DO NOT GO HERE! They do not take care of your boat during restoration. They do not clean up. They left our boat a mess when they were through. We thought for sure they would send a cleaning crew. They did not. They are terrible about scheduling. They took so much longer than promised. They cost so much more than promised. Do not trust them with your boat!
I can't say enough good things about the staff and crew at Huckins. We had a list of items that we needed taken care of on our Kadey-Krogen 42 and since we live aboard it was important to have an accurate time line for the work. We were scheduled in on a Monday at 0830 and were promptly hauled and the work started. The work we had listed was reviewed with the service manager PJ and representatives from the different crafts. During the review we were given some suggestions and advice during which we added and subtracted some items. Not once did my wife or I feel we were being pushed into additional work. Since we needed fiberglass repair and painting, a bottom job, stuffing box service, electrical and bonding system checks, carpentry work and running gear service you can understand the difficulty with scheduling. During the running gear service when they removed the wheel (prop) they discovered the cutlass bearing was bad and needed to be replaced. PJ contacted me and was able to get it taken care of immediately. The team was welcoming and never seemed too busy to explain what they were doing and why. Huckins was able to complete all of our items on schedule and the work was exemplary. We could not have been more pleased. Pat M.
We had Huckins fix a cracked hull on our power boat. The hull work was decent but they trashed our boat boat in the process. They left all the windows open for days and it rained heavily . We had standing water in our boat and the wood floors are permanently damaged along with the wood on our bunk beds. The cushions are water logged and mildewed. They also used our single head multiple times and clogged the line. When we addressed these issues with them they shrugged us off and claimed no responsibility for it. I would not advise not using them.
