Denison is excited to debut Project PEGASUS, an 88-meter concept yacht designed by  Jozeph Forakis . The project is exclusively available as a new construction opportunity with Denison.

With reflective ‘Solar Wings’, Project PEGASUS is the world’s first 3D printed superyacht solar-electric/hydrogen hybrid with zero emissions and with a multi-level “Tree of Life” hydroponic garden providing fresh food and air purification. Pegasus was awarded the prestigious Elite Award “reserved for the world’s leading designers and design schemes” in the “Elite Concept Award” category for global exterior and interior combined. The project also won the International Yacht & Aviation Award in the “Interior Concept” category.

Jozeph Forakis commented: “I am thrilled to collaborate with Denison Yachting, one of the world’s most distinguished and respected brokerages, and Lateral Naval Architects, known for their real-world innovation, for project PEGASUS 88m. We couldn’t ask for a better foundational team to bring this dream to reality. Special thanks to Marisa Ronchi and Ottaviano Iacono of SuperyachtOne for their belief in the project and introduction to Alex Clarke at Denison. I dreamt of creating a yacht that honors nature by becoming virtually invisible. This desire drove us to develop a zero-emissions yacht that is ‘invisible’ in both design and environmental impact. PEGASUS 88m is an ambitious, yet achievable, vision for a sustainable future in yachting. All her core technologies are based on today’s reality. It’s only a matter of time before all yachts are made this way. Today, together with Denison and Lateral, we embark on a journey to accelerate towards that future. ‘A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.'”

Ottaviano Iacono, Founder of  SuperyachtOne , affirmed this notion: “SuperyachtOne takes great pleasure in supporting visionary yacht projects that embody a harmonious blend of creativity, innovation, and eclecticism. PEGASUS stands as a remarkable concept, fueled by a resolute commitment to sustainability. The alliance between Denison Yachting and Jozeph Forakis on this project is a great satisfaction-it is going to be an exciting collaboration”.

James Roy, Managing Director of Lateral Naval Architects, stated: “Lateral is excited to collaborate with Forakis Design and Denison on the pioneering vision of the PEGASUS 88m design. The project presents an audacious challenge in the field of structural engineering, energy architecture, and manufacturing and we look forward to exploring the boundaries of feasibility, technology readiness, and how these can be accelerated.”

Denison superyacht broker  Alex G. Clarke , who represents the project, shared his thoughts: “The yachting industry is filled with awe and wonder-being on the water always seems to bring a sense of calm and happiness to those around it. So it is always exciting to be linked to such a forward-thinking design concept like PEGASUS, which I feel pushes the boundaries of what is possible. To me, PEGASUS will inspire an owner or shipyard to build a vessel that will be one of those iconic yachts that will bring that ‘awe and wonder’ for years to come.”

“Not only is PEGASUS a ground-breaking design,” he continued, “but the smart technology surrounding it-from fuel cells to hydroponics providing fresh air and food, to zero emission and the use of glass and solar panels-is very inspiring to me. I do feel this is more than a concept and I would love to see a shipyard or owner get involved to help make her a reality. That’s our goal-to help make this project come to life.”

The 88m superyacht’s construction uses robotic 3D printing to create a mesh framework integrating both hull and superstructure. The result is an extraordinarily strong and lightweight structure that can be produced using less energy, material, waste, space, and time compared to conventional construction. The unique exterior design starts with a low, linear hull with a plumb bow and silver metallic finish, which blends chameleon-like with the water’s colors and movements. This foundation at the waterline supports the superstructure with multi-tiered, ephemeral glass wings that reflect the clouds and the sky. Like a shape-shifting vessel from the future, the elegant, lattice framework of her 3D-printed structure becomes visible through the reflective glass at certain angles and lighting conditions. The dramatic triangulated structure allows light to penetrate all levels of the interior while framing the remarkable views in all directions.

Sailing yacht MALTESE FALCON: Re-launch of an icon

By Steph Loseby & Nina Done   28 April 2023

Arguably the world’s most iconic sailing yacht, the multi-award-winning 88m (288ft) MALTESE FALCON has just been relaunched after undertaking a full-scale refit at the Lubsen yard in Livorno, Italy . YachtCharterFleet had the pleasure of speaking to the yacht’s captain Pierfrancesco Cafaro on her latest changes and upcoming charter plans.

Sporting a brand new 'Perini Blue' hull color and fully revamped interiors, as well as a major overhaul to all her onboard engineering and electrical systems, we take an in-depth look at some of the yacht’s most prominent changes.

Passion project

maltese falcon sailing yacht hits the water after her major refit

Chosen for its reputation as one of the best refit shipyards in Italy, Lubsen hosted many of the contractors that worked on Maltese Falcon’s original build, which has enabled the yard to undertake a refit in line with the new owner’s vision while staying true to the late owner Tom Perkins’ original concept and rigorous attention to detail.

The yacht represents his ambition in creating a yacht that broke the mold in terms of engineering, rigging and sail control, and the new owner and his team have been keen to ensure this vision has been upheld and updated in line with modern technologies.

motor yacht 88 meter

All of the contractors have worked closely with the crew and yacht team, working with the same passion to see this beautiful yacht rebirthed Pierfrancesco Cafaro, Captain of Maltese Falcon

Maltese Falcon’s captain, Pierfrancesco Cafaro, who joined the sailing yacht a year ago, explains: “Everyone on board, including the yard, management company and owner are passionate about upholding [Tom Perkins's] original vision and keeping this beautiful yacht as impressive and ground-breaking as ever.”

The extensive refit, which began in November 2022, is now finally drawing towards a close after an epic effort from everyone involved. Now in the water, she looks ready and raring to go, barring a few last-minute touches, and the usual safety and survey checks required, before commencing her busy upcoming yacht charter season in the Mediterranean .

Award-winning sailing yacht

First hitting the water in 2006, the 1,100GT sailing yacht has consistently been lauded, receiving countless accolades, awards and glowing reviews from the world's media, and regularly appearing in the top ten all-time rankings for style, concept, engineering, performance and provision of luxury.

motor yacht 88 meter

Winning a whopping 18 highly-coveted awards, including the highest technical achievement in a sailing yacht, best interior design and sailing yacht of the year, this ground-breaking vessel has now entered a new chapter in her life.

Aiming to preserve as much of Tom Perkins’ original legacy, whilst striving to meet the new owner’s vision – himself a keen sailor and long-time Perini owner – has been one of the yard’s major challenges. Nevertheless, an extremely exciting undertaking for a project as large as this one.

What are some of the major changes onboard MALTESE FALCON?

According to Cafaro, around 80% of the yacht’s interior spaces have been upgraded or altered in some way. Her original exterior and interior design was conceived by the British designer Ken Freivokh. For the current refit, Rome-based architect Emanuela Esposito has been enlisted to reimagine her interior spaces, using an overall brighter scheme throughout, in stark contrast to the dark, carbon fiber interiors the yacht once showcased.

All guest areas have been fitted with new carpets, beds, lighter bathroom marble and pure leather ceiling panels, as well as brand new audio-visual systems, with a dedicated movie platform offering streaming services such as Netflix and Prime built in.

Starlink WiFi has also been installed, with new access points around the vessel, enabling download speeds of up to 350MB globally and superior connectivity wherever she cruises.

Her dedicated movie theater, main salon and dining room have also undergone a major transformation, including her indoor/outdoor bar in the middle of the salon that leads to her aft cockpit area.

This highly-social alfresco space now sports a new steel awning structure, offering additional protection from the elements to guests as they enjoy a leisurely breakfast or lunch. The permanent structure covers the entire aft cockpit up to her mizzen mast, and is attached to her superstructure. Apart from this, her distinctive profile remains unchanged.

Engineering systems and crew areas

Regarding her machinery, a huge amount of work has been undertaken “under the bonnet”, including replacing all exhausts, muffler piping, and a complete overhaul of her main engines.

She’s also had a full upgrade of all her hotel services which include new watermakers, air-conditioning system and replacement of her lighting arrangement and associated electrical components.

motor yacht 88 meter

Her crew areas have also had a major refit, with new floors and carpets, new pantry for both crew and guests areas, new miele laundry machines and a brand new galley where the chef will create his culinary masterpieces for the guests.

Out on deck, sailing yacht MALTESE FALCON now sports a new rescue crane, along with a new rescue tender.

New sustainable features

No expense has been spared for this project, with attention being paid to her green features, which Cafaro explains has been designed to “restore her back to her former glory in a world that is changing very fast into a future that is more sustainable.”

maltese falcon's underwater lighting

She was an iconic yacht and still is an iconic yacht that's why they wanted to spend the money on making her the best Pierfrancesco Cafaro, Captain of Maltese Falcon

For example, the yacht’s electrical generators have been replaced with the latest Tier III models, to ensure she is up to date with the latest IMO emissions protocols. Furthermore, the yacht's rigging company RigPro have been looking into ways at optimizing the sailing gear to reduce the yacht’s overall emissions as part of its ongoing SEEMP – Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan, which all yacht’s must now adhere to as per the IMO.

The yacht is also now fitted with a new system for drinkable fresh water, eliminating the need for single-use plastics onboard.

Charter-focused changes

In terms of amenities, the yacht’s massage room has been completely refitted with new machinery for muscle therapy, as well as an electrical pulse machine ‘EMsculpt’, which uses cutting-edge technology to tone your body and help eliminate fat. There is also a dedicated onboard massage therapist who will cater to the needs of guests during their vacation.

The yacht has also been fully equipped with brand new water toys, including windsurfers, e-foils, e-surfs, an inflatable platform, seabobs, paddleboards and snorkeling gear; guaranteed to provide endless hours of fun on the water wherever she cruises.

motor yacht 88 meter

Her new owner wants to invest money and energy to give her a new and fresh look that offers much more than just a charter experience

There is also a new area on her flybridge deck dedicated to sunbathing and relaxing, equipped with a 3-meter spread of sunpads, alongside additional chaise longues, as well as umbrellas and an optional awning for shade.

Where is MALTESE FALCON sailing this year?

Holding both a Greek and Spain charter license, the striking yacht can traverse the Mediterranean waters with ease, transporting guests to some of the most celebrated yachting destinations in the world.

The vessel will commence her busy upcoming charter season around the South of France until mid-June. She will then sail to Greece’s Aegean islands , finishing up close to Turkey , before making her way back to the Ionian Sea . After which time she will make a bee-line for Sardinia for the beginning of August.

Remaining availability for Mediterranean yacht charters

yachts in turquoise blue waters of the Mediterranean

Sailing yacht MALTESE FALCON will remain within Sardina and Corsica waters until September. She currently only has remaining availability for the first week of August, and between 17-24 August, which is likely to be snapped up.

Alternatively, for those looking to escape the winter blues, MALTESE FALCON will be heading over to the Caribbean for her winter season.

Blue Coast 88'

The Blue Coast 88' shows modern and elegant lines perfectly integrated with the impressive interior volume. She is a high class yacht, elegant and refined, made for cruising with friends and family. This outstanding vessel represents Today an ideal means of living in communion with the sea. Her simple but efficient sailing plan, her comfort, and her luxurious amenities are undoubtedly the highest of her range. Built in recyclable Sealium aluminium, the BC88' is eco-friendly and shows very low emissions with consumption under power 40% less than power monohulls of the same size. The very efficient sailing plan allows for reducing even more the emissions with the possibility to sail in silent mode for hours.

The Blue Coast 88' is a four-deck sloop rigged catamaran. She has the level of comfort of a motor yacht while supplying the pleasure of a sail yacht. The performance under power is at high levels as soon as speed and long-range passage making are in concern. The total beam of the yacht is reduced to reasonable proportions in order to improve structural efforts and permit access to most marinas. The Blue Coast 88' is measuring 27 meters and with a beam of 12.50 meters making her incredibly spacious. Yet she is lightweight with only 75 tons. Her impressive mast is measuring no less than 35 meters providing her with an uforgettable look! She enables for a world-wide cruising at respectable speeds with the maximum of security and an incredible comfort. The Blue Coast 88' offers a very appealing "double deck" interior architecture featuring a sea front master cabin which will meet all the requirements of demanding owners. The yacht also features three huge and comfortable guest cabins in spacious hulls. The impressive 360° sea view from the main salon is opened to the wide exterior cockpit offering a pleasant 'in-and-out' social area. The flybridge features an exterior helm station plus maneuvering area, and is completed with a spacious aft sunbathing area with a Spa. The elegant exterior styling of the Blue Coast 88' combines various technical and luxury features like hydro & aerodynamic forces, comfort, design, ergonomics, interior arrangement and safety. The aft exterior salon is a large shaded terrace with an unobstructed view over the sea. An automatic sliding door integrates exterior settee with interior arrangement into a great social gathering area. The terrace also features a big private lounge with all the necessary comfort. The aft stairs of each hull store lazarette compartments with garage and scuba diving equipment storage and offer direct access to the sea through retractable swim ladder. A hydraulic platform receiving the tender is situated aft between the two hulls facilitating bathing, and tender and water sport operations. The forward deck gives access to the net and the manoeuvering areas. Access to the top of the nacelle is provided by going up the stairs above the forward windscreen. Access to the flybridge is made from the aft terrace by going up the comfortable stairs on the starboard of the yacht. The helm station and hardware equipment are located forward for the ultimate control. Two sunbathing areas are located on each side of the Spa and a central dining console allows for fully enjoyment of the al-fresco dining. The interior is built to the highest standards of comfort and luxury using lightweight yet refined materials and state-of-the-art craftsmanship. The yacht is fully equipped with high-end entertainment including flat TV screen, latest audio and video systems, wireless internet access, etc.

Ocean Alexander 88 Motoryacht

  • By Chris Caswell
  • Updated: January 8, 2009

ytgjul08ocealex88.jpg

Every yacht starts with a designer facing a blank sheet of paper, with a fresh and unusual layout. In addition, you’ll find comfortable a list of “must-includes” in one hand. What happens next can be yet another variation on a tired theme or a cleverly designed motoryacht that excels on all levels.

In the case of the new Ocean Alexander 88 Motoryacht, the result clearly reflects the latter. This is an 88-footer with the space you’d expect to find on yachts far larger.

“Actually, my original instructions were to create a three-stateroom yacht,” says Destry Darr, whose Destry Darr Designs of Ft. Lauderdale did both the layout and the dcor.”When the plan changed to four cabins, well, I had to do some creative rearranging.”

That’s what sets this Ocean Alexander apart from other yachts of this size: creativity. Richard Allender, marketing director for Ocean Alexander, puts it simply: “This is a whole lot of boat.” And he’s right.

Consider these amenities: four staterooms (each with private head), a formal dining area plus a country galley, a laundry room with washer, dryer, and linen closet, and an enclosed bridge with crew quarters.

“Driving the entire design was the goal of having open space and an airy feel to the yacht, both on the main deck and in the cabins,” says Darr, and that’s just the sense you have as you enter the salon.

With large windows all around, the salon is split into entertaining and dining areas by an offset divider that conceals a 42-inch pop-up TV. Bulkheads and all built-in cabinetry are a warm reddish sapele with ribbon grain, accented with camphor burls and lovely inlays. In the after section, a pair of comfy sofas and chairs face each other over beautifully crafted coffee tables.

The dining area is nicely sized so that people sitting at the table can actually push their chairs back without hitting bulkheads or cabinets. And, since the boat sleeps eight, the table seats eight – a simple mathematical relationship that seems to escape some designers. Rounding out the dining area is a mirrored forward bulkhead, a sapele wood ceiling treatment, and a bow-front buffet and wet bar complete with wine chiller and fridge/icemaker.

The forward area of the house is given over to a spacious country galley, with a U-shaped settee forward below the windows. The galley has granite counters with generous backsplashes and an array of lockers and drawers that take advantage of every bit of space, including a lazy-Susan locker in one corner. Appliances are thoughtfully chosen, and include a home-sized Sub-Zero freezer/fridge, Gaggenau 4-burner cooktop and oven, GE Profile microwave, and Fisher Paykel two-drawer dishwasher. Best of all, the cook has a great view through large side and forward windows.

Opposite the galley is a day-head notable for its detailed door with stainless steel inserts and frosted glass panels for light.A flat-screen TV built into the galley pantry provides entertainment for those in the settee forward. The galley and settee area has hardwood soles, so spills from the galley or wet feet coming through the twin pantograph doors on each side aren’t a crisis.

A particularly thoughtful touch is the desk next to the settee, which is perfect for a laptop, for keeping track of provisioning lists, or simply as a quiet place to write a letter. Surrounded by windows, it’s a pleasant place to work.

One of the two areas on the Ocean Alexander 88 that I thought was particularly clever is the guest cabin layout, reached via curving stairs with a recessed handrail so you can’t snag a sleeve or bruise a hip. There’s a sizable foyer with a marble inlay sole and a breakfast buffet that’s a perfect place for a basket of croissants and a pitcher of orange juice to greet your waking guests. The foyer also hides a walk-in laundry room with full-sized washer and dryer, plus stowage for linens and laundry supplies.

Here’s the clever part: most yachts of this size have a passageway that runs from the foyer straight to the forward cabin, but not the 88. If you look at the plans, you’ll see that the passage makes a dogleg after leaving the offset foyer and this makes all the difference. By bending the passage, Darr created enough room for two spacious double staterooms, each with a pleasantly sized head, and decorated in fine fashion.

The first stateroom opens directly to the foyer and has a walkaround berth, built-in nightstands, and a big hanging locker with bifold doors. The en suite head has a marble counter and sole, and a nicely sized shower. The second stateroom is just forward along the passage and is essentially the same as the first guest cabin. Finishing up the area is a cabin with upper and lower berths to port, with its own spacious head all the way forward.

The offset passage is the key to this layout, which allows cabins that are larger than you’d expect on a yacht of this size. Even better, no guests have to share a head with another cabin.

Aft of the foyer, Darr created a wide passageway that provides a grand double entry to the master suite, which spans the full beam. The centerline king berth faces a recessed flat-screen TV, and there is a love seat to port. The starboard side has built-in bureaus, but somehow the designer and builders managed to find enough space to create two oversized, cedar-lined, walk-in hanging lockers, complete with shelves and shoe racks.

One noteworthy design feature in the master suite is that the forward bulkhead appears to be curved, although the panels are mostly flat and simply angled inward. This gives a sense of more space and, in line with the goal of creating an airy environment, it works nicely.

A his-and-hers head also uses the full beam to advantage, although the division of space is not quite equal: her side (port) gets a vanity table and a bit more room since the adjoining shower is offset slightly on his side. Both areas offer trendy vessel sinks and Euro-style fixtures, including a Grohe four-nozzle tower in the shower.

Another clever design feature on the Ocean Alexander 88 is the enclosed bridge, which has interior access from the country galley or via stairs to the boat deck aft. To provide seating for guests, most designers simply bend a U-shaped settee behind the helm.

Darr, on the other hand, created an L-shaped settee with a triangular table so that guests have a choice of looking forward past the helmsman or watching the pop-up TV in the cabinet to starboard. By offsetting the settee, Darr also allowed space for a wetbar counter behind the settee with a fridge, icemaker, and wine chiller. Because the settee is raised, guests have a fine view through the surrounding windows, including the two aft windows that open. And, because no one wants to trudge down stairs to use the day-head, another day-head has been provided on the bridge.

The helm is a model of efficiency, with a pair of electric Stidd chairs behind a black-finished console that can be fitted with the new “glass cockpit” monitors. The big inlaid sapele wheel is ship sized, and the digital monitors for the Cat diesels are in a slanted burlwood panel below the electronics displays.

A pair of angled doors on each side of the bridge lead to a Portuguese bridge so, with a walkaround controller, the skipper can handle most dockings from the wings.

The boat deck is very large, and can easily handle a 14-foot tender with the Steelhead 3000-pound davit. A console on the port side serves as a summer kitchen, with a Firemagic grill and sink. If the bridge and the boat deck seem even wider than the salon below, well, they are: the bridge overhangs the side decks to create protected passageways as well as protect the salon from the sun.

Like the other stairs aboard the 88, those from the boat deck to the after deck are wide and gentle, with sturdy rails. A watertight door from the swim platform leads to the crew quarters and, if the sea conditions discourage that access, there is a ladder from the after deck.

Once inside, you realize that these are the kind of accommodations most crews see only in their dreams. The captain has a double cabin with a desk and hanging locker, while two crew members can share a bunk-bedded cabin opposite. All have access to a spacious head with shower, and a small utility compartment contains not only another washer and dryer, but a mini-galley as well. Best of all, the fit and finish is the same as throughout the yacht.

A word about the construction is important, because Ocean Alexander goes to great lengths both to design and engineer the yacht properly. The 88 started as an Ed Monk, Jr., design, which was then turned over to Ed Hagemann, a specialist in underwater surfaces, to fine-tune the shape especially the prop tunnels. Then the plans went to Tim Nolan for a comprehensive structural analysis.

Much of the construction is conventional, but notable are the aluminum I-beams in the decks, which are tied to carbon-ber arches. With aluminum bracing in the window mullions, the resulting fiberglass and metal structure bears more resemblance to a NASCAR rollcage than a yacht, but it is incredibly strong. We found the proof offshore, where the 88 was well behaved and predictable.

Keypower bow and stern thrusters got us out of a tight docking situation easily and, once underway, the most noticeable feature of the 88 was also the least noticeable: an almost total absence of noise.

Ocean Alexander brought in outside consultants to produce a sound-and vibration-control package that really works. At 1900 rpm or around 14 knots, my sound meter was barely recording 58 decibels on the bridge. At lower speeds, it dropped to 56 decibels and it never went above 62. Take my word for it: Thats really quiet. We needed the engine monitors to be certain they were running.

Once into open water, the 88 came up to speed quickly without needing trim tabs and, with the stabilizers at a mild setting, we topped out at 18 knots on the GPS.We also discovered that the boat was somewhat under-propped so Id expect a bit more speed when she’s properly sorted out.

Ocean Alexander has built an impressive reputation and this new 88 carries it forward as a fine example of a cleverly designed, superbly built, and thoughtfully outfitted yacht.

A look at the most expensive superyachts at the Palm Beach yacht show and their insane features, from basketball courts on deck to ice baths and saunas

  • The Palm Beach International Boat Show kicks off later this week.
  • Eight megayachts are expected to be on display for would-be buyers and charter customers.
  • These are the show's biggest yachts — and how many millions of dollars they are going for.

The Palm Beach International Boat Show — the yacht world's flashiest event stateside — is returning this year with over 800 boats for both deep-pocked potential owners and window shoppers to peruse.

While it's impossible to know what exactly will be on display until the show begins on Thursday, it's expected that eight megayachts — generally defined as ships over 60 meters long — will be docked at the show and at nearby marinas like the Rybovich Marina in the ritzy Florida town.

Some of these are for sale at eye-popping prices, but others are available to if in case you fancy living like a billionaire for a week or two this summer (and if you have six figures to spare on a vacation).

These are the eight biggest yachts that will be at the Palm Beach International Boat Show and nearby marinas, in size order.

Nero: 90.1 meters

Price: From $497,000 a week (charter)

Standout features: Pizza ovens, beauty salon, massage room, resistance pool

Reportedly owned by Irish billionaire Denis O'Brien, Nero is modeled after J.P. Morgan's 1930s ship , and was built in 2007 and updated in 2021.

She now boasts a gym on her sundeck with multiple cardio machines and a beauty salon, and has an on-board beautician for manicure, pedicure, hair, and massage needs. There's also an upgraded movie theater, two new pizza ovens, and both a pool and a jacuzzi.

For those who want to go overboard, she has more than a dozen toys, including a waterslide, Jet Ski, and flyboard.

Victorious: 85 meters

Price: From $876,600 a week in the summer and $950,000 a week in the winter

Standout features: Hammam (Turkish bath), wine cellar, wood-burning fireplace, children's playroom

Victorious brings a party vibe to the yacht show. With a beach club on board, a wine cellar, a cigar clubroom , multiple bars, and a lounge with a piano, the vessel is made for entertaining. Plus, there's a playroom and movie theater to entertain the kids.

For tamer charter clients, Victorious has a suite of wellness features such as a gym, massage room, beauty salon and hammam, or Turkish bath — perhaps a custom request of her owner, Turkish businessman Vural Ak.

She also boasts a treasure trove of water toys, including Jet Skis, jetsurfs, inflatable kayaks, and scuba equipment.

Casino Royale: 72 meters

Special Features: Infinity pool, helipad, private jacuzzi

Purchased and refitted by car dealer magnate John Staluppi last year, Casino Royale is the latest of his James Bond-inspired yachts (he's also owned an Octopussy and a Skyfall, among others).

Casino Royale has a helipad that turns into a dancefloor, an infinity pool, and a wellness center with a gym and sauna. The owner's cabin has its own deck, which features a private bar and jacuzzi.

However, the boat's price isn't listed, and while she's not necessarily officially for sale, that might change depending on who's prepared to buy, Mr. Bond.

Talisman C: 70.6 meters

Price: $60 million (or from $567,000 a week to charter)

Special features: Massage and beauty room, private library

Likely the largest yacht for sale (not just charter) at the show, the Talisman C is a 2011 six-bedroom boat. The owner's cabin comes with an en suite bathroom, dressing room, private library, and crystal chandeliers.

Amenities include a gym, a beauty room, oversized jacuzzi, and a fully equipped bar. Her crew of 19 includes a trained masseuse, and the toy room comes equipped with a wakeboard, eFoil , and WaveRunners.

Joy: 70 meters

Price: From $650,000 a week

Special features: Disco club, basketball court, onboard fitness instructor

Superyacht Joy testifies to the fact that owners want as many on-board experiences as they can get.

There's an expansive suite of fitness features, including a basketball court (don't shoot that hoop too hard!), a personal trainer on staff, boxing equipment, and a handful of machines. For post-workout winddowns, there's a spa with a steam room and onboard masseuse. And for entertainment, there's both an outdoor and indoor cinema, and a disco club.

Triumph: 65.4 meters

Price: From $707,600 a week in the summer and $650,000 a week in the winter

Special features: Sauna, helipad, banana boat

This 2021 superyacht is named after Triumph motorcycles — a reported favorite of her rumored owner, British businessman Chris Dawson — and even has one on display as an art piece in the upper deck's lounge. The primary suite is 1,400 square feet and has its own study , and there's a sauna, an indoor-outdoor gym, a helipad, and a massage room spread among her six decks.

She boasts an "armada of water toys," including two kinds of Jet Skis, electric water bikes, and a banana boat.

Seanna: 64.5 meters

Price: $54,000,000 (or from $462,000 a week to charter)

Special features: marble foyer, movie room, sundeck pool

The recently refurbished Seanna is available for sale and charter.

Her indoor-outdoor gym is on sea level so that passengers can take a dip after a session with the onboard personal trainer. There's also a sundeck pool, a helipad, a two-room massage facility, and, for the more cerebral guests, a library with an electric fireplace.

There are a number of toys on board, including a popular water trampoline and two WaveRunners.

Come Together: 60 meters

Price: $65,000,000

Special Features: DJ and videographer on board, ice bath, sauna

Next-to-new yacht Come Together is looking for a new owner after doing charters during the 2023 season.

The Beatles' influence is evident beyond the yacht's name, with guitars dotting the sky lounge and a crewmember who doubles as a DJ. There's also an outdoor cinema and bar for entertainment and an ice bath and sauna for the day after the party. The owner's suite has a private study and lounge, and each guest cabin has its own ensuite.

The sale includes a number of toys, like Jet Skis, kayaks, and Seabobs.

Designed by Lars Modin, the 26-metre superyacht 88 IPS is a lovely carbon fiber sports cruiser, which has recently completed her sea trials with a great success, and is now ready for delivery. It took the Swedish company Delta Powerboats just 10 years to grow from a 25 footer to the new 26 meter flagship, luxury yacht 88 IPS.

“It is with great pleasure we announce that we have added a dream to our product portfolio – a 26 meter yacht built from carbon. We have been working over two years to complete the project, and it is with pride we are now able to present the result,” says Donald Wessel, sales manager at Delta Powerboats in Sweden.

“The aim has been to maintain the core values of the Delta brand and build the most beautiful, most fuel efficient and most intelligent boat on the market. And the fact that hull number two is already being created in production indicates that we are on the right track aiming to create something special,” Donald Continues.

Just like the rest of the Delta fleet the 88 IPS yacht has a characteristic Scandinavian design, all materials are geniune and will age beautifully.

“The task of building a boat of this size was a real challenge, and to succeed we had to start from the base. We had to rebuild the factory and hire new skilled boatbuilders, technicians, and talented craftsmen in various skills to acheive a perfect result. The entire production is adapted for paying attention to environmental considerations. All boats are manufactured using vacuum infusion to get them equally strong and light, and on top both Delta 54 IPS and the Delta Yacht are built from carbon fiber,” explains Lennart Alpstål, owner of the Delta factory.

Performance

B88 is a unique boat – she is just under 24 meters long according to the RINA classification society. At 23.85-meter LLL, her measures are officially recognized as a MGN 280 “Small vessel in commercial use”. Given B88’s superyacht configuration, she might be just a perfect chartering boat.

Classified as a “small vessel,” B88 has nothing small about her. Over 177 m2 of interior space, about 43 m2 of crew accommodation, and almost 128 m2 of technical areas ensure that all 10 guests will have plenty of room for entertainment and recreation and enjoy enough privacy when needed. 5-person crew will benefit from spacious work and rest accommodations.

225 metric tons of displacement provide B88 ample storage spaces to support fully autonomous trips of 5,000 nautical miles at 8.5 knots cruise speed.

ACCESSORIES

The vessel is a composite fiberglass motor vessel equipped with two diesel engines and two diesel generators.  The vessel was built in Argentina.  There is a Det Norske Veritas placard aboard.  The current owner reports purchasing the vessel four years ago in Florida.  He stated that the engines, transmissions and generators are original.  He disclosed that the fin stabilizers have a lamination issue.  He stated that a recent marine survey was performed and referred us to that survey for information regarding any other problems with the vessel; we were not provided with a copy of that survey.  The current owner stated that he chartered the vessel a few summers ago but has used the vessel very infrequently in the recent past.  The vessel was inspected in its slip, underway between its slip in Mission Bay and the boatyard in San Diego Bay and back, and while hauled.  The vessel is basically structurally sound.  The vessel exhibits extensive deferred maintenance.  Upon completion of the recommendations on this survey and the mechanical survey and successful sea trials the vessel should be suitable for its intended purpose as a coastal cruising vessel.

Overall Summary: Satisfactory – Marginal

Standard form key:     We use subsection and overall ratings to summarize conditions found, based upon their appearance.  Ratings include: Not examined, Not applicable, Faulty, Marginal, Satisfactory, Good, Excellent.

The actual cash value is the value that our research approximates the selling price of this vessel should be, at the time and place of our inspection.  Consideration is given to vessel’s condition, geographic location, published listings and guides, comparable sales and listings, and market conditions.  The new replacement value is the cost of this or a similar, new vessel, comparably equipped.  The investment is the reported investment including purchase price and significant upgrades.  No values include maintenance costs, storage or tax.  The most relevant data found while researching the value is included below.  We primarily use market value analysis methodology for determination of value.

Explanation of value opinion: The value of the vessel is based on the soldboats.com reported sale prices and the yachtworld.com listing prices below.  The most comparable Tarrab is the 1997 77’ model that sold in 2018 for $225,000 (pre Covid-19).  There are very few close comparable boats and we also reviewed our in-house data base.  The values vary widely, primarily based on condition and we attempted to account for this in our value.

  • Ensure the vessel has all legally required carriage items including approved and current distress signal flares, navigation rules and a waste management plan.
  • Service the port side light which is missing it’s bottom.
  • Maintain the EPIRB per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Maintain the life raft per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Assure the high water alarm is properly functional, we heard no sound when testing it from several sending units.
  • The AC electrical outlet on the flybridge wet bar had no power and came out of it’s mount, properly address this condition.
  • The navigational electronics are marginally suitable, modify the navigational electronics or supplement them as necessary to provide at least the minimally required components for the areas of intended use. This should include at least a VHF, plotter and radar at both helms.
  • The autopilot is damaged at the flybridge and inoperative, service as desired.
  • We were unable to successfully test the HVAC system, either prove it properly functional or service as necessary.
  • There were tape labels on the pilothouse electrical distribution panel. Properly and permanently label the panel.
  • Replace the GFCI outlet aft in the engine room, the face plate is cracked.
  • Determine the prior purpose of the small disconnected wire to port aft in the engine room, near the engine room door and reconnect as necessary.
  • Address corrosion on the engine room blowers, service if/as necessary to eliminate the cause of the circuit breaker tripping if the blowers are energized with their switches on.
  • Cover the exposed engine room light bulbs.
  • Properly label all circuit breakers and switches, several are not labeled including switches and circuit breakers aft in the engine room.
  • The new Raymarine chart plotter exhibited the vessel traveling over land on it’s way out of Mission Bay, modify the functionality and prove it reliably and accurately functional.
  • Determine why the AC and DC ammeters “bounced” underway and address appropriately.
  • Assure both shore power cable caddies are properly functional. Test and prove the starboard shore power cable, it was not tested.
  • Properly secure the loose cover on the circuit breaker panel to starboard in the lazarette.
  • Service the various AC electrical outlets which either had no power or had GFCI outlets which did not trip, not all outlets were tested but problems with outlets were noted in the following locations: crew head, to port on the aft deck, port outlet forward above the galley countertop, in the port head and in the forward head.
  • Neither of the ice makers in the galley function and there was no service in the galley refrigerator door, address as desired.
  • Determine why the port generator shut itself off during the sea trial and address to eliminate this condition.
  • Determine why three of the stove burners in the galley did not get hot (they got warm) and address as desired.
  • Provide a key for the starboard flybridge engine start and prove it properly functional.
  • Repair the flybridge emergency engine stop and prove it functional. Determine if normal engine stop functions are available or supplement the engine controls if/as suggested by the mechanics.
  • There are several circuit breakers in bilges and wet locations including the lazarette, either relocate the circuit breakers or consult with a qualified marine electrician regarding this condition and any other questionable conditions on the vessel and modify appropriately.
  • Properly secure the loose electrical outlet in the locker in the port cabin.
  • Service and prove the starboard garage door properly functional.
  • Lift all the engine room hatches including those outboard of the starboard engine, inspect and address deficiencies.
  • Test and prove the water pressure system properly functional, it should function normally with both dock water pressure and the ship’s water pump. If the vessel is to remain on dock water pressure we strongly encourage a pressure regulator and shut off valve installed at the dock faucet and the valve be closed when the vessel is unattended.  There was intermittent and no water pressure throughout the vessel during the survey and sea trial.
  • Clean the fuel filter bowls and fuel as necessary. There is reportedly bad fuel in a tank or tanks.  There is discoloration and paint on several of the filters’ bowls, clean or replace as necessary.
  • Several of the fuel hoses near the Racor fuel filters are deteriorated, replace all fuel hoses or prove they are suitable for continued use.
  • There is a waste odor by the tank in the center engine room bilge, white sealant around a fitting on the tank and an abandoned waste discharge pump. Eliminate the waste odor, determine the significance of the sealant and repair or replace the waste discharge pump and prove it properly functional.  Determine why the alarm light flashed on the Tank Sentry and address appropriately.
  • Assure the hot water system is properly functional.
  • Determine the fuel system components which are actually in use and available, address deficiencies in the system particularly for changing valve positions.
  • The flybridge engine instrumentation is damaged and basically inoperative, service or replace as necessary.
  • Service and prove all through hulls and valves properly functional. Carefully inspect all through hulls and valves, test and prove the valves functional and replace any damaged components, including a broken valve handle outboard of the port engine.
  • Address exterior corrosion on the engines and motor mounts, eliminate the cause of the corrosion, properly prepare and paint surfaces to allow detection of any future weeps or leaks.
  • Eliminate the cause of the rust weeping on to both engine’s alternators, eliminate the cause and repair any damage. Remove staining to allow detection of any future weeps or leaks.
  • The port generator’s starter made a bad noise and sparked, address these conditions appropriately.
  • There were numerous anomalies with the engine instruments including a foggy transmission oil pressure gauge on the starboard engine, starboard engine oil pressure pegged in the pilot house and on the flybridge, address appropriately.
  • Address the heavy corrosion on the starboard generator’s heat exchanger, particularly at a hose clamp on the bottom of the heat exchanger.
  • Address a general state of corrosion on the starboard generator, eliminate the source, repair or replace component as necessary, clean and paint to allow the detection of future weeps or leaks.
  • The steering system is not properly functional, service and prove it properly functional, including at the flybridge station.
  • Clean the hydraulic fluid from the steering locker and eliminate the source of the fluid to allow the detection of any future weeps or leaks.
  • During the sea trial, the vessel was caught by a wave and headed toward the jetties, it would not steer out of the wave and the position of the rudders is outboard of the propellers, possibly contributing to the lack of control. Modify if/as possible to provide a more normal steering response and/or educate all operators to this potential condition and modify steering and operation accordingly.
  • Access and inspect the propeller shaft and address any deficiencies. Clean the water from the starboard propeller shaft to allow detection of any significant leaks and address appropriately.  Modify the installation of the bilge pump by the propeller shaft so that it is properly functional as desired.
  • Eliminate the water leak by the starboard engine exhaust components aft in the engine room.
  • Eliminate the water leak aft of the starboard engine on to an electrical box above the transmission. Repair damage.
  • Determine why there was less water flow out the port engine’s exhaust bypass discharge than there was to starboard and address appropriately.
  • The light for the forward bilge pump on the distribution aft of the engine room illuminated regularly during the trial, determine the significance and address appropriately.
  • Properly secure the lazarette bilge pump’s switch which is currently not secure and hits an object above it preventing its function. Prove this pump functional in the automatic mode.
  • There is moderate runout on both propellers when spun with a fixed object, address appropriately.
  • Determine why the starboard propeller shaft was more difficult to turn than the port shaft and address appropriately.
  • The bow thruster was not very powerful, it is a hydraulic thruster and its power may be governed by the rpm of the starboard engine. Modify or address as desired.
  • Properly secure the loose float switch for one of the cabin passageway bilge pumps.
  • Determine the prior function of the plugged hydraulic hose by the bow thruster and address if/as necessary.
  • Replace the numerous rusted clamps throughout the vessel.
  • There is water damage to the wood about the steps to the cabins, determine the cause, eliminate the cause and repair the damage as desired.
  • A cleat is loose below a sole hatch at the base of the steps into the cabins, presenting a personal injury risk, address appropriately.
  • We did not inspect and test the foredeck hatch, apparently located above the headliner in the VIP cabin. Either expose this hatch, provide proper signage or educate anyone who may need to use this hatch as an escape hatch to its location and function and assure it can be reached.  Assure it is properly functional.
  • The exterior paint on the hull sides, deck, superstructure and deck hardware has many deficiencies, many are listed under the comments of hull and structure above. While most of these conditions are cosmetic, they will be relatively expensive to address, address the root cause and cosmetic appearance of these conditions as desired.
  • The stabilizer fins exhibited soft sounds when percussion testing them and the current owner reported a known problem with the lamination of the stabilizer fins, address appropriately.
  • The vessel had a portside list per the waterline on the transom determine the cause and address appropriately.
  • There is an odor in the crew cabin locker, determine the cause and address appropriately. This may be mold/mildew.
  • A hydraulic hose in the lazarette exhibits damage and staining, replace this hose, inspect similar hoses and replace as necessary.
  • Following the survey it was reported that there are ruptured fuel tank(s), determine the validity of this assertion and address appropriately.
  • Following the survey it was reported that “black water” accumulated in the engine room bilge, determine the source and address appropriately.
  • Provide and install screens missing from various deck drains including on the flybridge and aft deck.
  • Address the transom garage door which is not shutting or functioning properly.
  • Address the aged cushions on the flybridge bar stools.
  • Address the inoperative latch for the overhead locker to port aft deck.
  • Address the cracks about the owner in VIP head including the overhead and countertops.
  • Address the standing water on the port foredeck hatch.
  • Address the deteriorated foredeck sun pad cushions as desired.
  • Clean the galley including the countertop and sole, eliminate the cause of the water on the galley if it is a leak and not a spill. The sea trial was in rough conditions and the mess may have been a result of these conditions.
  • There is staining in many of the lockers throughout the cabins, this is often associated with the flow of air and the carpet acting as filters, determine the cause and address appropriately.
  • There is extensive but minor damage throughout the interior of the vessel including some areas where the carpet is rust stained, fraying of the carpet by a hatch in the passageway, knicks and cracks in the veneer surfaces, loose headliner, headliner stains and possible mold. Address as necessary or as desired.
  • The hull bottom has a rough finish and minor audible differences. The construction methodology is beyond the scope of the survey (cored, not cored, location of coring and coring material are unknown).  Monitor and address deficiencies as necessary.
  • There is faring compound visible in areas where the hull side paint has failed, it is unclear if fairing was used in the original construction or of this is an indication of localized repairs, research and address as desired or necessary.
  • The engine room insulation is failing, replace the insulation and clean the debris from the bilge to prevent plugging bilge pumps.
  • Clean the fluid from the bilge including in the engine room, passageway and elsewhere as applicable. There is apparently water and oil.  Eliminate the source(s) of the fluid to allow detection of any future weeps or leaks.
  • We could not lift the vertical “door” just forward of transom door, lift and prove it functional. This is apparently used to safely block the transom door during offshore use.  There are also pullout steps by the forward boarding gates.
  • The sliding door between the aft deck and the salon was not functioning properly, address and prove it properly functional.
  • There is sun and water damage below the salon windows, eliminate the cause of the water damage, repair as desired or as necessary.
  • There is damage to many of the mirrors throughout the vessel, address as desired.
  • There is “glue” on a crack in the overhead panel in the galley, address appropriately.
  • A sea strainer on the starboard hull bottom is missing vanes, replace as desired or as necessary during the next haul out.
  • There is a plugged hose in the port forward engine room bilge, forward of the engine. Determine its function and address as necessary.
  • The FloScan fuel flow devices show no reading underway, address as desired.
