The new Sunreef 60 Eco has gone all-out in terms of solar power, which should help keep electric motors topped up for extensive adventuring

There’s a rapidly accelerating trend towards maximising the amount of solar power installed on cruising catamarans, which can be seen being taken up a step on the new Sunreef 60 Eco.

Given multihulls ‘ extensive deck areas this makes sense in many ways and obviates the need for a separate diesel generator on an increasing number of craft.

Sunreef has taken this a whole stage further with its latest 60ft sailing catamaran, the Sunreef 60 Eco which is equipped with integrated solar panels that are even built into the hull sides, as well as the superstructure and hardtop. In total up to 17kW of solar can be accommodated in this way. The solar panels were developed in-house and, although they are less than 1mm thick, the Polish company claims they provide a very high degree of resistance to shock and abrasion.

The boat has electric propulsion via twin 70kW electric motors, driven by lithium battery banks of 140-200kW capacity, depending on the option specified. These are sized to be able to run house loads continuously, even overnight, without recourse to the twin 80kW diesel generators that also serve as range extenders.

SUNREEF 60 POWER CATAMARAN

Thanks to the in-house designed and developed solar panel system covering up to 200m², the 60 Sunreef Power maximizes solar energy generation with 40kWp of capacity. Owners have the option of using solar panels, wind turbines, and hydro-electric power derived from the propellers, to charge the ultra-light battery bank which are completely state-of-the-art. It's important to note that these exclusive lithium batteries are 30% lighter than the average marine battery and outperforms it. 

Even the interior decor can be sourced from sustainable material that is also environmentally-friendly. The hulls, for example, are constructed from basalt and linen-based structures. Basalt, a dense rock derived from volcanoes, is proven to outperform glass fiber in strength and is completely non-toxic to the environment. Even the floor of your yacht can be teak salvaged from old homes or boats and refurbished, instead of cutting down existing trees. The options are endless when it comes to reducing your carbon footprint when boating with Sunreef.

Description.

A 2019 launch, the Sunreef 60 OCA holds the title of the first Sunreef Yachts luxury sailing catamaran to have joined the International Multihull Boat Show in La Grande Motte. This stunning customized 60-footer is a dream to sail and offers the best of comfort for private cruises and charter.

OCA’s light-filled interiors were given a relaxing and harmonious décor, mixing greige and cream. Up to eight guests can enjoy sophisticated accommodation in the sailing catamaran’s three classy ensuite cabins and one stylish master suite.

The bright main saloon, generous stern cockpit, and ample front terrace merge into one luminous semi-open lounge area with a functional galley, cozy settees, a widescreen LED TV, and a big dining table with enough seating for all eight guests.

Up on the catamaran ’s impressive flybridge, guests can bask in the jacuzzi, or gather for drinks and dinner on the alfresco lounging spots while enjoying a spectacular sea view.

The new Sunreef 60 catamaran is inspired by the future, yet relies on past design principles of proper proportions, elegant lines and unsurpassed build quality. She embodies a completely fresh superstructure concept, a saloon layout plan with an outstanding potential for customization. The new Sunreef Yachts 60′ catamaran features a vast, central lounging space with panoramic views and endless layout possibilities by opening forward onto the bow terrace and aft into the spacious cockpit.

As with all   Sunreef catamarans from 50′ to 165′  this 60’ yacht can be fully customized to owner’s specifications. Various layout options are available as well.

While housing the main helm, the 400 sqft flybridge is dedicated to leisure with more than enough space for movable furniture, a Jacuzzi, fully-equipped wet bar, a barbecue and large sun pads.

The hulls of the new Sunreef 60’ catamaran provide impressive volumes to set up a custom layout including airy, luxurious guest cabins and an opulent master suite with a walk-in dressing, desk, sofa, retractable TV and an immense bathroom. A perfect setting to unwind and relax after a long day in the sun.
