Pool and Yacht Club

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

While in the St. Paul area recently for my son’s wedding, my wife, daughter and I took a boat ride on the Miss River. On the boat ride I noticed the Pool and Yacht Club on the bank of the river. It looked very inviting... so I called to see if they offered reciprocity to members of the yacht club to which we belong. I was told that they did not have a reciprocity agreement with other yacht clubs, but they did invite us to come as guests, since they are a “members only” club. The experience was delightful. We were eating at an odd hour so the kitchen was not fully “up”, but our server showed us what would be available on the menu. The food we were served was excellent, and the service was superb. We could not have been made to feel more welcome. It was a beautiful afternoon, so we chose to eat on their outside deck and enjoy the view of the Miss River. An afternoon very well spent. If I lived in the St. Paul area I would seriously consider membership in the Pool and Yacht Club. More

View of the river, very serious about their service, good food, nice decor appropriate for a view of the water and a sense of old world. Nice treat--go and enjoy.

You won't get better food nor finer service than at this Twin Cities classic restaurant perched right next to the lovely Mississippi River. Table-side views of the river valley abound through the many glass windows give you a view that looks the same as General... Pike would have seen back in 1804. The hostess is charming and welcoming. The Chef often visits you and his delicious creations right at your table. Service is friendly and the price is right. Check it out. You'll be back! More

We are members here, and consistently find the food to be disappointing. Pool menu is very limited. Mostly fried foods with a few other attempts at healthy fare (e.g., very bland "Asian lettuce wraps"). Food is very basic. Food at the restaurant is OK. Lots... of typical Midwestern, heavy food. Overpriced for the quality. Brunch buffet on the weekend is OK - lots of fresh fruit and made to order omelets. Bottom line - go for the pool (if you can brave the crowds and the less than clean environment) or the events, but not the food. More

Service is second to none. The food is excellent, we've been here several times for dinner and weekend brunch and have been very pleased with both. I would highly recommend. Excellent place to have a large celebration or meeting. The staff will attend to you... as if you are the only ones there. More

This is a private club but you can get a one day pass to evaluate. Poolside has full bar and grill with chair side service. Get there early though on weekends it will fill up. Lifeguards on duty, nice slide for the kids. Across the... street is the Lounge and Dinner Restaurant. There is a dock with room for 3 to 4 boats to tie up. Reservations highly recommended. Most tables have good view of river but towards back not so great. Super wait staff and chefs that do it right. Expect to pay a little more but not bad. Look for a $70 check for two. More

Great food, outstanding steak, I was invited there my some defense industry moguls and it was a great experience. Parking was a bit weird but once you got inside, the experience was wonderful.

Wonderful veranda (reserve early!) several stories above and often literally right over the Mississippi River (especially during high water times!). Bald eagles often seen soaring overhead, houseboats lazily putt putting up and down the river, occasional logs, kayaks and canoes floating by: Mark Twain would... be right at home. Even occasional Mississippi big Paddlewheel riverboats - no gamblers or people of ill repute (this is Minnesota in the 2000's, not the roaring 1800s). Location is unique because club is grandfather-claused to exist right on the river. Department of Natural Resources will absolutely not allow any more buildings this close (and will not allow club to expand). Boo! So this is the place: enjoy it before the bureaucrats find some reason to shut it down - but that's not likely to happen with all the politically connected people you might glimpse there. Food is another story. Sometimes incredible, sometimes so-so. Key here is that the kitchen staff will jump to make you happy. If you have the time, that is. All in all a nice place to eat either in the cool breezes of a summer evening or cozy inside in the middle of a bitter winter, watching the frozen river. Tip: For an extra-ordinary event, ask the club to host a get-together dinner or lunch for your group down on the beach patio. My extended family from East and West Coasts claim the summer afternoon dinner we had on the beach was probably the most magical they can remember. More

The staff treat you like your a guest in their home. The menu is extensive and the food always taste great. Best of all is the beautiful view of the Mississippi river. Its a very lovely spot for any occasion.

I've eaten here many times. The food is always exceptional. The ambience is cozy, perhaps a bit dated, but just they way members like it. This is a members only club, so join, or find someone you know who is a member. My favorite spot... here is on the veranda, overlooking the river on a sunny evening. The steaks snd seafood is great and the service first class. More

Excellent venue for a buffet and have the grandkids meet Santa! Everyone working there was friendly and over the top helpful. Couldn't have been better! Plus, it was the REAL Santa.... instead of an imposter! :-)

I've been a member at Pool & Yacht for over 3 years. I run all my St. Paul business appointments, charity functions and many personal nights out there. The remodel is beautiful!!! Summer on the veranda is the best location in the Cities on a... summer eve. Food and drinks are outstanding & affordable and the service is second to none. Pool side in the summer is also a great experience, especially for the kids. Unlike community pools this one is clean with qualified lifeguards. Order a drink, food and watch your kids play....soooo much fun!!! More

A great spot for our luncheon. This structure has been here for a very long time and they just keep going. Some renovation going on but still a great view, great service and delicious food. A pleasure to be there.

The pool and yacht club has been a fixture in Lilly dale for decades, but never taken the time to inquire about joining. A family member passed away and the luncheon afterwards was here. Very nice interior overlooking the river. We had a Cesar salad... with the pasta bar. Lots of choices plus meatballs, shrimp, chicken and scallops. All prepared while you watch. Very good. More

We met a group of Good Friends here for a festive dinner and was impressed with the food and staff. We would come back here again.

Chili peppers, alanis top '90s-heavy lineup for first minnesota yacht club festival in st. paul.

Gen-X music fans seem to be steering the ship for the inaugural Minnesota Yacht Club festival, which announced its lineup Tuesday with such 1990s-era names at the top as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gwen Stefani, Alanis Morissette, the Black Crowes and the Offspring.

The maiden voyage of the nautical-themed festival — paddleboats and the Mississippi riverfront are part of its branding — is scheduled for July 19-20 on Harriet Island across from downtown St. Paul. Twenty bands will perform on two stages over a Friday and Saturday in the city-owned park.

Along with Tuesday's lineup reveal came word on when fans can first buy tickets to the festival. Presale options for two-day passes begin Friday at 10 a.m. via minnesotayachtclubfest.com , where concertgoers can sign up now for access. Initial prices are $135 for single-day general-admission tickets or $215 for two-day, while VIP options range from $285 to $925.

Extra anticipation has been built up for the Minnesota Yacht Club lineup since it was revealed the event is being put on by C3 Presents , the Live Nation-affiliated company behind such marquee U.S. festivals as Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits and Shaky Knees.

Twin Cities music lovers have long felt slighted by not having a big music bash in town like those, especially after homegrown festivals such as Soundset, Rock the Garden and the Basilica Block Party were sidelined. Live Nation tried to launch one in 2012 on Harriet Island, River's Edge, but the festival was canceled after just one lackluster year.

"Major" might be a debatable term when it comes to the artists on the newly announced lineup, but there is certainly ample familiarity with the biggest names.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers, who will headline Saturday, are Rock & Roll Hall of Famers who drew 35,000 to their U.S. Bank Stadium show last year. Saturday is also when "Self-Esteem" punk rockers the Offspring, Texas guitar slinger Gary Clark Jr., Hippo Campus, the Hold Steady and Soul Asylum are scheduled to perform.

The Friday lineup's top names, Morissette and Stefani, each put a feminist spin on angsty rock playlists in the 1990s, the former with her megahit album "Jagged Little Pill" and the latter with singles by her old band No Doubt, including "Just a Girl" and "It's My Life."

Not entirely a nostalgic affair, the Minnesota Yacht Club lineup also features some younger touring acts making a buzz in recent years, including Michigander, Nico Vega and Wilderado. C3 bookers also pulled in two newcomer rock acts making waves in the Twin Cities scene, Durry and Gully Boys.

One-day tickets to the festival will be sold after the initial round of two-day passes go on sale. The prices will be split up into different tiers, with extra options including VIP and "GA+" passes offering lounges and restrooms.

In keeping with the "yacht club" theme, there will even be a 21-and-up only pass option called "Riverboat VIP," which will include rides on paddleboats during the event — yet another sign that Twin Cities concertgoers are entering new waters with this ambitious festival.

Chris Riemenschneider has been covering the Twin Cities music scene since 2001, long enough for Prince to shout him out during "Play That Funky Music (White Boy)." The St. Paul native authored the book "First Avenue: Minnesota's Mainroom" and previously worked as a music critic at the Austin American-Statesman in Texas.

The Royal Manitoba Yacht Club & Dockside Restaurant & Bar

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

Live music and a beautiful view. New chef this season, me and my friend split bruschetta and mussels. AMAZING! Our servers name was Tianna and she was so friendly, she recommended cannolis for dessert. They were delicious! She checked on us frequently to make sure... everything was perfect. Even chef Joe came out to the table check on us. We will definitely be returning! More

New ownership and staff. The Food here was excellent. We went with our kids and another family. The fish and chips was a large filet of pickerel and it was delicious. The turkey club was real Pieces of turkey and the pastrami sandwich meat was... smoked in house. Food was outstanding. Portions are generous and reasonably priced. Love the view and will return for drinks and dinner on the patio :) More

Stopped in for Burger Week and it was a fantastic experience! The burger was outstanding. Likely the best that we have had anywhere in Winnipeg. The location is amazing and the service from Caitlyn was the best. We have not visited the Dockside before, and... we have lived in the area for 20 years. This is a place that should be visited by anyone who is looking for great food, great service and an amazing view of the yacht club and river. More

Hello and thank you for taking the time to write a review. Our restaurant was not open in May of 2020 and due to covid-19 restrictions we were delayed opening until July of 2020. Further to that, we do not offer a clubhouse sandwich on... More

I heard recently that the Dockside Bar at the RMYC had changed chefs to the chef who previously cooked at Mama Joe's Foodie Collective, and, since the restaurant was now open to the public, decided to check it out. I went for Sunday lunch with... friends and was not disappointed--the food was the same excellent quality as I had had previously at Mama Joe's. I chose the special, Chicken Parmesan with Alfredo pasta and garlic bread. The pasta was prepared perfectly, the bread soft and garlicky, and the Chicken Parmesan tender, cheesy, and delicious. The portion was very generous--to the point that I couldn't even be disappointed that they were out of lemon-raspberry cannoli, because I couldn't have eaten any anyway! Service was friendly and prompt; our waiter checked regularly to see if we needed anything. Although the view of the river from the dining room is lovely, the decor is quite informal and laid back. Since I prefer a restaurant to put its money into the food and not the decor, this wasn't a negative to me. All in all, our experience was uniformly positive, and I look forward to going back again. The Royal Manitoba Yacht club has a members restaurant I don't know if non-members can just show up Regardless its a nice change and serves nice breakfasts More

Thank you for your great review, we appreciate it. The restaurant is open seasonally during the Winnipeg boating season and usually opens in May thru to October. The restaurant, including the Dockside Bar with it's deck overlooking The Red, is always open to the public.... More

The food in the past was incosistent, it seemed to vary according to who was cooking. The current chef is fantastic. I had the Wallye and Chips and it was outstanding. Several others had the same and had the same review. A couple of people... had the burger and it was huge and great. All plates are plentiful and priced well. The view is to die for and liquor prices comparable. Service was good. I highly recommend it. There was a band when I was there & it made it a great evening.. More

Went for a good breakfast and was so disappointed. Have been there last year and food was very good. Not this time. Seems there is a lot of mismanagement . I ordered the big breakfast 3 eggs(over easy) bacon sausage toast and hash browns &... pancakes.(11$) My wife ordered a omelette (13$) Well my breakfast came and what I got was 3 pee wee eggs that were overhard she got her omelette which was missing the cheese as the girl told us that it was up to her if she wanted it and that they were making her a new one anyway. Well she brings the new one and its not even cooked inside!! When my wife complained the first time she said that they were backed up in the kitchen . The next time the waitress came with the second omelette which was so under cooked it was leaking raw egg she said that the cook was fired! so she basically was telling us that they did not have a cook. How can you have a restaurant opened if you don't have a cook??? Well they never charged us for the omelette but still had to pay for the big breakfast which was terrible. Ruined our morning. Never go here again!!!! More

Went last year & was great this year. Not at all! $13 for an omelette that had maybe one piece of bacon & they forgot the cheese! Made me another one & served it half raw! Ruined my breakfast! My hubby ordered over easy eggs!... Mostly cooked hard! Complained! More

Well, the renovations are ok, nice spot for sure. Meals...no appetizers...definitely need to add this to tiny menu. Meals....pickeral, taste was good, but bones! Told waitress and virtually zero response...I don’t want bones in my fish! Pulled pork......tasty but apparently most of the port was... pulled off of the plate before they served it....might as well have been a vegetarian meal, jerk chicken was the only win out of four meals. Hope they work with review as the potential is there 🙂 More

Thank you for your feedback ☺ As we are just new and also with the new menu we appreciate all comments and take it to heart. We hope your next experience with us is a better one as we take your review seriously and will... More

Delicious food good menu layout and drinks their Caesars are awesome you can't just have one. The atmosphere is nice by the river the service it awesome totally give this place 2 thumbs up

I have been a member of the Royal Manitoba Yacht Club for 18 plus years. Since Paul and his team took over the food and service has been amazing, I honestly have loved everything I tried, it’s open to the public come by and enjoy... this hidden gem this summer, More

As always, a great find and treasure for Winnipeg. Food is the best it's ever been! Just two issues: 1-Do miss the umbrellas on the patio. Don't know where they went, but they add a lot to the look and experience of the patio. 2-Prices... appear to have jumped quite a bit. Seems to be a bit of a trend these days, but they are certainly not behind that trend, I think it's become too expensive to come as often as I did before. Domestic Beer, $8? Is this a Bomber game? >$20 for a burger Again, they can charge what they want, but I expect they'll have fewer guests. Like me. More

Casual atmosphere right on the river. Meals were way above average and generous portions. Staff and regulars are friendly and welcoming. People running it and volunteering went above and beyond. Will continue to be a patron.

Staff were friendly and attentive, food was very good and large portions, Garlic chicken Alfredo was fantastic.
