I like to visit Bucklers Hard with my young family and every time we drop into the Yachtsman for a drink and a snack. It's a wonderful pub with cozy interiors, large open fires at this time of year and plenty of comfortable seating for... families and dogs too! They serve a good range of local and international beers and spirits and have a reasonable wine list too. It can get busy at weekends so service can be a little slow at times but it's only a small bar. The attached restaurant and hotel look lovely but we've not used them yet. More

Visited with my family for lunch and the garden is lovely, but it stops there. Service was slow and confused, bringing wrong drinks and then falling to being further drinks ordered. The food was a bit "bleh" to be honest. It took an age to... arrive, the open sandwiches were a bit skimpy - 4 prawns in one and a smattering of blue cheese in another. Definitely not worth the infated bill we received. More

Visited here midweek in January. It is clearly getting back on its feet after restrictive lockdowns etc. The bar is open from 12 - 4 with a good small selection of comfort food for Bucklers Hard visitors, walkers and cyclists. (The cafe is currently closed)... We had a coffee by a log fire with fine views of the river then a tasty carrot soup for lunch. Pleasant staff and vibe More

It’s a number of years since we last visited and we were very impressed to see the bar has been completely refurbished with soft seats and cushions. 2 of us had the fish and chips, one the burger and myself the pie of the day... which was pork and apple. We were all impressed with the food and my pie with gravy, mashed potato and crinkle green cabbage was absolutely delicious. Andre gave us excellent service and with the Gourmet society discount the meal came to £74.25 with a glass of wine each. A very pleasant Tuesday lunch with a bottle of chilled water placed on the table too. More

After a walk from Beaulieu we were hoping for a light lunch/bar snack with a draft beer and glass of wine which we had enjoyed on a previous visit. No food served in the bar - we were directed to the restaurant or walk up... to the cafe. Other walkers were disappointed to find this odd state of affairs. After a beer and wine I returned the empty glasses to the bar and despite the barman watching what I did there was no acknowledgement or “thank you”. The same barman was 17 minutes late opening the bar. Such a shame how this place has lost its focus on customers trying to support it. More

Excited to visit the Yachtsmans bar having treated ourselves a stay in the new Beaulieu Marina we were extremely disappointed to find it closed. The Master Builders House Hotel was only open to residents after 5 pm. For visiting yachtsmen a very disappointing experience. The... Marinas guide book has an advert for the hotel saying the Yachtsmans bar will go back to being a traditional pub serving drinks to thirsty sailors in 2021. As of 9 June 2021 it has not happened. More

Very poor service today - stopped for lunch, got passed from bar to restaurant back to bar as no one knew what was going on and what food you could order from what area. We left without eating due to the poor service. The manager... responded very poorly and lost four customers due to unhelpful attitude. Your offer on the day should match what you say you do on your website and please train your staff so they know what is going on and where. Sadly I don’t think we’ll ever return. More

Refused to have a drink, despite sitting outside and wearing a face mask. Absolutely ridiculous. We moored our boat up at the river entrance and took the dinghy up the river only to be refused twice. They said 'residents only' unless we buy lunch, which... we couldn't afford to do. There are no other pubs in the vicinity so all plans ruined. Came home early as really disappointed. More

We have visited the sailors bar several times recently. The service has always been poor, except when Matthew was on duty. Often there is no real ale on tap. When you ask for an elderflower presse the barman has to go to another remote bar... to get one, delaying other customers. This has happened at least four times. For some reason they cannot run a tab, which, combined with no real ale, meant they lost the custom of six thirsty sailors who moved on to the Turfcutters. One barman has been heard to announce proudly to a couple of sailors that the bar is not serving food this evening and no chance of a meal in the restaurant without a booking. This is such a continuing problem in a bar that should be making good profits that I thought I would mention it. Fortunately in the summer there are pop up bar and food stalls at the weekend on the marina quay which are run with customers in mind, unlike this bar. More

On a chilly morning, after an interesting walk around Bucklers Hard, thought we would stop for a warming cup of coffee. The Captains Table looked quite welcoming with comfy sofa and chairs. How disappointed we were. The coffees were tasteless and cold and the Belgian... buns stale. Yes it was Monday and they may have had a busy weekend, but. Wouldn’t recommend sadly but they probably don’t get too much returning trade being a tourist attraction. More

Sailed to Bucklers Hard believing the web site that said you couldn't reserve a table in the Yachtsman's Bar only to be told that no food was available that evening . Spoke to the manager who was unhelpful and said he wasn't in control of... the web site (?) or knew what it said, and that the restaurant bookings had been transferred to the Bar. With no car or public transport, we had to walk 2.5 miles to the Montague Alms, where they were very accommodating, and 2.5 mile back in the dark. Lesson - avoid places like the Master Builders where the manger has no interest in offering a service More

We turned up at lunchtime 26 of us we just wanted to sit outside, the garden was empty and they turned us away!! Said no food or drink. Such a shame we would have spent a fortune! The woman dark haired was terribly rude and... hostile! I felt that they were too lazy to accommodate us, as we called through later as there seperate family’s and we were booked in! Of course by this point we were not interested and took our money else where. Don’t use this place if you can help it! Shame as I have been for a few bbqs here and always been outstanding! More

Last October I wrote a review detailing the poor service experience we had at the Master Builders. We returned yesterday following a restaurant refurbishment and there was a marked improvement all round. The food and service were very good; ŵe look forward to returning.

Used to be s friendly place, but no longer. You can’t get anything to eat any more without going to the hotel restaurant. You can’t use the huge garden without going to the restaurant and now half the bar is out of bounds (it was... empty) as it’s just for residents only. Now one of the reasons of visiting Bucklers Hard by boat or car is gone. Total misunderstanding of the needs of visitors and yachtsmen visiting the marina. In the past it was brilliant, sadly now a place to avoid if you want an informal drink and bite to eat at the bar. Prepare yourselves to a cold reception and to go hungry. More

Been here numerous times over many years both by boat as well as driving. Today though dreadful service which means unfortunately its lost all its previous atmosphere. Worse they had run out of most of the Sunday menu. The staff then weren’t even interested when... I said I wouldn’t ever return. Great shame. More

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Yachtsman’s Bar (The Master Builder's)

Although part of the Master Builder's hotel, the Yachtsman's Bar is very much a pub with its low ceilings and traditional furniture and decor. Housed at the river end of the western range of the parallel rows of very picturesque terraced houses that were only completed part of the planned 18th-century Montagu Town. The wooden tables out on the extensive grass lawns provide a splendid view over the Beaulieu River and the former shipbuilding slipways. Doom Bar, Romsey Gold (£4.20) and Forty Niner available from the three handpumps on the counter. NB - It can be freely accessed by public footpath as well the hotel's separate driveway, but the museum (including several of the historic cottages) offers an interesting visit if you have the time but you will then need to pay for admission.

A lovely location, you may have to pay to gain access to Bucklers Hard, but if at function, wedding etc then should be fine as they have access, check before you make a trip. My visit was a a Saturday lunchtime / afternoon late October 2013 Possibly more foodie than pub, but does have hand pulls, Ringwood brewery, being the local brewer is featured of course, and was fine It did seem very popular, especially with dog walkers and the "country set" with plus fours & boots It is a bit sprawling, lots of separate rooms, some for food, some just tables for whatever The food is mainly local, but it is not cheap, take a stuffed wallet Parking is free, but is walk to pub, and gravel paths, and on slope down to the river, so wheel chairs or unsteady on your pins may not suit you It was very busy, queue at bar at times, service was polite & efficient but with people ordering food it was understandably slow, bit like Weatherspoon's without the benefit of low priced beer Not one to head for, but nice to know it is there

Part of hotel, but open to general public, not really sure if it qualifies on PUG because one has to pay entrance fee for Bucklers Hard, but like an airport bar, nice to know it is there. IF staying at hotel, wedding reception etc, then would also help to know it is there I will not review or add picture until sure it is OK for PUG, results were fine BTW

VIDEO: Security guard fatally shot trying to keep drunk patron out of New Orleans bar

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A 53-year-old security guard was fatally shot late Sunday night (April 7) while trying to keep an allegedly drunk patron out of a Mid-City bar.

The New Orleans Police Department says the shooting happened around 11:11 p.m. at the Wit’s End bar in the 100 block of North Carrollton Avenue.

Wit’s Inn management says the bar’s security guard, Darriel King, stopped the suspected shooter from entering under suspicion he had too much to drink. An argument ensued, managers said, before the man pulled a gun and fatally shot King.

“The gun went off -- Pop! Shot him straight in the chest,” said the bar’s general manager, Wellington Beaulieu III. “Darriel dove at him and jumped on top of him ... stumbled for a little while. Darriel just stopped moving and the guy popped up, looked around, jumped over the barricade, crossed the street back toward the Red Door where his friends, his socials, were.

“And all we heard them saying was, ‘We gotta leave, we gotta leave.’”

Cellphone video obtained by Fox 8 shows a fight or argument taking place in a nearby parking lot before one loud pop is heard and people flee from the bar in all directions.

“No way in the world nobody was going to get in there with a gun,” Beaulieu told Fox 8. “He did not want to get searched. That’s how we knew something was wrong.”

The suspect reportedly fled in a vehicle before police arrived, according to the bar’s management.

“In my view, it’s not just one thing that has happened,” New Orleans councilman Joe Giarrusso said. “It’s been an accumulation of all these things.”

Neighbors have complained about the crowds, trash and debauchery taking place around the Carrollton Avenue bars since last fall.

Giarrusso says he asked the city attorney to build a case for a liquor license hearing with the Alcohol Beverage Outlet.

“The city got back in touch with us last month and said that they didn’t think there was enough evidence to support that,” Giarrusso said. “I realize there may not be enough direct evidence, per se. But there is heavy circumstantial evidence here.”

But the bar manager says he hasn’t broken the rules.

“I do feel that we are being picked with for no reason,” Beaulieu said. “Matter of fact, anytime they came to do an inspection, when the city came through, we got no citations.”

A city spokesperson tells Fox 8 the law department is waiting for more information from the NOPD about Sunday night’s shooting. Police say there is nothing new to share.

But a municipal code could be applied while the investigation continues.

“There is the nuisance ordinance that we passed, maybe a year or so ago, that requires three major acts to close a business down,” Giarrusso said. “We’re at No. 2 right now. I don’t know at this point that I want to wait for that third one, because you’re not supposed to be able to do those other things.’

Giarrusso and fellow city council members, called on the NOPD to increase enforcement and on Chief Anne Kirkpatrick to use that ‘Padlock’ nuisance ordinance to review bar operations in the area.

Σαλάτα ήταν κακή, λίγα φύλλα σαλάτες, 2 αντζούγιες, δεν είχε μπέικον και τεράστιο κατ' αποκοπήν πάλε άγευστο κρύο κοτόπουλο στον κάδο με κάποια dressing χύνονται στο πάνω μέρος, ακριβό για αυτό που παίρνεις. Love this rug, the colors match everything and brightens the area in my RV.

Love the rug. I also bought a rug pad for extra cushioning - glad I did cuz it’s a thin rug. Love the colors - they were bright but not overwhelmingly loud.

Love this rug! Perfect for our modern living area. Love the pop of color. Very soft and a little thin, so I would recommend a padded nonslip rug pad.

I bought two of these rugs to put on either side of the bed in one of our guest bedrooms. They are low profile but well made. They vacuum well and have a lot of beautiful color in them. They add a pop of color in a room with light gray walls, dark gray comforter and terracotta accent color. They also feel nice under foot when getting out of bed.
