Motor yacht CALYPSO (Ex Solemar) was built by the Amels yard in Holland in 2003 and benefited from a 15 million euro upgrade and new decor by Amels in 2017. She is a 61.5m luxury yacht which features meticulous design detailing, lovely exterior styling and huge interior spaces. Her side deck areas are also abundant with space, such as the expansive sun deck, where you can lounge in the sun and relax or enjoy al fresco dining.

CALYPSO’s beautiful interior conveys a contemporary feel with raised and fielded paneling in cherry wood. A lovely sumptuous ambiance flows through the entire yacht, with a widespread use of marble and colorful fabrics and furnishings. She also offers charter guest a new fully equipped gymnasium as well as a fantastic Spa Pool. On the main deck, the expansive salon offers a sumptuous lounge and adjacent private library. Separate and forward is the formal dining table, seating 12 guests in elegance.

The exterior living is over 3 well-appointed decks, perfect for entertaining large groups or simply relaxing. On the main deck is a shaded seating area, complete with the option of alfresco dining. Steps lead from the main deck aft to the extended swim platform and water toys activity center. The upper aft deck features a further alfresco dining area, seating, wet bar and partial shade. Her sundeck is exceptionally well designed and offers both an aft and a forward section. The forward area has comfortable seating, alfresco dining, sunpads and a Jacuzzi tub. Centered, is a fully equipped air conditioned gym for the fitness enthusiasts. The aft section of the sundeck is incredibly spacious and has chaise loungers and seating.

The yacht is powered by 2 x CAT 2,600hp engines with cruising speeds of 14 knots and top speeds of 15.5 knots. She has both at anchor and underway stabilizers for optimum comfort.

Yacht Charter Accommodation

Accommodation is in 7 guest cabins for 12 charter guests. The master stateroom is full beam of the yacht on the main deck forward, with a split level layout. The upper level has a king size bed and private lounge, while the lower level offers a further lounge, study and full beam ensuite with his and hers facilities. The VIP cabin is on the upper deck forward of the skylounge, with a king size bed. A guest cabin on the main deck to starboard has a queen size bed. On the lower deck are 4 mirror image guest cabins, each with a queen size bed and Pullman berth.

Charter the beautiful Solemar Yacht by Amels

Holland has a long, outstanding tradition in yacht building. Adding to this tradition, the Dutch shipyard Amels designed the stunning Solemar yacht. Originally built in 2003, it’s a superb 202-foot luxurious vessel, with all the amenities one would ever desire and huge interior spaces and outdoor lounge facilities. It’s currently available for charter for a price tag of $325,000 per week.

The crew number is somewhere around 16 people, assuring guests with all the services they need. The yacht can accommodate 12 people in six large cabins. The main suite, the owner’s, spreads around two deck levels, also comprising a raised lounge area to enjoy the breathtaking views, double bed and an office area.

On the upper deck there’s a double cabin and on the lower deck there are four single cabins, two of which are equipped with additional Pullman bunks. The list of pleasures and amenities goes on, with a huge Jacuzzi, al-fresco dining, satellite TV and communications, two Yamaha wave-runners, two 22-feet Nautica tenders, a state-of-the-art gym on the main deck, plasma entertainment system (TV + DVD) and the list goes on.

In 2022 a group of entrepreneurs from Bergamo bought from Lalizas the brand Solemar and the Solemar Italia Srl company was born.

SX34, with its almost 11 meters in length, proves to be a versatile model and it immediately stands out for its majesty and elegance: asymmetric with comfortable side passage, on the starboard side we find a tridimensional console inspired by the automotive, modern and well-studied. At the helm the owner can enjoy a comfortable driver’s seat dedicated to him. The driver seat gives him a lot of importance and it proves to be very comfortable; by turning and moving, it becomes an additional seat at the table. The hull is high and, together with the handrail and the two side wings, it helps to spread a feeling of safety to all those who get on board.

At the bow and stern we find large sundeck with comfortable and enveloping backrests: in the cockpit, the table falls down and, with the addition of the additional cushion, creates a comfortable relaxation area, usable to guests. Both bow and stern areas can be shaded thanks to the rollbar: with front awning -facing the bow- and with the two carbon poles for the aft area.

On the left side, a bar corner, very convenient and strategic, to be used during the days at anchor with friends and family, as well as in port.

The stern side platforms facilitate the access to the sea.

To make Solemar products unique, we have chosen four different possibilities of cushions: each of them gives a different touch to the boat, but all are united by a strong identity, which contains the company’s values and passion for Solemar.

SX30 is the daily model par excellence: well defined lines that, at the same time, create harmony in the product. Here, too, the asymmetric line of the brand is taken up, allowing a comfortable lateral passage, which goes to enlarge and optimize the space on board.

The console, completely redesigned, is comfortably organized without losing its beauty and, the front windshield this time also stretches sideways, on the starboard side, going both to particularize the model, is to break the air for those who are driving.

Next to the driver’s seat, we find the bar, located in a strategic and convenient position with fridge-sink and hob: a great possbility to serve guests at the table, without disturbing the passage. The dining table quickly transforms into a sundeck, thanks to the folding table and additional cushion, giving guests a comfortable relaxation area.

At the bow, however, we find a large full beam sundeck and a comfortable chaise-long, ideal to relax in total comfort and enjoy the navigation. The back of the chaise-long opens laterally and leads to a compartment with a bathroom, which is very convenient for daily trips, to ensure guests a stay in total comfort.

SX27 is the entry level model in the Solemar range. 8.50 meters of boat above all, SX27 turns out to be a dynamic and massive model, on board you can find everything you could want from a model of these dimensions: convenient lateral passage given by the asymmetry of the model, which goes to enlarge and optimize the space on board. The console, completely redesigned, is organized in a comfortable way but without losing its beauty and, the front windshield also stretches laterally, on the starboard side, going both to particularize the model, both to break the air for those who are driving. The back of the driver’s seat can be tilted and this allows it to be used both as a driving seat and as a seat at the table.

As a unique feature of all Solemar, the hull is high and safe, the backrests of the sundeck are enveloping and the whole gives a sense of security to those who climb on board. The handles on the windshield make it easy to move forward – and on the rollbar, the handles help to increase the “feeling safe”.

In the cockpit, we find the table in addition, while on the rollbar is placed the awning that opens towards the bow, going to shade the central area. Always in the aft area, the side platforms facilitate access and ascent into the water.

In addition, to make Solemar products unique, we have chosen four different possibilities of cushions: each of them with a different touch and a different personality, but all united by a single strong energy that encompasses the values and passion of Solemar.

VESSEL REVIEW | Sinichka – Electric commuter boats designed for Russia’s Moskva River

A series of three new electric monohull commuter ferries have already begun operational sailings on the Moskva River in the Russian capital Moscow.

Built by Russian shipyard Emperium, sister vessels Sinichka , Filka , and Presnya – all named after rivers in Moscow – are being operated by the Moscow Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development (Moscow Deptrans). They are the first units of a planned fleet of 20 vessels that will serve the capital city and other nearby communities. The new ferry system will be the water transport system to be operated on the Moskva River in 16 years.

Each vessel has a welded aluminium hull, an LOA of 21 metres, a beam of 6.2 metres, a draught of only 1.4 metres, a displacement of 40 tonnes, and capacity for 80 passengers plus two crewmembers. Seating is available for 42 passengers on each ferry, and the main cabins are also fitted with USB charging ports, wifi connectivity, tables, toilets, and space for bicycles and scooters. The cabin layout can be rearranged to allow the operator to adjust the distances between the seats and to install armrests of varying widths.

An open upper deck is also accessible to passengers and is the only area on each ferry where smoking is allowed.

The ferries are all of modular construction with each ferry’s wheelhouse, main cabin, and other structural elements being built as complete, separate components. This enables the ferries to be easily dismantled for transport to anywhere in Russia by rail and then quickly re-assembled within seven days.

The ferries are also ice-capable. Recently completed operational trials on the Moskva showed that the vessels can also easily navigate under mild winter conditions with broken surface ice, though year-round operations are planned for the entire fleet.

The ferries are each fitted with 500kWh lithium iron phosphate battery packs that supply power to two 134kW motors. This configuration can deliver a maximum speed of 11.8 knots, a cruising speed of just under 10 knots, and a range of 150 kilometres.

Emperium said the transfer of rotation of electric motors to the propeller is carried out by direct drive. As a propulsion installation, a pulling rotary propeller-steering column with double screws is used. The installation of double pulling screws, with similar power, allows an operator to increase the efficiency of the propulsion system to deliver a slightly higher speed or to reduce energy consumption. The batteries themselves have projected service lives of 10 to 12 years and are fitted with safety features such as built-in fire extinguishers and gas vents. Quick-disconnect features allow the batteries to be easily removed for replacement or maintenance.
