Benetti Launches 65m superyacht ZAZOU

Benetti has announced the launch of 65m full custom superyacht M/Y Zazou. The steel-hulled yacht features sleek and sinuous lines with an elegant Carinthia blue colour, and was commissioned by a repeat Benetti customer.

Zazou accommodates 12 guests in 6 luxurious double cabins, and the Giorgio M Cassetta-designed superyacht has one of the largest Sun Decks in her category (over 20m in length!). The Sun Deck is complete with a gym, 5-metre long swimming pool and an outdoor cinema on top of another cinema area on the Main Deck.

While Cassetta is the creative force behind the sleek profile, Dutch studio Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design arranged the elegant interiors, some of the outdoor spaces, as well as many furnishing details. These details include full custom-designed furniture, bespoke cabinet handles, and a selection of refined light fixtures, chandeliers and special made retail furniture.

The rooms are distinguished by a refined and welcoming style, characterised by soft tones and the alternation of precious materials among which multiple woods, marbles, and different types of leathers and natural fabrics stand out.

The unique Sun Deck places Zazou at the top of her category, with a 5m long infinity pool at the tipoff the bow. The sky lounge on the Upper Deck integrates naturally with the welcoming outdoor spaces, furnished with custom furniture with two L-shaped sofas and a table for 8 people. Elsewhere on the Upper Deck, there is a massage room which can be converted into a double VIP cabin.

Aft of the Main Deck there is an outdoor area for all day relaxation. In the interior, amidships, there is a large and bright living area consisting of a dining room and relaxation space, which can be transformed into a cinema room. The owner’s suite on the Main Deck consists of a lounge area with TV, double wardrobe, a large bed with a second TV. On the port side, the owner has a large bathroom and a private balcony, accessible by a sliding door.

The large beach area of the Lower Deck boasts two openings on the outside, one at the stern provides access to the beach and a space of about 25sqm with immediate access to the sea. For guests wishing to take their adventure to the water, the garage houses a 7.5m tender and two jetskis.

Zazou is the latest statement of Benetti’s prowess in building magnificent custom superyachts to an owner’s requirement, and she will be delivered in the summer season. Zazou follows the recent launch of Benetti's second 40M Oasis, M/Y Joy, while the Italian builder has also delivered its second Diamond 145 and launched its ninth Mediterraneo 116 this year.

First look inside 65m Benetti superyacht Zazou

Italian shipyard Benetti has offered a glimpse inside the 65 metre superyacht Zazou following its Monaco Yacht Show debut. 

The yacht's interior, which has remained tightly under wraps until now, has been designed by Dutch studio Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design and makes use of exotic marbles, light woods, and a soft palette of colour with hints of sky blue.

Speaking at the Monaco Yacht Show, Paul Costerus of Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, spoke on the design concept. "I like to think of the interior as a musical composition. When you hear it for the first time you like it, but when you listen to it for a second time you start to hear another instrument or a chord that you didn't hear before. If you walk on board Zazou you will notice that it's an embracing atmosphere. When you sit down you will start to discover all the little details which make the boat rich and luxurious."

Based on the same platform as Metis, Zazou features exterior design by Giorgio M. Cassetta with an aluminium superstructure and steel hull painted in "Carinthia blue" at the request of the owner.

Accommodation is for a total of 12 guests across six cabins, including an owner’s suite on the main deck complete with a large bathroom, lounge and private balcony. Aft of the main deck is a dining and relaxation space that can be transformed into a cinema.

Above, the 90 sqm sky lounge is furnished with a pair of L-shaped sofas, while a multi-use massage room that can be converted into a double VIP cabin sits tucked behind the wheelhouse. Up above, the sun deck houses a five-metre infinity pool and is one of the largest sun decks in the category, according to Benetti. The space also houses a gym, bar, table for 10 guests and can even transform into an open-air cinema in the evening.

A 25 sqm beach club on the lower deck opens on two sides: a swim platform at the stern offers easy access to the ocean while a portside hatch opens and transforms into a second platform on the water. Tender storage, meanwhile, is located forward of the main deck and is large enough to hold a 7.5 metre tender, two Jet Skis and a rescue tender.

"There is alot of flexibility on this platform for owners," said Cassetta. "People who are in the market for a boat in this size category generally know what they want. If you have a well balanced platform and design to start with, and the amount of customisation that we can offer on this design, the owner is able to get a custom boat in 30 months which is an incredible advantage."

Power comes from a pair of Caterpillar 3512C delivering a top speed of 16 knots and a range of 5,000 nautical miles when cruising at a more modest 12 knots.

Zazou was launched at the Benetti shipyard in Livorno in April and was delivered to the owner in July.

10 below deck charter guests who will never return to the franchise.

While the charter guests who appear on Below Deck have a great time while filming the show, many aren't invited back for a number of reasons.

• Some charter guests on Below Deck have caused unnecessary drama and won't likely return due to bad behavior.
• Captain Glenn Shephard from Below Deck Sailing Yacht faced backlash from Barrie, who called him two-faced.
• Former guest Dr. Francis Martinis will not return to Below Deck after he was arrested for faking prescriptions.

The Below Deck franchise has featured many charter guests since 2013, many of whom will never return . The Bravo series focuses on expensive charters with wealthy guests who have attitude problems and over-the-top demands. That includes Charter guest Alexis Bellino, who boarded Captain Lee Rosbach’s yacht with her boyfriend at the time, Andy Bohn. She was disrespectful and made everyone uncomfortable with her and Andy's PDA. She even insulted crew members after featuring on the show.

Like Alexis, Delores Flora from Below Deck season 8 was a terrible guest. Not only did she misbehave, but she also got drunk and s wam while intoxicated, which is not only not allowed, it frightened the crew members. Delores got kicked out of the yacht the next day. These guests created unnecessary drama on the boat and will likely never return like a few others from the franchise.

Barrie and Tony Drewitt Barlow had a decent time in the Below Deck Sailing Yacht seasons 2 and 3. Despite that, they left with a bitter taste because of Captain Glenn Shephard. In 2021, Barrie participated in a podcast, Pita Party: The Podcast , where he claimed that Captain Glenn bothered him while using his phone .

Barrie said, “he (Captain Glenn) was a two-face b*stard,” adding that he just didn’t like his presence.

7 Frank Fay

Below deck mediterranean.

In Below Deck Mediterranean season 7, Charter guest Frank Fay had a thing for second stew Kyle Viljoen. He pursued him on the yacht, but unfortunately, their relationship didn’t last. Frank will likely never return to the series as long as Captain Sandy Yawn allows Kyle to work for her. Even if Kyle quits, Frank wouldn’t want to be in an environment that would remind him of his failed relationship.

6 Erica Rose

Erica Rose appeared on Below Deck Sailing Yacht two seasons in a row. Erica was highly offensive toward the crew member, as well as her husband, Charles Sanders, and to make things worse, she left the crew with a measly tip , leading fans to slam her on social media. Ultimately, Erica had to apologize for her bad attitude but never returned to give the crew the tip they deserved. Nobody on Below Deck Sailing Yacht would ever want to return.

5 Justin Guarini

Justin Guarini’s time on Below Deck Sailing Yacht was not dramatic at all; however, he’ll probably never return to the series. Justin wouldn’t return because he wasn't the primary guest. He joined his friend, Kim, who wanted to enjoy a luxury yacht trip. It was more of a one-and-done deal. Secondly, nobody recognized him at all. Viewers later realized who he was and how he was the runner-up on American Idol season 1. Justin is a theatre artist and has made a name for himself. However, it was embarrassing that so many fans had no clue who he was .

4 johnny damon.

Johnny Damon’s time at Below Deck Med was full of explosive moments. Once, he sent the food back, citing that the experience wasn’t “five stars.” On another occasion, his wife, Michelle, created drama by yelling at the owner of another yacht . Overall, the experience was simply terrible on both sides. Crew members didn’t love Johnny and his wife, and the couple didn’t respect the crew members. It is unlikely that Captain Sandy would want to host the couple again as long as she’s in charge.

3 Krystal Murphy

Former charter guest Krystal Murphy boarded Captain Lee’s yacht with her friends. She immediately began showing red flags, drinking, and just being a menace. Krystal fought with her friend, Chelsea, creating unnecessary drama. She even passed out and punched a friend in the face. Former Chief Stew Kate Chastain disliked serving Krystal and called her a “spoiled brat;” she wanted to throw her off the yacht. Nowadays, Krystal has seemingly become a more private person. It doesn’t seem like Krystal would want to be on TV again.

2 Steve Bradley

Below Deck fans should remember Steve Bradley as he made many appearances on the show. In Below Deck season 3, he wanted a foam party and demanded the crew to figure it out and follow his commands, acting like a king. In Below Deck season 6, Steve made more outrageous requests. Apart from being a wild guest, Steve was entitled and acted inappropriately at times . No Below Deck captain would want to host him again as he didn't come off as very likable.

1 Dr. Francis Martinis

Dr. Francis Martinis from Below Deck Med and Below Deck Sailing Yacht has a zero chance of returning. While the former charter guest didn’t have too many issues on the show, his personal life issues will stop him from appearing on Bravo again. According to TMZ , Dr. Francis and his wife, Jessica, were arrested for filling out fake prescriptions in December 2023 . The couple used the names of Below Deck stars and got caught red-handed. The Below Deck franchise would never want to welcome felons, especially when their mugshots are all over the internet.

Below Deck airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
