  • With a broad variety of boats and brands on display, you gain a better understanding of each different design and its features making it easier to establish which vessel best suits your individual needs.

Lw45 Popup Plumbing

Plumbing System

The Lightwave 46 has 800L of fresh water & 800L of diesel, in tanks that are built directly into the hull. High quality, purpose grade materials are used in this labour intensive construction method which guarantees an extremely high-quality product that will last for the lifetime of the boat. Dual freshwater pumps provided piece of mind through redundancy. A water transfer line is built into the system to allow water to travel between either tank. Fresh water vacuum toilets that use minimal fresh water (less than 400ml per flush) are a standard feature on the Lightwave 46, eliminating the stale saltwater smell that can encroach the cabin area.  A saltwater system is also fitted to the vessel to allow an anchor wash, saltwater tap in the galley and hose in the cockpit.

L46i Engine 2

Electrical System

The Lightwave 46 is designed for self-sufficient blue water cruising. The vessel is supplied with a 12-volt DC and a 240-volt AC electrical system. A 600Ah AGM battery system is offered on the vessel with an optional 660Ah lithium-ion battery bank. There are various solar options producing up to 2000kw of power. There is also the option to have a 4Kw AC diesel generator which is coupled with the inverter to allow for a high output. All areas of the vessels electrics are designed to be easily accessible and traceable with minimal disruption to the boats systems. Electrical components on the Lightwave 46 are carefully selected to ensure a minimum power consumption is achieved. Onboard systems incorporate the latest in technology, allowing remote control and monitoring of critical power systems, battery and charging status, tank levels, bilge pumps, aerial and security CCTV as well as an array of other custom options.

Lw45 Popup Engine

Engineering Systems

The Lightwave 46 offers a very spacious area in the external engine rooms, to accommodate the standard 50hp engines & other engineering systems. All steering components as well as the optional generator are housed in the engine rooms, carefully positioned for ease of access for servicing and maintenance. The engine rooms are separated from the accommodation area with a bulkhead lined in sound dampening material to defer noise, heat and odour from entering the cabins. The engine rooms are also accessible from the inside of the boat if required.

Sailing Systems

Designed with the priority for the ultimate sailing experience , t he deck layout and sail ing systems are configured for ease of handling while shorthanded. The line system on the Lightwave 4 6 has been designed so all lines are organised and accessible from an area where the sails can be easily observed. Lines all lead to the cockpit and travel under serviceable fibreglass boards which not only keep the lines organised, but also remove possible tripping hazard s . Hanging points are purposely provided creating a neat and organised place for line tails to be stored. Anderson winches and Ronstan deck gear are s uperiorly selected as standard equipment, with optional electric winches also available. A bridal main sheet system is cleverly applied to eliminate the safety concerns of a traveller car system traditionally used on catamarans.

What Choose

Sailing boat or Catamaran, what to sail in Gold Coast

At Yachting.Rent, we understand the joy and excitement of sailing in the sun-soaked waters of Gold Coast, Queensland. With a variety of options in our fleet, including both sailing boats and catamarans, we are committed to helping you choose the perfect vessel for your adventure.

So, which to choose? Sailing boat or Catamaran? Let’s delve into the distinctive attributes of each.

Sailing boats, traditional and timeless, provide an intimate connection with the sea. The sensation of the hull cutting through the waves, the heeling in the breeze, and the sound of the wind in the sails offer an unparalleled sailing experience. Sailing boats are perfect for those who seek an active role in their journey, trimming sails and plotting the course. Additionally, their deeper drafts make them a preferable option for offshore sailing, ideal for exploring the Pacific Ocean around the Gold Coast.

On the other hand, catamarans, with their dual-hull design, promise stability, spaciousness, and speed. They offer expansive deck areas, perfect for sunbathing, socializing, or simply enjoying the panoramic views of the Gold Coast skyline and surrounding islands. The shallow draft of catamarans allows you to navigate closer to the shoreline, exploring hidden coves or the intricate canal system of the Gold Coast. This makes them a popular choice for family trips, group gatherings, or those planning to anchor and dive into the Queensland waters frequently.

At Yachting.Rent, we offer a range of both sailing boats and catamarans, ensuring that we have the right fit regardless of your preferred sailing style. Our team is ready to guide you in your selection, considering your group size, sailing experience, and specific needs.

Whether you choose the dynamic charm of a sailing boat or the comfort and stability of a catamaran, sailing in Gold Coast, Queensland promises an unforgettable journey. Unleash your inner explorer with Yachting.Rent, and let the ocean be your playground.

Voyager Catamarans – Better by design

Voyager Catamarans is a family owned business, established on Queensland’s Gold Coast 20 years ago designing and building a range of modern power catamarans suited for today’s world.

Design engineer (and company founder) – Derek Appleton, engaged specialist Naval architects to take advantage of state of the art technology to create advanced new hull designs producing superior sea keeping abilities with more efficient performance.

Voyager provides a personalized friendly service that works hard to identify each customer’s needs, and then helps them to effectively achieve their goals.

The advantages of catamarans have long been recognized by Sea Rescue and Commercial operators, but the interest and demand of pleasure boaters had been largely ignored with only boxy looking, or pure fishing designs with few creature comforts being previously available. Voyager catamarans brought power cats into the 21 st century. They are sleek, fast, soft riding and dry, and are appointed to offer a level of style and comfort normally only associated with top ranking mono-hulls. The innovative layouts are roomy and practical with the maximum use of space embarrassing other vessels.

Construction

All hulls have a structural lay up equivalent to 2C offshore survey and feature solid glass to the waterline, and the extensive use of high strength, light weight sandwich composites in the topsides, decking, floors and bulkheads. Glass laminates are engineered with layers of hand laid multi-axial woven glass cloth ensuring uniform thickness and maximum strength.

The safety and stability of catamarans has become legendary offshore and can tackle conditions that have other boats heading for home. The buoyancy of twin hulls situated at the sides of the boat also allows crew to move around and stand on the sides without virtually any movement. Their twin engine set up gives much better maneuverability and the safety of a second engine, which is actually compulsory in some countries.

Performance

Voyager designs feature many improvements over earlier generation catamarans including greater forward buoyancy, progressive full length wave breaker, internal spray chines, and higher tunnel clearance. These vessels are able to maintain higher average speeds in poor conditions while providing very stable and reassuring sea handling.

The greatly improved dynamics of the hulls gives unmatched rough water handing, while the air & water vapour is exhausted cleanly out the back and alleviating suck back effects that can exist on other boats. The efficiency of the hulls can also be clearly seen in the very small wake left when traveling at speed.

Voyager’s semi-displacement cruising catamarans can operate on a quarter to a third, of the fuel consumption of equivalent mono-hull boats, and with fuel costs continually on the rise, this is becoming a major factor in the purchasing decisions of new boat owners. Modern construction reduces overall vessel weight, which improves performance and reduces fuel consumption, helping these vessels to perform well even with lower horse power.

Environmental

An obvious benefit of the very efficient design and low fuel consumption is also the much lower pollution generated, but a less obvious one is the important reduction in the erosion of river or estuary shores from the very low wash (not to mention the comfort of other waterway users).

First look: Four Seasons Yachts to set sail in 2026

The Canadian hotel group is now afloat with 10 cruise offerings.

David Smiedt

Don't miss out on the headlines from Lifestyle. Followed categories will be added to My News.

Set to sail in 2026.

Everyone from Ritz Carlton to Belmond and Aman have recently announced they are going to expand their hotel offerings from land to sea. Muscling on traditional super-yacht territory and blurring the lines between cruise ship and luxury hotel, Four Seasons is the latest to pull away from the dock.

The new vessels will have 95 suites and the first 10 itineraries will focus on the Mediterranean and Caribbean. Which translates into 130 distinct destinations across over 30 countries and territories. The first Four Seasons Yacht, currently under construction in Ancona, Italy, will welcome its first guests from January 2026 with a seven night jaunt around Saint Barthélemy (St Barths), Nevis, the Grenadines, St Lucia, Barbados, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Curaçao and Aruba.

If the Med is more your jam, Four Seasons Yachts will be cruising there in March 2026 with sailings through Croatia, Gibraltar, Montenegro, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Türkiye. Greece will also be a focus with stops in Athens, Ios, Santorini and Milos.

It's all about space on the Four Seasons Yacht.

A sense of space

If you've ever been on a cruise boat, you'll know the cabins can be a tad squishy. Even the pricey ones. However, under the guidance of the marvellously named  Creative Director Prosper Assouline (of eponymous book publishing fame), Four Seasons promises "50 per cent more living space per guest than currently available with any competitor at sea". We're talking all suites with floor-to-ceiling windows, double vanity bathrooms with spacious showers and private terraces - as opposed to mere balconies.

One of the cleverest aspects of the vessels is modular walls in the signature suites which can be reconfigured for various groups of travellers. That means that if you're on board with the fam there will be a more than 100 different interconnection options. If you have the cash or the crowd, you reserve an entire side of a deck amid your  1,200 square metres of total living space. Again remember, we are on a boat here.

You will have to share the pool though.

Suite surrender

According to Four Seasons, "The largest accommodations are seven signature suites ranging from 277 to 927 square metres of indoor and outdoor living space. They offer two to three bedrooms, separate living rooms, indoor and outdoor dining spaces, splash pools, outdoor showers and the option to connect to additional suites." If you're bent on living large(r), the Funnel and Loft Suites will sway you.  Both feature three bedrooms, outdoor showers and splash pools but it's the Funnel that tops out the offering with four levels and  wraparound windows, made up of the largest contiguous piece of glass at sea, offering 280-degree panoramic views. And did we mention the 1:1 staff ratio throughout the liner?

We'll take the Funnel Suite thanks.

More Coverage

One last thing.

There are 11 dining options on board - which it what you'd expect from The Four Seasons - but the pool warrants a mention. At almost 19 metres long and five wide, it's a monster for the industry and the pool deck itself features a hydraulic design that allows it to level out, creating a private events space.
