Corinthia to open Yacht Club, hotel and residences in Doha, Qatar

Corinthia will be working in partnership with UDC, United Development Company and their flagship project on The Pearl, Qatar . The Corinthia Yacht Club, will be the first of three Corinthia branded luxury developments opening over the next 3 Years. The Yacht Club is opening in September 2022 coinciding with the historic commencement of FIFA 2022 in Qatar.

The Corinthia Gewan Island Hotel will open in 2024 and Corinthia Residences will open in 2025. The Corinthia Yacht Club, through its architectural vision will be a highly recognized landmark on the Pearl, Qatar. It will balance architectural design, traditional local maritime themes with modernity, continuing Qatar’s reputation for excellence in modern architecture and ground-breaking luxury.

Corinthia Yacht Club, Doha

Within the Yacht club, on the first floor, a dedicated private membership club is being established. The first of its kind in Qatar. Exclusive membership will be on an invitation basis only and will allow member’s reciprocal rights across a portfolio of international private member’s yacht clubs.

Situated on the ground floor with views across Porto Arabia Marina , with full access available to members of the public, will be a new distinguished signature dining experience brought by Michelin star restaurant concept KAI of Mayfair, London . This will be the first restaurant developed by the KAI Management team outside of London providing Doha with a distinguished signature dining destination, continuing to elevate local guest and international traveller expectations.

Corinthia Yacht Club Set to Open its Doors on The Pearl Island, Qatar

Corinthia Yacht Club is pleased to announce its official opening in November 2022, at The Pearl Island. The new club offering will bring a refined membership experience and will set new standards for yachting in Doha, and further enhancing The Pearl Island’s position as a prestigious, international maritime destination. 

Corinthia Yacht Club was brought to Qatar in partnership with international hotel group, Corinthia Hotels, and local partners United Development Company (UDC), master developer of The Pearl and Gewan Islands. Corinthia’s reputation for combining intelligent, modern design with intuitive and warm service aligns with UDC’s strategy of forging meaningful relationships with partners who share a mutual vision to deliver a new standard of excellence in services and facilities at The Pearl Island. 

Commenting on the partnership, H.E. Mr. Turki bin Mohammed Al-Khater, UDC Chairman said: “Qatar has witnessed significant growth in tourism, and hospitality over the past few years. Driven by UDC’s vision to create a world leading maritime eco-system in Qatar, this partnership with Corinthia Hotels lays a solid foundation for our expansion plans through investments in vital sectors including maritime, tourism and hospitality”. 

For his part, Mr. Ibrahim Jassim Al-Othman, UDC’s President, Chief Executive Officer, and Member of The Board, expressed: “We are confident that inauguration of Corinthia Yacht Club, under the management of Corinthia Hotels, will deliver an exceptional high-end leisure experience and state-of-the-art facilities that will set a new benchmark in Doha. Corinthia Yacht Club will be a unique landmark as well as a prized addition to the distinctive facilities of The Pearl Island.”

Located in Porto Arabia, the new 24,000 square feet (2,232 square meters) club provides a full-service marina that offers world-class facilities for yacht owners. Facilities include a climate controlled outdoor terrace, a members’ lounge serving High Tea, private meeting rooms that offer comfort and discretion, a cigar lounge, a members-only Mediterranean restaurant, and a signature dining experience from London, KAI of Mayfair. Whilst club membership is by invitation only, the local community and visitors will enjoy access to Kai’s Songbird restaurant.

Corinthia Yacht Club’s striking exterior is inspired by the sails of Qatar’s traditional dhows, while the interior boasts modern design and comfort. 

The partnership between UDC and Corinthia Yacht Club involves the ‘Yacht Club de Monaco’, and Monaco Marina Management (M3).  Yacht Club de Monaco is synonymous with the ultimate maritime luxury lifestyle and is arguably the world’s capital of yachting. Its involvement with Corinthia Yacht Club, and its Mediterranean relationship with Qatar’s maritime traditions, demonstrates the level of service and quality of this development within the Middle East, offering luxury yacht owners all the practical facilities required delivered to the highest standard.

Located in Porto Arabia, the new 24,000-square-feet (2,232 square metres) club provides a full-service marina that offers world-class facilities for yacht owners. Facilities include a climate controlled outdoor terrace, a members’ lounge serving high tea, private meeting rooms that offer comfort and discretion, a cigar lounge, a members-only Mediterranean restaurant, and a signature dining experience from London, KAI of Mayfair. While club membership is by invitation only, the local community and visitors will enjoy access to Kai’s Songbird restaurant.

Corinthia Yacht Club’s striking exterior is inspired by the sails of Qatar’s traditional dhows, while the interior boasts modern design and comfort.

The partnership between UDC and Corinthia Yacht Club involves the ‘Yacht Club de Monaco’, and Monaco Marina Management (M3).Yacht Club de Monaco is synonymous with the ultimate maritime luxury lifestyle and is arguably the world’s capital of yachting. Its involvement with Corinthia Yacht Club, and its Mediterranean relationship with Qatar’s maritime traditions, demonstrates the level of service and quality of this development within the Middle East, offering luxury yacht owners all the practical facilities required delivered to the highest standard.

The partnership with Yacht Club de Monaco will also establish Corinthia Yacht Club as a ‘La Belle Classe Destination’, a designation awarded to world-class marinas that achieve Yacht Club de Monaco’s exceptional standards in quality of facilities, services and safety.

Corinthia Yacht Club will be the first of three Corinthia branded luxury developments opening over the next three years. Corinthia Gewan Island Hotel will open in 2024, in partnership with UDC, adjacent to The Pearl Island in Qatar, followed by Corinthia Residences which will open in 2025.

In the heart of the Pearl Island, Corinthia Yacht Club launches its first ever afternoon tea – available for both members and non-members— allowing guests to revel in luxurious surroundings whilst enjoying an exquisite, quintessentially British ritual. 

“Corinthia’s flagship hotel in London is famed for its afternoon tea service, and we are excited about launching this delightful ritual for guests to enjoy.  We are confident that our tea ceremony, which has been crafted to exacting standards, competes on a global scale in Qatar’s first and most exclusive Yacht Club.” Commented Matthew Dixon, Managing Director of Corinthia Doha.

Guests will experience a variety of elegant patisserie items created by a Michelin-trained Executive Pastry Chef, complimented by a sweeping selection of premium teas, served on exquisite 24 karat gold China. Savoury treats include classic finger sandwiches, on freshly baked breads, with fillings of Coronation Chicken; Roasted and Smoked Salmon with Dill, Crème Fraiche and Lemon; and Crab and Lobster with Tarragon Cream and Celery. Plain and fruited scones are served warm accompanied by Cornish clotted cream and seasonal jams.

The afternoon tea service includes a selection of sweet cakes using the finest seasonal ingredients, and exquisite flavour combinations, skilfully prepared by a dedicated team of pastry chefs. Pastries range from a Pistachio Éclair filled with White Chocolate Ganache; Praline and Milk Chocolate, Coconut Religieuse with Mango atop a Sablé Breton; Raspberry Tart topped with Vanilla Pastry Cream and fresh Raspberries; and the Classic Clubhouse Vanilla Cheesecake.

Corinthia Yacht Club has meticulously selected fine, and rare, loose-leaf teas to complement the food selection. Teas include Breakfast to Royal black tea; white tea from the sub-tropical Fujian mountains; Japanese Green Tea and matcha, Morocco mint leaves; herbal infusions from the flowers of France’s Maine-et Loire; and Rooibos from South Africa.

Tea is prepared and poured at guests’ table to their preferred strength, in French fine bone China handcrafted in Haviland. “Tea is a social occasion, and we have centred this quintessentially British ritual around our discerning guests’ and members’ enjoyment.  I am delighted to have introduced a more interactive service which encourages conversation and engagement.” commented Alexandru Avram, Club House Manager at Corinthia Yacht Club.

Members and non-members alike, can enjoy one of the city’s most exquisite afternoon tea services daily, from 14:00 till 18:00 at QAR350, based on two sharing. The tea ceremony is the perfect invitation for Qatar’s community to experience the Yacht Club’s exclusive offering, and renowned hospitality of the Corinthia brand.

Tiara Yachts is a U.S. builder that values adventure as a key piece of its DNA. I’ve done trips on board a number of their boats that were focused on fishing and diving. Those models were built for fun—small and sporty with a wind-in-your-hair vibe.

The next model down is the new EX54, which debuted at last month’s Miami show. With a length that is six feet smaller, this boat is just as creative with yacht-y accoutrements, along with attention to detail that cements Tiara’s next-generation ambitions. I had a chance to step aboard to see the similarities with the EX60.

The EX54’s’s cockpit will most likely lure many owners away from similar-sized competitors, thanks to its customizability. It comes in three setups that include a social version with two settees facing one another, an adventure configuration that loses the rear settee to make room for dive tanks and scuba gear, or a “glass-patio” design with modular ottomans.

The boat in Miami had the double settee which, coupled with mezzanine seating a few steps up and forward, gave this boat the feel of a larger motoryacht, in line with the trend of maximizing the exterior space that is currently in vogue in the superyacht world. The mezzanine seating featured a flip-down teak bar to port with a flip-up window with Australian undertones. I found it a bit odd that the bar was not adjacent to the amidships galley for easier service.

The EX54’s cabin featured two Tiara hallmarks: high-level woodwork and a focus on ergonomics. The teak across the main deck was richly grained, with snug joinery. Handholds were common as well, but discreetly embedded in structures like a dining table and a countertop so as not to dim the yacht’s aesthetic appeal.

Other nods to onboard comfort can be found down in the full-beam master amidships that is remarkably roomy for a boat this size, a trait that extended to the head where the shower had 6-feet, 8-inches of headroom and enough shoulder space for just about anyone, short of NBA stature, to fit comfortably.

The boat is powered by twin Volvo Penta IPS2 950s that is paired with a glass cockpit by Garmin. The joystick control gives the driver excellent slow-speed maneuverability and high-speed handling as well as low noise. In speed tests, the boat reached a top end of 38.7 mph, with a friendly cruise of 30.6 mph that delivered a 334-mile range.

In the end, what you’re getting is a yacht with Tiara’s trademark DNA for adventure and seaworthiness in a package that is decidedly more luxe. It’s a combination that that should be appealing, both to Tiara owners looking to move up, and to owners of foreign-built vessels that may soon come around to the rising tide of American build quality.
