Inside the Parsifal III

The luxury yacht gained worldwide prominence after featuring in 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht'. Built in 2005 by Italian shipyard Perini Navi, Parsifal III is a 54-meter tall yacht with 460 GT tonnage. She was refitted in 2012 by interior designer Remi Tessier and Perini Navi styled the exterior. Parsifal III sails at the top speed of 16kn with a maximum cruising range of 3400 nm at 13 kn, powered by a diesel engine. Aboard the yacht, there is space for 12 guests in five rooms, including a master suite, two double cabins, two twin cabins, and two pullman beds. Aside from the guests, the yacht can accommodate up to nine crew members, reveals Boat International.

In 2006, Parsifal III was awarded 'Sailing Yacht of the Year' at the World Superyacht Awards. It also won the Best Interior Design — Sail Yacht award and the Sailing Yacht Interior at the Showboats Awards.

According to Charter World , it costs anywhere between $212,859 to $245,606 to rent Parsifal III for a week-long vacation across the sea. It can be well-assumed that the holidaying at the luxury yacht is beyond the average consumer's price range, says Bustle .

Who owns Parsifal III?

Parsifal III is presently owned by Danish entrepreneur Kim Vibe-Petersen. The 65-year-old businessman and inventor calls the luxury yacht a "game-changer".

Vibe-Petersen is the CEO of the firm Scanomat which designs automatic coffee brewers and coffee machines. In 1981, he designed the world's first fully automated cappuccino machine, which was launched in 1985. The company Scanomat is especially known worldwide for its flagship product, the TopBrewer. The company was started over 50 years ago in the early 1960s in Denmark. It is now based out of Kokkedal, Denmark.

CEO Vibe-Petersen is a remarkable man. He did not have a conventional school education because it reportedly bored him. He started working at his parents' vending machine business at the age of 14. Later, he started his own business by innovating cutting-edge products. The first revolutionary success in his business came after the world's first automated cappuccino machine was launched.

"I’m only interested in doing something that no one else has done. I’ve always wanted to do things differently. I’m interested in new things, in developing this world, and hopefully doing things better and more easily than they were done before," he told Boat International .

Vibe-Petersen and his wife Nina owned and chartered out two other Parsifal yachts before — the Unplugged and Ree. The couple stays in a 300-year-old vintage house in Kokkedal, Denmark, near the headquarters of Scanomat. They are proud parents to two sons, Sebastian and Frederik, both of whom are working for their family company.

'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Season 2 premieres on Bravo on Monday, March 1, 2021, at 9/8c.

As a charter guest you could begin your day with a sunrise yoga session on the large foredeck or have an early morning swim in the ocean before taking breakfast on the main deck aft. Here a large curved sofa and loose seating surround an oval dining table shaded by the overhang of the flybridge deck. After breakfast, some of the guests may choose to relax in the many lounging areas while others might want to take advantage of the calm waters and jump in to learn a new watersport. An extensive toybox has something for all ages to enjoy. However you choose to spend the morning, coming together for an al fresco lunch, perhaps prepared on the Teppanyaki grill, is the perfect opportunity to regroup and catch up with your friends and family.

Numerous entertainment options will keep the entire family entertained throughout the afternoon. Relax in the jacuzzi or on the sumptuous sunloungers, or enjoy some relaxation time in the main lounge, perhaps with a movie, all while PARSIFAL III sails on to your next port of call; if the winds are in your favour you could even be moving along under full sail at exhilarating speeds of up to 18 knots.

With the sun setting on the horizon, enjoy more time on deck taking in the view with a cocktail, followed by dinner either in the formal dining room or al fresco on the main deck aft. When it’s time to retire, PARSIFAL III's vast master suite is located aft and benefits from direct access to an extra-large swimming platform – perfect for a private early morning swim. Amidship there are two further doubles and two twins with additional pullman berths. As with all of the interior guest areas, the décor is streamlined and minimalistic, with polished dark ebony and wenge woods contrasting with fine furnishings of cream leather, glass and stainless steel. A stunning retreat, your guests will feel cosseted in luxury as they fall into a deep slumber ready for another day of fun.

Parsifal III: Inside the Below Deck Sailing Superyacht

parsifal yachting owner

The owner of sailing superyacht Parsifal III has opened up about filming the hit yacht-based US reality show Below Deck on board his yacht.

Kim Vibe-Petersen, owner of the 54 metre Perini Navi sailing yacht, gave BOAT behind-the-scenes insight into the production of the reality show, which combines outrageous guests with crew infighting.

Currently showing on US network Bravo, the sailing yacht spin-off Below Deck Sailing Yacht follows seven successful series of the motor yacht focused Below Deck, which has been running since 2013.

While Vibe-Petersen said the dramatic nature of the show is not realistic of day to day charter experiences, he admitted “it’s a popular show and the boat looks great.”

“This is the kind of show where they want to make a little drama,” he added. “It’s not that wild on board a normal charter.”

While admitting he might not be the “specific audience targeted by the series,” he admitted he has sat down to watch the first series, which is set in Corfu. Even in Vibe-Peterson’s home country of Denmark, the US show has reached a “big audience,” he said.

Vibe-Petersen was personally approached by Below Deck producers two years ago after they struggled to find “a boat that they thought could live up to their expectations,” he said.

He admitted there were some yacht owners who didn’t want the names of their yachts connected with the reality show, but he “didn’t have that concern”.

Although he had the option to change the yacht’s name for filing, Vibe-Petersen decided to keep it to maximise the charter appeal of Parsifal III.

“It’s free advertising,” he said. “The name of the yacht will come to people’s minds, especially to someone who has never chartered a yacht before. They will see that name and know the boat from the show.”

With filming for Below Deck taking place in May, Vibe-Petersen was also keen to secure a guaranteed packed charter schedule during low season.

“I think there were a lot of boats that did not want to be chartered for the show but it’s good money in the bank,” he said.

Vibe-Petersen explained the complicated logistics of Below Deck, each season of which features 16 charters filmed across a period of eight weeks. This means that two groups of guests separately charter the yacht in a single week.

The conveyor belt of colourful guests are chosen by the production team and given a “big discount” for appearing on the show, Vibe-Petersen revealed.

Meanwhile, the production team require a time period of at least a week to get Parsifal III rigged up and fit for filming.

“There’s 30 people on board each day with lots of wires and cameras – it’s a big, big operation,” Vibe-Petersen said.

The location of the first series, which was filmed in Corfu, Greece, also posed challenges for Parsifal III, which was required to have a specific charter licence.

“It’s pretty tough to get that,” he said. “It’s not something we can do within a short amount of time. It can take 10 to 12 weeks to get a charter licence so it takes time.”

Although the first series of Below Deck Sailing Yacht is still showing on Bravo, the producers have been so impressed with Parsifal III that the Perini Navi yacht has already been booked for a second series.

To get her match fit, the yacht is undergoing an extensive refit at Pendennis's technical service centre in Vilanova.

This will see Parisfal III treated to a new deck, paintwork and completely new interior. “We’re really spending a lot of money on her now,” Vibe-Peterson said.

The refit is due to be completed on May 2, in time for the crew to depart for filming the second series on May 12.

All aboard PARSIFAL III for Below Deck’s hit spin-off, Below Deck: Sailing Yacht

By Paloma Shemirani   20 October 2023

It is now 10 years since Bravo’s hit series, Below Deck first captivated audiences round the world with its enticing blend of the yachting industry’s opulence and all the drama from reality tv. In 2020, the show launched the spin-off series, Below Deck: Sailing Yacht which marked a departure from the motor yachts that have always been used in the franchise. Here’s an inside look on board the luxury sailing yacht, PARSIFAL III , which has been the setting for all four seasons of the spin-off.

What sets Below Deck: Sailing Yacht apart from the other series in the franchise is, as the title suggests, that it takes viewers on board a whole new type of yacht: the sailing yacht . With this change comes a set of brand new challenges (read: drama) as this type of boat depends heavily on wind conditions– requiring a seasoned crew equipped with handling unforeseen conditions that will affect both the vessel’s maneuverability and thus the charter guests’ on-board comfort.

Sailing definitely adds an element of unpredictability … there’s always danger in everything.' - Captain Glenn Shephard

Too close for comfort

Unlike motor yachts, sailing yachts also have considerably less space: from smaller galleys and crew stations to cramped and crowded crew quarters close to the guest cabins, the crew are under more pressure than ever to provide top quality service to guests as tensions and love triangles have little room to be aired out. With many of the deck duties taking place in the midst of guest areas, it is tough to hide any squabbles and mishaps which will affect the all-important tip that the charter guests leave before they disembark.

Who to expect

Season 4 cast of Below Deck: Sailing Yacht

As in the other Below Deck series, each season is filmed over 6 weeks in the summer charter season, with a new group of charter guests appearing each week.

Navigating the Mediterranean waters is PARSIFAL III’s full-time captain, Glenn Shephard who has worked on the vessel for over 10 years. Keeping both the captain and the boat the same across all 4 seasons, this marks yet another first in the franchise, which has typically varied the boats from season to season and has replaced the full-time crew with a temporary cast during filming. Fan favourites among the cast include Chief Officer Gary King and Chief Engineer Colin Macrea who have been caught in a love triangle in the latest season. There might be some franchise-firsts in Below Deck: Sailing Yacht , but drama remains a steady constant.

Sneak preview of the latest season's drama

What is parsifal iii like.

Delivered by the Italian shipyard, Perini Navi in 2005, PARSIFAL III is famed for her tasteful, ultra-modern interior. She can hold up to 12 guests across 5 cabins, which include the master suite, 2 double cabins, and 2 twin cabins. Each room features stunning high-gloss wood panelling in either dark ebony or light sycamore, which perfectly complements the white furniture and upholstery. In addition to the monochrome color palette, the boat also boasts of having a deck jacuzzi and a hydraulic swim platform– offering luxury charter guests flexibility in where they choose to soak.

Long shot of PARSIFAL III

After a day of watersports, take advantage of the al fresco cinema set up with your favourite drink in hand. With such an impressive list of amenities, it is no surprise that PARSIFAL III was chosen for the Below Deck franchise’s latest instalment– she is indeed one of the most sought after sailing yachts on the charter market.

Where was Below Deck: Sailing Yacht filmed?

The boat and crew might stay the same, but each season of the spin-off show has been filmed in different locations across the Mediterranean:

The first series was filmed from the start of June until the end of July 2019 around Corfu in the Ionian Sea. Cruising at a speed of 10 knots, Captain Glenn took charter guests round the island and to neighbouring beaches on the mainland.

Filmed in the summer following the outbreak of Covid-19, Glenn cruised round Split, Croatia from the end of July until early September.

The luxury yacht returned to where she traditionally charters in the Balearics , sailing all around Menorca from mid-July 2021 until the end of August that year.

Remaining in the West Mediterranean , the fourth season was filmed on the northeastern coast of the beautiful Italian island, Sardinia from June until August 2022.

While season 5 has not aired yet, our intelligence shows that it has been filmed between June and July 2023 around Ibiza – returning again to the Balearic Islands.

How much does it cost to charter the Below Deck sailing yacht?

S/Y PARISFAL III charters from approximately $248 000 plus expenses. If you are interested in recreating the Below Deck sailing charter experience in the Mediterranean, then speak to your preferred charter broker about booking PARSIFAL III.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4: who's who in the new season

Meet the familiar and new faces aboard the Parsifal III this season.

The Parsifal III on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4

It's time to set sail once again with Captain Glenn and the crew of the Parsifal III. Below Deck Sailing Yacht is back for season 4, setting sail from the stunning coves and marinas as Sardinia, Italy.

There are plenty of familiar faces, including Captain Glenn, Daisy Kelliher, Gary King and Colin Macrae. The rest of the crew is made up of newcomers to the show and the franchise, and time will only tell whether they have what it takes to sail the seas aboard the Parsifal III.

Thanks to Bravo, we have biographies for the returning and new members of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4.

Captain Glenn Shephard

Captain Glenn returns for his fourth season on Below Deck Sailing Yacht .

"Originally from Montreal, Capt. Glenn’s life has always been dictated by the need to see the world. Early on in his travels, he was invited onboard a 50-foot classic sailboat to work as a deckhand and was immediately hooked and has never looked back. With over 22 years in the industry and 13 years as the Captain on Parsifal III, Glenn has hosted hundreds of high-end guests over many busy charter seasons. Glenn knows how to keep his cool while catering to the uber elite. This laid-back Captain is calm until his limits are pushed. Don’t mess with Capt. Glenn!"

Daisy Kelliher, Chief Stewardess

"Returning chief stew Daisy Kelliher is considered a yachting legacy. Her grandfather was an Olympic sailor for Ireland in 1964, and her parents – and many aunts and uncles – were yachties. Daisy has a lot to live up to when she returns to Parsifal III after a successful last two seasons and can always be counted on to give you a piece of her mind and let her hair down to have a good time."

Gary King, First Mate

"Having captained smaller boats and run the deck on several busy super yachts, Gary’s 13 years of experience is apparent in the way he runs his deck team. On one hand, he rules his department with an iron fist but on the other hand, he is never the type to leave a party first. He brims with mischievous charm but his flirtation gets him in hot water on and off deck."

Colin Macrae, Chief Engineer

Longtime sailor Colin MacRae worked as a Chief Engineer on super yachts for 15 years before joining Parsifal III for his third season. With a big heart and an impish smile, Colin is more than happy to lend a hand anywhere that he might be needed. However, when Colin’s kindness gets mistaken for weakness, fireworks fly.

Chef Ileisha Dell

Ched Ileisha Dell joins the Parsifal III for her first season.

"With over 17 years of culinary experience, Chef Ileisha has been living her dream as a yacht chef since 2014, merging her passion of cooking, traveling the world and working and living on the water. Originally from a small beach town on the east coast of Australia, she worked her way into some of Sydney’s most prestigious kitchens as a pastry chef. Chef Ileisha has taken many leaps in her career, working as a prep chef for Matt Moran for his cooking show, working as a private chef for one of Sydney’s most famous households and accompanying another family on their yachts across the Mediterranean for two years. To stay in tune with her creativity, Chef Ileisha also loves photography, film, interior design, yoga and scouting for vintage glassware."

Mads Herrera, Stewardess

"Born and raised in South Florida, Mads spent much of her time in the water and on yachts, so it was only natural she ended up in the maritime industry. With two years of experience, Mads has worked on day charters and boat deliveries and is eager for the new challenges of working on a charter yacht. A true adventurer, Mads lives life in the fast line traveling the world, riding dirt bikes and sky diving."

Alex Propson, Deckhand

"Originally from Wisconsin, Alex got his jumpstart in yachting while networking in Los Angeles. He moved to South Florida and kept up his career as a deckhand since achieving his captain’s license. The career change was influenced by the pandemic after spending eight years in sales. You can always find Alex staying active whether practicing yoga, playing basketball or diving in top destinations around the world."

Chase Lemacks, Deckhand

"A southern gentleman from South Carolina, Chase knows how to turn on the charm for the demanding guests this season. Chase originally joined the world of yachting with the dream of one day sailing around the world running charters on a sailboat of his own. Having solely worked on large motor yachts since 2019, it was an exciting challenge and welcome change of pace to come on board a sailing vessel. When he’s not on deck, he loves to get his hands dirty backpacking, hunting and fixing up old homes."

Lucy Edmonds, Stewardess

"Originally from Wales, Lucy shines with a bubbly personality and enthusiasm that makes her the perfect fit for the interior team. After feeling stuck at university during the pandemic, Lucy, who has a wide breadth of experience in the hospitality world, set sail and joined the yachting industry. Before getting her start in the Mediterranean, she worked at high-end restaurants and became a club VIP manager at only 19 years old. When she’s not chartering across the globe, Lucy enjoys a more laid-back lifestyle of playing sports and watching rugby."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 airs Mondays at 8 pm ET/PT on Bravo.

Below Deck yacht owners dish money, crew member parties, and overall feelings about their yachts on Bravo show

Below Deck yacht owners make a lot of money from Bravo show.

Below Deck yacht owners are dishing what it’s like to have their yachts featured on the Bravo show, including the money and crew members partying on the boats.

Fans of the hit yachting franchise have always been curious about the money Below Deck, Below Deck Mediterranean, and Below Deck Sailing Yacht crew members make on the show. It’s good money that includes crew salary, tip, and production fee from Bravo.

Mega money and crew parties on yachts

In an interview with Dockwalk , Bobby Genovese, Kim Vibe-Petersen and Jim Glidewell talked about their yachts being on reality TV.

Bobby owns BG, which Below Deck fans know as The Valor featured in Sea 4,5, and 7. , He revealed the money he makes from renting his yacht. Plus, Bobby also spilled that filming occurred during ski season, which sealed the deal for him.

“I don’t use the boat those six weeks. They paid me a million dollars. They fixed the damage that they caused, my crew got the opportunity to have time off, and it made sense for me,” Bobby shared with the website.

Kim owns Parsifal III, which has been featured on both seasons of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. He weighed in on crew member parties on his yacht in real life versus reality TV life.

“It’s not totally like it is in reality. The crew is jumping around in our Jacuzzi and all over the boat. That part of it is maybe a little overdone,” Kim explained.

What do the Below Deck yacht owners think of the Bravo show?

Jim who owns the Rhino, which Below Deck fans know as Ohana featured in Season 2, praised the show and said it was a no-brainer to lend his yacht to reality TV.

“Bravo has this down to a science. It doesn’t go rough at all. It’s very well done,” he said to Dockwalk. “Captain Lee handled it great, but I had a first mate and an engineer on board for backup, who were not shown on television. I think if people don’t take that charter money, they’re wrong.”

Like Kim, Jim feels the charter guests and crew are not like typical charters. Both yacht owners have nothing but respect for the Bravo franchise. Kim and Jim hope to keep lending their yachts for future seasons of Below Deck and Below Deck Sailing Yacht.

While Bobby doesn’t mind having his yacht featured on the franchise, he has never watched an episode and doesn’t ever plan on it. Bobby revealed that he changed the yacht’s name so people wouldn’t associate the boat with the show.

Overall the three yacht owners are pleased with the Below Deck franchise. They make great money and some of them enjoy seeing their yachts on the small screen.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht airs Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo.

Checking In With All the Former Stars of Below Deck Sailing Yacht

As the crew of parsifal iii sails off into a new season of below deck sailing yacht , we're diving into the reality series' past and checking out what the show's former yachties are up to now..

Uncork the champagne, polish up the guest cabins and iron your polos because—after some potentially disastrous engine issues—Parsifal III has officially set sail in Sardinia, Italy. Sorta.

On board for another wild ride: Chief engineer  Colin Macrae , first mate Gary King , chief stew Daisy Kelliher and all of their post-kiss , will-they-or-won't-they energy .

But even though Captain Glenn Shephard has brought the core gang back together for season four of Bravo's Below Deck Sailing Yacht , he did say ciao to some season three favorites like talented chef Marcos Spaziani and his ability to whip up Michelin-star worthy eats even when the yacht is at a full keel.

And he's not the only crew member to have sailed off into the sunset, with nearly two dozen former deckhands and stews having left behind their polos (and a love for getting sloppy drunk on the flybridge) after just one season of working on the 177-foot vessel.

Some took with them fond memories, season one chef Adam Glick 's website describing "one entire overly dramatic yachting season." Others, a lifetime of being that one person from that show someone loved (or loved to hate).

As the series' pre-Daisy chief stew Jenna MacGillivray joked on Instagram, "I heard Below Deck Sailing is on Netflix. If you're new here, we go by the saying, if you can't say anything nice, ferme la bouche ."

So as we eagerly await the next charter guests that will have us tweeting and the shocking Daisy-Colin boatmance  that left Gary floored ("I'd be lying to you if I said I wasn't jealous," he admitted to E! News ), let's veer off course just a bit and check out what our favorite former yachties are up to now.

After the first season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht , the demanding chief stewardess left Parsifal III and her boatmance with chef Adam Glick behind. The Canada native has since returned to a former love—social work—and a new one: She and boyfriend Dave Cartmill announced their engagement in August 2022.  "It took me a long time to find true comfort and happiness with myself independent of anyone else," Jenna, who riffs on love, life and travel on her podcast Wild Loner , explained on Instagram. "I'm forever thankful I loved myself enough to stay alone long enough to wait for the best person I could have ever imagined for me." The two, who were set up by a mutual friend in 2021, will wed in August 2023.

With two seasons of  Below Deck Mediterranean and season one of Sailing Yacht under his chef's apron, the New Mexico native set sail for new experiences—notably an adventure-based cooking show on OutsideTV. "Currently, Adam can still be found in front of the camera," his website reads. "However, now almost entirely cooking in adventurous outdoorsy settings, i.e. off a tailgate on a cliff, for a Toyota commercial." Those hoping to catch up with the Art Institute of California grad IRL can book a spot at one of his upcoming cooking demos or dinners in Colorado and Oregon.

Though largely settled in Rhode Island, the season one first mate is still a wanderer, completing his fifth Atlantic Ocean crossing last May. Anchoring the U.K. native to the East Coast: Fiancée Johana Mills .  Having split with fellow Sailing Yacht crew member Ciara Duggan months after their 2020 engagement, "I was very lucky myself to meet a 'Harbor town girl' last year who showed me the sights and sounds of Newport when I first arrived on a boat," he explained in an August 2022 post . "For me it was pretty much love at first sight, it might have taken Jo a little while after that first date as I ate 70% of the food....There is no one I'd rather laugh, life with, cry, dance, and attempt all sorts of accents with than you Johana."

"Used to travel for work, now I travel for fun," the season one deckhand proclaims in her Instagram bio . Now back in her native Florida, the experienced first mate and stewardess has moved on from her longterm Paget romance with two new loves: "Mi amor"  Miguel ("Beyond grateful to have you in my life," she wrote on Instagram ) and her adopted pup Yuki.

The South Africa native is still partying like a rockstar and drinking like a sailor, her Instagram offering glimpses of her #yachtlife as she rode a Peloton off the coast of the British Virgin Islands, sun bathed in the Bahamas and took body shots in Saint Martin. And the season one stew is continuing to test the waters in the music industry. Having released her debut album, The Same Mistakes , in 2020, she promised last November : "New music on its waaaaay."

While she disembarked from Parsifal III, the Michigan native didn't leave behind the lifestyle. The "professional chief stew, amateur cheese enthusiast," as she's dubbed herself in her Instagram profile, summarized her 2022 in a January post : "12 countries. 11 states. 3 continents. 1 ending of the year I will never forget. To everyone that has made this year magical, here's to the next." That list includes boyfriend Greg Liuzzo , whom she started dating after a romance with  Below Deck Mediterranean star Rob Westergaard .

Looks like the season two chef's gamble really paid off. "What people don't know is that I went on Below Deck as a bet with one of my friends," the Trinidad native admitted to Island Origins Magazine in November 2022. In the years since her showdowns with chief stew  Daisy Kelliher , she's continued to keep things fiery, appearing as a juror on the Jamaican television series Maggi Food Court , writing a memoir and launching her own series, Cooking With the Classy Chef .  And when she has downtime, no surprise, "I love traveling," she told Island Origins, "because it kind of opens up my thinking to see why people eat the way they eat."

No chance the Brazil native will forget her time as a stew on Parsifal III: After wrapping the boating season, Dani learned she was expecting a baby with deckhand  Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux . (Though Jean-Luc insisted on a paternity test , Dani was never in doubt, famously sharing on the season two reunion , "Well, let's put it this way, this baby was made during the season while we had cameras 24/7 with us and I only slept with one guy, so…") Now living in Sydney where she works as a nursing student, Dani doesn't mention her former flame on her Instagram page, but happily posts about now-22-month-old Lilly . As she wrote in one April post , "One day someone walks in your life and you don't know how you ever lived without them."

Still living that yacht life, the North Carolina native uses his Instagram page to share glimpses of his travels in St. Barts, the Bahamas and Panama. Revealing in January 2022 that a DNA test had confirmed he was Lilly's father, he noted, "Dani and I have been working and communicating together to the best of our ability; given Dani is a full time mother and worker, and I being gone for extended periods of time not knowing when I will step back on land. This is imperative for the sake of our daughter as she needs both parents in her life." While his toddler has yet to grace his feed, he did highlight one special lady, writing of girlfriend Jennifer in March , "My parents always talked about that one person walking into your life and changing it for the better. I just never knew who the person was until now."

Though she technically left the Bravo series in her wake after season two, the stewardess continues to test the waters, often discussing new episodes on the Pita Party podcast she shares with Daisy and Dani, as well as on her and Daisy's  Beneath the Surface  series. Settled back in her native Australia, she also fills her feed with snapshots of " my little water baby ," son River that she welcomed with  Benny Thompson in August 2021.

Leaving her position as second stew in the middle of season three did little to take the wind out of the San Diego native's sails. Post-show, she joined Below Deck alum  Wes O'Dell 's team as his first mate—and girlfriend. "He's working with me, and I couldn't appreciate it more," she shared  on the Gangplank Report podcast in April 2022. "He's super behind me getting my captain's license. He's teaching me everything he knows, and he's super knowledgeable about sailing." Currently based back in her California hometown , Gabriela is still offering Instagram followers a peek at her #yachtlife.

Having whipped up everything from molecular gastronomy dishes to a freaking wedding cake in Parsifal's tiny kitchen, the Venezuela-born chef left season three with a whole menu of options to choose from. In addition to running Marlou , a fusion spot with co-owner  Louis Hu in downtown Los Angeles and their soon-to-open Marlou Lounge, he revealed on the 2022 reunion that he has a contract with UCLA "cooking for 1,600 people per day. So, yeah, I'm pretty booked all the time." As he put it in a New Year's Day post , "Last years was one of biggest years of my life !!!"

Season three's delightfully low-key deckhand is still charting her own course, giving Instagram followers a look at the travels that have taken her everywhere from French Polynesia to Croatia. (A trip to Ibiza even saw her reunite with castmates Ashley Marti and Barnaby Birkbeck .) Currently stationed in the British Virgin Islands, she wrote in a March 27 post , "think I'll stay."

After a season spent flirting and fighting with first mate Gary King , the New York native decided to dive into a new adventure. Teasing the launch of her Only Fans page,  she wrote , "Come see a whole different side of me." Though she's currently based in Miami, after spending time in Southern California with pal Kelsie, she wrote on Instagram March 7 , "How long until Kels convinces me to move to San Diego…best weekend with the best people."

Sybaris: How Perini Navi brought a yachting dream to life

Art-loving, sailing-obsessed yacht owner Bill Duker has poured his life’s passions into Sybaris . Marilyn Mower tours this ground-breaking and life-changing 70 metre ketch

“When my son, West, was about seven years old, I bought a Palmer Johnson sailing yacht named Shanakee . We would go sailing and imagine what our perfect yacht would be like. With friends who helped us refine the dream over 20 years, the boat became our daily conversation. So more than the creating of a high performance yacht, more than the creation of a work of art, it’s been the thing that’s bonded me and my son.”

These words are from Bill Duker’s address to the guests assembled in Viareggio to celebrate the completion of Sybaris , Duker’s Perini Navi ketch, which, at 70 metres, is the largest sailing yacht launched in Italy to date. It is not a coincidence that the yacht’s name is the same as that ancient Italian city-state known for wealth and a lifestyle of extreme luxury and pleasure seeking. “I have three passions — art, poetry and sailing. This boat combines all three,” he says.

Duker is a softly spoken, amiable man who likes projects and enticing people to be creative and thorough. Witness his push for R&D at Perini Navi. As Burak Akgül, managing director of sales, marketing and design, says: “We began talking to the client in 2010 at about the time we had committed to move from the 56 metre to the 60 metre model. We developed this fully custom all aluminium hull interpretation of the 60 especially for him. It has serious performance capability, compared with other recent launches. On a scale of Seahawk to  P2 , it’s more like P2 .”

So determined was he to wring every bit of performance out of Perini, Duker brought naval architect Philippe Briand into the mix to evaluate and fine tune the builder’s design work. “The design of the yacht existed, the GA existed and the initial naval architectural plans had been drawn,” says Briand. “The specifications, the main dimensions, the displacement, the centres of gravity and the height of the masts, as well as draught, [had been] defined and approved by the owner. For the final stages, we worked on the hull lines, the appendages and the sailplan. It is a bigger intellectual challenge to [re]design the existing [hull] for tomorrow as opposed to start from scratch.”

In 2012, Briand’s office conducted CFD tests of the hull lines and made 37 changes, including modifying the waterline length and wetted surface and redrawing the bow and stern shapes. The swing keel and single rudder were optimised, as was the vessel’s stability versus overall weight.

Calling the owner a forward-thinking man with very modern tastes, Perini design chief Franco Romani said the brief for Sybaris challenged his team “to create a new interpretation of their design language. The near vertical bow combined with the low profile superstructure has resulted in a new look for Perini.”

Perhaps the biggest change was moving the mizzen mast back 3.3 metres to improve airflow over the mizzen sail for more driving force and to create space for a mizzen staysail. This sail, flown in apparent winds of 50 to 100 degrees, adds 0.6 knots of speed. “It wasn’t our intention to design a racing yacht,” says Briand, “but we can guarantee Sybaris is a cruising yacht with the potential of sailing excitement.”

In its turn, Perini upped the performance of its electric furling drums and captive sheeting winches, delivering speeds beyond those of its previous benchmark, Seahawk . The powerful sailplan on Sybaris uses North Sails’ 3Di technology and relies on two carbon fibre masts stretching 71.59 metres and 60.96 metres above the water, supplied by Rondal, with Carbolink composite stays and Kevlar running rigging. Controlled by Perini’s latest generation electric winches and software, the system allows the yacht to be sailed entirely from the cockpit consoles.

Sybaris is also breaking new ground for the builder in terms of power management. Two variable speed generators supply electrical power via a DC bus to the vessel’s main electrical grid with the potential to store excess power in a 137kWh lithium polymer battery pack that provides two to three hours of silent operation capability, according to Akgül.

Repositioning the mizzen mast also improves the flow of the main and flybridge deck layouts as it shifts the bottom of the mizzen spar away from the aft glass doors of the main saloon, allowing a large, round dining table to take pride of place under the flybridge overhang. The table is milled from titanium, its base looking like a geared drum and its top scribing a rose petal pattern matched in the overhead — a nod to Duker’s estate, Rosehill, near Albany, New York.

In fact, nearly all the exposed metal on Sybaris is bead-blasted titanium or a smoky bronze. “We chose titanium for the way it looks against the natural American ash millwork, and because the owner wanted something fresh and different,” says Peter Hawrylewicz of PH Design . Although this Miami-based architect and designer is new to yacht design, Sybaris is his 12th project for Duker. Yet she didn’t start out as his project.

“We knew he was interviewing designers and, because it was a yacht, we didn’t consider that he would consider us. One night he took my partner and me to dinner and asked what we thought about taking on the Sybaris project. It was a big surprise. The interior company, Yachtline 1618 , had already been given the contract for the joinery and built-ins,” Hawrylewicz recalls. “Knowing how long Bill had been thinking of this boat was daunting.”

The brief was fairly simple: a neutral path. “Even though we didn’t know all the works of art yet, we knew the interior of Sybaris would be lavished with art from the owner’s contemporary collection and this set the theme,” said the architect. “That also ramped up the pressure on developing the lighting plan. We began developing that plan from the first sketches,” Hawrylewicz says, “selecting the amount and type of lighting we wanted first.”

Aside from major statement fixtures such as chandeliers and sconces, which were designed by Lindsey Adelman, Hawrylewicz developed the fixtures such as the wall washers and down lights that fit in architectural recesses next to each door. By directing light away from the intersection of surfaces butting against walls or ceilings, for example, and by leaving tiny gaps instead, he’s created a sensation of even more space, as if there is something behind the gap that you can’t see.

“The team at Perini was an amazing mentor to us,” says Ken Lieber of PH Design. Interestingly, it was Yachtline 1618’s first Perini project as well. All furniture and surfaces were built offsite and finished before being taken to the yacht for assembly.

Sybaris updates strong features of the Perini Navi design DNA both inside and out. On deck, for example, the recessed cockpit aft of the saloon is still an engaging outdoor living/dining space, but the sweep of terraced steps to it flows beautifully and emphasises the luxury of space that the extra 10 metres delivers. All the furniture, including the bronze end tables with slab marble tops, are from the team at PH Design.

The saloon is open plan, with no structural supports blocking the views. This is no mean feat since there is the load of an 18 metre superyacht sundeck above and the torque of the mainsheet to defuse. The forward bulkhead divides the guest areas from the superyacht wheelhouse , butler’s pantry and the crew stairs to the galley and their quarters.

There are no built-in cabinets in the saloon on Sybaris . Instead four groupings of bureaus, looking like steampunk versions of Louis Vuitton steamer trunks covered in alligator hide, are attached to the walls by titanium straps. The drawers hold glassware and crockery. For handrails around the room, teak batons within titanium turnbuckles add a vintage nautical theme. A dining table is anchored by an ambitious Adelman chandelier and a Ron English Guernica-esque painting commissioned by Duker. Wool and silk carpets by SHIIR of Chicago appear as mirror images in their soft grey and bronze pattern.

The overheads throughout Sybaris are soft matt titanium. Because the cambered overheads on the main deck are 2.1 metres high at window level, the darker material does not cramp the room. It softly reflects and diffuses light and adds a certain liveliness.

“Titanium was entirely Bill’s idea,” says Hawrylewicz. “He said ‘I want to do metal ceilings’ and I thought he meant a thin sheet of painted material, but no, he meant real titanium sheets.” These are rendered in large squares with nearly seamless joints. Titanium, for all its fireproofness and anti-corrosion capability, proved to be a tough material for the yard.

Welded joints tend to leave keloid scars and in the end there was only one subcontractor who could finish the work, from deck rails to the tiny piercings of the overheads for speakers, to both the builder’s and owner’s satisfaction. “If you can dream it, Perini will find a way to build it,” says Duker. “To me, that challenge is why you build a boat.”

Perini Navi aficionados will recall that a superyacht staircase amidships on centreline is the typical access from the saloon to the accommodation for owner and guests. There have been versions with landings, versions with multiple access points and even a spiral. Sybaris delivers a straight fore and aft run of steps but, like the IM Pei pyramid at the Louvre, the staircase is also the way that light — and in this case an epic amount of it — is ushered below to the accommodation lobby, from where all the cabins are entered through very hip titanium-clad submarine doors, with the logo of the bull of Sybaris in the centre of the opening mechanism.

Enormous sheets of laminated tempered glass form the “walls” of the stair column. Hawrylewicz had originally drawn them as a single piece, but no sources yet exist for tempering such large panels of glass. Each of the staircase walls weighs 600 kilograms and they are elastically anchored to the decks above and below. Massive floating oak steps, suspended from the glass with titanium pins, usher guests below.

There are six cabins on the lower deck of Sybaris , including a master suite that takes advantage of the yacht’s full 13 metre beam to create a space to spoil the owner in surroundings of American ash. A superyacht office is situated to starboard with the king-sized bed offset to port. Lindsey Adelman bronze and porcelain sconces above the bed flank an art feature of layers of wood relief that looks a bit topographical. The element was a deliberate contrast to the machined look of many of the pieces in the room and the titanium overhead.

Four pieces of contemporary art dominate the owner’s cabin, which Duker refers to as the poetic centre of Sybaris . Colourful pieces by Roberto Matta, Bäast and Rafa Macarrón contrast with the simple décor while Invisible Domain by Mars-1 opposite his desk seems particularly appropriate.

The bed surround showcases another of the design features in the boat, the mortise and tenon style joinery details that are left exposed. It continues in the full-beam his and hers bathrooms, with their simple palette of ash, stone and titanium. “The simpler the palette, the larger the space,” shares Hawrylewicz. “My goal at the end of the day was to create a yacht that is comfortable, beautiful and perhaps even memorable.”

Or, as the owner wrote in a poem he dashed off on his iPhone thanking his designer:

_The ability to conceive the idea

To place it in the spot exactly where

To light it as if it were in a dream

And make it all so simple seem_

California yacht owner threatens to kill dock worker in vicious showdown, cali yacht owner threatens to kill dock worker drops pants for rude salute, 95 3/13/2024 8:09 am pt.

A California yacht owner's vicious beef with a dock worker has reached death-threat levels -- and their exchange was caught on camera and included a nude, and very rude, gesture!

Check out the clip ... it all unfolds when San Diego entrepreneur Ajay Thakore swings by the swanky Marriott Marquis Marina in his rare $4.5M Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 yacht to pick up one of his employees -- but things boil over when dock worker Joseph Holt tells him he can't be there.

Thakore, the CEO of medical advertising firm Doctor Multimedia, flips out on Holt big time ... and starts spewing threats like, "I will kill you, you know I will kill you, I will kill."

And it doesn't stop there -- as Thakore's pulling out of the harbor, he drops trou to make a full frontal salute in Holt's direction. Stay classy, San Diego!

Holt's only retaliation was flipping the bird, and he later told CBS8 that was all he could do to keep his cool and avoid escalating the situation.

Holt says parts of the altercation were not captured on camera, and he adds ... Thakore not only threatened to kill him, but also claimed to have connections who could totally mess up his life.

Holt also says Thakore pulled out $100 bills and tossed them at him, even chucking some in the water.

BTW, Thakore's done some backpedaling since the ugly exchange -- he now says, "The interaction that occurred yesterday was regrettable. What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange."

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

FWIW ... One of Thakore’s employees claims the whole thing began because other dock workers blocked him from boarding the yacht.

Oh, and if that fancy Lambo yacht looks familiar -- it's the same one Chuck Liddell recently tumbled off just last month. Now it's famous AND infamous!

The owner of a $3.4 million Lamborghini yacht screamed 'I will kill you' and threw $100 bills into the water when told he couldn't use a private dock

  • The owner of a Lamborghini yacht threatened a private dock employee, per CBS8.
  • The employee said Ajay Thakore mooned and threw cash at him after being told he couldn't use the dock.
  • Thakore, the CEO of Doctor Multimedia, issued an apology through his public relations team.

Insider Today

The owner of a $3.4 million Lamborghini yacht threatened a private dock employee after being told he couldn't be there, the San Diego-based broadcaster CBS8 reported on March 11.

Joseph Holt, a 21-year-old employee at Marriot Marina in San Diego, told CBS8 that he spotted the yacht sailing into the private dock. The owner, whom CBS8 identified as Ajay Thakore, tried to pick another person up at the dock, Holt said.

"I told him respectfully that he couldn't be there, and I honestly was hoping to have a conversation with him about his cool boat," Holt told CBS8.

In a YouTube video posted by @SM-wc9eq on March 10, a dark blue Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 is seen sailing out of a dock. A man in a gray T-shirt, a pair of jeans, and a cap was shown standing on the yacht. The man appeared to be Thakore, per CBS8.

Thakore was shown shouting at Holt. "I will kill you, you know I will kill you!" he can be heard saying multiple times in the video

Thakore was later shown pounding his fist on his palm and pointing his thumb down before telling Holt: "To your face!" Holt was shown responding by pointing his middle finger at Thakore.

"I really was trying to restrain myself from getting fired from my job or stepping out of line. The only thing I did was give him the bird," Holt told CBS8.

Holt said Thakore then took $100 bills from his wallet and threw them at him. He added that Thakore mooned him. This exchange was not shown in the video.

"He was saying I'm nobody, I'm nothing, I work a silly job. He said that he knows people, he has connections, he can change my life and ruin it," Holt said. Holt did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.

The San Diego Harbor Police arrived at the marina 10 minutes after Thakore's yacht exited the dock, per CBS8. The Harbor Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment from BI.

According to Thakore's LinkedIn page , he's the CEO of Doctor Multimedia. The company's website shows that it's a healthcare marketing firm based in San Diego. Thakore appears to go by the name Ace Rogers on Instagram and TikTok, where he's noted as being a professional gambler.

Thakore, through his public relations team, told CBS8 in a statement that his altercation with Holt was "regrettable."

"What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange," the statement said. Thakore did not immediately respond to a request for comment from BI.

Thakore isn't the only CEO who's been called out for threatening another person. In November 2021, an Activision spokesperson told BI that its ex-CEO Bobby Kotick had previously apologized for telling his assistant he would have her killed. The spokesperson added that Kotick's threat was "obviously hyperbolic and inappropriate" and that "he deeply regrets the exaggeration and tone."

In June 2020, Lisa Alexander, the CEO of LaFace Skincare, a cosmetics company, apologized in a statement to the media after she had threatened to call the police on her neighbor for writing "Black Lives Matter" on his property. Strange Glow Over Moscow Skies Triggers Panic as Explosions Reported

B right flashes lit up the night sky in southern Moscow in the early hours of Thursday morning, new footage appears to show, following reports of an explosion at an electrical substation on the outskirts of the city.

Video snippets circulating on Russian-language Telegram channels show a series of flashes on the horizon of a cloudy night sky, momentarily turning the sky a number of different colors. In a clip shared by Russian outlet MSK1.ru, smoke can be seen rising from a building during the flashes lighting up the scene.

Newsweek was unable to independently verify the details of the video clips, including when and where it was filmed. The Russian Ministry of Emergency situations has been contacted via email.

Several Russian Telegram accounts said early on Thursday that residents of southern Moscow reported an explosion and a fire breaking out at an electrical substation in the Leninsky district, southeast of central Moscow.

Local authorities in the Leninsky district told Russian outlet RBC that the explosion had happened in the village of Molokovo. "All vital facilities are operating as normal," Leninsky district officials told the outlet.

The incident at the substation in Molokovo took place just before 2 a.m. local time, MSK1.ru reported.

Messages published by the ASTRA Telegram account, run by independent Russian journalists, appear to show residents close to the substation panicking as they question the bright flashes in the sky. One local resident describes seeing the bright light before losing access to electricity, with another calling the incident a "nightmare."

More than 10 villages and towns in the southeast of Moscow lost access to electricity, the ASTRA Telegram account also reported. The town of Lytkarino to the southeast of Moscow, lost electricity, wrote the eastern European-based independent outlet, Meduza.

Outages were reported in the southern Domodedovo area of the city, according to another Russian outlet, as well as power failures in western Moscow. Electricity was then restored to the areas, the Strana.ua outlet reported.

The cause of the reported explosion is not known. A Telegram account aggregating news for the Lytkarino area described the incident as "an ordinary accident at a substation."

The MSK1.ru outlet quoted a local resident who speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but no other Russian source reported this as a possible cause.

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Moscow with long-range aerial drones in recent months, including a dramatic wave of strikes in late May.

On Sunday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the region's air defense systems had intercepted an aerial drone over the city of Elektrostal, to the east of Moscow. No damage or casualties were reported, he said.

The previous day, Russian air defenses detected and shot down another drone flying over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow, Sobyanin said.

There is currently no evidence that an aerial drone was responsible for the reported overnight explosion at the electrical substation in southern Moscow.

For the first time Rosatom Fuel Division supplied fresh nuclear fuel to the world’s only floating nuclear cogeneration plant in the Arctic

The fuel was supplied to the northernmost town of Russia along the Northern Sea Route.

The first in the history of the power plant refueling, that is, the replacement of spent nuclear fuel with fresh one, is planned to begin before 2024. The manufacturer of nuclear fuel for all Russian nuclear icebreakers, as well as the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, is Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC), a company of Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL that is based in Elektrostal, Moscow Region.

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactors of the icebreaking type. Unlike convenient ground-based large reactors (that require partial replacement of fuel rods once every 12-18 months), in the case of these reactors, the refueling takes place once every few years and includes unloading of the entire reactor core and loading of fresh fuel into the reactor.

The cores of KLT-40 reactors of the Akademik Lomonosov floating power unit have a number of advantages compared to the reference ones: a cassette core was used for the first time in the history of the unit, which made it possible to increase the fuel energy resource to 3-3.5 years between refuelings, and also reduce the fuel component of the electricity cost by one and a half times. The FNPP operating experience formed the basis for the designs of reactors for nuclear icebreakers of the newest series 22220. Three such icebreakers have been launched by now.

For the first time the power units of the Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear power plant were connected to the grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020. The supply of nuclear fuel from Elektrostal to Pevek and its loading into the second reactor is planned for 2024. The total power of the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, supplied to the coastal grid of Pevek without thermal energy consumption on shore, is about 76 MW, being about 44 MW in the maximum thermal power supply mode. The FNPP generated 194 million kWh according to the results of 2023. The population of Pevek is just a little more than 4 thousand, while the FNPP has a potential for supplying electricity to a city with a population of up to 100 thousand people. After the FNPP commissioning two goals were achieved. These include first of all the replacement of the retiring capacities of the Bilibino NPP, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya TPP, which has already been operating for more than 70 years. Secondly, energy is supplied to the main mining companies in western Chukotka in the Chaun-Bilibino energy hub a large ore and metal cluster, including gold mining companies and projects related to the development of the Baimsk ore zone. In September 2023, a 110 kilovolt power transmission line with a length of 490 kilometers was put into operation, connecting the towns of Pevek and Bilibino. The line increased the reliability of energy supply from the FNPP to both Bilibino consumers and mining companies, the largest of which is the Baimsky GOK. The comprehensive development of the Russian Arctic is a national strategic priority. To increase the NSR traffic is of paramount importance for accomplishment of the tasks set in the field of cargo shipping. This logistics corridor is being developed due regular freight voyages, construction of new nuclear-powered icebreakers and modernization of the relevant infrastructure. Rosatom companies are actively involved in this work. Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL (Rosatom Fuel Division) includes companies fabricating nuclear fuel, converting and enriching uranium, manufacturing gas centrifuges, conducting researches and producing designs. As the only nuclear fuel supplier to Russian NPPs, TVEL supplies fuel for a total of 75 power reactors in 15 countries, for research reactors in nine countries, as well as for propulsion reactors of the Russian nuclear fleet. Every sixth power reactor in the world runs on TVEL fuel. Rosatom Fuel Division is the world’s largest producer of enriched uranium and the leader on the global stable isotope market. The Fuel Division is actively developing new businesses in chemistry, metallurgy, energy storage technologies, 3D printing, digital products, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities. TVEL also includes Rosatom integrators for additive technologies and electricity storage systems. Rosenergoatom, Joint-Stock Company is part of Rosatom Electric Power Division and one of the largest companies in the industry acting as an operator of nuclear power plants. It includes, as its branches, 11 operating NPPs, including the FNPP, the Scientific and Technical Center for Emergency Operations at NPPs, Design and Engineering as well as Technological companies. In total, 37 power units with a total installed capacity of over 29.5 GW are in operation at 11 nuclear power plants in Russia. Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC, Elektrostal) is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of fuel for nuclear power plants. The company produces fuel assemblies for VVER-440, VVER-1000, RBMK-1000, BN-600,800, VK-50, EGP-6; powders and fuel pellets intended for supply to foreign customers. It also produces nuclear fuel for research reactors. The plant belongs to the TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom.
