The molded fiberglass Salon door with large window and teak finish automatically slides open and has a key lock. Custom Antico flooring lays elegantly at salon entrance. The rest of the salon has wall-to-wall carpeting with lead lined padding for sound absorption, a canvas carpet runner, and teak trim where Amtico Noor meets carpet. Fixed frameless side windows with tinted tempered glass are accented with Custom embroidered fabric & Teak valances and Hunter Douglas silhouette blinds. Behind the valances lay indirect decorative rope lighting behind valances.Overhead Xenon lights are recessed with dimmer switches. The salon has a teak aft bulkhead and teak cabinetry with drawers and bottle storage. The large L-shaped sofa with underneath storage for rods hugs a Satin Teak hi/low cocktail table and faces a Pop-up LED TV. Facing the spacious galley countertops sit counterweighted movable bar stools in front of the Teak-stepped spiral staircase to the Flybridge. The Salon Day Head is lined with Attic flooring, Custom Alligator skin wallpaper, and a mirrored backsplash over the vanity with a granite countertop and satin Grohe fixtures. Behind the Head Hunter elongated head is a Teak cabinet with access to a large brow storage room with an electric panel and central vacuum system.

Galley and Laundry:

The Galley features custom Amtico teak & holly flooring, Granite counter tops with a 6” overhang for bar stool area, and a custom granite galley island with (2) custom release bar stools, all accented with a mirrored backsplash and dimmers on the overhead halogen lights. Functionally there are double stainless steel sinks under the counter mount with a satin Grohe faucet. The Galley boasts ample storage between the refrigeration and freezers, the (2) Teak faced cabinets with long pullout drawers for food storage, large cabinetry under the cooktop for storage, and the pullout dinnerware storage. Across from the Galley is the Dinette with booth-style seating hugging a teak table with satin finish and a single thru-bolted pedestal. The cushions are removable offering additional storage underneath. There is a teak divider between the Dinette and Salon and the Companionway entrance is located behind the Dinette down the teak stairwell with carpeted teak steps and a teak handrail. Through the Companionway, the walls are padded with teak accents and the floors are carpeted with canvas covering runners. The overhead Xenon lights are recessed in headliner. There is storage throughout the Companionway. The Companionway has access to another electric panel, the water tank level gauge and pump indicator located in the sub-panel, bilge areas with awl grip access hatches, the central vacuum unit connection with accessories, and the Laundry Center with NEW Miele stackable washer and dryer behind a teak door.

Master Stateroom

The VIP Suite is forward and features custom wallpaper and carpeting with a custom teak headboard over a center-line queen pillow top mattress topped with a quilted bedspread and (4) large storage drawers underneath. Teak storage cabinets line both sides of the bed accompanied with (6) overhead teak cabinets, a lovely teak shelf, and a spacious, cedar-lined, teak hanging locker offering ample storage. The VIP has mirrored bulkheads and a bomar hatch. The suite comes complete with a 26" Sharp Flat Panel TV, Direct TV, overhead stereo speakers, stereo speakers recessed in headlined tied into TV and stereo, overhead Xenon lights and decorative rope lighting, and separate switches for reading lights. Pershing 82 VHP and Pershing 74: new versions offering fresh delights

The interior concepts of the two famous coupés have been overhauled, with luxurious and sophisticated furnishing solutions. The Pershing 82 VHP engines now offer even better performance. For over 30 years, Pershing has epitomized the idea of cutting-edge yachting that unfailingly sets new benchmarks in design, luxury and performance. It has once again underlined its credentials on this front with the revamped versions of two worldwide best sellers yachts. The vessels in question are the new Pershing 74 - an exciting, highly contemporary incarnation of one of the brand’s most emblematic yachts -, and the Pershing 82 “Very High Performance” (VHP), a “jet fighter” of the seas that has both a new interior design scheme and more powerful engines. Created by the yacht designer Fulvio De Simoni in partnership with the Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Committee and Engineering Department, they feature completely reworked furnishings that have been enriched with stylish new detailing and refined wood. The breath-taking Pershing 82 VHP is capable of breaking the 50-knot barrier and it has an astonishing cruising speed of 45 knots. This is all thanks to the new combination of twin MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines that generate 2,638 mhp at 2,450 rpm, together with Top System 95S surface propellers. In order to accommodate these changes, Pershing’s team of designers and engineers has altered the layout of the engine room, the heights of the stern garage and the positions of the air intakes. The interiors of the Pershing 82 VHP meet the same exceptional standards set on the performance front. They are sparklingly luxurious and feature a tasteful array of superlatively sophisticated, quintessentially Italian products and style. After a fulfilling day on the water, the Pershing 82 VHP is the ideal place to enjoy panoramic views while savouring a relaxing, all-encompassing sense of peace and tranquillity. Dark or pale streaked oak embellished with numerous dark grey lacquered details creates a refined atmosphere in the main lounge: a large, pleasant open space where guests can take it easy, surrounded by enchanting Poltrona Frau furnishings and leather. The items of furniture include a sizeable “Quadra” sofa and a “Laurana” wooden table with a glass top. Poltrona Frau is one of Pershing’s long-standing partners and it has also upholstered the large helm station and the three ergonomic, sporty seats for the captain and the co-pilots. The interior design scheme reaches its artistic and creative zenith below deck. At the bottom of the steps is an area providing access to the four cabins. The corridor is decorated with alternating mirrored bulkheads and full-length panelling with metallic patterned Èlitis wallpaper. A strip of LED lighting on the floor emphasizes the wall profile and boosts the sense of depth in the surroundings. The same stylistic effect appears in the master suite, on both the forward and stern bulkheads. Two burnished mirrors make the cabin feel even bigger. In addition to the master and VIP suites, both equipped with en-suite bathrooms, the main area features two guest cabins with a shared bathroom. Taking pride of place in the heads are Bisazza mosaics, Pomd’or accessories and exquisite Antoniolupi basins. The outer doors of the cabins are covered with Poltrona Frau leather. On request, the starboard guest cabin can be replaced by a media room that opens out on to the lobby. Aluminium LED profiles are used in the ceiling lighting system, which has also been overhauled in all of the rooms. The Pershing 74 is one of the company’s biggest recent successes and it too has been given a substantial redesign. The new key features are the updated shades of the on-board décor and the new Alpi wood and lacquer details, which provide a common thread running through the different rooms, appearing in everything from the curtain and mirror frames to the bathroom cabinets. The fondness for sophisticated finishes and fine details is already plain to see in the lounge, furnished with a large, L-shaped corner sofa towards the stern, a central table with a smooth leather top and a structural unit with a retractable 40” flat screen TV. Ceilings and bulwarks are covered with Poltrona Frau leather in a light shade especially created to finish these decorative features. The leather on the helm station and seating is also made by Poltrona Frau. It marvellously complements the other finishes and the white oak flooring. The galley is mid-level between the main deck and below deck. The units are coated with white gloss lacquer and once again there is a contrasting effect thanks to the dark Corian top. The lower deck magnificently blends natural light with LEDs, creating appealing effects that really bring out the ivory and dark grey hues of the interiors. In the full beam master suite, the panelling covered with Vescom wallpaper is masterfully broken up by “strips” of LED lighting. Two burnished mirrors make the space feel bigger and there is a king-size bed upholstered with Poltrona Frau leather, as well as two Artemide wall lights. Rounding off the furniture is a chaise longue with textile upholstery by Zimmer + Rohde. The style of the master suite is reproduced in both the foredeck VIP cabin and the guest cabin, which comes with two parallel beds and can be fitted with a pullman bed on request. They are all adorned with the same dark grey lacquer detailing, ceiling coverings, ice-coloured bulwarks and leather Poltrona Frau upholstery. There are ivory carpets in all of the cabins. The basins in the bathrooms are made by Brera and the mixer taps by Ritmonio. The Pershing 74 is equipped with twin MTU 12V 2000 M96L high performance engines that generate 1,948 mhp. They give a top speed of 44 knots and a cruising speed of 40 knots, while offering maximum comfort with the trim at all times. The EASYSET system produced in exclusive partnership with TopSystem automatically optimizes the performance and the trim of the surface propellers, adapting to variations in the engine load and the speed of the yacht.

On board Sunseeker's 74 Sport Yacht

The 74 Sport Yacht shares many design traits (and a thrillseeker’s flair for speed) with its stablemate, the Predator 74, – but piles on more for its guests’ comfort and entertainment.

“If you were to compare the Predator and the Sport Yacht to cars, the Predator is a Porsche 911 and the Sport Yacht is a Panamera,” says Sean Robertson, sales director at Sunseeker International. “It still has the performance, it still has the looks, but it offers more practicality. For us, that’s how the Sport Yacht was born.”

Sunseeker began making this line when it noticed a missing link in the market offerings after the 2009 financial crisis. “The first of the Sport Yachts tried to marry a flybridge with a Predator and, to be honest, it’s difficult to keep that DNA, the looks and the performance,” says Robertson. “You add height, equipment and weight, which sometimes doesn’t sit happily on a Predator-configured hull.”

More than a hybrid, the 74 Sport Yacht shows the evolution of this species: Predator looks combined with more liveable spaces to create something entirely new. The two models share the same succession of three progressively larger hull windows with long expanses of black glass divided by white, tooth-like jags of hull and the same taut, forward-reaching curves. “I think that the 74 shows what can be done with the Sport Yacht concept,” says Robertson. “You’ve got the great looks, the great curve appeal, but it still takes on the new values that we want for the brand.”

Bryan Jones, marketing manager of Sunseeker, explains more about the direction they want to move in. “We’re thinking more about comfort; glazing now is larger for more light and usable space,” he says. “But we’re also thinking about the environment; designing more efficient hull shapes and systems.” To this end, the yard has teamed up with Blue Marine Foundation on Project Menorca, to preserve the island’s marine environment.

Boarding the Sport Yacht, it’s clear how the design makes the best use of every space. Built into the transom, above the hydraulic beach platform, there is a convenient fold-down bench on top of access points to the tender garage, and an en suite cabin for two crew members. The aft guest cockpit has a table with banquettes and large sunpads on a platform to stern, and the table can adjust in height and fold out to become an additional sunbathing area.

One spectacular feature of this area is invisible at times: the 74 Sport Yacht has cockpit glazing that can slide across to open like a conventional glass door but can also hydraulically lower to disappear, leaving the saloon and cockpit as one space. The saloon’s large windows are without mullions for uninterrupted views, and additional light shines through the sunroof above the helm. Lightness and brightness are picked up in the lines of the clean, modern furnishings that include a U-shaped sofa and table facing a bar that conceals a flat-screen television.

Moving forward, twin helm seats are flanked by a love seat to one side and a door to the side deck on the other. The foredeck has another large sunpad and a U-shaped banquette around a table – a perfect spot for drinks or a quiet meal.

The galley and guest cabins are on the lower deck. In the three-cabin version, the owner’s cabin with en suite is amidships, aft of the galley, and uses the yacht’s full beam to its advantage. The VIP is forward with a twin cabin starboard. Families might find it convenient to put guests up in the fully private owner’s cabin using the VIP and the twin cabin themselves as they are on the same level and work well together as a suite. All cabins are en suite and receive fresh air through opening portholes inserted into the hull windows.

If the layout, materials and furnishings seem familiar to those who have already boarded the Predator, there is a good reason. “Realistically, the Predator 74’s main and lower decks are the same as the 74 Sport Yacht’s,” says Robertson. “The layout and the systems are the same. The differences begin at the hardtop moulding.”

While looks and performance cues come from the Predator 74, it’s the addition of the flybridge that sets the 74 Sport Yacht apart. “That was the key: to give clients this practicality and extra entertainment space without ruining the Predator style,” says Robertson. “The Sport Yacht has the flybridge, but unless you really concentrate on the side profile, it’s so well hidden it’s almost lost.” Jones confirms that designers at Sunseeker worked hard to keep the flybridge low, incorporating it into the silhouette. This means the Sport Yacht keeps its precious DNA while adding an outdoor helm station and the seating, dining and sunbathing spaces that make it an ideal option for owners who want to enjoy a fast run in the sun with family and friends.

With the addition of the flybridge, the 74 Sport Yacht has kept the Predator’s capacity to thrill while adding a dimension of its own. “Depending on the propulsion package, you get 35 to 40 knots’ boat speed,” says Jones. “And it’s about that flybridge helm,” Robertson picks up. “You’re higher up, outside. You put the boat up to 38, 40 knots, crank it into a hard turn and it’s just an amazing feeling,” he says, clearly reliving the fun. “It just puts the biggest smile on your face to be on a yacht that size, up that high. That performance and agility on a big boat really is good fun; that’s what it’s all about.”

Sport Yachts have quickly evolved to claim a market space of their own, as Robertson confirms. “The market has changed again; the Sport Yacht is a new niche,” he says. “Now everybody wants that variant of the flybridge on the Predator. Clients are really enjoying it because they’re getting the best of both worlds.” The 74 Sport Yacht shares the Predator 74’s pounce with the spaces you need to enjoy the chase in good company. It’s likely to be many 21st-century owners’ natural selection.

When Numarine announced the 22XP, the latest, 74-foot iteration of its XP expedition line, there was a twist. The 22XP would come in two different forms: identical above the waterline, but totally different underneath. One version would be a slow-moving, full-displacement vessel with a full keel and wave-piercing bulb, while the other would be a semi-displacement cruiser with speed rails. The slower version would come with twin 425 hp Cummins engines and a 12-knot, or 14.5 mph, top speed, while faster version would have 1,200 hp MANs, while moving at a faster clip of 21 knots, or 24 mph.

So crazy, in fact, it could just start a trend.

“We had clients who loved the boat when they saw drawings of it—especially the amount of volume it offered,” Numarine CEO Omer Malaz told me onboard the 22XP last week as it sliced through the steely waters of Istanbul’s Bosporus Strait. “But not everyone wants to go 12 knots. So, what was I to do?” He pauses for effect: “I made a fast version of course.”

Most boat builders typically work the other way around. They build a hull and design several different topsides for it. This is the first time that we’re aware of, where a yacht builder designed two entirely different hulls for the same interior and superstructure. It’s not a bad idea since the explorer cruiser market has exploded, but has gone in two directions: Some builders make slow, long-distance cruisers while others go for faster semi-displacement yachts. Never the twain shall meet. Until now.

The faster iteration of the 22XP has speed numbers much more in line with a typical large express cruiser. Beyond the 24-mph top speed, the boat cruises at a sprightly 21 mph.

Regardless of the bottom, the visible portion of the 22XP certainly looks the part of the explorer. With imposing bulwarks, an inverted, raked-back windshield, and a superstructure that spans the bulk of her 74’2” length—providing loads of interior space on the main deck—the vessel has the bones of a boat ready to go exploring in the fjords of Norway of down to Tierra del Fuego.

However, this burly outline is delicately offset by some sharp design choices made by the boat’s exterior designer, Can Yalman, a longtime Numarine collaborator. In particular, the angular hull windows forward help to minimize the boat’s apparent bulk, while a gracefully curved flybridge reaches way back, lending a certain softness to the upper part of the superstructure.

The full-keel version of the boat that I was aboard performs like a typical explorer as well, with a design emphasis not just on volume and comfort, but of course on performance and range.

It should come as no surprise that this yacht has legs. At an 8-knot cruise she can travel 2,000 nautical miles—enough to make it from New York City to Curacao on one tank of fuel. And though the Bosporus was characteristically calm when I was there, the 22XP felt solid as we pushed through the sizable wakes of the many passing tankers and cargo ships that frequent this important passage. It’s a characteristic attributable to the boat’s construction method. The hull is hand-laid with vinylester resin because the builder feels the hand-laying process lends boats more punch over the more weight-savings-conscious resin-infusion process many other builders favor.

This model’s layout was of particular import to Numarine during the design process, as onboard comfort was a necessity. On the accommodations level, there’s a full-beam, en suite amidships master, though it also has a massive forepeak VIP that benefits from a beam that carries well forward, and which is also well lit, thanks to the big hull side windows. I’d imagine some owners would be tempted to claim this space as their own.

But Malaz is not one of them. “I’d stay in the amidships master because it’s a bit bigger, and also quieter under way,” he says. The rest of the lower level is fleshed out with two additional cabins, including a guest to starboard with an athwartships queen-sized berth.”

The Numarine founder has long been a speed demon on the water—including years of racing—so this seems like a pivotal moment. “I just want a small engine and a big boat, with lots of volume,” Malaz says. “Sound attenuation has become important to me. I want the boat to be quiet—to the point where I can hear people around me.” Then he pauses. “At least quieter than my 94-mph tender.”

"Kamelot" (ex "Garbo" & once owned by the late Greta Garbo) originally left the Burger factory in Manitowoc, Wisconsin as a 67 foot flush deck motor yacht. In 1989 her owner’s had her extended with the addition of a cockpit at the Derektor yard in Florida to a length of 74 feet, 6 inches. Throughout her years, "Kamelot" received many upgrades, improvements, and refits. Her timeless profile and classic beauty would make any owner proud in any port of call.

This yacht presents the perfect opportunity to bring this historic Burger back to her former glory, with many of her original details and features still remaining.

Entering the aftdeck/salon from the cockpit one finds an expansive and bright living area with all creature comforts to include air conditioning, wetbar, refrigeration and ice maker, flatscreen television, leather settee and lounge, teak parquet flooring, and fully enclosed with glass for excellent ambient lighting. Teak wing doors provide access to the side decks both port and starboard. Port and starboard teak pilothouse doors with integrated bi-folding screen doors offer additional access to the side decks from the pilothouse which is located just forward of the salon/aftdeck. Access to the flybridge is offered from the port side of the pilothouse via a teak ladder. Continuing forward from the pilothouse and down three steps, the lower salon affords additional entertaining/lounging area for owners and guests. Along the aft bulkhead in the lower salon houses a custom chest of drawers and additional entertainment/AV accessories. Moving forward and to port of the lower salon, the galley is expansive and includes all the modern appliances and conveniences of home. All appliances are full sized and the area is large enough to prepare gourmet meals for owners and guests. Continuing forward from the galley the crew/guest area includes a crew/guest stateroom, a small dinette, and utility area, head and shower, as well as access to the utility and engine room.

The main living quarters are accessed from the companionway at the aft bulkhead of the lower salon. The guest stateroom is located amidships to port and includes twin berths. Adjacent to the guest stateroom is the guest head which serves as the day head for entertaining. Continuing aft the full beam master stateroom is enormous and includes storage ample enough for extended cruising and liveaboard usage. Total accommodations include three staterooms and three heads which sleeps six comfortably with additional accommodation available via the settees in the lower and main salon.

74-metre Amels 242 Launched

Launch season is officially under way at Damen Yachting. The latest Amels 242 has emerged from the drydock in the Netherlands. A milestone which marks the start of her final build phase ahead of her delivery in a few months’ time.  

Seventh in successful 242 line   

This 74-metre (242 ft) Amels is the seventh yacht to be launched from this successful Limited Editions design which features the signature exterior lines of Tim Heywood. The Owner has been represented throughout the build by Imperial. 

Featuring unique customizations and equipped with the latest IMO Tier III package  

Featuring custom interiors by Winch Design, Amels 24207 is a wonderful example of the Amels Limited Editions concept. Amidst a market where fast delivery times and build slots are becoming more challenging to come by, she will be delivered ahead of the summer season and within 18 months of her Owner stepping into the project whilst still featuring a number of unique customisations.

With a Gross Tonnage of 1,790, Amels 24207 accommodates 12 guests and 19 crew. She features a dedicated Owners Deck with foredeck jacuzzi and an increased capacity helicopter deck. The yacht is equipped with the latest IMO Tier III clean emissions power and propulsion package.
