ONE DESIGN CENTRAL

Where to go for everything one design, what is one design sailing.

One design is a form of racing where all boats are virtually identical or similar in design. Class-legal boats race each other without any handicap calculations, start at the same time, and the winner is the first to cross the finish line.

There are more than 200 actively raced one design classes in the U.S. The classes range from eight-foot Optimist dinghies to the 12 Meter sailboats, J/105, Farr 40s, and more.

One design classes are broken down into fleets that are located at various locations like, yacht clubs, sailing centers and other organizations. Club or fleet racing takes place on a regular basis all over the country, and many fleets welcome newcomers. Contact your local sailing organizations to get involved in one design sailing and ask for the name(s) of the fleet captain(s).

Dinghy (Small Boats)

Dinghy sailing is a simple, inexpensive way to get started in the sport in small boats. The fundamental basics of sailing are most easily learned in dinghies. Many dinghies are designed for both youth and adults though some, like the Optimist, are designed specifically for youth sailors.  Dinghy sailing can provide a lifetime of enjoyment through recreational and competitive sailing. Generally, dinghies are under 22 feet in length. They include a wide assortment of designs that typically have centerboards or daggerboards. Because of their size and simplicity, many dinghies can be sailed by just one, two, or three people.

Learning to sail is part dream, part great instruction, and part hands-on experience. Most youth start sailing in dinghies many adults do too! Many youth and community based sailing programs offer learn to sail courses for adults in small boats.

Where to Sail

Small Keelboat

If you are looking to learn how to sail on a more stable platform, small keelboats might be the way to go for you. This type of boat has a weighted keel that counter-balances the force on the sails. US Sailing Accredited Keelboat Schools offer up to seven levels of courses where you can accumulate skills and experience with each level of certification. This Learn to Sail Certification Program starts with Basic Keelboat and progresses on to whatever level you choose. Having a US Sailing Keelboat Certification may make it easier for you to rent or charter a boat, but it will give you the ability to sail with confidence.

Not every learn to sail location is a US Sailing Accredited Keelboat School. Ask if they offer learn to sail courses on small keelboats.

Competition naturally results when sailors and boats get together in the same place and sail around each other.  It is normal for a sailor to want to test his or her skills against other sailors.  The way to do that is by racing.  For one design sailors, there are many options when it comes to formats for racing.

Fleet Racing

Fleet Racing is a type of racing in One Design classes where all boats of the same type race against each other at the same time on the same course. The winner of a One Design fleet race is the boat who crosses the finish line first.

More Fleet Racing information to follow as page is built out- a redirect link to a Fleet Racing page will be placed here.

Team Racing

Team Racing is a type of racing where one team (comprised of two, three or four boats) competes against another team in the same kind of One Design boat.  The team who wins the race between the two has a lower combined score than the other team using low point scoring (first =1 point; second = 2 points; third = 3 points, and so on).

Match Racing

Match Racing is a type of racing between two One Design boats.  It is one boat vs. the other boat.  The winner of the race is whichever crosses the finish line first with any or all obligations/penalties satisfied.

Adaptive Racing

Adaptive Racing may also be referred to as Para Sailing, and is for sailors who have a disability (physical, vision-impaired, intellectual, cognitive, etc) who are participating in an event with other sailors with a disability.  Most of these races take place in One Design boats that have been adapted for the sailor to aid independent operation of the boat.  Many of these races take place at events that include clinics.  Para Sailors may also be found racing in "Open"  events against able-bodied sailors.

Ratings Racing/Portsmouth Yardstick

Ratings racing is a type of fleet racing and is typically done by a fleet comprised of a variety of one design boats.  This may be a great solution for an organization or location that doesn't have enough of any  single kind of one-design boat to create its own fleet but when grouped together can form a combined fleet.

Portsmouth Yardstick is  one of the most widely used handicapping system.  It is based on average historic performance data  of a class to assign a "rating" to each One Design boat in the fleet. The Portsmouth Yardstick is a handicapping system that allows multiple classes of one designs and other smaller boats to sail on the same starting line and race course with corrected time results. The winner is determined by the formula provided in the rating rule.

Portsmouth Yard Stick Start line

US Sailing has partnered with the RYA to create a more robust platform for Portsmouth Yardstick Racing using the PYOnline platform.

The new PYOnline platform is exclusively for US Sailing member organizations. PYOnline will produce updated ratings for each class after a day or event of sailing.

Key Advantages:

  • PY Online streamlines submitting race results digitally, with the potential to update ratings on a daily basis.
  • Each Club has their own portal in PY Online allowing local updates to specific classes for better racing based upon local conditions.
  • The ratings will become more accurate over time, ensuring that competition stays fresh on the water. This means no one boat or class is guaranteed a win or loss based upon ratings alone.
  • US Sailing will update the national ratings for a given class on an annual basis, based upon the ratings used by the individual clubs.

Portsmouth Yardstick racing becomes better, more robust and more fun with more clubs and sailors participating. Please consider adding a mixed fleet racing event or series to your calendar. Contact [email protected] with any questions or to discuss how PYOnline can help your organization.

One Design Experiences with

My class, my story : the comet.

'One sailor’s Deep connection to his beloved one-design class serves as an example of why we sail the boats we do.'

By Dave Reed

We all have it: that human fascination with the new. Even the cereal I’ve been eating for years is now “new and improved” (which makes we wonder whether Quaker has been selling me an inferior breakfast all these years). I digress. Our curiosity is for new, new, new, all the time. New boats, new races, new classes, new experiences — you name it. We fill our social media feeds, our websites and even the pages of this magazine with new things. And while we’re all so focused on the new, it’s easy to ignore the older classes, boats and fleets that the majority of racers hold near and dear. Click here to continue reading.

Jeanneau and Multiplast Team Up to Develop Sun Fast 30 One Design Yacht

Jeanneau Sun Fast 30 One Design

Jeanneau and Multiplast , two major players in the world of boating, have decided to collaborate and join forces to develop a new high-performance and accessible sailboat. Driven by a strong commitment to responsibility, this new one-design will offer an intense sailing experience. The Sun Fast 30 One Design is the outcome of a project initiated by three prestigious offshore sailing clubs and aims to become a reference One Design Class for offshore sailing, with an ambitious and international racing program.

The genesis of Sun Fast 30 One Design

This design project for a 30-foot one-design offshore racer was imagined by UNCL-Racing Division from the Yacht Club de France, the Royal Ocean Racing Club (UK) and the Storm Trysail Club (US), aimed to encourage the discipline, to make sailing more accessible and to train the new generation. The VPLP Design/Multiplast association won the international call for projects “Class 30: Let’s Build the Future” competition. The Sun Fast 30 One Design, designed by VPLP Design, benefits after intensive studies from a powerful and versatile modern hull (semi-scow), adapted to an offshore purpose. Multiplast brings all its cutting-edge expertise to the conception of this one-design monohull down to the smallest detail to offer a seaworthy, well-equipped, and accessible boat thanks to its ease of maintenance and limited budget.

The partnership

United by common values, Jeanneau and Multiplast are joining forces and respective expertise around this forward-looking project in the world of ocean racing. Multiplast brings on the one hand, its expertise in the conception and development of offshore racing boats. On the other, takes care of the relations with the clubs responsible of the launch and animation of the Class and race programme as well as the sales supervision to support Jeanneau’s distribution network. Jeanneau will manufacture the Sun Fast 30 One Design in its boatyard in Cheviré, near Nantes. In addition to its agility and industrial capacity, Jeanneau provides all the services, guarantees and technical support offered by its organization and its global distribution network.

Beyond performance, respect for biodiversity and aquatic environments is at the heart of the actions of the two brands. This explains the particular attention that has been given to innovation and eco-design, in accordance with the initial specifications of the competition, with a global consideration for the construction phase, the boat’s usage and way of sailing.

The revolution of this project relates to the use of Elium® resin, a thermoplastic resin by Arkema . This resin has the particularity of being made of 20% recycled material but also of being recyclable. Therefore, it plays a role during the whole life cycle of the boat. First, it makes production waste recyclable. It also allows the deconstruction and recycling of all composite parts thanks to the separation of the fibres and the matrix.

assisted sail trim

This resin has the same mechanical properties as traditional resin. It allows construction at similar weight and maintains the performance and reliability of this new model. The Sun Fast 30 One Design will be the first serie-production recyclable sailboat.

This development is the result of more than 3 years of R&D within Bénéteau Group to develop with Arkema a grade of Elium® resin suitable for boating. In addition, two engines are offered, a traditional thermal engine and an electric one with the same weight, without consequence for the one-design.

Sun Fast 30 One Design: Jeanneau unveils a new monotype for offshore regattas

Minimal Logo

A new revolution is looming on the horizon for Jeanneau: Sun Fast 30 One Design is the new sailboat from the French shipyard that brings offshore racing closer to all those who want to enjoy sailing fast, in comfort, and in a sustainable manner.

A real checkmate for those who claim that sailing is only for the few who can afford it, Sun Fast 30 One Design is not only affordable , but has been designed by the Union Nationale pour la Course au Large (UNCL) in partnership with three major international sailing clubs : the Yacht Club de France , the Royal Ocean Racing Club (UK), and the Storm Trysail Club (US) with the aim of encouraging offshore racing and initiating a new generation.

As a result, this 30-foot sailboat featuring exceptional performance (partly derived from the bigger Sun Fast 3300, specifically designed for sailing competitions) combines sportiveness and environmental respect thanks to the partnership of VPLP Design/Multiplast that have entirely created it from recycled and recyclable resin.

Sun Fast 30 One Design is the first standard boat made in Elium® resin . The hull and deck are constructed according to the vacuum infusion moulding method developed by Arkema for optimal sturdiness and lightness. This resin demonstrates superior mechanical performance to that of thermosetting polyester resin, with the unique and revolutionary additional property of being recyclable. Constructed with 20% recycled resin , Sun Fast 30 One Design is 100% recyclable.

This boat certainly takes a furthest step ever in the history of Jeanneau which, since its inception in 1957, has always made efforts to accompany all who love the sea in their pursuit of happiness and sensations on the water. Sailboats like the Sangria, Fantasia, JOD 35, Pierre 1er and Sun Odyssey 54DS have served as markers in the evolution of the brand, in its constant pursuit of innovation, performance and unparalleled feeling with the sea.

Sun-Fast-30-One-Design-render

The ecosystem of the three big international sailing clubs will allow the S un Fast 30 One Design to enter a programme of races between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic , as well as transatlantic races with mixed crews. It’s the beginning of a new era: this new 30-footer is innovative, powerful, versatile and entirely eco-friendly, made in France and in recyclable material, thus incorporating the values of circular economy.

At a reasonable price (with limitations on materials and number of sails, electronics and autopilot), the Sun Fast 30 One Design features ease of use and transport (under 3 metres in width). Deck plan and rigging can be easily handled double-handed or fully crewed. Clearly defined hull chines marked by a rounded bow (semi-scow), a cast-iron keel fin with a lead bulb and a 2-metre draught, twin rudders, planing surfaces, rigidity and stability are all strong points of the Sun Fast 30 One Design.

Boasting a carbon mast and reasonable sail plan, this new One Design is responsive and easy to handle, delivering out-of-the-ordinary performance. Equipped with a square-top mainsail, a reefable J2 and J3, it can carry a downwind gennaker and two asymmetric spinnakers (A2 and A4) on a retractable bowsprit to adapt to a wide spectrum of sailing conditions.

render2

With its long, open cockpit , the deck plan is built for the pure pleasure of sailing, despite the limited number of sails and materials according to the strictest rules of Jeanneau . The Sun 30 Fast will be offered in two versions : One Design and Club. A Y-bridle, a galley module, chart table, and saloon are present in the One Design version. The Club version , which is more streamlined and more financially accessible, allows amateurs access to offshore racing without the need for the high-end equipment of the One Design version. Both versions are equipped with two fold-down bunks, and a 10 HP Nanni diesel engine.

With this new monotype, Jeanneau is trying to write a new chapter in the sailing history, providing both the market and sailors (including beginners) with a high-quality, fast, easy-to-handle product designed to fully enjoy emotions at sea while respecting the environment and sustainability .

One Design Sailboats

Sail a One Design? yes, you! find fellow sailors today US Sailing

If your small sailboat wasn't made by some recluse in the high sierras, it's probably a one design.

What does one–design mean?

One-design is a racing method.

In a one-design regatta, all boats are the same. They compete one on one . No boat has an advantage. No handicap is used in scoring. Whoever crosses the finish line first in a race, wins 1 that race. One-design racing is

Exciting every moment

There are many advantages to one-design racing and fleet sailing . It's not just about winning.

Racing is fun, and a learning opportunity

You get to play with others—and others get to play with you. You'll likely sail more, and get better. The better you get at anything, the more you'll enjoy it.

Little fish, big sea

The more you race and the better your skills, the more likely you'll begin traveling to larger regattas too. Competing with those who have different experiences than you helps even the best of sailors improve.

Good sailors share their knowledge

The actions of even one sailor can greatly affect the growth of a fleet , their one-design class—and the growth of the sport overall. Most everyone better than you will help you. The better you get, the better they must get, to keep ahead of you—and it's the journey, the learning, the improving, that's fun.

Alternatives to one-design racing

You can race in a mixed fleet: a group of various types of sailboats. In a mixed regatta, a handicap system, usually Portsmouth Yardstick, factors into the scoring.

In Michigan, mixed group racing is offered at Stony Creek, through the Creek Fleet, on Cass Lake at PYC , and within organizations like CRAM .

Advantages of Sailing a One Design

More sailing, more fun.

Not only does racing improve your skill at sailing, it immerses you into a group where you are likely to find camaraderie. A popular-in-your-area one design is most likely to have a local fleet . Just learning to sail ? Fleet members may offer to help you learn . They want their fleet to grow. Active participation of newer sailors helps build— and maintain a healthy fleet. You can start a fleet if there's not one in your area.

Lots of Advice and Suggestions

There will be lots of opinions on rigging a one design, sailing it well, and sailing it fast, from others who sail that same one design. If you're new to sailing , you might find owners and ask their suggestions . Learn what your class association has to offer. Whole books are written about some one designs. The Laser, Sunfish, and Optimist all have books written about them.

Specialized Products

Parts, accessories, and specialized products will likely be available at the local dealer who services your one-design. If you are in a remote area with no dealer, parts may be available from the manufacturer, or over the Internet.

Ease of Buying or Selling

When a one design is introduced.

all boats are identical within that one-design class, and sometimes, it stays that way, a continual test of who's the best sailor, not who sailed (with a lighter wallet making it) the fastest boat that day.

Keep in Mind

One-designs popular for decades may be more costly than similar style sailboats that are working to build a reputation. Rigid building specs, small–production costs, or builder/s' financial support of class racing, may burden the cost of a one-design. Newer designs may offer convenience features or other benefits desirable to new sailors/ new–boat buyers. Price usually relates to quality and/or convenience, but not always.

Some take pride in sailing age-old one-designs, rarely the easiest or simplest of boats. Any improvement perceived as advantageous to a racer threaten a one-design class. Improvements are rarely made quickly, if at all.

The Sunfish and Laser are both decades-old one-designs that have made improvements and are still priced within reach of a new-to-sailing buyer. Kudos!

Don't choose a boat based on popularity or brand recognition alone. Learn about various types of small sailboats : dinghies , board boats , daysailers , catamarans . Think about which might suit you best.

1 Many skills are needed to win a sailboat race. An infraction of the rules may cost you the win, even if you did cross the line first.

What Are The Fastest Sailboats? (Complete List)

What Are The Fastest Sailboats? (Complete List) | Life of Sailing

Last Updated by

Daniel Wade

August 30, 2022

Whenever you are looking into buying a sailboat, they often tell you how fast it can go. So naturally, customers want to know, what are the fastest sailboats?

Depending on the model and brand of a sailboat, in addition to the right conditions out on the water, this answer can vary. But which sailboats are known to be the fastest?

Each style of sailboat has its advantages that make it fast. The V.O 60, X-Yachts X4.0, and Beneteau Oceanis 30.1 are great examples of fast monohull boats. For multihull boats, Rapido 60 (Trimaran), Dragonfly 40 (Trimaran), and ICE Cat 61 (Catamaran) are some of the fastest in that category.

The list can go on when you are talking about specialized performance boats, foiling boats, and even windsurfers. However, the most common sailboats that people can relate to are either monohulls or multihulls.

According to sailing experts, fast can mean 12 knots if you are only used to going about half that speed. But when you speak about the fastest sailboats, they usually top around 30 knots or more out on the water.

Table of contents

‍ What Makes a Sailboat Fast?

A lot of variables come into play to help a sailboat reach its maximum potential for going fast. While the person running the boat is the one responsible for making it go fast, the weather conditions and type of boat have to be good in order to reach top speeds.

If a boat is not designed to handle rougher conditions, you will struggle with performance in those situations. If you have a boat that is built for anything nature throws at it, you might have better stability but considerably less speed even in good conditions.

Weight and Power of Boat

If you were to have two objects with different weights and put the same amount of force on them, the lighter object moves faster. This is why lighter boats move quicker than heavier boats.

So if you were to put two boats at one end of a race head to head with the same conditions of wind and sailing area, the lighter boat wins. This is because the lighter boat is able to gain speed quickly due to the less weight it holds.

The weight of the hull is only one part of the equation, as the mast can hold a lot of weight too. If there is a way to reduce the weight on the boat, you will have a better chance at going faster.

This is why fast boats typically are made out of materials such as carbon fiber or fiberglass. If the boat is a multi-hull without a keel, this also cuts down on weight.

Friction and Wetted Surface

Water adds a ton of friction to the boat, so a fast boat needs to be able to cut through it efficiently. In addition, some boats have finely polished exteriors to help glide through the water and reduce drag.

Depending on the shape of the hull and how much wetter surface it has can greatly affect the amount of drag it has. For example, displacement hulls change as the boat heels in the water.

For multihulls, these lift the hull out of the water slightly to reduce drag. Hydrofoils are another example that lifts the entire boat out of the water to greatly reduce the wetted surface.

Sail Area and Wind

The bigger the sails are on a boat does not necessarily mean the boat will be the fastest. While the sailing area is critical for speed, it has to match the sailing area to displacement ratio.

The sail area needs to be more about the lift of the sails rather than the size of them. If the proper sails are there, then the boat should be able to reach its maximum potential if the wind conditions are right.

Fastest Sailboat Types

The type of sailboat makes a big difference in speed since it has different characteristics. These include HP monohulls, catamarans, and trimarans.

Each boat type will have a unique position in the water, making it potentially faster than another type. If you want to compare boats in perfect conditions, you can see how one stacks up to another.

HP Monohulls

HP monohulls gain a lot of their speed by being powered by a motor. While they have the capability to sail using the wind, they have the convenience of a motor to help push them along.

So the outboard motor needs to be able to handle the weight of the boat efficiently in order to help reach top speeds. A lot of larger boats need to be pushed along by multiple motors.

Monohulls in general are favored by many sailors since they have that traditional look to them. They also happen to be very common, but multi-hulls are making things competitive in the market.

Catamarans do not have a keel and it helps reduce the weight of the boat. They also displace less water compared to a monohull. However, not all catamarans go fast.

Depending on the catamaran and its capabilities, there is some that glide effortlessly on the water. These ideally work best in good conditions but will be a bumpy ride if the water is a little choppy.

They offer one of the safest rides on the water and are essentially unsinkable due to their design. They spread out their weight over a larger area on the water, making them more stable than a monohull.

In addition, the living space on a monohull is huge compared to a monohull. With about a 40-foot catamaran, it has around the same living space as a 60-foot monohull.

Trimarans are another unique style of sailboat similar to a catamaran. They have three hulls side by side instead of two, making it very stable.

They also have a wide sail area and make for quick spurts out on the water. However, they also need good conditions to operate their best to move fast.

These displace water similar to a catamaran and are more stable. They also tend to go faster in the right conditions than a catamaran.

Both catamarans and trimarans generally have shallow drafts and can be beached. In coastal waters, monohulls have to watch out for their draft since they have a keel.

Fastest Monohull Sailboats

Some of the fastest monohull sailboats have unique characteristics that set it apart from other monohulls. These include sail area, weight, and wetted surface.

The beauty about monohulls is the keel, which has its advantages in tougher conditions. If you were to race a monohull against a multihull in moderate conditions, the monohull has a better chance at navigating through the water due to the keel and potentially going faster. The keel allows the boat to heel from one side to the other and come back to the center.

The Volvo Ocean 60 is one of the fastest monohull sailboats you can find. It is a perfect example of an offshore sailboat that is usually handled by four professional sailors and eight mates on deck.

This boat is roughly 64 feet long and sits about 12 feet in the water. The fastest that these boats go ranges around 35 to 40 knots, but it takes the right conditions and a little bit of patience for that large of a boat.

2. X-Yachts X4.0

The X4.0 yacht was a winner of the European Yacht of the Year award in 2020. It is a fairly new boat design, as it debuted in 2019.

This 40 foot luxury yacht is a top-of-the-line performance cruiser that is built for speed and is lightweight. Sitting about eight feet in the water, this boat can reach up to 10 knots or potentially more with the right conditions. You can quickly reach these speeds due to its size and weight.

3. Beneteau Oceanis 30.1

The Beneteau Oceanis 30.1 is another great example of a power cruising yacht that is new to the scene in 2019. At around 31 feet, it is one of the smaller yachts on the list but packs a powerful punch in performance and speed.

The max draft of this one is just shy of 6.5 feet and it received the Best Performance Cruiser in 2020. While this one, in particular, is built more for luxury and comfort, you can easily see top speeds ranging from 7.5 to 10 knots.

4. Santa Cruz 52

The Santa Cruz 52 is a perfect combination of a lightweight sloop and a blue water racer. At 53 feet long and a draft of nine feet, this boat is a beauty to see go fast.

These are often compared to the original Swan sailboats around the same length, as far as the class and style of the boat. In good conditions, they top around eight knots on a good day.

The Amel 60 is another beauty of a luxury yacht cruiser spanning almost 60 feet in length and nearly an eight-foot draft. This boat began production in 2019 and received the 2020 European Yacht of the Year Luxury Cruiser award.

With a reliance on the engine, you can push the boat a little harder in good conditions to gain more speed. While topping out the engine, you are looking at anywhere between eight and 10 knots.

Fastest Multihull Sailboats

Multihull sailboats are generally faster than monohull sailboats due to their lack of extra weight. These are up to 30 percent faster in that situation.

The only downside is that if you want to reach those maximum speeds, you cannot add a lot of extra weight to the vessel. So for sailors that want to utilize a multihull’s full potential, they need to consider what they bring on board and how many people they have.

1. Rapido 60 (Trimaran)

The Rapido 60 is one of the fastest multihulls out there for its size. At nearly 60 feet in length and almost 11 feet in draft, this unsinkable trimaran can speed up to 25 knots.

These were first built in 2015 and are a popular trimaran to look at if you are wanting the space. In the right conditions, the manufacturer says you can easily reach 30 knots if not more.

2. Dragonfly 40 (Trimaran)

The Dragonfly 40 is one of the few 40-footers out there that you can operate shorthanded. While it typically accommodates six to eight people, the boat’s design allows it to be easily handled.

According to the manufacturer, they claim it can reach 24 knots. Assuming the conditions are perfect, it could potentially reach more.

3. ICE Cat 61 (Catamaran)

The ICE Cat 61 is just a tad over 61 feet long and is one of the more beautiful catamarans you will ever see. For its size and design, it is impressive to see it reach top speeds.

With just the motors alone, you can easily reach 13.5 knots. If all the right conditions are in play, you can expect to reach up to 25 knots.

4. SIG45 (Catamaran)

The SIG 45 is a 45-foot racing cruiser that can comfortably hold about six people. With features like low dragging bows, carbon fiber material found in spars and bulkheads, and around 1,400 square feet of sailing area to play with, you can expect top performance all the way around.

It is estimated that this boat can safely top out around 20 knots. However, there is room for more knots in the best conditions.

5. Lagoon 67 S (Catamaran)

The Lagoon 67S is one of the rarest catamarans you will ever see. There were only four built from 1993 to 1995 by Jeanneau Technologies Avancées and are a gorgeous sight to see.

Regardless of the age of this boat, it still flies in the right conditions like the newer catamarans you see today. You can expect to reach a little over 20 knots for this 67 footer and about five feet of draft.

Other One-Design Classes

West Coast Sailing provides one-design (original manufacturer fittings) for the various classes listed above. If your boat is not listed above , we do not currently provide support in this capacity. This may be due to lack of a current manufacturer for the boat or lack of a source for buying the parts. However, we do carry a wide range of general hardware, blocks, line, and other equipment that can be used on a variety of small sailboats and keelboats. We've compiled a list of boats and links to known resources below. In some cases we may offer a selection of hardware commonly found on a given boat, or a selection of lines or rigging. For questions about older boats that are no longer in production, we encourage you to search online, in forums, or on class association pages for current info related to parts or suggestions on fittings that may work for your boat.

One of the World’s Best Sandwiches Is Coming to Miami

To try the extraordinary wagyu katsu sando at Nakahara, you’ll have to order the $350 omakase.

Consider the wagyu katsu sando the Porsche of sandwiches. The luxurious combination of elite beef, ethereal milk bread slices, and a brush of tangy-sweet tare sauce is at the top end of the spectrum in the sandwich category.

About a decade ago, the Japanese specialty began showing up in the US. (Anyone who worked in downtown New York in 2018 might remember the arrival of the $185 Don Wagyu sandwich on Wall Street.)
