My wife and I are very disappointed in a yacht we recently bought from Yachtsalesinternational. First, the yacht was delivered in San Francisco (where we live) from Florida two weeks late, forcing us to rent another yacht for my wife's birthday party. Throughout out experience, our broker kept on giving empty promises. We now have the yacht at our new berth and an inspection report fromour expert has shown a lot of malfunctions on top of what I can visually observe. According to photos sent by the Yachtsalesinternational, the yacht has no mechanical problems, yet there is an ignition switch failure, a propeller that looks like it hit a rock, and a vibrating engine. These blemishes were never covered in the description and the boat was described as "mint."What I am disappointed mostin is the torn leather all over the furniture, which was again not captured in the photos. Yachtsalesinternational, through a phone call, says this isminor damage, but it means a lot to me. I am also disappointed by the damaged hull on the left side and the fact that our broker never brought it to my attention. Sadly, I have now paid for the boat and ownership changed to my name. All I can do is do endless followups with Yachtsalesinternational to get all of these issues amended at their cost.

I just read Micheal V's review, and I believe it 100%. My wife and I had a similar experience from Yachtsalesinternational in that they made empty promises. To make things worse, we were about to lose our financing since we didn't close on a boat that was not ready and was still on blocks the day after we lost our loan. We tried to work something out with them, but their attorney demanded and additional deposit of over $100,000 and they already had $100,000 plus. They say they were ready to close. I'm sure they were. They just didn't have a boat to deliver. They have not and will not return any of our deposit. As of now, we our out over $100,000. However, we are perusing legal action. There are a lot more details, but that sums it up. The picture posted is the boat on blocks with no propellers because the bearings were not available make the boat boat unseaworthy. I'm am happy to show anyone interesting in purchasing from YSI our email and text interaction. You can make your own judgement. There are so many boat brokers and boats. Personally, I would move on.

Dirk brings over 25 years of yacht sales and on the water experience. His first boating memories were at a young age with his family. He spent his early boating years on a 16 footer on Lake Wallenpaupack in Northeastern Pennsylvania. After high school, Dirk joined the US Coast Guard, working as a Boatswains Mate at small boat stations in Tawas MI, St. Ignace MI, Charleston SC and on a River Tender in Pittsburgh PA during his time in the Coast Guard Reserve. After earning degrees in Marketing and German for International Trade from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), he worked with various yacht manufacturers including Sea Ray and Bertram and managed US sales efforts for international manufacturers Vicem and Bavaria. He has sold yachts on every continent with the exception of Antarctica… still a goal. He also earned his MBA from the University of Tennessee and currently holds a 100 Ton Master Captain License. 

Carter Anderson

Carter's passion for boating began in his birth state of Colorado. His family spent their summers in the Rocky Mountains at Lake Dillon on a small ski boat. At the of age 10, he moved to Florida, and was fortunate to be raised on the water in Tampa Bay. Operating boats at a young age instilled his love for the lifestyle, but Carter knows that enjoying the boat is only part of ownership. He was taught to meticulously tend to his father’s boats like they were his own. Therefore, with 25 years of experience, Carter also carries the knowledge and respect of what it takes to properly maintain a boat. After earning his degree from Florida State University in 2010, he moved to south Florida, and settled in Jupiter. With over 10 years of sales experience, he became a licensed yacht broker in 2021.

Home buyers and sellers to be spared standard broker commissions under $418 million settlement

The National Association of Realtors has agreed to a landmark settlement that would eliminate real estate brokers' long-standing commissions, commonly of up to 6% of the purchase price.

Instead, home buyers and sellers would be able to negotiate fees with their agents upfront. If the $418 million legal agreement is approved by a federal court, consumer advocates predict the ranks of real estate agents will thin, further driving down commission prices.

"For years, anti-competitive rules in the real estate industry have financially harmed millions," said Benjamin Brown, managing partner at the Cohen Milstein law firm and one of the settlement's negotiators. "This settlement bring sweeping reforms that will help countless American families."

The NAR acknowledged the pending settlement in a statement Friday and denied any wrongdoing.

"NAR has worked hard for years to resolve this litigation in a manner that benefits our members and American consumers," said Nykia Wright, interim CEO of NAR, whose previous chief stepped down late last year amid fallout from a federal lawsuit.

"It has always been our goal to preserve consumer choice and protect our members to the greatest extent possible. This settlement achieves both of those goals," Wright said in the statement.

Currently, a home seller is essentially locked into paying a brokerage fee for listing their property on a multiple listing service, or MLS — usually 5% or 6% depending on their geographic area. Upon selling, half of the fee goes to a listing agent representing the seller, while the buyer's agent gets the other half.

The practice — which has become standard in the real estate industry in recent decades — led to accusations that some buyers' agents were steering prospects toward more expensive homes. In October, a federal jury found the NAR and some major brokerages liable for colluding to inflate commission fees, ordering the trade group to pay a historic $1.78 billion in damages .

"It's a bribe," Doug Miller, an attorney and longtime consumer advocate in the real estate industry, said of the commission-splitting arrangements. "You're paying someone to negotiate against you. There's no good reason for sellers to pay buyer-brokers."

If the settlement is approved, brokerage commissions would be stripped from MLS sites and opened up to negotiation with sellers, among a series of other changes. Homebuyers, too, would be able to negotiate fees more easily if they choose to sign up with a broker — though experts say the new arrangement may incentivize more buyers to forgo brokers entirely.

The new brokerage-fee changes would begin to take effect within months of the settlement's approval. A preliminary hearing to approve the deal is slated to take place in the coming weeks.

Nordstrom shares closed 9% higher on Tuesday following a report that the department store chain is attempting to go private.

The retailer's founding family is working with Morgan Stanley and investment bank Centerview Partners to determine if private equity firms have interest in a deal, Reuters reported , citing people familiar with the matter. Morgan Stanley declined to comment.

A deal might not happen, according to Reuters. A previous effort to take Nordstrom private fizzled out in 2018.

Nordstrom has struggled to drive sales in a competitive retail landscape where consumers squeezed by inflation have been watching their spending on apparel and other discretionary goods. Earlier this month, the company gave a gloomy sales outlook for 2024.

Nordstrom said it expects full-year revenue to range from a 2% decline to a 1% increase from 2023.

Before Tuesday's move, the company's shares had fallen about 7% this year.
