cove Yacht Club in Greene County, where he keeps the boat. He said the Chesney concert is one of the bigger boating events in the city, adding that it’s a big party but it’s under control.

5132031_web1_ptr-boat-7

Turk owns a 40-foot Silverton Convertible. He didn’t know Hill until he docked his boat by him. Now, they’re friends.

“We have tailgated for the concert before, but boating is different,” Turk said. “Pittsburgh is a beautiful city, and you can’t see on land what you can see from your boat. The sunset reflecting on the water is breathtaking. There is a special connection among boaters — you can’t get this atmosphere anywhere else.”

Chesney’s tour was postponed for the past two years because of the pandemic. The “Hear and Now” tour kicked off April 23 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. Tickets are still available, starting at $35.

Take a Peek at Kenny Chesney’s Boat (Amazing Yacht)

Kenny Chesney’s boat obsession has been a multi-year journey and he certainly loves living the “no shoes” lifestyle. There has been plenty of internet controversy over Kenny’s boats. Some sources reported that the boat featured in his “Come on Over” music video was a loaner boat and that Kenny still owns a Sea Ray boat. Other sources report that his latest boat is a 63’ Riva Virtus that features 2 large sundecks, 4 cabins, and reportedly has a price tag new of over $3M.

After some research, it appears that Kenny sold his Sea Ray boat to a Yacht Charter company in the Virgin Islands and currently does own a Riva Yacht that is indeed featured in his music video. However, Kenny’s boat is the much larger Riva Domino that has a size range of 86′ – 92′. The boat is a sleek stunner in the music video and a new version of this boat fully loaded is over $6M. Watch the music video featuring Kenny’s Riva Yacht, check out details of his current Yacht, and see his prior boat history below.

Kenny Chesney’s Come Over Music Video (Featuring his 86′ Yacht)

The music video was filmed in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with some ocean scenes near Miami Beach, Florida. Chesney released the video in 2012 and has described the music video as a “classy booty call.” His 86′ Riva Yacht plays a leading role in this video.

The lyrics for “Come Over” were written by Sam Hunt, Shane McAnally, and Josh Osborne. The video features a cameo from Kenny’s dog, Poncho, standing on a paddleboard with Chesney.  Courtney McCann (a model from Bakersfield, CA) stars as Kenny’s love interest in the music video.

Sammy Hagar Provides Proof of Kenny Chesney’s Boat…

Rock star Sammy Hagar tweeted a photo of Chesney reaching from one yacht to another for a plate of chef Emeril Lagasse’s ribs (Tweeted on Feb 12, 2017).  This provides some photo proof that Kenny does own the boat featured in his music video.  Apparently, Sammy Hagar and celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse were cruising off the coast of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., (Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017) during Emeril’s charity fishing tournament. They ran into Kenny Chesney on his multi-million-dollar Riva yacht.

Sammy and Kenny Chesney

Sammy made the  following post on his website, “An hour into the boat ride we saw this big gorgeous gunmetal gray 86ft Riva with a few beautiful people on it—I looked closer and noticed it was Kenny Chesney! I screamed at him and he stopped, backed up, and we had a couple high-fives, a toast, and Emeril handed over to Kenny a big plate of barbecue ribs and a jar of about a half pound of beautiful caviar—can you believe this sh*t!? We said goodbye and then Kenny showed up at the event later that night at the Marina Club House, and jumped on stage to sing a really soft version of “Eagles Fly.” Vic and I played an acoustic set for over an hour, and Kari joined in for “One Sip,” “When the Sun Don’t Shine,” and “All We Need Is An Island”—it was an unbelievably satisfying and successful event!  Afterwards, Kenny hung out and we polished off a couple bottles of Da’ kine, what a night!”

Kenny Chesney’s Boat History (prior Sea Ray Cruiser)

Kenny’s professed love of boats goes way back in his career.  He recorded a song titled ‘Boats’ for his ‘Lucky Old Sun’ album.  The song lyrics include, “”vessels of freedom/harbors of healing”.  Kenny grew up in Knoxville, TN in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains and believes that a prior ancestor must have been a beach bum.   Kenny stated in a prior interview, “ I’ve always felt a certain sense of peace and freedom on the boat that I don’t get on the tour bus. On the road, there’s always something to do and some place to be. My life is full of expectations. But on the boat, I can take a deep breath and be myself. ”

Kenny used two own two Sea Rays over 50′ and one of his boats “Take It Easy 2” is now a  rental Yacht .  The website for the Yacht charter shows the below image and description of the two boats.

52’ LOA Take It Easy 2, are both Sea Ray Express Cruisers. Each gorgeous yacht can host up to 12 passengers in total lavish comfort. Both are wonderfully appointed for the even most discriminating traveler making them the perfect St. John or St. Thomas boat charter for a private day trip around the US and British Virgin Islands.
