There are many benefits of membership at the Royal Anglesey Yacht  club, not least of which is our idyllic location, overlooking the mountains of Snowdonia and the Menai strait in the historic town on Beaumaris.

For £3.40 a week, our members enjoy:

• A family-friendly club providing sailing and rowing in one of the best locations anywhere.
• Free membership for children who’s parents are members.
• A large dingy compound for boat storage and a club boat shed with boat storage at a reasonable cost.
• Access to the clubhouse, with changing facilities, showers, galley and licensed bar.
• Entry in our organised racing series.
• A professional bosun to ensure that we are safe on the challenging Menai strait.
• Three safety boats.
• Full insurance for racing.
• RYA Affiliated.
• Subsidised RYA Powerboat training courses.
• Full rowing section – providing celtic rowing year round (rowing requires a small extra cost to cover insurance)
• Youth training sessions in Sailing and Rowing – a very active and popular section of the club.
• Regular social events at which members meet and socialise.
• Club racing on Wednesday evenings, Saturdays and some Sundays between May and October.
• Informal sailing days and taster sessions for novice sailors and rowers.
• Subsidised rental of our function rooms boasting amazing views of the mountains and Menai Strait.

• A well run club, operated by a large volunteer base.
• Being part of a long and distinguished history of Sailing and Rowing in Beaumaris.  The club was founded in 1885.
• Our racing is based on enjoyable club competition.
• We are at the centre of the superb annual 2 week Menai strait regatta.
• A great team of volunteers who work hard to offer a good social programme for both sailors and non-sailors and their families to enjoy throughout the year.

2023 Membership Fees.

• Full member Aged 30 -59:  £180.00
• Aged 60 and over:  £120.00
• Aged 25 – 29: £110.00
• Aged 18 – 24: £55.00
• Overseas: £100.00
• Cadets aged under 18 or 21 in full time education:  £30.00
• Cadets with parents who are members: free.

New Members

Thank you for your interest in the Black Rock Yacht Club. The first step is to come down to visit and have a look at our great facility. Guests are more than welcome to enjoy the club bar and bistro (be sure to sign in though) for up to 3 visits, before you will be asked to join as a member. 

If you would like to join our club, please complete a Membership Application form.  Membership Application forms can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of this page, or you can contact the club and ask for a Membership Application form to be emailed to you. Membership at BRYC is subject to Commiittee approval.  

Please note, membership is due for renewal 1st July each year.

Learn to Sail

Learn to sail programs at beaumaris yacht club.

Beaumaris Yacht Club provides a number of comprehensive training courses. The Club is a Yachting Australia approved “Discover Sailing Centre”.

The courses are conducted as per the Yachting Australia “Discover Sailing” syllabus, by qualified instructors. Club boats are provided, Pacers for seniors and Optimists and Minnows for juniors.

Rescue boats are always on the water with the training fleet, and an observer is always present in the Club tower to monitor the training. Buoyancy jackets are provided by the club.

The club usually hosts two Discover Sailing days in a season, where visitors to the club get the opportunity to go for a sail with club members and experience the joy of sailing firsthand. For information about the next Discover Sailing Day check our Club Calendar.

Looking to join Beaumaris Life Saving Club? We love new members. Our club is a small, friendly family focused community. Providing a safe and nurturing environment to learn essential water skills, make new friends and have fun.

NEW MEMBERS

23/24 season membership.

Lifesaving clubs are not just about Nippers! Anyone 16 years and older can become a member in their own right and take advantage of all that the club has to offer including Bronze Medallion and Surf Rescue certificate, first aid, Inflatable Rescue Boat training courses etc. Alternatively families can join as a group. All members 18 years+ require a working with children check.

How Do I Join?

There are three steps to be completed for joining: 1. Apply for and have received a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) prior to application 2. Online registration and Payment of membership fees for all family members via the online portal SurfGuard via Surf Life Saving Australia; and  3. Join BeaumarisLSC on TeamApp.

Step 1 – Apply for a Working with Children Check

• All members 18 years and over must hold a Working With Children Check (Surf Life Saving Australia requirement). This can be done online or via Australia Post.
• Please ensure BLSC is included on your application. If you already hold a WWCC please have your current card linked to include BLSC.
• Your are applying for a Volunteer WWCC – www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au

• Once you have obtained the WWCC please send a copy of your card to [email protected]

Step 2 – Joining BLSC needs to be completed via the online portal via Surf Life Saving Australia

• Please register all family members joining the club. For your nipper their profile will hold any awards they may complete (eg: Surf Rescue Certificate, Bronze Medallion or competition awards)
• Once submitted you will be given the option to make an Online Payment NOTE: you can pay for the whole family in one payment. The payment will be recorded against the primary member who was logged into the Members Area.
• Your membership will be approved upon receipt of the membership fees and receipt of your Working with Children Check.

Is there a waiting list for bmys membership.

At present, membership vacancies exist for the Boating membership, whilst a waiting list is has been created for the Social membership categories.

If I sign up now, when will I be able to join the Club?

Our goal is to induct new members as a group to ensure people are connected with other members during their orientation process.

How can I apply to become a BMYS member now?

Joining the BMYS is a simple process which starts by completing a Membership nomination form, the details of which can be found on this page.

Once completed you’ll be added to the list for induction. Submitting your form will prompt our administration team to follow up with you directly to arrange payment of your application fee.

Can I make split payments for the annual subscription?

Boating Members are able to split the annual subscription into monthly direct debit, or direct credit methods.

The option is available to select when making the application, to indicate if payments by monthly instalment would better suit your needs.  The arrangement would be for an initial $200 payment to cover the Food & Beverage credit (loaded directly onto your key for immediate access).  Each month thereafter would be a one 11th portion of the annual subscription until renewal time again on March 1st.

Full members are able to make use of all sailing and non-sailing facilities and participate in an extensive racing, cruising and social program. Includes access to the members clubhouse including our dining and bar services, marina, carpark, off the beach boat storage, locker hire, club sailboards and SUPs and a range of discounts and additional benefits.

Junior Membership.

For 8-17 year olds participating in learn to sail programs, training and racing. Junior members can participate in a wide range of sailing, racing and social programs and have access to the clubhouse facilities, locker hire and off the beach storage if they are participating in Junior or Youth Sail Training.

Marina access*

Crew Membership.

An Introductory membership designed for those new to racing who undertake to become a regular crew. Make use of a range of sailing and non-sailing facilities and participate in the racing, cruising and social program with access to a range of discounts and benefits. Available to new members for up to three years.

Sail Pass Temporary Membership.

A SailPass gives you membership for the day and your own Australian Sailing number. You can access the clubhouse facilities and participate in racing with personal accident insurance provided by Australian Sailing. You can purchase a Sail Pass up to 12 times, after which we hope that you join our club and continue to race. We’ll deduct the cost of your Sail Pass from your membership fees if you then go on to join.

BYS SOCIAL MEMBERSHIPS

• Social Membership (non sailing)

Social Membership (non sailing).

Social members are able to make use of all the member clubhouse facilities including our dining, bar, bbqs and change rooms and participate in our active social program. Social members can race up to 4 times each season, can sign in guests each visit, and have access to discounts and a range of additional benefits.

Social Memberships are individual memberships. 

We are currently not taking any applications or expressions of interest for this category as we have a lengthy waiting list and wait time.  Please speak with our Membership Officer for more information.

How do I apply to become a member of BYS?

That’s easy – we can guide you to work out what’s the right membership category for you through completing the Expression of Interest Form, or call our Member Services and Engagement Officer, Kate Poole, who can assist you with your questions.  She’d love to hear from you, just call on 5925 9600 or click here to email.

The membership process follows the pathway as set out below:

• Complete and return your membership application in full, including completed sections from both your proposer and seconder.  Incomplete applications forms can not be accepted. 
• Applicants are invited to meet with the representatives of the Membership Committee. At this meeting applicants will learn about the Clubs programs, facilities and the benefits and expectations of being a member.    
• Applicants are advised to the members for a period of 14 days. 
• Applications are presented to the Executive Committee for approval. 
• An offer of membership will be made to the applicant. 
• Applicants are then to attend a new member welcome and induction.

I don’t have a Proposer or Seconder for my application?

While many people join the Club after being recommended by a current full member of one or more years, we understand that not everyone will know someone at the Club.   If this is the case, we ask that you contact our membership team prior to completing your application form. 

How much does it cost to become a member?

The cost varies depending on the category of membership you apply for.  Note there is a one off Entrance Fee payable for all new members, together with an ongoing annual fee. All fees are only provided with an application form. 

When does the membership year run from/to?

The membership year commences on 1 May each year and goes through to 30 April.  Note that yearly subscription renewal invoices are sent out on, 1 May each year.  You can join BYS as a new member at any stage of the year, however, the annual fees will still be billed for the full yearly period if you join between May – January, if joining after 1 February – 30 April annual fees will be pro-rated.

Member Leave of Absence:   any Member wishing to apply for LOA should make an application to the Membership Committee in the first instance setting out the grounds for the application.  If the application is considered an appropriate one for approval, it can be submitted to the EC for approval.

THE MAIN HOTEL ARTHURS SPA LIES IN A BEAUTIFUL PLACE AND HAS GREAT FACILITIES BUT ARTHURS VILLAGE IS A POOR VERSION OF THE SAME WITH DIRTY CARPETS, DIRTY SHOWERS, HORRIBLE BEDS AND OLD FASHIONED FURTNITURES IN THE ROOM. ITS A 10MIN WALK TROUGH SNOW WITH MINUS 24 DEGREES AND 4 KIDS TO THE MAIN HOTEL WHERE ALL THE FUN STUFF LIKE THE SKATING RING, POOL AND BOWLING WAS AND THE EVENING ENTERTAINMENT-WITH 2 SUITCASES TO BRING ALL THE KIDS' GEAR LIKE SWIMMING GEAR, SKATES ETC AND THEN AT NIGHT AT 22 PM BACK FOR 15 MIN TROUGH A -24 DEGREES COLD WITH NO TRANSPORT BETWEEN THE HOTELS. REALLY UNCOMFY FOOD IS GOOD AND PERSONNEL IS FRIENDLY

In general very good experience. Spa & wellness facilities are excellent. All needed things for kids 0, 3 and 9 years old were provided by request. The only thing - access to building 6 is hard with the baby stroller cradle.

An overpriced stay. Electricity issues (we had no power in the midnight, then we had issues with A/C and Wi-Fi because of that. They couldn’t fix it. Poor communication by e-mail. I asked to switch on A/Cs in both rooms beforehand but no one paid attention to my request. The pre-promised late check out turned out to be impossible too… But fine, we wanted to leave asap because of not working A/C in the living room. Green area. Poor facilities. Poor animation. Green water pool in SPA (no visibility, river smell). Regarding the cleaning. We found 2 socks in the living room right under the heater. Come on! Nice food. Open air cinema. Overall, it doesn’t look as it costs. Is it Accor?

I would like more master classes for children (take for example how it is organized in the AREAL hotel near Balashikha). Animation for preschool children frankly sags. The food is simply amazing, the best food in the world! I love you for it. No five stars compare. And it would be possible to organize a shuttle between the spa and the village. All the same, hotel workers go back and forth on business matters. It would be possible to organize the delivery this way.
