Saint Lucia is a major yachting center in the Windward Island section of the eastern Caribbean Sea. With great resorts like Rodney Bay and Marigot Bay, as well as beaches on the West Coast such as Anse Chastanet, you will be spoiled for choice as to what best to do even before leaving the island to explore Martinique to the north or St Vincent and the Grenadines to the south.

St Lucia Destinations

Broadly the west coast, northern end of the island is where you'll spend much of your time on a St Lucia yacht charter. Rodney Bay Marina is a major yachting destination for people heading west from Europe by boat, and here you will have lots of fun in nearby Gros Islet or a bit of chill time on Pigeon Island national park.

Further south on the west coast is the deep cove of Marigot Bay. This is a hurricane hole in the summer months but is also a great place with its resort on the steep hillsides.

South again on your St Lucia boating trip you can come ashore at Anse Chastanet beach with its fantastic sunsets. Not far inland from here is the Toraille Waterfall, a great place to explore as part of the inland beauty of the island.

Vieux Fort is on the southern tip of Saint Lucia. Close to the international airport, you may spend time here before joining your charter yacht to the north, or spend the evening here before heading out to St Vincent and the Grenadines to the south.

Other Islands Nearby

On your St Lucia yacht charter it is almost the law that you should go island hopping! With so much to enjoy, you'd miss much in not going to see another Windward Island or two!

Immediately to the north of Rodney Bay on nearby Martinique is the water sports center of Le Marin with its extremely large and well equipped marina. From here you could island hop north via Guadeloupe and Antigua on to St Kitts and Nevis in the Leeward Islands - another week afloat could take you to the Virgin Islands too... But looking south from St Lucia there is much to explore that is far closer.

Saint Vincent is the next island south. Hit by a volcanic eruption in recent times it is rebuilding its economy, with tourism a major source of foreign currency. Drop anchor at Wallilabou Bay anchorage with its fantastic resort that was also the main set for the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, a set that has been maintained by the resort owners.

On a St Lucia catamaran charter you can head further south still to destinations like Union Island or Tobago Cay with its fantastic snorkeling and fishing opportunities and to Admiralty Bay on Bequia - a large, well protected anchorage used for hundreds of years.

There is a lot to take in - in choosing a St Lucia catamaran charter with Borrow a Boat! Why not visit time and again to enjoy different parts?

A luxury yacht charter is one of the best ways to enjoy a St Lucia yacht charter vacation. With an often large vessel just for you and your fellow charter guests' use, on a crewed yacht charter the captain and crew will look after your every need afloat. They will look after the tender as you venture ashore on islands like Le Marin and Tobago Cay, and perhaps make suggestions as to the best spots to enjoy a first class meal or activity of your choice.

On a bareboat charter catamaran charter you will have the space and added privacy to get the luxury yacht from A-B at your own pace.

St Lucia Catamaran Charter Types

Though you will often have to have a sailing license for a larger vessel, a bareboat charter will give you complete freedom and privacy to do what you want. Unlike a monohull sailing yacht, a catamaran charter yacht will often come with en suite heads in all the cabins, an AC generator and all the comforts of home as you captain your own ship.

A captained catamaran charter can range from a 46ft+ catamaran. The captain aboard will look after the sailing and make suggestions as to your next destinations, with you playing as much or as little a role in getting from A-B as you want. It is customary to pay a tip at the end of the trip, on top of the $100-$150 a day fee for the captain you pay as well as the basic charter fee.

A crewed catamaran charter could mean a 60ft yacht with captain and crew, but could also mean a superyacht or crewed yacht charter with a team of people looking after your every need. As well as sailing the vessel up the Leeward Islands or Windward Islands, they will cook, look after the housekeeping and water toys, and provide you with the service you expect at the top end of yacht charter vacation experiences.

Catamaran Types in St Lucia

Sailing catamaran.

Ranging from a 40ft yacht to much, much larger, this will be enjoyable to sail (particularly with the wind aft of the beam) and unlike a monohull sailboat will often have en suite heads in all the staterooms. You will have plenty of entertainment space aboard and even the smaller vessels will have room for water toys such as paddleboards and kite surfing gear or even diving gear and jet skis. If the windage of the catamaran sailing boat gets too much, powerful twin engines will be able to get you upwind to your next destination too!

Motor Catamaran

Ranging from 46ft to over 100ft LOA, you can charter a luxury motor yacht catamaran with crew or bareboat. Thanks to the wider beam they are more stable than a monohull motor yacht (no one going green at sea unless too much drink was involved!) and much faster. This could allow for longer legs, perhaps between the party center of Gros Islet and a relaxed anchorage like Admiralty Bay .

What can you do on a Catamaran charter in St Lucia?

There are three broad types of sailing vacation to be had in St Lucia - family, outdoor or party.

Partying can mean stays in fashionable spots like Le Marin or Marigot Bay, or it can mean something a little crazier at a beach bar with lots of rum punch!

Family vacations are the bread and butter of the Caribbean Island economy. You can relax in great places like Anse Chastanet or Vieux Fort on your catamaran yacht charter vacation.

Active vacations are increasingly popular here too. The Pitons beckon the mmountain biker or hiker! Snorkeling and diving are great in several locations, but so is walking and mountain biking. Saint Vincent is is great for exploring the inland jewels as are Tobago Cay for its beautiful reefs and Pigeon Island is a great place to escape the buzz of life ashore.

What does an average day on a St Lucia Yacht charter look like?

A catamaran charter boat charter on St Lucia can mean a variety of things to different people. The sailing is reliably excellent so a blast at sea every day will be a core part of the fun.

For the family or older ones, you can sail between hidden coves and quiet sandy beaches, while visiting fishing villages and quieter resorts.

You will want to sail for several hours a day - with the near perfect sailing conditions this is unmissable. Watching the marine life and tropical fish from the windward rail on a beam reach as the catamaran bounds across the sea will be an unforgettable experience.

Resorts such as Gros Islet and those on smaller islands in the Windward Islands can be alcohol fuelled or completely relaxed as you choose - with or without the kids in tow!

As such your typical day could be a mix of things, from an early start to blast off to the next island to waking up at lunchtime feeling a little green around the gills and thanking your crew for getting you back aboard. The choice is down to you.

If you are on a captained or crewed catamaran charter you do not need a license to sail on the Caribbean Sea - you can just turn up at the marina and go.

You do need a license if you are on a bareboat catamaran charter and in some countries a Day Captain or ICC may not be enough for boats over 45 feet in length, you will need to check with the charter agent but here are some examples of typical sailing qualifications that will allow you to charter in most countries:

**International Certificate of Competence:** This is issued on request by your European sailing authority and you should automatically qualify with certain national sailing qualifications.

**RYA Qualifications:** If you have the following qualifications you will typically be able to take a bareboat charter out of Rhodes (but it is worth checking as per above), these include Day Captain (sail or motor endorsement), Coastal Captainor Yachtmaster.

**American** **Sailing** **Association (ASA):** The ASA 104 Bareboat certificate is commonly accepted but also check as per above

**US** **Sailing**: The International Proficiency Certificate is widely accepted and The Bareboat Cruising Certificate is also accepted in many cases.

Unlike Europe, the sailing season in the Caribbean runs from November to May - perfect for a dose of winter sun. The NE Trades are settled and you will encounter weather between 25-35 degrees C.

Bring warm weather and cool weather clothing if it looks like the weather can be cool as well as warm and remember at sea it can be cool in the evenings.

If you want to sail without a skipper then you will need relevant qualifications like RYA Day Skipper/International Certificate of Competence (ICC)/ASA 104 Bareboat certificate or the US Sailing Certificate. If you choose to have a skipper on board your catamaran you won't require licences.

For cancellations by Guests, cancellation charges depend on when Island Routes receives notice of the cancellation. Minimum cancellation charges are as follows:

48 hours or less: 50% Cancellation Fee

96 hours or less: 25% Cancellation Fee

96+ hours: Full Refund

Shore Excursions:

All cancellations of, or changes are subject to applicable restrictions. Island Routes Tours will apply any payments made toward the purchase price against any cancellation charges and will refund any balance remaining after the payment of any charges. In order to receive a refund, if applicable, client must request and receive a cancellation confirmation number. The cancellation charges outlined above are liquidated damages and not a penalty. Holiday periods may be subject to additional cancellation charges. NO REFUNDS OR ADJUSTMENTS WILL BE MADE FOR ANY PORTION OF TOUR OR ATTENDANT SERVICES NOT UTILIZED.

Refund Policy: No refunds or adjustments will be made for any portion of your tour not utilized.

Changes to Reservations: All requested changes to reservations are subject to Island Routes' sole discretion, and any changes must be approved in writing.

Tour times and dates may vary based on volume or availability. To the exclusion of tours identified at www.islandroutes.com as being owned by Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours, there exists no relationship of master and servant or of agency between the Operators of tours and either Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours, or the hotel. Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours, and the hotel, do not operate the tours, and for these purposes, the Operators of tours are independent contractors. The Operators of tours are solely responsible for their acts and omissions and Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours, and the hotel, assume no responsibility for such acts and omissions, or for any injury, loss, damage, sickness or accidents sustained on any of the tours offered for sale , including but not limited to any that occur on and/or during the tour, as well as before and after as part of and/or during transport to/from the tour ‐ again, to the exclusion of tours identified as being owned by Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours. Without any exclusion, however, Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours, and the hotel, shall not assume any responsibility for injury, loss or damage to any person that voluntarily participates in cliff diving at any location, including but not limited to Dunn's River Falls or Rick's Café, and/or to any person who voluntarily stops as part of and/or during transport to/from a tour at an unintended destination, meaning one that is separate and apart from the scheduled tour and/or destination. Individuals proceeding in such manner assume any and all responsibility and risk, as this is not a recommended activity. Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours, and the hotel, in addition shall not assume any responsibility for the loss or damage to money, jewelry, clothing or other valuables that have not been tendered to Management for safe keeping. Please note, for your safety, Guest will not be allowed to participate in helicopter tours and/or transfers if they have undertaken any diving exercise within 24hrs prior to departure of said tour/transfer.

LIMITATION OF DAMAGES

Guest HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGES AND AGREES that Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours, and the hotel, their parent corporation, affiliates, subsidiaries, insurers, directors, officers, employees, successors, assigns, agents or representatives, SHALL NOT BE LIABLE to Guest for liabilities, claims, actions, damages, cost or expense in any circumstances, for: (A) ANY PERSONAL INJURIES OR PROPERTY DAMAGE ARISING OUT OF OR CAUSED BY ANY ACT OR OMISSION ON THE PART OF ANY Guest(s) and/or Operators of tours, excluding tours identified as being owned by Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours; (B) EMOTIONAL DISTRESS, MENTAL SUFFERING, OR PSYCHOLOGICAL INJURY OF ANY KIND; OR (C) ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, PUNITIVE OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES. This specifically includes but is not limited to liabilities, claims, actions, damages, cost or expense ARISING OUT OF OR CAUSED BY food or drink consumed at third party facilities belonging to third party Operators of tours.

SPECIAL REQUESTS

Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours cannot guarantee that it will satisfy special requests and we are not responsible if such requests are not met.

PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

Persons with Disabilities: Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours cannot guarantee that transfer vehicles or tour sites are wheelchair accessible. However, if informed, we will endeavor to make the necessary arrangements. This may however come at an additional cost.

VENUE AND CHOICE OF LAW

ALL CLAIMS WHATSOEVER AGAINST SUNISLAND ROUTES AND/OR ISLAND ROUTES TOURS, ITS AFFILIATES, PARENT COMPANY, SUBSIDIARIES, DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR CONTRACTORS, ARISING FROM, IN CONNECTION WITH, OR INCIDENTAL TO THE CONTRACT, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY CLAIMS RELATING TO THE FORMATION, INTERPRETATION, CONSTRUCTION, WAIVER, MODIFICATION, PERFORMANCE, DISCHARGE, OR BREACH OF THE CONTRACT, OR THE EXISTENCE, EXTENT, OR BREACH OF ANY FIDUCIARY DUTY, OR ANY DUTY IN TORT OR PURSUANT TO ANY STATUTE, SHALL BE LITIGATED SOLELY AND EXCLUSIVELY IN THE COUNTRY IN WHICH THE EXCURSION AND/OR TOUR IS OPERATED, AND SHALL BE GOVERNED BY THE LAWS OF THE COUNTRY IN WHICH THE EXCURSION AND/OR TOUR IS OPERATED WITHOUT REGARD TO THE CHOICE OF LAW PRINCIPLES THEREOF.

USE OF GUEST'S LIKENESS

The undersigned Guest(s) irrevocably consents to and authorizes the use and reproduction by Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes, or anyone authorized by Island Routes, of any and all photographic, video and other visual portrayal(s) of the undersigned Guest(s), their child or ward, for any purpose whatsoever, including but not limited to use in magazines, brochures, flyers, television, internet, and websites displays without further reference or compensation. All rights, title and interest therein (including all worldwide copyrights therein) shall be the sole property of Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes, or anyone authorized by Island Routes, free from any claims by the undersigned Guest(s) and or any person deriving any rights or interest from such Guest, AND each undersigned Guest(s) UNDERSTANDS AND HEREBY KNOWINGLY AND VOLUNTARILY SO AGREES.

COMPLIANCE WITH LOCAL LAW

Guest is responsible for knowing, obeying and complying with the laws and regulations of their destination, and neither Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours, nor any Tour Supplier, nor the hotel, has any duty to inform or warn Guest about the destination's laws and/or regulations.

This agreement is governed by the laws of Jamaica. You hereby consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of courts in Jamaica, in all disputes arising out of or relating to the use of this Website. Use of this Website is unauthorized in any jurisdiction that does not give effect to all provisions of these terms and conditions, including, without limitation, this paragraph.

You agree that no joint venture, partnership, employment, or agency relationship exists between you and Island Routes Caribbean Adventures as a result of this agreement or use of this Web site.
