A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3

• SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
• D : Displacement in pounds.

Le Hobie Dragoon est un catamaran de 3,91 m qui se décline en deux versions : le Dragoon Club et le Dragoon Xtrem

 Le modèle Dragoon Xtrem est parfaitment équipé pour la compétition. Il existe d'ailleurs une classe internationale qui organise ses propres événements sportifs comme le Dragoon Wolrd Championship, la Dragoon Cup. Sa particularité, proposer des compétitions de catamarans de sport en flotte pour les jeunes navigateurs.

Dragoon Xtrem

Le Dragoon Xtrem peut aussi évoluer très rapidement vers un catamaran de compétition  puisqu'un kit spinnaker trompette  de 10,31 m2  est proposé de série. Il devient alors avec ses double trapèzes un excellent support d’entraînement pour initier la classe jeune aux régates. Ce catamaran est vraiment parfaitement conçu pour accompagner les adolescents de leur initiation à la voile, à la compétition sportive de haut niveau. Le ratio poids 122 kg / vitesse 11,70m2 de voiles, fait du  catamaran Dragoon Xtrem un des catamarans les plus funs de la flotte Hobie Cat. Il est le choix de catamarans de nombreuses équipes de jeunes navigateurs
