Meet Marco. A man with a dream and a veteran of the Croatian nautical tourism industry for over 30 years. A current owner of several cruise ships operating in the Adriatic, it was always his ambition when the time was right to deliver the finest modern eco-yacht available for private charter.

Captain: Filip Brekalo

FILIP BREKALO - CAPTAIN Captain Filip was born in 1985 in Split, Croatia. At a young age, he started working on fishing and excursion ships, so he has had at least 20 years of nautical experience. He finished his education at the University of Split as the officer of navigational watch on a ship of 500 GT or more and additionally attained the master of a ship up to 500 GT on near costal voyages and the yacht master certificate. Over the years, he has undergone continuous training and attained many professional certificates. His first employment was aboard of a container vessel sailing around world. Since 2013, he has been working as a captain on various small cruise ships sailing along the entire Adriatic coast. In 2019, he and his crew (m/s Pacific) received an award for the best crew of mini cruise ships in Croatia. He also has experience in yacht transfers. His hobbies are skiing and rafting. In addition to being a captain, Filip is a ski instructor, football referee, and rafting instructor. He was the Croatian national representative in rafting and a silver medallist at the European championship. He is married with 1 child. Filip speaks Croatian and English NEMANJA SAVIC - CHEF A graduate of the Hotel Management School Serbia, Nemanja's chef career started in the hotel Avala in Budva in 2007. From there he has worked for the most prestigious hotel brands in Serbia including a position of a head chef at the United States Embassy in Belgrade. He is a very versatile chef who does not dare to push the boundaries. He loves exploring the local markets in search for his ideas, he is very keen on promoting organic productions and encourages working with the local producers. His specialty is ‘Beef Wellington’ and any of fish dishes done using freshly caught fish in the Adriatic. In his spare time, Nemanja likes travelling and exploring the world’s cuisines. MARINA MUSULIN - CHIEF STEWARDESS Marina joined Life is Good last summer. Marina's background is actually in acting and he has a bit of 'celebrity' status locally. She has a MA degree in Tourism Management as well. She is a very creative person, and understands the importance of small details. On a recent charter, she surprised one of the guests with a handwritten local dish served on board recipe (that the guests loved so much) sealed with a locally grown Orchid, Marina would not just give them a recipe on a piece of paper! She loves surprising the guests with small details all the time. She speaks English and Spanish. MARIN JELIC - BARMAN Marin was born in Germany but his parents took him as a child back to Croatia to a small town of Stobrec where he spent his childhood. A very communicative person and a passion for travel led him to study Travel and Hospitality. After graduating, he started working for some of the top bars and cafes on the Adriatic where he acquired excellent hospitality skills. He loves sport and is an avid football player. Marin speaks English, Croatian and a bit of German.

At a young age, he started working on fishing and excursion ships, so he has had at least 20 years of nautical experience. He finished his education at the University of Split as the officer of navigational watch on a ship of 500 GT or more and additionally attained the master of a ship up to 500 GT on near costal voyages and the yacht master certificate. Over the years, he has undergone continuous training and attained many professional certificates. <br /> <br /> His first employment was aboard of a container vessel sailing around world. Since 2013, he has been working as a captain on various small cruise ships sailing along the entire Adriatic coast. In 2019, he and his crew (m/s Pacific) received an award for the best crew of mini cruise ships in Croatia. He also has experience in yacht transfers.<br /> His hobbies are skiing and rafting. In addition to being a captain, Filip is a ski instructor, football referee, and rafting instructor. He was the Croatian national representative in rafting and a silver medallist at the European championship. He is married with 1 child. Filip speaks Croatian and English<br /> <br /> NEMANJA SAVIC - CHEF <br /> A graduate of the Hotel Management School Serbia, Nemanja's chef career started in the hotel Avala in Budva in 2007. From there he has worked for the most prestigious hotel brands in Serbia including a position of a head chef at the United States Embassy in Belgrade. He is a very versatile chef who does not dare to push the boundaries. He loves exploring the local markets in search for his ideas, he is very keen on promoting organic productions and encourages working with the local producers. <br /> His specialty is ‘Beef Wellington’ and any of fish dishes done using freshly caught fish in the Adriatic. In his spare time, Nemanja likes travelling and exploring the world’s cuisines. <br /> <br /> <br /> MARINA MUSULIN - CHIEF STEWARDESS <br /> Marina joined Life is Good last summer. Marina's background is actually in acting and he has a bit of 'celebrity' status locally. She has a MA degree in Tourism Management as well. She is a very creative person, and understands the importance of small details. On a recent charter, she surprised one of the guests with a handwritten local dish served on board recipe (that the guests loved so much) sealed with a locally grown Orchid, Marina would not just give them a recipe on a piece of paper! She loves surprising the guests with small details all the time. She speaks English and Spanish.<br /> <br /> <br /> MARIN JELIC - BARMAN <br /> Marin was born in Germany but his parents took him as a child back to Croatia to a small town of Stobrec where he spent his childhood. A very communicative person and a passion for travel led him to study Travel and Hospitality. After graduating, he started working for some of the top bars and cafes on the Adriatic where he acquired excellent hospitality skills. He loves sport and is an avid football player. The stunning sun deck has everything guests need to soak up the sun. The unique design incorporates multiple circular booth seats, a bar with bar stool seating, and a fabulous jacuzzi tub.

The main aft deck features a large dining table, protected from the elements by the sundeck overhang above. The deck looks over the hydraulic swim platform below, which brings guests even closer to the water and provides convenient access to water toys and tenders.

The main salon features an open plan layout, with unique design features such as a Swarovski crystal laden dining table, as well as a large buffet area for resting platters. There is a lounge area with a large curved couch, as well as a well-equipped bar area, complete with bar stools and large wine rack.

Yacht Charter Accommodation

Accommodation is for 12 people across 6 cabins, including a fantastic Master cabin. There is additional capacity for a professional and dedicated crew of 7. The spacious, full-beam Master cabin features a large central bed, and overhead is a beautiful light fitting which makes the ceiling section look like a starry night sky. The shower in the ensuite bathroom also features a wonderful design choice, with one wall dotted with Swarovski crystals, making it glitter beautifully in the light. The remaining cabins are all very spacious and beautifully decorated, and feature ensuite bathrooms and plenty of storage. Some cabins can be converted to twins instead of double, to allow for a variety of family arrangements.

FILIP BREKALO - CAPTAIN Captain Filip was born in 1985 in Split, Croatia. At a young age, he started working on fishing and excursion ships, so he has had at least 20 years of nautical experience. He finished his education at the University of Split as the officer of navigational watch on a ship of 500 GT or more and additionally attained the master of a ship up to 500 GT on near costal voyages and the yacht master certificate. Over the years, he has undergone continuous training and attained many professional certificates. His first employment was aboard of a container vessel sailing around world. Since 2013, he has been working as a captain on various small cruise ships sailing along the entire Adriatic coast. In 2019, he and his crew (m/s Pacific) received an award for the best crew of mini cruise ships in Croatia. He also has experience in yacht transfers. His hobbies are skiing and rafting. In addition to being a captain, Filip is a ski instructor, football referee, and rafting instructor. He was the Croatian national representative in rafting and a silver medallist at the European championship. He is married with 1 child. Filip speaks Croatian and English NEMANJA SAVIC - CHEF A graduate of the Hotel Management School Serbia, Nemanja´s chef career started in the hotel Avala in Budva in 2007. From there he has worked for the most prestigious hotel brands in Serbia including a position of a head chef at the United States Embassy in Belgrade. He is a very versatile chef who does not dare to push the boundaries. He loves exploring the local markets in search for his ideas, he is very keen on promoting organic productions and encourages working with the local producers. His specialty is ‘Beef Wellington’ and any of fish dishes done using freshly caught fish in the Adriatic. In his spare time, Nemanja likes travelling and exploring the world’s cuisines. MARINA MUSULIN - CHIEF STEWARDESS Marina joined Life is Good last summer. Marina´s background is actually in acting and he has a bit of ´celebrity´ status locally. She has a MA degree in Tourism Management as well. She is a very creative person, and understands the importance of small details. On a recent charter, she surprised one of the guests with a handwritten local dish served on board recipe (that the guests loved so much) sealed with a locally grown Orchid, Marina would not just give them a recipe on a piece of paper! She loves surprising the guests with small details all the time. She speaks English and Spanish. MARIN JELIC - BARMAN Marin was born in Germany but his parents took him as a child back to Croatia to a small town of Stobrec where he spent his childhood. A very communicative person and a passion for travel led him to study Travel and Hospitality. After graduating, he started working for some of the top bars and cafes on the Adriatic where he acquired excellent hospitality skills. He loves sport and is an avid football player. Marin speaks English, Croatian and a bit of German.

When the US targeted Russia’s oligarchs after the invasion of Ukraine, the trail of assets kept leading to our own backyard. Not only had our nation become a haven for shady foreign money, but we were also incubating a familiar class of yacht-owning, industry-dominating, resource-extracting billionaires. In the  January + February 2024  issue of our magazine, we investigate the rise of American Oligarchy—and what it means for the rest of us. You can read all the pieces  here .

The luxury yacht may be the world’s most exclusive form of transportation. But there are only a hundred-some that meet the definition of a gigayacht—a pleasure craft 295 feet or longer. Their opaque ownership records offer a glimpse of modern wealth and power: Over two dozen are linked to Gulf royals, businessmen, or states, and 20 to citizens (past or current) of the former Soviet Union. At least 23 have reportedly belonged to Americans, including founders of Microsoft, Netscape, Amazon, WhatsApp, and Snapchat. The widow of a German retailer who thrived under Hitler owned one; a UK tax exile and a Formula 1 dad still do. Yugoslav strongman Tito’s old yacht makes the list; Dominican dictator Trujillo’s does too. Take a cruise through the history of the vessels and their—somewhat—more modest sister ships.

1895: Nineteen years before World War I, the future King Edward VII of England punches his nephew, Kaiser Wilhelm II, in the face, after the German’s 121-foot yacht, Meteor II , defeats the royal Britannia in a race off the Isle of Wight.

1954: Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis ushers in an era of postwar one-upmanship with his 325-foot Christina O . It features a pool that converts into a dance floor, furniture made from whale foreskin, and pornographic carvings.

1963: During his final birthday party aboard the presidential yacht Sequoia , JFK chases future Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee’s wife, Antoinette, into the bathroom and gropes her. “I guess I was pretty surprised, but I was kind of flattered, and appalled, too,” she says later. 1988: Donald Trump acquires Nabila , which previously belonged to the Saudi arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi and was featured in the James Bond film Never Say Never Again . He renames it Trump Princess , adds a disco, and changes the helipad’s “H” to a “T.”

1991: After one of Trump’s casinos files for bankruptcy, he sells Trump Princess to his bank—which flips it to a Saudi prince. A new yacht, the Trump Princess II , which he boasted would be “something in excess of 400 feet long, closer to 500 feet,” is never built.

British publisher Robert Maxwell’s body is found in the Atlantic Ocean, where he had been cruising on a 180-footer named for his daughter—the Lady Ghislaine . The vessel is eventually resold to Anna Murdoch, Rupert’s second wife.

1994: At a cocktail party on the oligarch Petr Aven’s yacht in the Caribbean, Boris Berezovsky meets Roman Abramovich, calling him a “nice boy who wanted to discuss commercial projects.” He and Abramovich begin working together to acquire Sibneft, a Russian state oil company.

1997: Construction ends on The Limited and Victoria’s Secret owner Les Wexner’s ­316-foot Limitless . The project was overseen by his good friend Jeffrey Epstein.

1999: Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison buys the 191-foot Izanami from a Japanese seller. He changes the name to Ronin , he said later , after “the local newspapers started pointing out that Izanami was ‘I’m a Nazi’ spelled backwards.”

2001: Months before Enron files for bankruptcy, former CEO Jeffrey Skilling asks a company executive for advice on finding a yacht broker. “This industry is known for crooks and thieves,” he warns Skilling.

2002: House Majority Whip Tom DeLay (R-Texas) promises to strip “corporate kingpins of their ill-gotten gains,” after scandals rock Enron and WorldCom. “We’re coming after the yacht.”

2003: DeLay charges donors $500,000 a pop for tickets to a yacht cruise.

2005: Ellison shoots down rumors he issued orders midconstruction to have his newest yacht, the 454-foot Rising Sun , extended to outdo Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s recently launched 414-foot Octopus .

Rep. Duke Cunningham (R-Calif.) pleads guilty to federal bribery charges after being caught living rent-free on a yacht, called the Duke-Stir , that was moored in Washington, DC, and owned by a defense contractor.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s 531-foot Dubai surpasses Prince Abdulaziz as the world’s longest yacht.

2006: Media mogul Barry Diller reveals the world’s longest sailing yacht, the 305-foot Eos , whose prow features a 9-foot-tall sculpture of his wife, Diane von Furstenberg.

2007: Diller opens a Manhattan corporate headquarters­­ at a Frank Gehry­–designed building that itself has been likened to a sailboat . It’s across the street from where Eos ties up.

2008: George Osborne, the No. 2 official in the UK’s Conservative Party, relaxes on Russian aluminum magnate Oleg Deripaska’s yacht while vacationing with his family in Greece. He denies an accusation that he solicited funds, explaining in a statement that they discussed “Russian history” and drank tea.

2009: As his marriage falls apart, Tiger Woods retreats to a 155-foot yacht called Privacy .

2010: Abramovich’s new ship, Eclipse , surpasses Dubai as the world’s longest yacht. The 533-foot vessel features a submarine, anti-missile systems, and lasers to thwart paparazzi .

2011: During an unsuccessful suit seeking $5 billion he believed Abramovich owed him from the sale of Sibneft, an exiled Berezovsky claims that his former partner helped purchase the yacht Olympia for Vladimir Putin. When the BBC publishes a supporting account from another Russian businessman five years later, Abramovich’s lawyers dismiss the allegation as “a rehash of speculation and rumours.”

2012: As GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney faces criticism for holding investment funds in the Cayman Islands, his campaign invites donors to party on Cracker Bay . The ship, owned by the founder of The Villages retirement community, flies the Cayman Islands’ flag.

2013: UAE leader Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan launches the 593-foot Azzam , surpassing the Eclipse .

2014: The Wall Street Journal reports that Ellison has basketball hoops on “at least two of his yachts” and had someone follow in a smaller boat “to retrieve balls that go overboard.”

2016: Allen’s Tatoosh drags its anchor through a protected zone in the Cayman Islands, destroying 14,000 square feet of coral.

2017: After leaving office, Barack and Michelle Obama retreat to the South Pacific aboard David Geffen’s yacht, where they’re joined by Oprah, Tom Hanks, and Bruce Springsteen.

Abramovich’s business partner, Eugene Shvidler, blocks views of the Statue of Liberty while anchoring his 370-foot Le Grand Bleu in New York Harbor for a month.

The most powerful Lexus ever is actually a $5 million yacht

The 2,000 horsepower, 68-foot long yacht accommodates 15 people and has six beds.

It seems Lexus has decided to leave us landlubbers behind and take to the seas . The auto maker just unveiled its new flagship: a 2,000 horsepower, 68-foot long yacht with a 1,849-gallon fuel tank, accommodations for 15 people and six beds.

The Lexus LY 680 (of course LY stands for Luxury Yacht) is the next generation of Lexus’ foray into big ol’ boats that started with the LY 650 back in 2018 , according to a release from Toyota . If you’re the kind of person who has the means for a Lexus LY 680, be prepared to fork over about $5.1 million. There’s also the small caveat that you’ve got to be in Japan to order one through Toyota Marine, Automotive News reports. I know, I know. That’s tough to hear.

Outside the LY 680 is wrapped in a very cool copper and silver paint scheme. It actually looks very similar to the rose gold color you can get on the Lexus LC500 . It’s quite sleek-looking, as far as yachts go. Inside is where the real good stuff is. You’ll find all sorts of lounge sofas, high-gloss paneling and other appointments designed by Lexus with the help of Italian styling company Nuvolari Lendard, according to AutoNews .

The second deck of the LY 680 (called the flybridge by nautically-inclined folks ) has apparently been extended by about 4.5 feet, and it features a lounge sofa and a grill. Lexus also extended the swimming platform by about 2.3 feet. If I had to guess, that’s probably where a good chunk of the three feet it grew over the LY 650 came from.

It should be noted, the boat itself won’t actually be built by Lexus . The Japanese automaker is outsourcing that job to a Taiwanese company called Horizon Group. Lexus says that the manufacturer has a “reputation for its advanced technological capabilities which have been honed through the construction of superyachts .

Powering the LY 680 is a pair of 12.8-liter straight-six diesel engines supplied by Volvo, according to Lexus. In their base configuration, the engines make a combined 1,600 horsepower. However, if that’s not enough for you, feel free to up the power to 1,000 horsepower each. That’s right baby. This is a 2,000-horsepower boat.

The concept for the Luxury Yacht is “to feel like a hideout in the middle of the sea, providing a space where discerning customers can feel free and at ease.” The exterior embodies the Lexus design philosophy of L-finesse, and the interior has been meticulously crafted down to the smallest details to provide a comfortable living space. In terms of performance, Lexus aims for confidence inspiring cruising performance, offering stable maneuverability, excellent ride comfort, and quietness.

Toyota first entered the boat business back in 1997, and it has sold nearly 1,100 boats since then, but only some have made it to the U.S. market, according to Automotive News .

Best food, best view in Moscow. absolutely faultless from arrival to finish. Best risotto i had for many years absolutely perfectly cooked. The view on Ukrainian hotel and the white house by night is amazing

Food is very expensive,very pretentious, doesn't worth that money. Portions are very small. We ordered ravioli and there were 4! Four raviolis! For almost 15 euros. Then we asked to bring us dessert menu but nothing, they didn't even bothered, so we payed and left without dessert. Very poor service for that price.

Very good food on the boat in Moscow river. Great service, interior and food. Really expansive even for Moscow. Worth trying on some special occasion.

Reserved for two persons for diner and did bring right away the English menu. Due to nice weather, the windows were open, which I enjoyed very much, because there was a lot of guests smoking shisha. Food was tasteful and wine was served at the correct temperature. Duck spring rolls and seafood risotto were great. The balance between pricing and quality is good.

This restaurant-boat is directly in front of the World Trade Centre so convenient for anyone staying in this area. It isn't cheap but my meal was absolutely exquisite and the service quiet and unassuming. English menu on offer but clearly not a touristy place. Every other table was Russian couples and families. Windy night so the boat rocked a fair bit. If you don't mind spending a few roubles, it's a pretty impressive experience. 20% off if you go before 5 pm. Wish I'd known that!
